I love this little place in Lakewood!  I've been once and ordered delivery twice & the food is delicious.  Service is great and delivery very quick.  I haven't had anything but the pasta and ceaser salad, but I'm sure if the pasta is delish all of the other items are just as good.

If your looking for decently priced Italian food.  This place won't break  the bank, its a quaint and cute place to go on a date or take your family to dinner.  This is the place I choose when I'm wanting some good home cooked Italian food.

This is in a cute part of town with a little overly cutesy Italian decorating inside.  Both the food and the service were meh.  The three stars are really for the yummy garlic rolls and the tilapia special my friend ordered (which she gave 5 stars).  The baked ziti and the chicken fra diavolo were more in the 2 star range - just had an odd flavor to it.  Maybe too creamy and not in a good way.  The portions are huge but if you don't like the food, you really don't need a triple portion of it.  Service was also so-so.  I ordered a beer to begin with and he never came back and asked if I wanted more.  We asked a couple times for shredded parmesan and the second time he told us that the cheese shredder was broken and it was one he had bought personally (really - an Italian restaurant with only one cheese shredder and the waiter had to buy it himself??).

It is a kid friendly place.  Maybe the pizza would have been a better option based on some other comments but we had just had pizza for lunch.

I want to like this place, but I can't. Being in Lakewood, just down the street from me, I want to love this small Italian, cozy restaurant.

I went here for lunch one time and the buffet was unappetizing. I couldn't find one thing that I liked. In an effort to give it a second chance, my husband and I ordered pizza here one night for dinner and it was awful! I have never found pizza I didn't like. It was super heavy, cheesy, and even luke-warm when they delivered it.

I really want to like Angelo's, but I just haven't found a reason to.

I've been here a gazillion times but not recently until yesterday b/c I'd rather be run over by a speeding cement truck than battle NW Hwy traffic to get to East Dallas. Anyway, I suffered through it b/c I fear this place may be gone when they revamp the shopping center. Frutti Di Mare was as good as ever!

Sometimes incredible, sometimes average.  Until I moved out of Lakewood, I had great luck with the seafood dishes but went back over and over for the pizza. If you like stuffed pizza then try the calzoni crust.  Its not exactly like deep dish or stuffed pizza, but its close and I love it.

One of my neighborhood eateries! Too much food, quite honestly.  My meal wasn't super delicious, but I liked the menu and the ambiance. Plus, the waitstaff people were attentive and seemed genuinely happy to be there. The strange little bread pudding thing with cinnamon icing stuff was, unfortunately, delicious. (I didn't need to eat it. I blame you, Angelo.)

Truly love Angelo's ! The atmosphere...Sinatra playing in the background....the friendly greeting I get when I walk in the door.....the friendly waiter & waitress......watching people out of the huge window.. all a-buzzzz going up & down La Vista........ my fresh and fruity peach bellini....and the food.....mmmmm !

I particularly like the Chicken Marsala w/ bow tie pasta. My husband likes the Chicken Parmesan w/ Angel Hair Pasta...the sauce is light and soooo good! The rolls are garlicky buttery goodness! Try & save room for the Famous Bread Pudding w/ the MOST Delicious Cinnamon Cream Sauce...WOW !

I love this quaint friendly little Lakewood Spaghetti House!

I've been here for dinner a couple times, and the atmosphere is super cute and cozy and the service is great. The food is a little hit or miss - mostly good but sometimes just a little meh.  However, I made a discovery today for lunch that I felt the need to shout from the rooftops:

    sampler sliders.

You can get a lunch order of "sliders" for under $10, that includes a mini meatball sandwich, a mini sausage and peppers sandwich, and a mini chicken parm sandwich.  Essentially it's a half loaf of crusty french bread divided in 3, each "slider" stuffed with the goodness of cheese, sauce and whichever meat.

I got all 3 (one of each kind) but I think you could go all one if you like.  The best part is, I was sure they'd be all gross and soggy by the time I got home, as you know hot sandwiches tend to do and aren't the best choice for takeaway.  Nope, they were still chewy and crusty and toasty and good.

Also, they come with home made crispy waffle fries/chips.  Yummmm!

The order didn't take long, and I was able to peruse a Dallas Observer and have a complimentary iced tea while I waited, all in all not a bad deal for a weekday lunch in the 'hood.

The bread was great. Sauce was good. I tried a new drink and that was good. Basil Martini btw. Cute decor. Prompt service. Normally when you order cheesesticks at a restaurant you get 4, well here we got like 10. I loved my chicken picatta. My friend loved her trio sampler. And you have to try the herb butter sauce, soooo good. We will definitely return!

I recently moved from Plano to Lakewood and saw this quaint little Italian restaurant while driving by one evening. I (of course) yelped it and found so many rave reviews that I decided to try it for myself. I was not mislead. This place is a jewel in the heart of Lakewood Dallas! Not only is it family owned & operated, it's been in business for 20yrs! I have a soft spot and a certain respect for 'mom & pop' shops & their homemade/handmade recipes, especially considering that most of them are being out numbered by big business/corporate restaurants(which is in my opinion, a travesty!). The ambiance here is quaint, casual romantic, with very dim lighting. The service is impeccable & the food is absolutely DELICIOUS!!!  I started with the house salad & their homemade house Italian dressing....very tasty. I ordered the Chicken Capri (roasted chicken, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, & whole wheat linguine in a homemade pesto cream sauce)....after adding a few dashes of crushed red pepper & freshly cracked black pepper (I like it spicy), I was in heaven! The flavors were mouthwatering, so rich, creamy & filling! And the portion sizes are massive!!! One last word to the wise: Don't leave without trying their homemade bread pudding! It is topped with homemade cinnamon-y delicious whipped cream.....AMAZING!!!   Angelo's is a great place to: have a romantic date, indulge in their Sunday brunch buffet (Italian style), to watch your favorite team play on their indoor patio TV, or  just relax & enjoy a thirst quenching martini prepared by Roxy (with their newly obtained liquor license). Great neighborhood spot!

Stated simply, this was probably the worst pizza...and the worst greek salad that I've ever had in my life.

I do appreciate a good, local Lakewood restaurant, but the pizza was so terrible that I'm at a loss for words.  Perhaps I have grown too accustomed to Scalini's pizza, but how can an Italian place screw up pizza?  I will give them a pass on "Greek" salad (which, as I said, was terrible), but pizza!?

Somewhere between Bad and Horrible... My wife and I wrote off this place  a dozen years ago after suffering through an incredibly insipid meal slathered with their infamous bitter-but-bland tomato sauce. Time heals all wounds and we took our chances again last night when lured in by a Groupon.

Last night we got two of their sampler platters. One had three pasta selections and the other had  three seafood items (in pasta) along with a small bowl of bowled shrimp in a red liquid. They were  accompanied by Caesar salads, which were tasty. The pasta sampler (which included their popular chicken parmesan) was composed of unappealing piles of glop with no discernable signature to any of the selections. Both platters were destroyed by their sauces and by overcooked pasta. Again, the "marinara" sauce had practically no spicing and no flavor to it. It was just tomatoes that had been reduced to a bitter mucilage. The shrimps that were in the red mystery liquid were so bitter that they were inedible.

I'm done with these folks. If my review helps, in some small way, to run them out of Lakewood, I will be a happy Yelper. The building would be a nice space for a restaurant with good food.

Incidentally, those garlic rolls are no big deal.

Hit and miss.  I've been here a few times and the food and service were sometimes good, sometimes not.  The last time I went, I had a bad experience.  Two out of three of us thought our entree was terrible, and I have never had a ruder waiter ever anywhere.

This place is friggin cute inside.  It's quaint with christmas like lights.  It feels cozy, yet kind of festive.  All that's missing is a fireplace and some snow outside.

I hate to say it, but after having dinner here two times I'm not a huge fan of the food.  The garlic rolls that they bring out first look so good, but they need more garlic (I miss Marco's garlic rolls).  I had lasagna the first time and pizza the second time.  Nothing horrible, just nothing favorable.  This food needs some spice in its life.

Our service was really good both times and if I remember correctly we got a carafe of red wine that was good and not too expensive.  So I dunno.  As cute as this place is I want to love them, so maybe in the future I'll give them another try.

So not impressed. I had the baked ziti. The sauce was way too salty; the meatballs were too salty, dry and overcooked. My sister's Penne ala-Vodka was also flavorless other than salt. I tried my nephew's Veal Parmigiana. If you guessed salty, you win a cookie.
I'll be passing on this place in the future.

haha, some of these reviews are funny. peoples perceptions about what "they" think something should be kind be way out of whack.

I love Angelo's. period. it's classic down-home Italian comfort food. the prices are unbelievably cheap compared to the quality of the food.

the pizza is truly greatness. it's not thin crust, it's a nice chewy thicker crust that, to me, resembles a classic pizza parlor kind of pie. you can taste the layers, crust, red sauce, cheese, toppings. i really, really enjoy it and think the Spicy Dago is the best.

i think their red sauce is near perfection as well. it isnt overly sweet like so many can be and has a nice subtle spice to it. you can taste and see the bits of garlic, tomato and onion in it.

I have a hard time going to fancy Italian places b/c many simply arent worth it. italian food is typically best served at a place like Angelo's. family run, laid-back, neighborhood kind of joint that's unpretentious. it's just good food that might not make you do a backflip off the Roman Coliseum but you'll leave very happy and satisfied.

Oh my goodness this place is stupendous! The rolls are absolutely delicious and the chicken parmigian is very tasting and a generous helping. The lunch buffet is deffinately the best value. If you have never been to this place before I reccommend you try the buffet, you will get to sample all the signature dishes.

Don't forget to try the bread pudding!

Parking is horrendous! You can be driving around for hours trying to get a spot so be prepared to schedule ample amount of time to enjoy this place.

Oh Angelo's, what happened? Previously, I would have given a solid 4 stars, but recently it just hasn't been that good.

I have gone to Angelo's for years. And yes, the prices have increased every year, but the quality of food, the service and overall package have not followed the trend.

I was surprised to see that the HALF carafe of below average house wine is now $18 dollars. You can walk across the street to the wine bar and get a nice WHOLE bottle of good wine for that much and have Angelos delivered. The normal meal that I get  is now at 15 bucks, okay fine, but it is inching up to the same prices as much nicer Italian places with nicer atmosphere and really professional staff. There are also other local Italian places with 12 dollar half carafes of house wine that actually tastes a lot better, and the same to better quality of food at lower prices. It is obvious that everything is pre-made and they just dump the sauce from the sauce vat onto any items containing cheese. Which never bothered me before, until nothing else seemed right.

We went last weekend. The rolls were hard and not fresh, the cheesy Italian music was pumping into our table, too loud. There was no time between rolls, salad and the meal. Boom Boom Boom, all shoved in our face, get em in get em out. Our waiter (who I found amusing with his apathy) kept saying "cool" after we requested things. He was okay but never offered to refill things and it was almost as though he was making a serious effort to take our orders, etc. We felt so hurried, it was somewhat uncomfortable.

The interior seems like they haven't updated it in ages, rips in old pleather booths, tacky wall art (even though they have some nice things like a trellis).

I really hope that they make some changes because this used to be such a great little neighborhood joint. It just seems kind of tired and untended.

I love the kitsch almost as much as I love the bread pudding.

If you decide on one of the daily specials, dessert is included (choice of cannoli or bread pudding) as well as caesar salad to start.  I love their caesar since the dressing isn't the standard goopy, creamy kind - it's more like a vinaigrette with lots of parmesan mixed in.

The rolls are flat out ridiculous.  Typically my husband and I are too stuffed from the rolls and salad to make any discernible dent in our entrees (thank goodness for doggie bags).  I've never had rolls that weren't thoroughly covered (and sitting) in garlicky, buttery goodness - make no mistake, this is no place for diets.  I normally don't like dipping bread in marinara, but theirs is quite good - I'm no connoisseur, so for all I know, it's just the best canned stuff I've tasted, but it's pretty darn fresh tasting.

None of the seafood dishes I've gotten have ever been disappointing.  One of the picata dishes wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't half bad, either.

The bread pudding is quite possibly one of my favorite desserts in Dallas.  It is not anything super gourmet or fancy, or even very aesthetically pleasing, but it's just flat out stick-to-your-ribs delicious... unless you're not a huge cinnamon fan, in which case, stay far away.  There are no raisins in it, but this puppy is loaded with cinnamon, butter, tender bread that's moist and almost gooey when the whipped cream gets into it.  The whipped cream is pretty clearly NOT the cool whip variety, but is chock full of cinnamon as well.  An absolutely perfect dessert for a chilly evening.

Right. Diet starts tomorrow. I haven't had time to go to the grocery store since being back in Dallas, so what does that mean? Does it mean I do something active like sweat to the oldies while dancing down isle after isle at my local grocer? No. It means I order pizza. Maybe I'll dance while I eat.

This place is a little pricey if you are just lookin' for a piece of pie, but when you are wanting something a bit more Sicilian, God Father or Italian over something Papa John, Pizza Hut or Domino, this is a good choice. I am thoroughly enjoying my Caesar salad loaded with huge chunky croutons and laced with a tasty dressing. Just a word of warning, when ordering delivery... when homeboy asks if you would like a side of their famous homemade dipping sauce at a lightening flash speed, make sure you know it is $3. Three dollars isn't a big deal to me and maybe it does taste like buddddda, but I'm just letting you know before you check your bill to see that a small Caesar and small Marguerite pizza is 22 and change. Damn Gina!

It's like when you go to get your toes done, and the nice woman workin' on your digits asks you something really fast, and you nod a "sure". Twenty minutes later you're walkin' out with neon pink butterflies painted on your big toes. I'm not eight years old, and I'm not up on stage next at Silver City. (Though hot pink unicorns would be sweet.)

I was happy I ordered the classic Marguerite pie with sliced tomato, fresh basil, Italian spices and cheese (good and fresh) but they have a ton of other interesting flavors to choose from. Cajun combo, super veggie, Jimmy the Greek and Nickerbocker are just a few. Other menu items include 11 different kinds of homemade soups, pasta dishes including veggie lasagna, chicken choices, seafood fare, and garlic cheese toast. Their dessert options are abundant offering chocolate, strawberry, New York plain, turtle, and black forest cheesecake, bread pudding (Deno!!) topped with cinnamon cream sauce, Tiramisu, Milky Way Pie, German Chocolate and Italian Cream Cake and Cannoli's. Whoa. Maybe I shouldn't have found this place...

Class is in session. The subject : Angelo's Sunday Brunch 101..... The basics for maximizing your $11.95 brunch buffet experience.

FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, COME HUNGRY:
Don't jeopardize an opportunity to stuff your pie hole by eating 4 hours before your brunch visit. Additionally, eat an early dinner the night before. Eat nothing at least 12 - 14 hours before your visit. You'll be thankful later.

DO NOT SUBCOME TO THE TEMPTATION OF DIVING INTO THE GARLIC ROLLS :
As you are seated, a basket of soft, hot, buttery garlic rolls magically appears at your table. Along with the garlic rolls, a ramekin of rich marinara looks to be the perfect compliment. But don't do it....... Yes, the rolls are great. The marinara is close to perfect. You just do not want to fill up on rolls prior to digging into the buffet. This is a common rookie mistake.

    $5 BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS A MUST!!
Spend the five and get the never ending flow of cheap champagne and OJ. The glasses are small, so drinking a bakers dozen is not that difficult. If you are a total light weight, they offer a $2.00 per glass option.

START WITH THE SALADS AND BEGIN TO PACE YOUR SELF.
The Cucumber and tomato salad rocks. The Ceasar salad is consistently fresh with crunchy croutons. I'll make multiple trips to the salad bar prior to any pasta or brunch dishes.

    MAIN COURSE - EAT FAST.
I put it all together with my eat fast method..... Know what you want, pile your plate high, and eat like a cave man/women. The faster you eat, the more you are able to eat. This may or may not be the healthiest option. Not really certain. I am not a doctor, so I can not concern myself with such trivial issues........ The crab stuffed pasta with some type of seafood sauce is my favorite. I cant really tell you what the sauce consist of, or why it it taste so good. It just does......
The egg casserole is not too bad either. They also offer a couple of standard pizza options. Anyway you decide to go, you can't lose. I'ts all good.

    DO NOT SKIP THE PUDDING:
Bread pudding brought to your table hot. Banana pudding on the buffet. I suggest you do both. Two plates, one spoon, Both eyes closed. Total pudding bliss.

Follow these instructions and congratulations! You have graduated Angelo's brunch 101.

As others have mentioned, the atmosphere cool. The service generally good...... I brought my little girl on our last visit. I asked the host how much for a 6 year old. She said, "Oh, we generally don't charge for kids." Wow, how cool is that!!

This is the little restaurant that could! Some jack-ass thought it was a good idea to drop a Carrabba's in Lakewood and the people have spoken! Arrivederci! These places are dropping like flies because humans don't care about Tagliarini Picchi Pacchiu, Formaggi, Rustica or Piccata. I'm an American, I speak American like spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli, fettucine, scampi and pizza, But I do think Insalata Johnny Rocco is kind of cool, don't think I'd eat it but I do wish my name was Johnny Rocco. "Hello ladies, name's Johnny Rocco, lover and a fighter... how about some Lobster Ravioli? It's got lobster in it."

Angelo's Spaghetti House is everything an Italian restaurant should be, not too big, a few plastic flowers and a bad mural on the wall while not looking like a perfect sitcom set. When we went in Sinatra and Dino were the music of choice and even though I didn't see Michelangelo's David (see Buca Di Beppo review) I knew I was going to like this place.

First Angelo's garlic rolls are worth the trip, hot and fluffy and garlicky. I felt like a smuck asking if we could get another one, then felt like a bigger smuck when I ordered the bruschette and that came on the very same rolls and it was delicious.

I had the Cesar salad, which was good and split a med Pizza Supreme, great crust, tons of cheese and plenty of toppings and just as good cold as I was standing in front of my refrigerator eating a slice at 3:30AM.

I'm glad to see that some major restaurant chain didn't come in and blow Angelo's out of the water. Italian restaurants should be quant little out of the way places that feel like you've got an entire Italian family in the kitchen busting their ass to sever great traditional  Italian food and that's exactly what  Angelo's does.

Oh bread....lovely joyful bread, how I adore thee.
This was my first trip to Angelo's. Since LeCure (fun-tastic) didn't start until 11:00 pm, we waited a little bit past our normal feeding time to eat dinner. By they time we arrived at Angelo's I was completely starving and luckily for me, the bread was at our table in 5 minutes. Wow, was that some good stuff!
The menu was very good and had many choices for all 4 of us (vegetarians)....I had the vegetarian lasagna and everyone else had the eggplant parmesan. Everything at our table was magnificent!
The very sly waiter even convinced us to order the Milky Way Pie, which was just as delicious at it sounds!

I'd put this in between 2-3 stars.

A friend of mine convinced me to go to this place, saying it was the best Italian joint ever. I tend to disagree.

I've been to many hole-in-the-walls and family-run Italian restaurants, and they are just much better. Heck, Olive Garden is better.

The garlic rolls are good, but again, I've had better. You only get about 2. While they are large, not that many to snack on.

I got the lasagna... it was okay. I didn't finish it all, and left over it was even worse. You can get much better quality at other Italian places.

It's not necessarily "bad," but I've had much better.

Service was very prompt and good, however, I will say that.

I'm a sucker for Christmas lights. So the first time I went to Angelo's I was immediately put into a good mood when I saw the place was lit up with them. Overall the restaurant is dimly lit. The main light sources come from little lamps, candles, and Christmas lights, which makes for a good atmosphere in which to play footsies with your date. The walls are a deep red and some are covered in trellises with ivy, and they played some nice Italian music, some of which I recognized and some that I didn't.

The first time I went to Angelo's, my friend and I shared a pizza. It was great: we took the leftovers home with us. The service was also pretty good as was the wine (a merlot). I was also impressed that the prices were pretty decent. I decided that if I ever needed a restaurant to take a date to  - this was the place.

Nine months later, I returned to Angelo's with a date in tow. I called ahead to book a reservation for a "romantic" table. This is not something I normally do, but I thought it would be fun for us to have the cozy romantic table at a dark Italian restaurante'.

So, when we arrived, we had a cozy, dimly-lit booth waiting for us. My date had the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo - which was excellent, and I had the Crab Ravioli. Now, when they set my plate down in front of me, it smelled funky - like bad fish. I had an inner panic flash - what if I get food poisoning? What if I throw-up on my date and he never calls me again? What if the bad-smelling fish makes me poop my pants?

Therefore, it was with much trepidation that I did try the Crab Ravioli - but I did. It tasted OK and I never got sick, but that smell put me off so much that I don't believe I can fairly judge how good the dish actually tasted. However, the Caesar Salads we had before our pasta were fantastic. My Rosemount Merlot from Australia was also really good.

Our waiter was OK. He wasn't great, but he wasn't bad either. The bathrooms were clean, as was the restaurant itself.

Overall, Angelo's is a solid 4 stars. They get points for character, good merlot, and that Caesar Salad. They also get a point for taking the "romantic table" reservation. I would definitely recommend Angelo's' as a good place to take a date and not be completely broke by the end of the night. Just beware the smelly crab-fish.

I read about Angelo's when it was ranked as one of the best neighborhood restaurants by D-Magazine a few years back, so I decided to check it out.

I took my mom and dad to dinner there, and everyone had a more than satisfactory meal.  My dad and I weren't too impressed with our Chianti though.  The bottle was very warm, like it had been stored by the stove by the stove or in a garage or something.  I think the heat damaged the wine because it was kinda gross.  Anyway, the food was standard but pretty tasty.  They have all the typical Italian fare: Manicotti, Tortellini, Ravioli, Lasagna, Pizza, Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan, Veal Picatta, and so forth.  The prices are very reasonable, too.  Seafood and veal entrees are around $15, chicken $14, and pasta $12-14.  There is nothing experimental or trendy on the menu, but everything I've tried has been pleasant and enjoyable.

I wouldn't make a special trip here for pizza.  I found the sausage overpoweringly seasoned with anise, and the crust was heavier and thicker than I prefer.  It wasn't bad, but not worth it when other, better things are available.

The decor is not too sophisticated, but it works.  Think red and white tablecloths, lots of fake plants, Italian scenes painted on the wall, maybe a venus di milo-ish statue...  I ate at a few places in Florence that looked a lot like this.  :)

A word of caution, don't fill up on the rolls and marinara.  It's very tempting to eat them, but they'll sit in your belly like cement later and they will prevent you from saving room for dessert.  Seriously, they're really dense rolls.  I don't know why people love them so much.

If you are in the mood for some good Italian food and some good rolls that aren't too greasy & garlicky... AND you want it brought to your house... Angelos is your man. Err...place.

I've only eaten at the restaurant once, and it was tasty, but certainly wasn't anything to write home about. However, it's often difficult to find places that will deliver tasty food to your door. I mean really, how much pizza & mediocre Chinese food can you have!? Angelos is good. Great pastas... I recommend the Chicken Florentine... but with angel hair pasta. Mmmm It's also good reheated. (Which is always a plus in my book). The salads are good as well. I usually get the vinaigrette dressing. Anyway, sometimes it takes them a little while to get it to you, and be prepared to be charged for everything (50cents per extra roll can really add up!) But it's yummy..... and probably seems yummier just because you don't have to take off your bunny slippers to have it!

OH- one last thing! The most important thing! Jeez how could I forget??? Angelos will even deliver a bottle or two of wine with your dinner. How cool is that? Booze Delivery? Nice.

Finally made it over to Angelo's.  I've lived in Lakewood forever and I've always driven past.  I'm so glad I stopped in.

This is the cutest place ever.  The old jazz music, the warm decor--it all sets a mood. I'm not sure exactly which one, but I know it made me want good Italian food.

When seated they give you a large garlic butter roll with marinara for dipping.  This may be the best basic sauce I've had.  You could really taste the seasoning.  I had the Three Cheese Pasta and my daughter had the Crab Ravioli which is served with a lobster based seafood cream sauce.  I had a little of both, as did she.  Her's was fantastic.  It tasted like they stuffed a smooth textured crabcake inside the ravioli.  The sauce was very buttery and rich.  I'm not a huge lobster fan, so that flavor was a little lost on me.  Mine was exactly what I wanted.  They used gorganzola (the finest of all Italian cheeses), feta and provolone in a cream sauce.  There was so much provolone that every bite litereally had a string of cheese leading back to my mouth...no matter how much I cut.  Do not order that if you're trying to impress your date, unless they like that sort of thing.

The best thing ever was dessert.  They have Milky Way Pie.  Chocolate cookie crust, carmel pie.  I'm serious, this is the best dessert I remember having.  And I don't often skip that course.

The prices are reasonable for what you get, about $15 an entree.  But the atmosphere would make this place a perfect date, casual but pretty.

I hate it when I disagree with Yelpers.  I went for dinner recently and was pretty disappointed.

Firstly, I did love the decor--kitsch is kinda my thang.  We started out with the huuuuge "garlic" rolls.  I do LOVE me some bread, and these rolls were very soft, bready, and doughy.  But...I tasted little to no garlic.  Some of them you could see a speck of something here or there brushed onto the top, but the doughiness overpowered everything.  Also, the marinara was good, but that's just not my preference for dipping sauce for my bread--I prefer olive oil and balsamic.

The caesar side salad came with most of our dishes, and was aight, just some lettuce, croutons, and dressing.  We were not offered any pepper or parmesan.  Not really a big fan of caesar anyway, so it was meh to me.  For my dinner, I had the Pasta Romano--penne pasta with a rich tomato sauce, italian sausage, pepperoni, olives, and roma tomatoes.  It was good, but nothing mind blowing.  I didn't eat much because the rolls were so filling and I wanted to try the bread pudding that everyone raved about.

I also tried my guy's crab ravioli, which was pretty dece but again, nothing mind blowing, and some beef ravioli with half alfredo/half marinara sauce.  I didn't like the beef filling very much.

And the bread pudding...really?  Is it that good?  It was more doughy bread (may have been the same as the rolls) topped with cinnamon flavored cool whip.  Again, it was ALRIGHT, but certainly nothing special--it didn't even have a sauce!!  To me, it was akin to a dry tres leches cake...it still tastes good, but...you're doing it wrong.  Also it was not warm.  Also it was $3.50, and not free.  I thought that sounded too good to be true, Nick K.  Maybe they stopped doing that.

I would definitely give them a try for their lunch buffet at some point though, because it definitely sounds like a great value.  Maybe after the wedding dress diet is over :p

I've been quite a few times for lunch now and every time I forget to bring my Frequent Lunch Card. Seriously, I have stack of them right in front of me.

For their lunch buffet they have a few offerings, but they're all pretty good. Today's visit consisted of their Lasagna, Pork Chops with Gravy, Scalloped Potatoes, Shrimp Penne, Spaghetti Marinara, Lentil Soup, and variety of Pizzas. All were pretty good.

I had to hold back on the Pizzas. I ended up wasting precious stomach real estate by downing 2 Diet Cokes within the first 10 minutes. Doh!

I really enjoy their desserts. I actually look forward to eating them. I had a little bit of their Cookies and Creme, Banana pudding, and Strawberry Shortcake. Mmmmm.

Made it over to Angelos tonight finally! Have heard about this place for a while now.

    CONS:
REALLY QUITE... almost annoying quite. Granted it was a Monday night, but even the Jazz playing over head could not drown out the QUIETNESS. After a few tables filled in it was all good though. However the atmosphere is a little off. It is a quaint, little place - perfect for a date... which this was so it was okay. But it was a little quite and a little awkward.

The Caesar salad was too anchovy for my taste. However it was rich and my date ate it all up. So we are 50/50 on that one. I just thought the Caesar was so so and date loved it.

    PROS:
Great food! Upon arrival you get garlic bread with marina. The marinara tasted good but it wasn't HOT - just kinda warm. It was great though.

Date ordered a pasta with grilled veggies, pepperoni, and Italian sausage with the marinara sauce. It was awesome!

I had a seafood manicotti with shrimp, crab, and scallops with spinach in an awesome cream/rose sauce. The sauce was rich and delicious. Truly great.

I also had a black opal Shiraz with was poured beautifully, aka, more than half the glass - pretty much to the rim. When they mean a glass of wine, they mean a glass of wine which is so not the normal Dallas half of the glass pour! A total PLUS!

Dessert: We ordered bread pudding. AWESOME!!!!! Really really really fantastic. I totally suggest that you order this when you go. In addition to how good it is - ITS FREE!!! Yeah, you read that right. The bread pudding is FREE!!! So why not order it right?

All entrees are priced 12.50 to about 20 and 6.50 for a glass of wine.

Total perfect date night in a great Italian spot! Very Lady and the Tramp romantic. Highly recommend!

Oh, also they have a lunch buffet which is supposed to be GREAT!

This is a great, reasonably priced Italian restaurant. Even better, it is less than 5 minutes from my house! I have dined in the restaurant about 3-4 times and ordered takeout a couple times as well.

They have a wide selection of pastas that incorporate seafood. I've tried the seafood manicotti, which is slathered in a rich white sauce with shredded crab meat. Very good, but so rich and heavy it made me feel like I needed to be carted out on a wagon! Last time I got the plain cheese ravioli with meat sauce, and it did not disappoint. All the servings are HUGE, so it is an easy place to share with a friend or take home leftovers. Their pizzas are also really good; the crust is thick and buttery, and the toppings are fresh.

As good as the rest of the food is, the absolute BEST thing about this place is the freaking garlic rolls they put on the table as soon as you sit down. They come 3 to a basket, served with marinara sauce, and they will keep bringing them until you tell them to stop (which I always have to do or else I will fill up before my meal arrives). Also, they recently started delivering earlier on Sunday - I think they used to open at 5:00 for delivery on Sundays, but now I think it is 11:00. I hear they have a good lunch buffet, and I've been wanting to try their lasagna too. I'll definitely be back. Love it! Go there!

Dustin, the manager, made our evening by having small bouquets of flowers on the table (#12) and providing exceptional customer service.  Our table was ready at the exact time requested.  The Bread Pudding is absolutely divine!!  Of course, the Italian cuisine at Angelo's is always a perfect ending to the day.  Great food and staff!!!!   Keep it up Angelo's -  Lakewood.

This is a cute little neighborhood Italian joint.  I loved the atmosphere -- borderline kitsch but with more taste than that dump known as Bucca di Beppo, and (this time of year) totally decked with Christmas lights and a real, full-size tree!!  Cozy and welcoming.

We were seated at a little two-person table in the very back of the back room (after evicting the toddler who had crawled down from her parents' table and was having a fussy tantrum while fingering all the plates).  I didn't really mind...it just added to the neighborhood feel, and the waiter brought us new plates.  Garlic bread was promptly delivered (standard service), which was nice, although I didn't really taste the garlic.

I ordered the veal piccata.  This is the dish by which I test and compare all Italian restaurants on my first visit.  Sadly, Angelo's failed.  The dish was so soaked in rich butter and cream that I literally felt sick to my stomach after eating a few bites.  I will pretty much force down anything when I'm hungry, but I literally couldn't eat my dinner.  Weak stomach?  Maybe.  Still, in Italy, they don't even know what butter is...so any dish that even uses butter is hardly authentic, and a dish that's SOAKED in it is downright appalling.  If I had liked it, this would have been a 5-star review...but I just can't give 5 stars to a place where I wasn't even able to stomach my meal.

The boyfriend liked his dish (chicken capri, I think), but I was feeling too sick to even taste his.  I wasn't coming down with the flu or food poisoning or anything like that...I sat and sucked on peppermints (the natural stomach soother!) while he ate, and I was feeling good enough by the time he was done to take a stab at the bread pudding.

As I've mentioned before, I make the world's best bread pudding.  No, I'm serious, the world voted.  Well, at any rate, my friends can't get enough of it and are always begging me to bake it.  So, I try bread pudding wherever I go to see if anything has surpassed the recipe I invented over the course of three years.  Angelo's bread pudding came close, but in the end it was too dense -- there was none of that fluffy quality to it.  Still, the flavor was fantastic, and I was crazy about the cinnamon whipped cream (?) that they poured on top.  My next mission is to recreate that.  Mmmm.

I actually loved the service here -- just my style.  They seated us, then actually gave us enough time to look at the wine list (shocker!) before asking what we'd like to drink.  The waiter kept his distance, checked in at least once during each course (every dish comes with a salad), and made sure our glasses were always filled without being overbearing.  That may have been due to our location in the very back.  Whatever the reason, the service was excellent.  Thanks for giving us some space!!

Prices were most reasonable.  I'd be willing to give this place a second shot -- just stay away from the veal piccata.

Well, I think Angelo's deserves a 3.5, really - but I have very fond memories there, and I'm feeling sentimental today.

The service probably pushed the stars down more than I'd like...the BF and I went on a weeknight, and our server acted as though he was slammed.

The restaurant gets points for quality of food and overall vibe. As Rickster so eloquently put it, "the most appropriate description is 'cheesy Italian.'" And in a great way! Also - it was relatively quiet, considering we were sitting close to several other tables, and I appreciated that.

Our red wine (I totally forget which kind of wine it was...but I'm sure it was red) was decent.

I would say that this is your go-to spot for a weeknight when you're craving decent pasta for a fair price.
