Simply the best pizza I have found in the Nashville area. It is NY style and it is delicious in every way. They even have a daily buffet!
It is a small, hole in the wall feel place and that just makes it better in my opinion. You will not be disappointed, unless you are looking for one of those NASTY deep dish pizzas.

I thought I'd already done a review for Angelo's, but apparently I have not.  Anywhoo, here ya go. We were turned on to this place by a friend who was simply suggesting a local joint near the dollar theater in Antioch. We've only been here three times in total, but have had a fantastic experience every time. The first time we were in a hurry to get a meal in before a movie at the dollar theater. Our waitress busted it to get our food out to us quickly. We both got calzones (pepperoni for the hubs and spinach for me). We really could have shared ONE with the entire Duggar family...they are HUGE! Each came with a generous serving of marinara sauce for dipping.

The second time we took some friends who were visiting and the experience was the same. Great service, delicious food! I ordered the eggplant parmesan (some of the best I've ever had) and the hubs ordered stromboli I think. Again, the portions were a bit silly. Roll me out of here, silly.

The last time was with family and friends and it was lunch time. We decided to try the pizza and just grabbed two slices a piece from the lunch buffet. Pretty stinkin' good! $8 for two people? Yes, please! We'll definitely be going back for some of that action.

If you are looking for affordable AND delicious Italian cuisine...stop in here. Save the "$5 Hot 'n Ready" for another time. Do yourself a favor and spend a dollar or two more for quality. You'll thank me later!

Seriously, this is just like NYC pie. It reminds me of pizza places I used to go to in queens. The crust is right, though sauce is good and the cheese is also. Fuck, they even have good garlic knots. The guys in the place seemed pretty cool, and its only like a buck more for than shitty chain pizza like papa johns and the likes. This is the only pizza I'll be eating in the pizza abyss known as tennessee.

I tried their regular pie and the pesto. The pesto was pretty good, but the regular was much better. I'll definitely be eating regular next time, I might give  their Sicilian a shot also. I have never had good Sicilian pie anywhere outside of NYC.

It doesn't hurt that they have a palermo scarf hanging in the place either.

Pizza tasted great.  Friendly staff.  Love the "hole in the wall" feel of the facility. Still, I don't like the line on the receipt for a tip.  Who am I tipping?  There was no waiter.

They import the water to make their dough from NY! Don't believe me? Then try it and tell me why the heck its the best NY style pie in the Nashville area. I've been going to Picnic Pizza for at least 7 years and there was only 1 time I can recall that the pie didn't taste the same and that was during the drought of 2008 when water from NY wasn't readily available. So I give em a pass.
When my wife and I moved to this side of town the first thing that popped in my head was "I'm close to Picnic Pizza, I'm close to Picnic Pizza!" Used to drive 45 mins to eat there. I know these may be fighting words to some but,,,,,Forget Sals, Mannys, Joeys, Nicks, Mafiaozas,  Mineos, Pie in the Sky, Amicos, Pizza Perfect, and NY Pie. This place is the king of NY style. Cause they import the water, duh.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Angelo's Pizza.  I oughta' be shot for this.  I love this place.  They got the BEST mushroom sicilian pizza in town.   OMG! and Nick (the owner) is da' bom!  Don't expect a lot when it comes to the place.  It's a pizza joint.

These guys are from NY (ok, don't kill me - it's either Queens or Brooklyn), but my hubby found this place while he was searching for the best pizza place in town.  He's born and raised in NY, so he knows about pizza.  He hit it off with the owners right away and we've been fans for over 4 years now.  He says the best pizzas are the ones that you can fold in half and eat sideways....?  I don't know, it's a New York thing, but my fav' is still the sicilian square slices.  Hubby calls it a "pie" and says it's all in the dough and the sauce.

I never had the buffet, but I hear a lot of people like it.  Price is definitely great.

There you are.  You gotta' check out Angelo's and ask for Nick.  Tell them the Jacksons sent you and don't forget to try the energy drink while you're there.  ;)

I'm not sure what else I could say here about Angelo's that hasn't already been said. I've been told by people from Philadelphia that this is "authentic New York style pizza;" I can't vouch for it personally, but it is some damn fine pizza.

The atmosphere is perfect. I say that because it reminds me of the Mom and Pop pizza parlors I grew up with around the Tennessee area that have all but went the way of the Dinosaur. Seating could be limited on a busy day, but the wait staff is very friendly.

The prices are a little higher than the chain pizza places (Papa John's, Pizza Hut, etc.) but I can say that when it comes to their food it is more about the value than the cost. Sometimes all you want is a nice, greasy slice of pizza and a cold beer... and when nothing else will do, you'll find yourself quite disappointed with the chain stores.

Anyhow... check it out, if you're in the area. I know I will be a return visitor.

I recently adjusted my rating to Angelo's because they are just too inconsistent. I have had a couple of great pizzas from Angelo's but most have been mediocre... it's a shame they can't get a better grip on consistency.

Next to Manny's House of Pizza, this place has the #2 pizza in town in my opinion. The Pizza is really good it just isn't consistent. It's almost like a different pizza each time I go. Granted it is usually always a good pizza. The buffet is the best Pizza buffet in town though. They offer a lot of different types and styles of pizza, not just the same ole standbys. They also have salad and other pastas, chicken etc on the buffet. A great little gem of a restaurant.

What else is there to say about Angelo's Picnic Pizza except that they sling some of the best pie here in NashVegas.

Granted, the dcor isn't fancy, and the seating is limited, but the chicken Alfredo pizza is totally worth the drive.  Add some sun dried tomatoes, and you've got yourself a slice of pure heaven, baby.

From the checkered table cloths to the Italian owners from New York, everything about Angelo's reeks of authenticity and a home-grown atmosphere.  And the pizza certainly reinforces that image.  From perfect crusts to just the right amount of grease, you probably won't get a slice better than this south of NYC.

Do you work in the area?  Then count yourself lucky.  There's a lunch time buffet that can't be beat.  For $5.75, you can enjoy all the pizza that you can eat, six days a week, from 11AM - 2PM.

Extra hungry?  Well, then, order yourself up a Cadillac.  It's a double-crusted, meat loaded symphony of overloaded flavor.

One word of caution, though.  When they say everything here is made fresh, they mean it.  So, a times, be a bit prepared to wait for your pie.

We were in town from Texas and luckily found about about Angelo's through yelp. My husbands Stromboli was fabulous - my house salad and veggie pizza was terrific! RECOMMEND for sure =)

What!? Are you kidding me? It's like taking a teleporter to NYC. Starting with the amazingly authentic pizza and ending with the simple neighborhood pizza joint decor. I argue that Angelo's pizza is AS good as Manny's/Joey's, but if you MADE me pick a pizza I would begrudgingly pick the latter. BUT when you take into account the personnel I choose Angelo's because they defy the NY attitude by making everyone who walks in the door feel like family.

They are not the pizza in the world but they are the best in Antioch that we have tried. They use canned mushrooms on their pizza. I think they deliver now. The  price is very reasonable.

i agree fully with james r's assessment of this antioch treasure. the pizza here is almost peerless, the freshness screams in your mouth (with a new york accent, no less!) with each bite. truly transcendent stuff.

I found this place as a fluke and what a fortunate accident it was. A friend of mine and I came across it during the lunch buffet, which consists of three to four different pizzas (mostly New York style), the same number of pastas, a stromboli and a salad bar. It was all under $10 a person. The pizza was great but not fantastic, I didn't try the pasta but he salad bar was much better than I had expected.  The only complain is that the garlic bread was cold. The staff is extremely outgoing and friendly. It seemed to have a local crowd but I loved how quiet and tucked out of the way it is. I'd love to go back and get a pizza to go. Next time... :)

This is one of those places that I would not have stopped at if I weren't going there on a friend's suggestion. We had the lunch buffet and I was surprised at the quality of the pizza. I would definitely recommend it.

This pizza is incredible!  Angelo is great and will talk to anyone about the old neighborhood.  I moved to Ohio, but when I am back in Nashville I will be there.
