Sadly, the food doesn't live up to the reputation. The bread is lousy, a bad start to any dinner in an italian restaurant. They serve their burgundy wine chilled, a nice touch. But the food? Yuk. I had veal parmigiana. The veal tasted as if it had been cooked three days in advance. The red sauce is no better than what you'd get in a second-rate diner. My friend's pasta and meatballs were ok, but once again, the meatballs tasted like they were cooked days ago and reheated.  If you know good Italian food, you will be disappointed.  And by the way, the prices are competitive, but no bargain.

This is my favorite place to eat in AC - great food, reasonably priced. It's basically an institution.

If I could I would give 4.5 stars, deducting for sometimes longish waits on summer weekends and the panhandler perpetrating to be some sort of valet in the lot across from it....man that dude bugs the shit out of me!

This place is an Atlantic City staple. It has character, the service is good and when it comes to the food, well let's just say the Lobster Ravioli is one of the best things on the menu. It is hard not to order it every time I go there, because it is so good. I love all the history hanging on the walls of the family pictures, old Atlantic City and the Italian heritage.
I would go if you are in town. Parking is easy and it is close to the Walk, the convention center and the casinos.
    Enjoy...

I had a very bad experience Angelo's recently.

Unfortunately I didn't have an opportunity to try the food at Angelo's because they apparently didn't want my business.

My husband and I were planning on meeting my mother and brother, who live in AC, for a weekday lunch along with our 3 month old daughter while we were passing through town to see other family elsewhere for Easter.

We arrived at Angelo's before my mother and brother and upon entering (through the bar area) with my baby in her carrier, we were gruffly addressed by a rough looking woman behind the bar. She asked how many of us and we said there were 2 more coming (they would've arrived about 5 minutes later).

The woman pointed to a sign by the door and grunted that they don't seat incomplete parties.

Having never been there before we didn't realize what type of joint this is (maybe not so family friendly), but we heard the food is good and it wasn't like it was a busy dinner hour or anything.

Now, I completely understand this policy during busy times and during dinner and they're perfectly within their rights to have this policy all the time.

However, 1) it was a weekday lunch--the restaurant was not full and we would've begun ordering some appetizers and drinks while we waited for my family, 2) we had a baby with us and would've appreciated the extra time to get settled.

My husband kindly asked the woman if they could please just seat us so that we could get settled with the baby and that the rest of our party was coming soon and she basically snarled "no."

Again, they can have whatever policy they want and treat people however they want, but either way it was rude and it's bad business on their part.

After waiting in the bar (full of construction workers and such on their lunch break) for a minute, a little shocked at the rough treatment, we turned around and walked out (my husband was fuming--where did she get off being such a bitch?) and gave our money to another local restaurant.

I guess we'll never know if their food is good or not.

Another great recommendation from my business partner.  Of course, he grew up in AC and this joint has been around forever.  When I said I wanted to have authentic Italian food, he immediately suggested we go here.

He ordered 3 appetizers for dinner.....Spinach & Artichoke, Mussels w/Marinara Sauce, and Calamari....see pics for the size of the Calamari, it looks like onion rings!  I had the Manicotti & Sausage....it was amazingly good.  The bread was awesome too.....and to wash it all down we ordered 2 carafes of their house red wine.

After dinner, we headed down to the bar and caught the 1st period of the Flyers/Blackhawks Stanley Cup Finals game.

Will I come back?  The words for this trip are....Fuh-getta 'bout it!

Great restaurant!!!  Has a lot of character!  The service from our waiter was not the best-  he didn't ask if we wanted refills or second drinks but the food was amazing!

Upon arriving to celebrate my sister's birthday, I realized that the joint is definitely happening. Wow! There is no shortage of testosterone near the bar. In fact, the bar has urinal surrounding it!

However, as a vegetarian (and a woman), I had limited options. In fact, I was even a bit confused about what my options were. The menu lists "Pasta-bilities", but only includes the types of pasta with the recommended sauce/meat. The sauce/meat compliments are not listed as individual options, so one must really inquire if you would like alternatives. For example, the gnocchi is listed with a sausage/meatball selection. I had to ask if there was an alternate sauce. Why not just call it "Possibilities" and actually list all of the sauces/pastas available!?!

I ordered the gnocchi and cream sauce (at the expense of my own Sherlocking). My food was decent, but not the greatest. The gnocchi did not taste like it was freshly made on the premises. It reminded me of frozen gnocchi available from the grocer for $4.99. The sauce was decent - not mind blowing.

I would give this place three and half stars, if I could, because the restaurant is very attractive and the staff is super friendly. The house wine is also very good and available for a decent price.

Contrary to popular opinion, sometimes good things happen when you pick up a Chance card and try a place outside the casinos in AC.  One spot is White House for cheesesteaks.  Another is this neighborhood place that's closer to the expressway than the boardwalk.

Recommended by my friend's casino host, this Italian restaurant has a sprawling bar in the front and several dining rooms spread throughout the place.

The menu is more focused on protein than pasta with a wide selection of fish, veal, chicken, and steak.

The seafood apps we tried were all strong. The fried calamari had a tasty seasoning.  The raw oysters were cheap (6 for under $10) and big - not great by any means but fresh with a nice salty/briny taste.  The shrimp were jumbo and fresh - but I'd get the first two over the shrimp cocktail.

I went with a steak cooked Sicilian style (seasoned cast-Iron pan) topped with peppers and onions.  Nice size (16 oz.).  Nice flavor (had a little heat in the seasoning).  For less than $30 (w/ a side of pasta), it was a bargain compared to the average steakhouse these days.  Everyone else's dishes looked really good as well.

    Worth checking out...

The food is good but don't try to ask for anyting not on the menu other than switching pastas, because you won't get it. I asked for baked garli and the waitress looked at me like I was asking for baklava. In any case, I must say that I always eat here when I come to ac. The food is good but pricey for spaghetti. I like the fact that its huge and no matter what time of day, I can always get a seat. Wayyy better than any buffet in ac.

This is a classic old world, old school Italian restaurant in the heart of Atlantic City, just steps from the overrated White House (hint: come here instead for a very nice meal). We came for a lunch/dinner after a Confirmation, and it was great! We had the upper room which held about 100. Service was top notch, and the food.....everything tasted like it was homemade. Make sure you try the fried ravioli. You'll die...well, you won't die but you'll feel like you went to culinary heaven.

i went with a huge group and we loved it.  the house bread is so good!  all entrees come with a family style salad and the house dressing is tasty and veggies are fresh.  for my main i got lobster ravioli one of the days specials...it came with an entire tail on top! the house wine is also really good and they totally break wine etiquette and fill the carafes to the top, thank you!  i can't wait to go back!

I grew up here, well not at the restaurant but I've been coming here for a long time. I feel like the quality of the food has declined. On a saturday night  they had a high-school graduation upstairs. We heard all of thumping and music it was not the ideal ambiance I was hoping for. Besides that it wasn't anything spectacular.

If you're tired of the same old casino buffet ritual ( a trap that all of us seem to give in to at some point when visiting Atlantic City)  try walking a few blocks from Trump Plaza or Caesars to Angelos.  The lunch menu is so incredibly inexpensive that two people can eat for under twenty five bucks. That includes appetizer, entree, and beverage.  For the price, it's a good alternative to stuffing ones self at the $25 a head casino buffet. You'll eat for half the price, and you won't feel like the Pillsbury dough boy. The walk back is  also a good after lunch mini workout. Atlantic City has some really good off the boardwalk restaurants, many of which have been around for decades.

Not a bad place for Italian in AC, but I've had both better food and service. I have to say, though, their bruschetta is off the hook and I definitely recommend it. If you're staying around the Trump Plaza area this is a prett easy walk to reach.

Everything was delicious. There was plenty of free bread and salad. The portions were quite sizable. A bit out of the way but a good meal that gets the most bang for you buck. A nice escape from the gimmicky Atlantic city restaurants.

They're accommodating with special requests (my boyfriend has dietary restrictions and this is his favorite place to eat in AC) and I had a seafood pasta special that was pretty effing delicious. I don't know... sure there's probably better Italian places but when it comes to Italian food, it really is what YOU like best, right?

I stop here for lunch a couple times a year.  The food is authentic italian and is pretty good.  If you want fancy pricy meal, go to the casino, if you want a good italian meal for a decent price come here.  I usually get a glass of the house wine with my meal.  I think it is hilarious that there is a tap on the wall for the house wine, but it is still pretty good to me.

I went to Angelo's with a group while in AC for the Triple Play REALTORS Convention (http://realtorstriplep...). We had the whole third floor to ourselves - beautiful, open dining space. The veal parmesan was good, as was my tiramisu. I didn't have a chance to try the house wines but I hear they're very good.

A long awaited visit to this Atlantic City institution - a Landmark for over 70 years was a disaster.  The one star is because the server and bartender were very nice.  The highly recommended Lobster Ravioli with the 6 oz piece of dried out lobster on top is their best seller - inedible.  From the highly touted Italian Foods - we chose the Lasagna.  We were warned that it had lots of meat - but dried out, unseasoned, gritty chopped beef with little or no cheese and sauce only on top - I am 65 years old and most of my friends are of Italian origin - I have never had lasagna prepared in this manner.  My husband and I switched plates and decided not to eat.  The food was wrapped and we deposited it in the first garbage can on the Garden State Parkway North.  The salad and bread were not much better.  I would like to invite Angelo, the chef or someone from this place to dinner in northern NJ or Arthur Ave. to taste how Italian food should be prepared.  Have a sub from the White House around the corner - much cheaper and much better!

Save your money and go to a good Italian eatery! (Not this one)

My partner and I go out to dinner often both in the Atlantic city area as well as other cities. Deciding on Italian food we decided to try Angelos.

The place is very large. We had a couple of drinks at the old time bar. We were seated in one of their many dining rooms. The atmosphere is nothing different than any other Italian restaurant.

My partner ordered the Large Rib Eye steak special plus to start the meal he ordered the mussels. I ordered the Lasagna.

Waitress was busy and seemed not to be on top of her game. The mussels were good plus the bread she brought over was decent. Well, that was about it when it comes to enjoyment.

My Lasagna came. How bad can someone in the profession cook Lasagna? Well folks, this was by far the WORSE pasta meal I have had in many many years. The   noodle was dried out, the beef, and I am not exaggerating was so over cooked, dry that the beef was like Pebbles. Horrid! I had two bites and I just could not fathom eating more of this garbage. My partners steak came, nice size steak. Well it should be for 30+ dollars. The steak was decent but for some reason the kitchen topped it off with melted thick cheese and veggies. Partner scrapped off the junk and ate the steak.

I sat, and sat waiting for the waitress to recognize that I was having trouble eating the Lasagna. She came about 15 minutes later in which time she did not even have the professionalism to seek out why the entire plate of deathly dried out Lasagna was still sitting on the plate.

There are so many good Italian places to eat in Atlantic City. I can not, in good faith ever suggest anyone go to this over touristy place. Disgusting, inedible food.

I wish I was able to give zero stars.  I have eaten some bad food in my life but this was by far the worse.  We had high expectations when we walked in.  The place was crowded, had a long wait and it smelled good.  Ordered the calamari for an app.  It was obviously frozen before and it should never be that large, they were the size of onion rings and not cooked properly; because they were frozen?  They bring out a house salad for the table, it was drowning in what they called house dressing which wasn't good and you couldn't eat the salad because of how much dressing they put on it.  The waitress told us they were known for there meatballs.  So the table ordered a bunch of entree's with meatballs.  I couldn't put my fork through it.  It was burned on the outside and so dry, I didn't think you could actually cook a meatball so dry even if you tried.    No body at our table ate any food and the waitress did not pick up on the fact that we didnt eat or she knows how bad the food is.

Everyone agreed, this was the worst meal we have ever eaten but what made it worse is that so many people recommended it and think this place is good.  I have had better food at the hot dog cart on the boardwalk.
