WOO HOO! Best Place In TOWN! Tri Tip sandwich is SCRUMPTIOUS! ...if you're a little on the hungrier side, then perhaps upgrading the amount of meat you get....TOTALLY WORTH IT! Great place to come in and "Watch the game" at with the THREE flat screen TV's all around with DIRECT TV!! woo hoo!!

GREAT FOR A COLLEGE STUDENT BUDGET! as well as being able to provide the portions for a Family dinner night as well at a really affordable price :)

I am currently out of the area, and every time I make a stop in Camarillo, the first place I hit is ANGELO's...not Olas, not In-n-Out....ALWAYS ANGELO's!!

Tucked back in the corner next to Hobby People and behind the Habit and Baja, you can  enjoy outdoor/indoor eating areas, AMAZING staff!!, and a truly delicious new spot in town :)

GO TRY ANGELO'S! IT'S THE NEW RAGER IN CAMARILLO!!!

My husband tried this place for the first time and he said he thought it tasted pretty good.  He ordered the tri-tip with tortillas, beans and french fries.  He even gave me a bite of his fries dipped in BBQ sauce and I thought it was quite tasty too.  Well, he thought it taste good going in but 6 hours later he woke up puking his brains out.  He had the worst case of food poisoning I had ever seen.  It was awful.
He swears he will never go again.  He was so bothered by this incident that he checked online at the Ventura County Health Department only to find that this business had sanitation violations in the past. Yuk!
I hope that they get their act together so others won't have to write this type of review.

2 stars: Meh. I've experienced better.

When I think BBQ, I think smoky, tender, flintstones bronto-sized  ribs, savory tangy sauces, and heaping portions of meat, slaw, and sides.

Maybe I'm spoiled from having eaten great BBQ all over Texas and the Midwest, but BBQ done right is a happy day indeed.

Went there to check it out, as I always am game to try out a BBQ joint. We had some tri tip, some chicken, a little mix of this and that to sample the menu and see what the place is all about.

The food's not terrible. It won't make a top 50 list any time soon in terms of flavor, but the real problem here is the portion size vs. cost.

For what they charge, they need to multiply the portion size by about 2.5.

How this place keeps its doors open is a mystery to me.

I'm not a competitive eater, or a slob, but I like to see a heaping plate when I plunk down some decent bucks for 'cue.

BBQ is not high brow, expensive food. It's good food at a good price served by good people. It's homey food that feels like a summer get together with friends and family.

When people charge a lot and give you a little, you don't feel like a friend. You feel a little cheated, and that's not how you want to set the table before a meal.

I can't imagine coming here on a regular basis.

Check it out if you've already eaten every BBQ joint in Ventura county and need the notch on your belt. Otherwise, save your money. The Habit is in the same strip mall, and their steak sandwich with bbq sauce will be just as satisfying.

Never been to "Great steak and potato" (place it previously was), but anyways. I was on my way to the habit, for a good 'ol double char burger w/ swiss. Then noticed this new place while driving into the parking lot. I thought, hell, have often do I have the habit? (too often). I found my self inside angelo's after contemplating for a few moments.

Over all nice environment inside, has sort of a "tiki" theme going on. They display their menu on some nice widescreen televisions, and have a pretty simple menu, feauturing dishes with...you guessed it, chicken and/or tri-tip. Employee's were very nice and inviting. Wait time was not too long at all.

I went for the tri-tip burrito, standard as-is. Also asked for some extra salsa on the side..
The burrito was a respectable size, beans were not mushy, which I loved. I really enjoyed they're special diced tomato sauce they put in with it, and the tri-tip, not bad. Flavorful, moist, not too fatty. Good enough for me!

Only thing I could suggest be of better quality, would have to be the tortilla used, I don't know what it was, but I wish it had more flavor, better texture.. I understand the tortilla is a critical part to a burrito, but all that was contained inside was tasty enough to still enjoy my lunch there.

Would definitely consider going back again if I'm in the area, but will not go out of my way to drive out there from oxnard. (Sorry, too much good competition out here, as far as burritos go)
Hope they continue a successful business.

I would have taken a picture of the lunch I just finished but I pretty much inhaled it.

Me and 2 of the girls at work called in our lunch order, hung up and headed over from Mission Oaks.  Our food was ready on arrival and still warm when we got back.  2 of us ordered the 1/4 Chicken Meal and one got a Chicken burrito.   All 3 of us are full and happy!

The food wasn't greasy or smothered in sauce (a plus for me because I hate smothered food!).  I'm not typically a fan of beans, but I enjoy them at Angelos.  The staff is always very pleasant and the place is clean.  Prices are reasonable and are displayed on  their menu board of 2 flat screen TVs (cool points for that).

    BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!

    Pros:
-Great customer service, it felt almost like family.
-They portion out the food, you order what you want and pay for what you want.
    -Tri-tip was good.
-Fast BBQ if you don't have time for a sit down type of place where you wait and wait. This is not bad for a quick bite and still fairly priced okay.

    Cons:
    -The menus is repetitive.
    -Too many teeny boppers loitering.

This place is clean and they seem to be busy each time I go in. The staff is great, they are all about customer service. I will always go to Angelo's.

We normally get the family meal. Oh wow, there is lots of food (we've always had left over for lunch the next day)...either 2 whole chickens or 2 lbs of tri tip or a comination of the two, plus 2 sides, and tortillas. We always get the combo, the chicken is cooked properly and full of flavor, and same goes for the tri tip. The spud (potato) salad, rice, and beans (more like a chili) is also good.

If the owners of Angelo read this: what about making some salsa to go with the chicken?!

We've decided to eat here instead of overpriced El Pollo Loco, although El Pollo Loco has a different flavor to their rice and chicken.

I go to this place all the time. The food is always yummy, fresh, and the staff is always nice to me!

The chicken is moist and the tri tip juicy and flavorful. Their beans are really good too. I really like the different sauce choices too!

    Great food for lunch!

Was a little disappointed by my plain ol' meat and bread sandwich. But if you're into that kind of sandwich (and many people are), this might be your place. It did the trick, but I'd definitely order differently next time. If there is a next time...

I dropped by for lunch. This is a nice, friendly fast casual place with friendly people and a surfer theme. It's got the Beach Boys playing in the background, surfboards along the wall, tropical-styled prints and colors everywhere, and even signs on the bathrooms labeled "Dudes" and "Chicks" with cartoon facials of the associated gender of cow.

If you don't want chicken or tri-tip, it's too bad because that's in every entree I remember seeing. They have chicken or tri-tip as pieces, in sandwich form, or in burritos. I got the Around the Shack, which had 1/4 chicken and 1/4 lb. of tri-tip, corn or flour tortillas, and two sides -- for me, rice and cole slaw. I'd suggest going for dinner instead, because they don't have lunch prices, so it's like $6 for the 1/4 chicken and sides or 1/4 lb. tri-tip and sides, or about $8.50 for the around the shack, before tax.

The tri-tip was very good -- savory, juicy, not the greatest tri-tip I've ever eaten but a lot better either than it looked or than I expected from a place like this. The chicken, on the other hand, was completely unbelievable. The marinading job on this was absolutely perfect. I didn't even realize that regular, old pieces of chicken could taste this good. The sides were great, too -- not a single bad piece of food in this entire place.

They have some nice tables and a counter on the inside, and more tables on the outside. It's very clean and professionally kept, but I'd prefer if it weren't so dark on the inside, especially considering the sunny nature of the surfer theme they're trying to pull.

Customer service was good but food was no more than food you can get at high school football game, overpriced and underflavored. I got the tritip it was bread and some slices of meat it looked like someone stepped on it before I ate it.

A completely different chain restaurant was here (Great Steak and Potato Company) before this new chain restaurant came into existence.

It's weird to see the old restaurants go down, just for another one to quickly take over in it's shell. It's always just intriguing to me to see how the "new place" looks after the shell of the older restaurant gets a major facelift.

I ordered a "Around The Shack" which came with 1/4 chicken and 1/4 pound of tri-tip that comes with flour or corn tortillas, and two sides (rice, beans, potato salad, or coleslaw). I ordered it with the corn tortillas (basic, nothing special), with rice (didn't try it, gave it up for lent), and beans (which were OK, nothing special). The chicken was "steam" cooked? So, it was a little rubbery for me. I finally know what rubbery chicken tastes or doesn't taste like, since it was bland. The tri-tip, threw me off. Why? When you grill an entire Tri-tip, and when you slice it, it normally doesn't have grill marks on the individual slices. How did that happen? Did they paint it on? Did they re-grill it? The tri-tip was moist, but lacked seasoning. They do offer sauces for you to add to your food, but honestly, food should come seasoned enough that you don't need some extra sauce. That's just my two cents. If I had a longer lunch break, I would have made the drive to Oxnard for some Pollo Norteno, but alas, that's not the case.

My meal with drink, was about $12 and change. If it was worth it, I wouldn't complain, but seriously, this was barely worth over $5. I'm sad to say, I will not be making another visit here again. Even if someone else paid.

Sign on the door implies they've gone out of business. Unfortunate - I'm going to miss the massive burritos and excellent tri-tip.

Sad to say this place won't last.  I had kept their coupons for a while and couldn't wait to try out a new place in Camarillo, since a good restaurant here is tough to find.  Stopped by for a simple tri-tip sandwich and was very disappointed.  Thought that since it was their specialty it would be moist and amazingly seasoned.  Had no seasoning that I could taste, was tough with grissle running through.  I kept having to chew and chew and then finally had to spit it out or choke.  You literally have one chinzy layer of tri-tip and very dry.  You have to add your own BBQ sauce to the sandwich.  It literally comes with the meat, (bland) and the bun (which I really liked).  The small amount of tortilla chips it comes with was also disappointing.  Not the amount, but they tasted like they bought them at Smart-n-Final or something.  Straight outta the bag kinda plastic-y chips.  A small bit of salsa that was actually pretty good accompanied the chips.  I really wanted this to be the amazing tri-tip, chicken BBQ place I thought it'd be.. kinda like Thousand Oaks Meat Locker... Not the case.. My advice to them would be to slow.. slow...BBQ their meat like Wood Ranch does.. (overnight) and get that melt in your mouth (non-chewy) meat that is seasoned and calling us back for more.  If the owners are reading this, please try the T.O. Meat locker and compare and maybe Wood Ranch.  It would be soo nice to have a place that you can pop into quickly like this, without having to wait like Wood Ranch.. So get your act together!  So you can stay!

Loved the menu on the big screen TV's and the place is really clean!

I will try it one more time to give them a second chance review!  Hope
    they change!
