This location has recently opened, in fact they still have the sign for the pizza shop it replaced over the door, but after hearing that it opened, we decided to give it a try and it looks like we have another option to choose from.

For some reason, Shirlington is a Bermuda Triangle of good pizza delivery.  After the closure of the Bailey's Crossroads Joe's Pasta and Pizza, we're out of the delivery range of Valentino's and the Joe's up on Lee Highway.  True, Lost Dog has opened a new location, but while their pizza is better than average, it's a little pricey for what you get and their sandwiches are better.  That only leaves the chain pizza delivery places like Papa John's, Pizza Hut and Domino's, which can hardly be called pizza when one grew up in New Jersey on real pizza from mom and pop shops.  We had high hopes for Z Pizza, but they don't seem to have their act together on delivery.

While there is a table and chairs, the shop is short of space and I don't know if you'd want to eat there.  We stopped in for carry out  and were able to get a two topping large 14" pizza for $8.99 and we were happy with the result.  We got extra cheese, half pepperoni, half meatball.  Often times, when you order extra cheese you get the sense that they really don't add any more than usual, but in this case it was piled on, they were generous with the pepperoni and the meatballs were real meatballs, not ground beef.  The crust was a little doughy, but I happen to like that as opposed to thin crust, and the pizza was perfectly sauced and baked, the cheese was browned just enough and the pepperoni was nice and crisp.

While we can't form a hard and fast opinion off of one pizza, we were happy enough with our first experience to go back and try other things on the menu.  There are a variety of salads, gourmet topping options, sandwiches, calzones (which seem a little expensive), and desserts to try and if they're as good as the pizza was, I'm glad to have a new pizza delivery option.

Ordered from here first time. Will never order again! Opened up the box and all the cheese had slid off the pizza onto the side. Attempt to place back on and eat, did not taste good at all. Terrible. :(

I ordered take out - a small margarita pizza and a small greek salad.  The pizza was OK.  It had a TON of basil on it, too much for my taste, so I ended up scraping a lot off.  The pizza really was not bad, but I think I will order a cheese pizza next time.   The salad was a good size, and was nice and fresh.
Only three stars this time, but I will definitely order again from this restaurant to give it another try.  They have other sandwiches and salads and pizzas that I want to try.  It's definitely a nice change from the regular papa johns, dominos, etc.

This place is not closed...they just changed the name.  The owner apparently was tired of paying for the Angelico franchise name.  The same phone number will work to place your order.

Having said that, since the name-change the food is no longer good!  We used to eat here at least once a week when it was Angelico's and it was high-quality Italian food.  Now?  Not so much.

Sadly won't be ordering here again.

I live in Shirlington and so far this is the best option for pizza delivery I found. We ordered the spinach artichoke pizza and it was loaded with veggies and feta...very yummy.  Do NOT order the boneless chicken tenders.  I wouldn't even eat one--they were the kind you get with a kids meal at McDonalds and they looked disgusting.  I'm sure some people might like that but it's not what I expect out of an item advertised as chicken tenders.
