This was my first time here and we came in on a weekday so it wasn't busy.  The waitress came over right away and got our drink order.  We both had the Fettuccine Alfredo and the portions were very very large and very cheap.  Plus it was really good!  We were able to use Eagle bucks too if you are a student at American.

I would def. come back again!

This place is great for a quick lunch. They have a variety of $4 a silce pizza option which is great because the slices are huge. But as far as the other entrees, I'd have to agree with Laura Z. Angelico's is nothing special. Their lasagna, pasta, sandwiches, and calzones taste much reminiscent of Olive garden.

Their eat-in service is ridiculous. You could very well end up waiting almost 30 minutes for a pizza, pasta, or entree dish. They often have lots of students in the place just scrounging and lounging, so seating can be limited also.

Their pizza's are very tasty. They aren't made with those pizza hut frozen crusts, so you can actually taste the nice light olive oil based dough. You can also order things like eggplant, feta, portobello, and of course all the meats. Their sandwiches aren't bad either but stay away from the wraps....Truly tasteless and just blah!

Like I said, I highly recommend these guys for a quick fresh fast meal. You can save money by splitting something with a friend or co-worker as some of their prices have risen recently to match sit down restaurants in the area like Ruby Tuesdays and Guapos. Their delivery is pretty fast and prompt to when you order on the phone.

Not having anything to cook and not wanting Thai food left me in quite the predicament.  What will we eat?!  Well, not wanting to leave the apartment limited the options, and most delivery pizza around is pretty crappy, so I decided to give Angelico's a shot.

Being able to order online is a big plus, but paying $23 for an XL pizza with 3 toppings seems excessive.  Should have just ordered two 2 Amy's pizza's to go and paid a tiny bit more.

The pizza came hot and fresh but the crust is pretty thick and really not that great.  The pizza is average, nothing great, nothing bad, but the caramelized onions we ordered, were not really caramelized.

I probably wont order from this place again unless I'm in a pinch, but I'll stick to take out from Vace.

Pros: huge portions of pasta, pizza is ok, calzones are great, good for a date or small dinner.
cons: pizza/ entres are pricey, the lavash rolls are AWFUL, and sometimes the food is just bland. Really slow service on occasion as well.
If you go here, I'd recommend splitting a calzone or pasta( the pesto or alfredo with chicken is around 12 dollars!! but enormous/ delicious) or taking half home.

4 stars for what it is. What did they wow me with? Amazing selection of pizzas, sauces, toppings, veggies, cheeses, etc. And the rest of their menu is great also...calzones, sandwiches, and more. ROASTED GARLIC LOVERS will love thier roasted garlic topping on the pizza

So confused, been here a few times. When we go to the counter we get told to go sit down and a server will be out. When we come in and sit down, we get told there's no server, and we order at the counter. The girl talking on the phone for 5 minutes without any acknowledgment of the customers right in front of her is not helpful.

It's pretty cheap and fast sometimes, and usually edible. Only to be used as a rapid human feeding station due to the paucity of quick places in tenleytown, I would prefer a McDonald's because at least with McDonald's there's a regular system of food retrieval and payment.

I love Angelico's sandwiches.  For the cost, flavor, and size they really can't be beat.  My favorite is the Angelico Sandwich - it's like grilled chicken parmigiana on bread.  The chicken is moist and the sauce and cheese are delicious. Each sandwich comes with chips, so it is really a full meal.  I almost always have leftovers.

My husband likes the Italian Feast sandwich.  Which he says completely fills him up.  The food is made well and the ingredients are fresh.  The tastes you find here (on their sandwiches) I really haven't found anywhere else.

My only regret is that it's not closer to my apartment.

My boyfriend and I come here every Wednesday and it's usually always good but the last time we came, we ordered the mozzarella sticks and they seemed like they'd been refrigerated, heated up, then refrigerated over and over again. They crumbled apart and the cheese inside was stale and crumby as well. But I will still keep coming back.

There was also an argument between the waiter and some high school kids who came in and sat down to wait for their friend to finish eating. The waiter had told them that they'd have to leave if they didn't order something. This argument was going back and forth until I left.  But other than the loud high school kids that come in right after school lets out, I love the food and especially love the portabella mushroom sandwich :)

I want to cry.  Honestly.  I went back here after a long hiatus (college) and I walked in and the place smelled like puke.  It made me want to hurl.

Trying my best to ignore it, I ordered my pizza took it somewhere else and it was just... not good.  Not just "not the best" but seriously, not even good.  I'm hoping they changed managers or something, but I will ne'er go back... SAD!!!

Truth be told: Tenleytown is pretty much dead when it comes to dining. But if you're in the area and jonesing for mediocre Italian food, Angelico will probably suit your needs. The sandwiches are good, the pasta portions are big, and I've never had terrible service. So its pretty good if you're out and looking for a quick lunch with a friend. But I would definitely go elsewhere for pizza and if you're looking for real quality Italian dining, you're better off at just about any other Italian restaurant in DC.

Delicious pizza here - large slices that are close to what you would find on any city block in NY (finally!).

But my favorite, and what makes me stop by whenever I'm near Tenleytown, is the Roasted Eggplant Sandwich. Eggplant, peppers, olives, feta and more on their delicious toasty pizza-like bread. This is a must have!

I have to say I was optimistic but mostly disappointed. I have been search for option besides Pizza Hut in Cleveland Park. The pizza is blah all around. Crust is ok, pepperonis were ok, but the sauce was just terrible in my opinion.

I also ordered lasagna to test a few things, and that suffered from same problem as pizza. The sauce stinks. It's edible but not enjoyable.

The only shinning light on this order, were the breadsticks. Those were delicious and tasty.

I think if they straightened their sauce out it would be a different experience.

I swear we keep Angelico's in business.  It seems like we order it nearly once a week.  Our staple is to split a large greek salad and one of the pastas (which come in outrageous portions).  We have tried the peppery portobello mushroom pasta, the chicken alfredo, and the pesto pasta.  I recommend all of them.  The pizza, on the other hand, is just okay.  You're much better suited going to 2 Amy's or Italian Pizza Kitchen if that's what you're looking for.

For lunch (or a small dinner), the sandwiches are excellent as well.  They have a number of signature sandwiches that have never disappointed.

To top it off, they deliver in record time.  Even though they will tell you the standard "45 min" on the phone, the food usually arrives in less than 30.

Mmmmmmm Angelico's. Being an AU Alum, I am very much an Angelico's fan.   I loved that they delivered to campus.  The memories of sitting on the floor of our dorm room chowing down some pesto pasta and then having leftovers for three days...sigh...  "Going out to eat" my freshman and sophomore year usually involved an Angelico's adventure.

This is definitely one of the best places in the city to get pizza.  Their pasta dishes are MONSTROUS and delicious and so are their salads.  Make-your-own-calzone is also a great choice--definitely enough for two people.  If you dine in, look forward to a giant glass for fountain sodas with free refills.  Also, the breadsticks/cheesestick things that come with everything are yummmmalicious.

Although I do not live in the area anymore, I would STILL make the trip to Angelico's for some yummmmmy food.

There was one thing I looked forward to when I trekked from Foggy Bottom to Tenleytown in order to take some classes at AU. The thought of some pizza after that class was done.

I have no idea how Angelico's gets the true tomato flavor in their pizza sauce. They must use actual tomatoes to make it instead of that canned stuff.

The prices at Angelico sure appeal to a student budget, with small pies at eleven dollars and large at $16.50. That is a bargain for a gourmet pizza! If you aren't into the pizza thing, Angelico's also has pretty good wings and calzones.

Good pasta. Meaty Gyros. So-so garlic bread. A typical college town pizza/Greek restaurant cept it is in the Nation's capital. The food is hot when it is delivered which is a plus. When I can get coworkers to order something other than Wingo's It makes this a 4-star place. :-)

I've eaten here many times over my 4 years at AU and I've always had good experiences. Lots of menu options - pizza, calzones, sandwiches, wraps, pasta dishes and the like. Bonus that everything is reasonably priced and won't break the wallet!

Where did the last star go?
While all of my in-dining experiences have been good, I unfortunately cannot say the same for my delivery experiences. Both times we ordered delivery, it took them over an hour and a half to get to our apartment - which was right by AU. Ohter than delivery, I still dine-in with some of my AU friends from time to time.

Angelico's is a good place to grab a bite. They are fairly inexpensive, the service is friendly, and the food is pretty good. You can get a large slice of cheese pizza for $2.50 before five o'clock (when table service begins), which makes this restaurant pretty irresistible to those who find themselves in Tenleytown and hungry around lunchtime.

Their fresh pizzas are quite a bit better than the ones they keep around for slices. The calzones are really tasty too, and a bargain at $9.50, though they make them fresh so you will have to wait a little while for them to arrive. They also have this shrimp alfredo wrap that would be amazing if they didn't insist on filling it with this watery sauce that makes everything soggy.

I've only ordered from Angelico's, never eaten inside. But if you are out of their delivery range, I would suggest making a visit because the pizza here is really good! I was tired of the usual fast-food pizza, and decided to give Angelico's a try because I liked their menu. The pizza tastes very fresh and the sauce isn't too tangy or anything. They also have a great selection of toppings. I usually go with the fresh basil.

They have a full menu of Italian food, including wraps and sandwiches. They aren't open late on the weekends, which is my one complaint. I would love more than anything to come home from the bars and be able to order Angelico's. But I guess in the long run, it's better for me that they close early.

AU Park is a culinary wasteland.  Students keep the restaurants busy and the restaurant owners know they will be gone soon whether the food is good or bad.

Decor:  Feels like a pizza joint.  No reason to sit really.

Food:  Decent crust and cheese.  Canned olives.  Yuck.  Salad wasn't bad.

Service:  Friendly.  You can hear the servers say to themselves: "No hurry. I'm a grad student."

Value:  Big portions!!

Eat Here Again:  It is near the Metro.

I have only had the pizzas here, which are so good I'm almost afraid to venture out and try anything else. The crust is just thick enough and crispy, and they have great gourmet topping combinations. The Chicken Pesto had all my favorite flavors (pesto, sun dried tomatoes, olives, and more), and the Grilled Eggplant was also great vegetarian option if you are a garlic lover since there were whole cloves of roasted garlic- yum! My friend had the calzone, which was huge and she loved it.

A little more than your average pizza place. However my personal pizza was $12 and I was full after eating half of it, so the other half was lunch the next day. Unlike a lot of other pizza places, I've discovered that Angelico's warms up nicely the next day.

The inside kind of looks like a fast food place and you order off what looks like a take-out menu, but I won't hold that against them. I will dock a star for the service. Our server was nice but there was a lot of waiting. There was also a worker behind the counter who opined about Catholicism (hint: if there are a bunch of people coming from Ash Wednesday services across the street, I would steer clear of that discussion. Actually, I would just avoid talking about religion when you're working in front of any customers).

Overall, a solid option in the Tenley area...especially compared to the prices and quality food at Guapos, which seems to be the most popular eatery.

Angelico's does not get 5 stars because it is 5 star quality food, but rather for the overall package of what they offer. Whenever I needed a decent meal in Tenleytown, or wanted some quality delivery, I could always turn to Angelico's. The menu is quite extensive for a place that you would just think is a mediocre college/high school hangout, and you'll be surprised by the quality of the food. They offer Italian/Mediterranean selections, including pizza, pastas, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. I've eaten from here countless times, and I liked just about everything I ever had on the menu. My personal favorites were the Mediterranean Dip appetizer, the chicken Caesar wrap, and the spicy chicken pizza. They also serve pizza by the slice until around 5PM, so that is your chance to try their "slice of heaven" that they offer.

It's a good place to get lunch before an excursion to Best Buy or the Container Store across the street, although I wouldn't go so far as to say it is suited for a romantic dinner or anything. In fact, I like ordering from here more, since it can be full of kids and the service can be slow sometimes, but it's not bad enough to detract too much from the overall experience.

If you live near Tenleytown or go to AU, it's by far the best delivery option in the area. It takes a little longer to get your food (about a 45 minute wait) than delivery pizza, but when compared to Domino's or Papa John's, it's definitely worth it. Every neighborhood should have a place like this.

Hhhmmm... I still like Angelico's, but I wasn't nearly as enamored with the chicken alfredo as I was earlier this year.  Hopefully, the sandwiches remain the best in the Tenleytown area, but I can't show the same love that I did in the past to the pasta.  It still makes for a good value (i.e. good, but not great, pasta in large quantities), but I'm quite sure I'll stick to their sandwiches on future visits.

It's pretty decent food. It's close to work so we end up there periodically, and it's consistently alright, but never great. They seem kind of expensive for a little sandwich/ pizza shop-the first time I went there I got a greek salad with gyro meat on it, and it was $10, not including a drink. Sandwiches are about $8. I've been wanting to try their chicken portabello wrap, but every time I've tried to order it they've been out of lavash bread. Overall, not bad food though.

I have to say, this is some of the best pizza I've had in a long time.  I've had the specialty pizzas (artichoke and spinach is amazing), the basic pizzas with toppings (give a close to NY taste to it), and the calzones are almost too big to eat alone... almost.  I've eaten in and had it delivered with no difference in the quality to the food.  I highly recommend this place.

I need to update this because we've seen a decrease in service lately.  I'd still eat in during the week, but their delivery guy won't enter my apartment building and they've gotten our order wrong multiple times lately.  Quality has gone down in that arena in the last year (3/26/08).

As someone who grew up in the NYC region, I take my pizza seriously. Angelico is about as close as you can get outside the 5 boroughs (which isn't to say it's on the same level as NYC pizza...but you're not going to do better in DC). And they sell by the slice, pre-5pm. Why everyone doesn't sell by the slice is beyond me, but at least they do. They also have great spaghetti and tiramisu.

My biggest issue with the place is beyond their control, really. During the early afternoon the high school kids from Wilson - many of them punks - infest the restaurant. Don't let that daunt you, though.

If you were wondering were heaven is, it's between the folded pizza dough of Angelico's spinach and artichoke calzone.  Well, more like a warm, cheesy, spinachy, artichokey, tomatoy version of heaven.  The service is not so angelic, but once I receive my calzone I'm happy to let it slide.

Second semester of my jr year at AU, my friend and I went here for dinner every sunday after chapter.

I don't know why.  It was good food though.  I could usually have leftovers for monday.  And I was usually able to find something a little different everyday.

But basically it;s stars for teh good times and memories.  Not necessarily for the food - cause I don't remember it.

I'm a fan of angelicos as well. As an alum of American, I ate there quite a few times. It's a great place to go to grab somethin cheap and easy, and it has a lot more variety than most pizza shops. Another standout is the fact that while pizza could be considered their specialty, their wraps and pasta dishes are great as well--portabella fusilli is good, but make sure you ask for some pepper flakes. They also have a pesto pasta dish that is relatively good, although it's creamy pesto and I find that cream ruins the taste of the basil a bit, so i don't order it much anymore.

Gourmet pizzas are great, and very filling. Calzones phenomenal. and a Decent lasagna too, although one thing I frequently complained about was that the sauce is just  tad TOO sweet for my liking--i don't want to confuse it with ketchup.

Those with nut allergies must be aware that they have an appetizer dish that comes with some sort of sauce that has almonds in it--i don't know what it is, but if you are gonna order an app, ask "do any of your sauces have nuts in 'em?" I'm allergic, but not lethally, to nuts and I had a little episode with this before. Something wants to tell me it's their appetizer sampler....

Oh and one other thing....if you're not in the mood to drop $16.50 on a pizza...order their garlic bread, which in itself is a thin pizza topped with cheese and garlic, and served with tomato sauce for like $3.00. THEN get a sammich or something and you've got the best of both worlds....This is one place i tend to miss, having moved closer to downtown.

Very good pizza and sandwiches. They have alot of veggie sandwich options. I really liked the Portabella mushroom sandwich. It is pretty filling and it is served with a bag of chips.Pizza and salads are also good. The pastas are nothing to get excited over so I would shy away from them. They have always been on the mushy side when I tried them. Maybe it was because they were delivered?  The roasted eggplant dip is also worth trying.

This is surprisingly good for a really casual cafe.  It's nothing fancy or unique, but it's a great deal and a good option if you're over by AU.  I love the calzones.  I always get one with portobella, spinach, and meatballs and then eat it over THREE MEALS.  They are enormous.  And the staff is always very courteous and happy to provide extra marinara for the leftovers.  Yesterday the marinara was great for my calzone but the sauce on the lasagna was a little sweet.

This place worked for college kids because it's cheap, and it's good for take out when you are really hungry because the portions are large I just don't ever find myself wanting to eat here now that I am no longer a student but maybe because I exhausted it as a possibility. Their pizza, however, is good and it's a good alternative to commercial Papa John's or the Dominoes right next door- it's more home-cooking taste. Lots of fresh herbs, very tasty, and nothing bland. The pizza and calzones are the best thing going.

YUM! Angelico provides a consistently good meal at not-too-bad prices in the Tenleytown area. I went to AU and had a TON of Angelico's food over the four years, but I keep on going back for more. Their pizza is definitely some of the best pizza by the slice in the city. My personal fave is to find someone to share with me and order the pesto and fettucine alfredo and mix the two together. The service at the restaurant can be excruciatingly slow (usually bc only one person is working the whole place from what I can tell); however, their delivery has always been on time or early! woop woop! They get four stars bc of the aforementioned so-so dining service and the fact that they used to have really great mediterranean potatoes with their sandwiches, and now only offer potato chips. Tip: if you like white pizza, their garlic bread is basically white pizza with a really strong garlic taste, is the size of a personal pizza, and is only $4.95! It used to be $3 waaay back in the day when this place first opened, but hey, $4.95 is still a great deal.
