I love this place! I began in the summer time and after just a few weeks of pilates classes with Gaida I was really starting to see results! Gaida teaches mat classes on tuesday and thursday mornings and really works with everyone so they can get the most of the one hour class! Lizzy Mulkey's class is also amazing!
The prices are very affordable (compared to the many pilates places around Los Angeles) and the quality is great. I suggest you really take advantage of the $35 first time private lesson, its definitely worth it... especially if you are just beginning.
Oh! its also right across the street from a coffee bean, so after class you can treat yourself to a latte! -

I've been going to ACBK for about 5 years. Every instructor is really good, and each offers something different. Marie Jose is the owner and a world-reknown trainer yet keeps her prices low so more people can afford her services, and her studio's services. Everyone is very nice, caring, competent...and I love that these are some of the best instructors in the country! They offer a wide arrange of services, too, from mat classes, group Reformer classes, Gyrotonic classes, and the occasional workshop for things like Yoga or meditation. I love this place.

Simply put, Marie-Jose is amazing. I am an experienced and certified pilates instructor who has trained with Marie-Jose at her Long Beach Dance Center and now take private sessions with her. Marie-Jose and her inspired workouts have solved a chronic issue in my body that I've been dealing with via physical therapy, chiropractors and an orthopedist for over 18 months. Seriously -- two sessions with MJ and it feels better than it has since 2009!!
The staff (Wendy in particular) are incredible welcoming and efficient. The studio is a calming environment when you walk in...but DON'T BE FOOLED -- they'll work your booty off once you're on the equipment!
I drive an hour across town to work out at ACBK, and it's totally worth it! -

I love Lavinia! My husband and I go to ACBK weekly for gyrotonic classes from Lavinia, and our postures and core strength have improved greatly. Also, I used to not be able to touch my feet, and now I can - so my flexibility has greatly improved.
What we love most about the class is that we can go at our own pace, and we don't feel like we're working with a drill sargent. Lavinia takes into consideration your individual differences and body needs.
Gyrotonic helps with core strengthening and alignment, but Lavinia also allows time for additional stretching which is good for us, since we work in front of the computer all day.
Also, having see some other studios, I appreciate that ACBK is well-lit and clean. ACBK is also one of the few studios in LA that offer gyrotonic tower classes. Few studios have multiple towers to be able to offer classes at a less costly rate than private classes.
Since taking gyrotonic classes, I've had to get fewer massages. I've also tried Pilates Plus, Bar Method and other courses in the past, and this is the only class that I've been able to consistently commit to and not dread going to. I actually look forward to them and feel light like a ballerina after them. (I'm 5'2, 120 lbs - no where close to being a ballerina in stature).
One note - Gyro is probably not the exercise for you if you want to lose weight - it's not so much about cardio than about stretching and alignment. But since taking the courses, I've felt longer and leaner and more graceful.
UPDATE: I tried a new teacher at ACBK - Danielle. Amazing! She stretches and massages throughout the class. And she's definitely very experienced. Danielle is really passionate about gyro and gets you pumped up for it as well. I also love her vibe. -

Great place! I've been taking mat classes with Lizzie about a year and a half now. The classes are pretty fairly priced, and the studio is always very clean and quiet. Lizzie is my fav instructor, but Erica is great, as well. My only complaint is that the classes are almost always a little too crowded. They ask you to sign up for classes beforehand, bit I don't think they ever say no to anyone, and I wish they would! I also wish they had different levels of classes (beg., intermediate & adv.), because the level of difficulty can change a lot in each class based on who happens to be taking it...sometimes the class will be filled with beginners, and I feel like I'm not getting challenged at all. Good overall, but it could be better with a few changes.

I absolutely LOVE Angel City Body Kinetics... I've been taking semi-private classes with Tara for the past six months as well as mat classes with Lizzie, Erica, Geeta and/or Joy. Each of the instructors work different muscle groups while still focusing on engaging your 'core' muscles. There are tons of classes during the day - morning, daytime and evening - to fit almost every schedule. It is a highlight in my week.
