This is what a barber shop should be. The barbers banter with each other, they don't talk your ear off and ask you tons of questions. Very good at what they do, efficient, reasonably priced. That's about as much as I look for in a barber.

I am new to the Boston area and had hopped around to a couple of barbers trying to find the right fit for me. Luckily, I found Anfa Barber Shop. After reading the reviews, I found them to be accurate.
The shop is professional, the work is quality and the prices are reasonable. I frequently go in for my medium fade and leave perfectly satisfied each time. I feel that consistency in quality and attention to detail are important qualities for a good barber shop to have - Anfa offers both.
The only reason I didn't rate Anfa at five stars, is the wait can be a little long at times. The staff is mindful of your wait time and they work quickly to get you in the chair. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a quality haircut at a reasonable price. -

One of the best classic barber shops I've ever been too (even a little Ghetto when the owner and his homies start arguing in their native language).
Clean, friendly, and during the spring/summer when he leaves the windows open, you feel like you're in some LL Bean-ish resort barber with the perfect Bostonian neighborhood ambiance.
The guys are great with both kids and adults, and I've had great experiences on all three visits. He also has a great lollipop jar that has the BEST barber candy ever. -

Excellent haircut, skilled barbers, great experience. Highly recommend!
They won me over -- I was unsatisfied the first time I got my haircut here, but it wasn't their fault. Don't be afraid to let them know if you are unsatisfied -- they will do their best to fix your issue. They did for me -- and for that I give them 5 stars! Thank you! -

Went in for a haircut and came out pleasantly surprised.
The main reason for not getting five stars is that he didn't really listen to anything I said. I told him what I wanted and he just started cutting. When I made a face because he was going shorter than I told him to, he said "I know what I'm doing. I will make it look good" and never stopped cutting.
In the end, he was right. It was a damn good looking haircut. Still, I can't give five stars when he blatantly ignores what I asked for. -

If you are in search of a great barber in the area, definitely check this place out.
This was my second time here. First time I looked up a solid place for a hot shave for my father (he had a broken hand and couldn't shave).
I came today for my own hot shave (head and face). Between the hot towel, the warm shaving cream, the shave, the reapplication of shaving cream, the second go around, and the almond aftershave the whole experience was very relaxing.
My only complaint is that there was a little irritation which was likely do to the fact my skin isn't used to that kind of blade or shaving cream.
It was $30 for the whole bit which seemed to be very reasonable in price considering the time he spent on me. My friend got a haircut he really liked for $20. I think for a location just off of Newbury, you probably wont be able to find something with the same service for these prices. The hot shave alone is $17 and there are discounts for children and students.
Both of the guys seemed to remember me from coming in with my dad and asked how my graduation went. -

Amazing place, would really really recommend. I have been going here since the summer of last year, and not once have I considered getting a cut someplace else. Awesome cuts for excellent prices.
Both Abdou and Mo are very talented, and it's a great relaxed atmosphere. They also have free wifi which is great if there is some wait, but generally the queues are really good. If it wasn't for the cut, I'd still pop by for a chat! -

Neighborhood gem! Abdou (sp) knows what he is doing and is incredibly reasonable in what he charges, only $22. Super friendly. This is the kind of place in Bosyon that I have been looking for!

Definitely going back. Good cut, guys seem like they know what they are doing. Friendly. Place was busy Saturday afternoon so you can call and put your name in for a "rough" reservation.

Completely shocked to find this place in the Back Bay! I had only been able to find super expensive salons or phoney "barber shop clubs" which are incredibly over-priced and mediocre in the area. All I want is a good, quality, pretty simply haircut in a friendly atmosphere for a reasonable price. $17 in the Back Bay seems like it must be a typo. Professional, friendly atmosphere where people actually talk to each other, and my cut my Abou was great. I'll be back regularly.

It's unfair to compare a quality haircut with me buzzing my own hair off with AA-battery powered clippers, but that's where i'm coming from. Needless to say, this is a huge improvement.
The owner was quick to greet me on a quiet Saturday morning, after i'd gone in search of a simple barbershop in the city. i didn't expect to find something similar to what i grew up with; friendly-but-crotchety old men in a first-floor shop in downtown or back-roads Plymouth, but it surely had to be better than paying fancy prices for a simple haircut.
He was very friendly, and what he lacked in knowledge of the staples (i.e. complaining about the Red Sox), he more than made up for in enthusiasm. He was also admirably meticulous about his work, too, and I was pleased with the result. Not just by comparison, either.
For someone who's newly in business and does such a good job, i selfishly wish him well, so i can come back the next time! -

Finally a high quality and reasonably priced barber shop in the Back Bay!
I've been traveling to Brighton since 2000 to get my haircut at an old-fashioned barber shop that did a good job and was affordable. The commute was getting a bit irritating but I just couldn't justify paying $40+ for a standard men's short haircut.
When I saw that a barber shop was opening up right next to my work I got excited. But the true happiness came after my first haircut with Abdul was complete. He used the clippers briefly to shear off the long hair an create his desired shape. Then the scissor work began as he carefully sculpted away with close attention to detail.
Five weeks later the haircut held up and grew out very evenly, unlike when a lesser barber uses the clippers to perform the entire haircut in 5 minutes.
Overall: $17 for a legit haircut in the Back Bay and a friendly barber who takes pride in his work. The shop is modern and very clean with flat screens and a great view of Newbury Street. I won't have to go back to Brighton for a long time! -

This is as good as it gets for a barber shop in the city. The owner is a really friendly guy and gives you exactly the cut you are looking for. He takes his time, yet gives you a quick, precise haircut. The place is clean and it only costs $17.
If you live near the Back Bay, this should be the only place you go for a haircut. -

Good guy, bad cut. The owner (Abdul I believe) is a skilled barber but did not listen to my request. I asked for just a trim on the top and he took off quite a bit...way too short. He did a great job of cutting, very smooth and even, but unfortunately it was much shorter than I asked for. Very nice and friendly guy. Will not return.

Hands down the best barber in Boston. You will not find a better hair cut for this price, plus Abdou is the greatest. Easy location right off Newbury Street, very easy to get in for an appointment. 5 stars.

Do you know how hard it is to find a quality barber in Boston? Let me tell you, it is nearly impossible. Luckily my friend stumbled upon this place when he was visiting from out of town and got a haircut. A couple days later I went in and got one of the best cuts I have ever got in Boston. The owner, also a barber, Abdou was polite and really made me feel at home, like one of my friends back in college was cutting my hair.

Anfa is the place for getting a great cut on Newbury at a low price. This is your typical barbershop type atmosphere that comes with an awesome personality. Abdou is a genuinely nice guy who cares for his clients. Everytime I walk by his place, even if I am not getting a haircut, he waves to me and asks me how I am doing. Along with his friendly and outgoing way, he has some amazing scissor skills and gives great cuts. Definitely give him a try, you won't regret it!

Incredible haircut for an excellent price (especially for Newbury St). The barber took his time and did a quality job, and the shop looks incredible. Highly recommended.
