I ate here once when they had recently opened. We were sadly just one of a few tables filled. I really hope this restaurant does well, because the food was truly outstanding. If this place were only in Flushing or even Manhattan, it would certainly make a killing!

I had the oyster omelette and fried oysters. I was expecting these dishes to be made of frozen oysters, but I was wrong. I took a bite out of the oyster omelette and was shocked when I bit into a gently cooked fresh oyster. The omelette was delicious, right down to it's wonderful glutinous texture (this is no american-style fried egg for sure).

The fried oysters were amazing. If I lived closer to this place, I'm sure I'd develop some cholesterol problems. I ate most of them without dipping them in the pepper-salt offered, wanting to savor the oysters mostly unfettered, seasoned only by their light crispy batter. The food was mind bogglingly cheap especially when considering the quality and freshness of the oysters. This is a place to definitely return to.

I'm Taiwanese, so I am always hankering for authentic Taiwanese grub in the city.  Flushing has its spots, but Andy's, dare I say, is better than any other I've tried in the New York area!

I've only been here twice, so haven't tasted that many dishes.  But both times didn't disappoint.  Get the fried oysters!  They are lightly battered, served with salt, pepper, and basil, just the way you'd find them in Taiwan.  I've also had the vermicelli soup with taro....just like Mom's!  The pork roll (actually called "chicken roll" in Mandarin) is also very authentic.  I can't remember what else I had, but I mostly stick to the Taiwanese "street food" items on the menu, as they are hard to come by.  All I can say is, go to Andy's!  If only I lived closer....

This place was busy on a Tuesday night at 8pm, with about half of the ~15 tables occupied, with mostly Asian customers. What does that mean? The locals know where it's at, good eats!!

Andy's is fairly modern, with dark wood-lacquered tables and cushioned chairs, and a large ~55" Samsung TV hanging on the wall in the rear. It was far from the typical tackiness that many Chinese restaurants are.

For our party of 4, we ordered a variety of dishes:
- Triple Delight Noodle Soup ($5.50) - big bowl of random meat and vegetables with lomein style noodles. This bowl of noodle soup seemed almost unrecognizable with so many different items. Noodles were soft but bland, pork was tender though not very flavorful.
- Fried Baby Oysters ($5.95) - about 15-20 small fried pieces of oyster served over a bed of lettuce. Crispy and delicious, though I would have preferred for this dish to be slightly salty, since it is seafood afterall. Mmmm, thumbs up!!
- Scallion Pancakes ($3.95) - served in small triangles, about 20 pieces. Crispy and slightly dry, which required a little extra dipping in the light soy sauce.
- Oyster Pancake ($4.95) - This tasted almost like Egg Foo Young, fluffy with lots of egg and a few oysters. It was topped with a sweet orange sauce that added to the slight saltiness of the egg/oyster.
- Ginger Clam Soup ($5.25) - large bowl of thin clear broth with ~10 baby clams and strips of ginger. The clear broth felt very healthy and had a subtle ginger flavor (not too overbearing). The baby clams seemed to have lost some of its flavor from the ginger broth, though they still held its slight firmness.
- Fried Rice Cake Classic (Beef) ($6.95) - Fresh rice cakes, not too sticky. Served with fresh crisp vegetables. I found this dish to be subpar and not too flavorful.
- Pan Fried Noodles ($9.95) with beef - large 1' dish of beef, baby bok choy, sliced carrots, baby corn, snow peas, and broccoli served over a bed of extra crispy pan fried noodles (only slightly mushy near the center where all the meat, vegetables and sauce sat in). This dish was very tasty, though ever so slightly salty. Vegetables were very fresh.
- Fried Intestines ($6.95) - fried with salt and pepper. Tasty and not too overbearing with the bitterness that intestines sometimes have.

We were also served complimentary Red Bean Soup for dessert. The soup was thin and slightly watery. The red beans were still very firm, which I would have preferred for them to cook a little longer so that the soup gets starchier/thicker and beans slightly mushy.

Overall, the food was very delicious and prices were cheap. I will definitely come back again to try some more authentic Taiwanese dishes.

I ordered delivery on a cold rainy night.  The delivery guy called to say he was outside.  Only he spoke in Mandarin and I could barely understand him.  I open the door and he's next door.  I still give him a good tip cuz he was speedy.
I got the grilled pork chops with hot & sour soup and pickled veges.  This was a huge portion that I made it into 2 meals.  The pork chop was not dry and it had a light seasoning of salt & pepper on it.  My BF got the spicy beef noodle soup.  The noodles were in a separate container to prevent them from getting soggy and expanding.  The food was good, finally a Taiwanese place that delivers!

We came here purely based on Yelp reviews.  Overall, I am a fan.

The things that we loved and would order again if we came back:
1) Taiwanese Burger - YUM!
2) Oyster Pancake - YUM!
3) Ginger Clam Soup - really light with fresh clams, it was quite refreshing

The things that we ordered, good, but didn't love:
1) Twin Lobsters - the lobsters weren't that fresh and the chef had overcooked them; I'm hard to please when it comes to lobsters
2) Conch - I love love love conch, and they had ruined this dish.  I think the chefs must have forgotten this dish on the stove because it came out last when we had almost finished the rest of our food on the table.  The conch came out overcooked, and it was too tough to chew.

I've wanted to eat here since it opened. The decor is nice and the staff are nice.

If you are looking for Americanized Chinese food, this place is NOT for you. But if you're looking for good eats and want to try something authentic or if you're a veteran at having weird Chinese food - this place is awesome.

I must admit that I've ordered their take-out stuff that you can get at Chinese fast food - they are as bad as those other take-out places but at least they look 10 times cleaner. Their take-out portions are a little small - but at this day and age, you should have some portion control anyway.

I also had dinner there with my father and ordered something from the Chinese menu (they have 2 menus, and they are different). This menu has some English in it too, but if you ask the staff there they are more than willing to help you with it and figure out what they are and explain things. I had an amazing dinner though, we ordered the 3 dishes with soup thing. Had fried fish, sweet and sour ribs, and a crock-pot chicken thing that my dad said is a traditional Taiwanese dish - it was the best chicken I've ever had - it was actually moist and juicy.

The price was great for the food we ordered, service was great, food was amazing.

Went there for lunch earlier. The food was just right, not too heavy.

For those who can't decide on what to order from their gargantuan list of menu items, they offer a buffet type salad bar where the waiters will assist you in filling up your plate.

The restaurant has too many empty tables that make the place feel tight. Bad use of space and traffic flow.

I've dined here 4 times so far and have always had a great experience.

Some notables, as far as I can recall:

The Steamed Tiny Juicy Pork Buns...juicy and delicious!
Sliced fish with garlic sauce...supremely tasty.
Double Delight....chicken, beef, with basil and hot pepper.  Very filling.

They also have (or had) a special double-smoked pork that was only available on select days.  I would definitely try it again, but be forewarned it was quite salty and fatty...I love salty and fatty, by the way.

As of late, they've been serving roasted peanuts as a complimentary starter.  These are fine and all, but make sure to ask for a dish of the pickled vegetables (radish, cabbage and the occasional carrot) they used to serve when they first opened.  Truly refreshing.

One last thing I want to mention is the customer service.  My first time here, I was served the wrong order.  Not only was the staff extremely apologetic, but they gave me the extra dish on the house.  Totally unexpected, but nevertheless appreciated.

There are a couple tricks to enjoying Andy's that must be mentioned... the first being ignore the buffet table and dollar menu. If you don't walk in speaking Mandarin, the friendly people here will probably direct your attention to it, but look away. It's all crap. The second thing is to make sure to get the second menu, the one without all the standard westernized Chinese staples. Don't come here for General Tso's chicken!

Ok, now we are ready to eat Taiwanese food. You've been wanting to try "stinky tofu" so now is the time as it's actually quite tame here. It is called crispy smelt bean curd ($4.95) and is not too pungent. The crispy texture is just right and the spicy sauce it comes with hides any undesirable after tastes.

Our group of three ordered many appetizer-like items to share, and these six things came to $30 and was plenty of food. The table favorite was probably the pork roll ($5.95), while the oyster pancake ($4.95) was probably the most unique and a must try. The grilled mackerel pike ($2.75) was probably the most disappointing.

Hooray for Taiwanese food. There are not that many around so I'm always happy to find one. This place has a HUGE selection of dishes, including Taiwanese, Szechuan, and Americanized-Chinese dishes.

A lot of their dishes are really cheap (under $5). They have lunch specials for $4.75/$5.50 that include rice, soup or soda. They also have a DOLLAR MENU during the week days.

I got the 2 dishes + soup special TOGO for $14.95. Just a warning, their food is spicy!!!!!

I hope to dine in next time. The restaurant is very clean with minimal decor, not bad though, and can get packed on the weekends.

dare i say this is better than the taiwanese in flushing? the food is fresh, delicious and extremely inexpensive! we ordered the basil chicken, spicy beef soup, beef with spicy peppers/scallions, oyster pancake and chicken in chinese wine. SO GOOD.

they are also on seamless web for those of you in the area - so it's super easy to order delicious. i hear that they have a dollar menu during the day so go check it out.

we saw andy walking around talking to customers, sadly he didn't grace our table but the people that talked to him loved him. he's so friendly. the staff is really helpful, quick and friendly as well.

dessert: order the black sesame ton yoon. it's just the right amount of sweetness with an egg type sweet soup. so yummy!

For the longest time, my wife and friends always go to Flushing for taiwanese, partly because of the choices we can get, and partly because that's where most of the restaurants are.  When we tried Andy's last night (friend's already been a regular at this point), none of the restaurants in Flushing have anything on this place! The food was fresh, the menu extensive, the decor pleasant and the place clean.  We had the usual oyster pancake and wine chicken to start, and had chicken w/ basil, pepper beef and a simple veggie dish, all excellently prepared.  We finished our meal in record time, partly because that's how we eat, but more because it's one of the best Taiwanese places I've ever had.  And that includes those in Taipei.

Recently had dinner with the family at Andy's.  Service was good and the food wasn't bad.

Very good:
Oyster Omelet
Sweet and Sour Whole Fish
Soft Shell Crab (Salt and Pepper) Special
Grilled Pork Chops

OK:
Duck (not sure what kind because I didn't do the ordering) - was very fatty and lacked meat but flavorful
Frogs Legs (Salt and Pepper) - not very meaty

Would return in the future.

Taiwanese food has arrived in Rego Park!

Their menu was slipped under our door, and we decided to try the place out. When the delivery guy showed up, he thanked us for ordering and said "we just opened today" (Monday March 16, 2009). I wonder if we were their first customers.

It's very clean, well lit and generally looks decent. (This doesn't look like a grungy Chinese takeout place, and the food is definitely a higher grade than a typical Chinese takeout place.)

We walked past the place today, and there were actually a bunch of people dining there apparently just a few days after they opened.

Don't bother with typical Chinese takeout dishes. This place is Taiwanese...the cuisine is different. So try it out!

They also appear to specialize in Sichuan (Sezchuan) style Chinese cooking which is spicy.

5/16/09 Update
Finally went there for dinner with a group of friends.
Had:
Spinach with Garlic
Basil Eggplant
Shanghai Bok Choy
Sweet and Sour Fish
Lamb with Scallions
Spicy Breaded Beef
Minced Pork with Spicy Cabbage
Tea Smoked Duck

Everything was competently prepared. Tea smoked duck was definitely a new and interesting flavor...I liked it a lot. Our other choices were more plain vanilla (not an adventurous crowd). Will try to come back and try new dishes on my own.

7/8/09 Update:
Ordered in. Had P6 Shredded Pork w Peking Sauce and Pancake. The sauce is either plum or hoisin sauce.
Also had P13 Smoked Pork with Chinese Broccoli. The smoked pork is small slices of fatty pork.
Both dishes competently prepared and not often found at Chinese restaurants.

7/10 Update:
Ordered in. Had P32 Lamb with Cumin Sauce. I am a fan of lamb, and was very interesting with the cumin, I've never had it like that probably because it's hard to get a group of people to agree to order lamb. The lamb was not gamey at all. My wife is not adventurous and she thought it tasted like Indian food which she's not fond of. But if you're a bit adventurous, you might like this one as I did.
Also had P8 Shredded Pork with Bamboo Shoots. I've had this at other restaurants, and it was competently prepared here.

I'll admit that I ordered off the dollar menu, so can't expect much; however, it was all inedible.  The first disappointment was being told delivery would take 20-25 minutes and 1.5 hrs later, the food finally arrived (surprisingly, it was still warm).  The portion sizes were reasonable for the price, but the quality was abysmal....gristly chicken, a funky spring roll, soggy broccoli.  Even the wonton soup was barely edible.  If you want American Cantonese chinese food, this isn't the place.
