I had heard about this place...and am a fan of checking out local favorites of all kinds. So when we were in the area for the weekend, I made sure a stop at this place was on the itinerary. The produce was pretty amazing, as was their cool ready to eat meals, olive bar, cheese selection, dry goods, and packaged health/organic section. As with any specialty store, watch out for wallet busters (such as a lip balm that I found at the check out area for almost twice what I pay for it at home)... but the strawberries we picked up for a picnic lunch were the highlight of our meal!
I am not sure if this place is worth all the hype(I think as an outsider, my expectations were unreasonably high), but I can see why it is a local favorite. -

Santa Rosa, CA
Every sunday I drive from Santa Rosa just to buy my vegetables and fruits. They are such good quality and the best price I have even seen; like shopping at a farmer's market! Plus, the drive out there on Occidental Rd is always pretty. They have an awesome variety of other local foods as well, which are super high quality. I don't usually buy these other things as I am on a food budget, but this place is the best!

An all-around great store for healthy food and drug selections. Funny that I'd rather drive 10 minutes from work during my lunch hour to shop here than hit up Safeway after work. Friendly, family-operated business and open all year 'round. I feel for those checkers during the cold months since it's an open air market!

Growing up 5 miles from this place spoiled me. Since my folks raised me on produce purchased here I can't eat produce from supermarkets; it just doesn't taste the same. I drive from Petaluma at least once a month to load up on produce and other bulk grains, nuts, etc. Best prices, always the freshest stuff.
I have a salsa recipe that my friend asked me for. Part of the recipe was "and make sure you buy all this stuff at Andy's". He didn't and his salsa wasn't very good. He called me and complained that the recipe must have been wrong since it didn't taste like mine. I asked if he bought everything at Andy's and he said "im not driving all the way out there for produce". His loss. -

A very original setting: bare bones, open crates, no entrance door - just walk in and fill your cart. Andy's claim to fame are the large variety of fruit and vegetable, organic or not. They also have a good selection of breads and dairy products. Unique are their nuts, dates, raw foods, etc. that you find in the back room to the right. Less impressive the cheeses, which are all pre-packaged. There is no deli, but you can buy sandwiches and wraps that have been made the same day. Prices are comparable to Oliver's, and better than Pacific Market, in my experience.

The best thing about driving through farm towns is finding gems like Andy's Produce Market. We wanted to just stop in for some fresh local fruit, but I ended up shopping. I love local grocery stores like this.
I bought a big bag of fresh shaved coconut, ginger snap granola, pasta shells, all in bulk bags and much cheaper than the regular commercial grocery store with pre-packaged items. I bought some local maple pumpkin butter that is incredible on anything.
Tons of fruit and veggies - fresh sweet cherries, yellow plums, red onions, organic shallots, celery and potatoes. I'm a sucker for olives, so I picked up some giant fresh green olives and a few marinated in Meyer Lemon.
I also bought some fresh Manhattan pickles and some thick cut maple bacon from the deli case. My refrigerator at home is stocked with so many snackable items, so what am I doing here?!
I truly believe the taste of the food you make depends on the quality of the ingredients. Places like Andy's sell quality organic and local produce and grains that will make for some delicious dishes and great dinner ideas. -

If you go to Whole Foods when there is a viable alternative nearby, you're an idiot. A complete and total idiot. You should be shot. Whole Foods is not about supporting the local economy and helping out local farmers. It's a corporation that is all about making money. Don't kid yourself into thinking you're so responsible for buying "organic" goods from here.
Now Andy's, on the other hand, is a great place. You get the feeling that they actually GET the entire "eat seasonally and locally" concept. Their store is incredibly clean and well organized. They carry a great selection of local products at reasonable prices. Their premade salads are fantastic. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Outside there is a big BBQ grill. Get some meat here. It's delicious. I had pulled pork with baked beans and coleslaw - yum! And $9.50 for a large platter that the two of us split. When was the last time you could do that at Whole Foods? Sure, you could split a meal from there with somebody - but you'd pay $25 and you'd still be hungry.
Like I said, if you go to the Whole Foods in Sebastopol, you're an idiot. Actually, you're everything that's wrong with this country. This place is right down the street. Think for yourself, lemming. -

Wow, what a find! If you're renting a house in the Russian River, this should be your go-to stop for everything food. We were lucky enough to stumble upon a big gorgeous fruit stand heading from Sebastopol back to Guerneville, and once we stopped we realized it was a whole grocery store with the kind of selection you'd find at a natural foods store in San Francisco.
The fruits and veggies where big, lush and organic, the cheeses were from Cowgirl Creamery, and there seemed to be a big selection of meats, wines and everything one could want for a big home-cooked meal. Not to mention, the prices were outstanding! We picked up a big basket of strawberries, a basket of blueberries, 2 peaches and 3 nectarines for $9. Yes, $9! They were succulent and tasty to boot.
Ahh... this is the life. Good food, good people, good times. Is there more?Listed in: North Bay Trips, Russian River Wineries

We made a stop here on our way from Sebastopol back to our house by the river to stock up on some fresh produce. We were planning a nice home cooked meal for dinner. Yes, The Miss Yelps cook!
From the road, Andy's looked like it was just a produce stand, but there was a rather big market inside with a selection much like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods! They had Cowgirl Creamery cheese too. We were very excited to see the wonderful selection of fruit. We picked up some strawberries, blueberries, peaches and nectarines. Prices were very good, and it was only $9 for everything we got.
Plan a stop here if you're staying the weekend at Russian River -- no need to go to Whole Foods back at home before heading over!Listed in: From Russian River With Love

The BEST prices on Organic produce in the area. Fantastic bulk department, also with great prices. Amazing Gluten-Free section, also stocks hard to find items.
Beware prices on regular grocery items are higher than even Whole Foods Market. -

As advertised. I always drop by when I am passing by. They have good selection of local made stuff. Thanks to a helpful service, I picked up a couple of bottle of Andy's olive oil at a very reasonable price. I loved theirs large selection of good organic veggie and yummy jams. Not mention locally baked pies.

If it's possible, the produce in here looks even fresher than the last time we popped in here.
Do not go to the Russian River without first stopping in Andy's. Stock up on fresh cheese, homemade bread, spreads, jams, salsa, organic chips, white nectarines, nuts, and their tantalizing desserts, before a carefree day spent wedged in the middle of an inner-tube.
Though the tube might be a little snug, after devouring all of the above, your stomach will happily just sink into the water, gurgling with pure foodie delight.Listed in: Places and Businesses that I…, Russian River Spots

This place is awesome. They have an amazing selection of fresh produce, bulk dry goods, drinks, everything. There is also a huge gluten free section as well as a the largest homeopathic medicine section I've seen. Prices are great too. Plus the coffee cart outside has wonderful coffee.

All the Ezekiel breads, tons of spices in bags, kombuchas, tons of fruits/veggies, bulk nuts at good prices (gawd, that sounds kinda dirrrty) an olive bar and seriously, all the yummy stuff I like so much.
Paradise!
Oh, and I don't eat meat, haven't since I was 14, but I must say, the handsome gentlemen tending to some terrible looking outdoor BBQ thing look like they're doing a nice job. Serious. -

I thought this was just going to be a fruit and veggie stand, but it turned out to be so much more! If I lived in the area, this is where I would do all my grocery shopping. From now on, I will always stop here on the way back to San Francisco from any Sonoma trips.
Great way to support local economy... fresh local produce as well as a huge selection of local foods like jams, vinegars, bakery goods, dried fruit, etc. They have a lot more than you would expect and as other mentioned, are a full fledged alternative to Whole Foods. I was able to find health foods which are difficult to track down even in the city. And they had some of my favorite items for much cheaper.
Also a great place to stop on your way up for vacation, if you are staying anywhere with a kitchen and want to stock up. -

Similar to Whole Foods but with a fruit stand sort of feel.
Address on here showed that it was on the south side of town while in fact it's up north. Took me a while to find it but once we were on the right side of town it was easy to spot. -

Andy's is Dandy!
Wonderful selection of organic produce at very reasonable prices. Besides that all kinds of locally-produced jams, oils, vinegars & baked goods. Then there are the grains, pastas, beverages, nuts, even lotions and soaps. In other words, a produce market where you can stock up on many household items you need...and want... -

Andys has quality rivaling Whole Foods, but always much cheaper, and local. Amazing local milk, honey, cheese, bread, apple juice, organic everything, and lots more.
Incredible cheap fruits and veggies, especially in season.
I really wish they would sell A LITTLE fresh meat though. Their frozen stuff its great, but if I could avoid Safeway altogether, that would be ideal. -

Sebastopol, CA
Simply a great place to get fresh fruit and vegetables, plus it has all the local organic goods that people around here demand. There's a great coffee/espresso stand next to the building, and in the summer there's a barbeque concession too.
Look, Whole Foods is alright and it has good stuff, but with all due respect it IS expensive. Andy's has much more produce, and many other goods that people need. Most of is priced reasonably, and each item is pretty much guaranteed to be less costly than at Whole Foods.
Whole Foods appeals to a monied funky crowd, while Andy's appeals to a more normal and definitely more price-conscious funky crew.
Support a great local business, go to Andy's. -

Rohnert Park, CA
Hands down the best produce in Sonoma County. I should know I've lived here over 40 years. Everything I purchased was extremely fresh. Superior quality over other fruit stands I've visited. Not one wilted leaf or bruised fruit. They have a huge selection of organic if that's what you into. I walked out of there with two grocery bags filled to the top for a lot less than I would pay in a grocery store.

A place I frequent regularly whenever I'm up in Sebastpol/Santa Rosa. My boyfriend shops here and introduced me years ago. I absolutely love the Bennett Valley Bakery bread they carry. I always stop in for some of the pugliese that the bakery makes using organic flours and natural leavenings and the Sonoma Market carries an assortment of great breads from local artisan bakeries.
They have a decent selection of in-season locally grown produce as well. But my absolute favorite thing to stop in for, other than the bread, is the juicy delicious slathered in garlic and herbs and barbecue sauce tri-tip that you can smell grilling in the parking lot of the market. They used to have a big portable grill right in front of the market, but last spring around Easter time they made the grilling station a more permanent home over by the side of the parking lot and they put it under a wood awning and everything. Delicious. For around $10 you get a decent size slab of mouth-watering, perfectly grilled meat. With the Bennett Valley bread, you can make some excellent tri-tip sandwiches.
Also, of note is the their free-standing coffee shack. I'm not a coffee drinker, but next to The Flying Goat in Healdsburg, it's my boyfriends favorite place to get coffee. -

Been going to Andy's since I was a kid. It has been good as long as I can remember, and I keep on going. That should say something.
Since there are so many reviews about what it is and has, all I can say is summer time is the best time to go. -

Oh Andy's I do love thee so. Your produce selection is usually wonderful, and dynamic. It's local, and flavorful, and seasonal, and really quite tasty for the most part. Andy's is a blend of almost farmer's market feel, with regular market. There is so much produce and fresh goodness, cheap prices, and deals all the time when there is an abundance of product. They make their own berry preserves, which are my favorites (especially the three berry), and have an assortment of dried fruit and snack items which are flavorful and good for you. The variety of prepackaged items varies depending on what one's looking for, but they are fairly rounded in terms of having a little bit of everything, and a whole lot of produce.

I have a few favorite places on earth. Mid-lake on The Point's vintage Chris Craft, sitting alone at an old school, swanky hotel bar, entangled in the boozy arms of a certain local mayor...and Andy's.
The last time I was there, I was shoved in the backseat as my brother, my cousin, my roommate and I booked it back from a weekend at the River.
"Stop! Stop the car!"
My brother screeched to a halt as three heads glared in my direction.
"What the fuck, Beth?"
"You just passed Andy's."
"So? What's Andy's?" My brother asked, trusting me enough to start to turn the car around.
"It's the greatest produce stand on earth."
As soon as Alex saw the sign saying "BBQ ribs/chicken" and its telltale smoke, he shut the hell up and found a space in Andy's huge parking lot.
The boys ditched me for their precious ribs as I grabbed a latte from the coffee stand and a basket from the pile.
Let me tell you something about Andy's. Sure, they have parking and ribs and lattes. But folks, these people have some fabulous and appallingly cheap nuts. I stocked up on everything, before moving onto the raisins. Black ones, gold ones, dried fruit, wasabi peas...I couldn't stop myself.
I moved inside, avoiding the deli area (eh) and to the back.
Cookies, candy, chocolate. Yes.
Peach filled whole wheat bars, mocked as I purchased them, were later described by Kate as "Surprisingly addictive and filling. Almost confusing."
The sesame candy was gone before we made it to the Golden Gate Bridge.
And those nuts and raisins were used in couscous and salads and cookies for ages.
I didn't even purchase any fresh produce, only because the last thing I wanted to do after a drunken weekend 3 hours away from home was make shit from scratch.
That being said, if Heirloom Tomatoes had been in season, I'd have been all over those.
Everything looked great. Glorious. Like an episode of Barefoot Contessa, where she takes her Beamer out to the backroads of the Hamptons and buys fresh chicken that they kill in front of her.
Actually, we've decided it's the roadside stand Mary Anne and Wanda opened when they said Goodbye to Earl... -

Think of a farmer's market being open every day and you get this place. Aside from fresh produce they have great handmade products such as jams, pastas, breads and juices. The nut selection is bad ass. It's like a squirrel's wet dream.

I've been going to Andy's whenever I can since '95 or so ~ always spend way too long looking around. They have a great selection of local, organic, and just interesting foods! Their sesame tortilla chips are great, housemade salsa is good, and the espresso stand outside serves it up HOT. Nowhere else have I seen homemade peanut butter with sweet messages like "Have a nice day - we love you." =o] Interesting wines and local beer & ciders, cheeses, bulk foods - everything. Best grocery in Sonoma Co.

My family and I love Andy's Produce Market.
We love the selection of fresh produce, the variety of dried beans, rice, flours, and difficult to find recipe and menu items. We make this our first stop in grocery shopping in the area. -

Santa Rosa, CA
best and cheapest produce, great bulk section, passable cheese selection, decent beer selection, passable wine selection.
go elsewhere for meat or fancy foods.
however, pound for pound, this grocery is the best and the most quintessential "West County" in the West County area.

Review from Rebecca H.
Dublin, CA
It is expensive, but the produce and selection is top notch. It has an organic bohemian sort of flair, and you can find all the natural/holistic stuff you want. Decent booze selection, although they seem to rotate through things so you may find something you like once and not be able to find it again. There is a sort of "neighborhood" vibe, which is cool, but I found the cashiers can be a bit cold to me and then super nice to the person behind me. I don't bite or growl, so I can only imagine that they know the locals and cater to them. Overall, a very nice place to shop.

Sonoma County, CA
The primary reason, & there are many reasons, I have shopped here since the early 80's is the bulk products. I particularly love buying my spices here rather than getting them elsewhere in little overpriced glass jars (who needs another little glass jar on the planet?). They have an outdoor BQ on weekends. It can get very crowded if you shop during peak hours so keep that in mind.

They also have a great selection of localy produced wine and cheese. Great place to stop and get your picnic grub if you're on your way out to the river or ocean, or to pick up your dinner staples on your way back inland!
