Who is Andy, and why isn't this place on the corner? Ok, now that that's out of the way, let's get to it ... Do you love beer? If yes, go to Andy's. George and Barbara, the owners, are as nice as can be, and ultra-professional to boot. Everyone who is anyone famous in the world of craft beer has been here. This is the ultimate neighborhood watering hole, and as old-school as it gets. If you are a beer snob like I am, you will be constantly drooling over what gets tapped here on a daily basis, let alone on special nights. Plus, there's a beer club with rewards for downing 100 different beers in a year (with milestone bonuses at 33 & 66 along the way). I'm a sucker for stuff like that.
They are incredibly knowledgeable about beer, and will discuss any beer topic with anybody. If you're a vet, you can chat it up about the industry or brewery stuff. If you're still learning, talk about your taste preferences and they'll find you a beer to match and explain why you might like it. You can ask to sample anything, but this is true of any real craft bar. Another thing I like is that there aren't any crazy, random prices for the draught beers. Order a pint, get a pint, and it's all $7. It may be a little steep (relatively speaking, but come on, what's an extra $1), but lots of other places will cut you down to a 9oz. pour for things like an Ommegang seasonal.
Also, if you are going to be there a while and need some food to go with your high-gravity beers, you are welcome to bring in your own from one of the local businesses. There's an Italian and a Mexican joint within a 30-second walk, and both are cheap and good. My first time at Andy's, even though nobody knew me, I was offered pizza and empanadas by the local patrons. Gotta love being included when you're the new guy. That put me on my way to being a semi-regular, with more frequent visits on the horizon. -

Ok - So the first time I went here I hated the owner, he was such a jerk, But there was only like 5 people in the bar.
Went there last night and it was a packed house. (sausagefest still) but it was packed!!
George was so happy to introduce us to new beers. He was a completely different guy.
Which got me thinking - it was an off night when I first went - He probably wanted to just go home, wasn't making any money. I'd be an asshole too!
Well I'm glad I went back! I really appreciate good craft beers! George is really sweet and thoroughly enjoys introducing new brews to new people.
This time the TV was off completely - it was all about his customers!

Going out with my long time friend to one of the greatest small time, big flavor, pubs in the local Area: Andy's Corner Bar.
Reasons why I love this bar:
1. Old school Bar--this means there is no blaring pop tunes, only the sound of solid conversation between new and old friends.
2. Andy's Nights are usually punctuated by tracks from the jukebox in the corner. Yes, a jukebox. Get those quarters ready.
3.Amazing selection of beers-- plus, people don't upturn their nose if you order a standard macro-brew.
4.Seating is packed, but that just keeps your group together and it defends the bar from the influx of randoms who don't exactly fit the relaxed scene.
5.You can buy great beer, late at night, by the 6-pack from their refrigerator in the back of the bar.
Their Facebook group has coined this local pub " Andy's Corner Bar Is The Greatest Bar On Earth". Is it just me, or is this some kind of awesome?
Check out their seasoned selection of local craft brews and micro-brews from all over the country. The prices are standard($$), given their options. The bartender is a welcoming character who makes the customers feel at ease, and that's before he hands them their liquid courage.
I always enjoy unwinding at Andy's. It's a classic bar, with an American style to it. Come there to read, write, talk or explore relationships. Just don't go there to dance, if you do, I'll throw pretzels at you.

I am so lucky to live down the street from Andy's. It's a great place for beer geeks to try new and diverse beers. The constantly rotating taps never disappoint and the occasional cask poured beers are a true delight. I've never had the same beer twice here, and save two or three, every beer I've had has been a new one for me.
George the owner and bartender is the nicest guy and will help the indecisive pick out the right beer for them, even offering up samples in tiny mugs (I want one). Every month or so there are promo nights with a tap takeover from a great brewery, which includes special rare brews, prizes for patrons and usually complimentary food.
The atmosphere is perfect, it really is your comfortable down to earth neighborhood bar. A great place to unwind, share a conversation with some friends and enjoy some of the best craft beers out there. My girlfriend primarily drinks wine, which they graciously pour from a great selection, but George still is always able to help her find a beer to fit her tastes.
And to "Mary H" below, odds are he could tell you were there to just drink and get drunk. Wrong bar for that, sorry you didn't enjoy your time there but that's not the kind of atmosphere they want nor do the other patrons at Andy's want. It had nothing to do with you being women or George being sexist, he's never treated my girlfriend with anything less than the upmost respect and kindness. The no drunken, falling down, yelling nonsense encompasses all patrons. I respect and support the no tolerance policy for jackass behavior here.

Great local bar! Andy's is THE place to go if you want to discover some new craft beers. Just tell the owner what you like and he'll pour you a taste of something that meets your description. I've never met a more knowledgeable bartender!
They have a huge variety on draft and they frequently change it up and bring in some new beers. The chalkboard by the door let's you know all the newest brews available.
This is my favorite place to go if I feel like having an extra drink after dinner. -

This place is a beer drinkers paradise! They have all kinds of beers in every shape and size. The bartender George may as well have grown the hops himself as he knows so much about everything he is serving! Just ask and he will talk your ear off! We are not talking your standard couple taps of lite beers here, you have foreign, domestic, IPAs, not just standard kegs but actual casks of beer, craft beers, all kinds of cool stuff that will mean nothing to you if you are not a beer geek but if you are one... you will probably cream in your pants!
Some things to know if its your first time as this stuff is not common knowledge:
1.) They do not serve food... at all... nothing! I have heard you can actually BYOF.. bring your own food!? Haven't seen it done but so I've heard!
2.) You can go to the back and pick out bottles of beer from the cooler and bring it back up, give it to George, he'll pour expertly and serve.
3.) This is cool - they have a list of 100 or so beers that you can keep track of what you've drank, try to try them all, and keep your running list right there at the bar (pretty smart, keeps them coming back)
4.) If you don't know much about beer, tell George what you like and have him suggest something! A friend of mine was thoroughly embarrassed when he visited the beer cooler and on 2 consecutive occasions picked out what he thought would be good and ended up being the girliest, fruity beer you could imagine... he was almost laughed out of the place, good fun for everyone but him!

Best tap selection I've ever seen at a bar. I am a big IPA fan and i was able to try 6 of there IPA's they had on tap before leaving. 2 of which were in oak casks. They have an awesome beer selection and there whiskey selection is good to0.
Oh yea, they also hang a little hard pretzel on every beer you order. fantastic. -

I know i'm going against the grain here, but i don't see the appeal of this place AT ALL. Yes, they have a decent selection of beers, but so do other bars in the area. What makes this place better to drink in than any other? The fantastic decor..? Nope. The wonderful bartender George? Nope. Wait...it must be the great crowd of people all having a good time. Nope. So what is it!? This place is running on sheer momentum from having been here for a long time...that's about it.
Best beer bar on the east coast? The east coast of what....bogota?
These aren't the droids we're looking for....move along....move along... -

Friday night. 8pm. bowling leagues kicked us off our lane. what are we gonna do now?
Lyssi tells me that she's been wanting to try a good 'beer place' that a friend was RAVING about about a few months back. says it's around route 3 somewheres.
the iPhone will get us there...
two casks taps! nice. craft beer on tap. great bottle selection. I put $5 in the jukebox and filled the place up with some tunes. the variety of CDs was perfectly well-rounded.
I love this place. we even got some take-out bottles for home. -

The best beer bar on the east coast. If I traveled more, I'd say with certainty the best beer bar in the USA. This place is an institution for beer geeks and a must-visit.
George, the owner, is the best bartender you'll ever have. Really nice guy, great conversation.
Great, relaxed atmosphere at this place and everyone loves their beer. They don't serve food, but they are totally hospitable if you bring in your own.
Andy's organizes the best brewery-sponsored events, where you'll always get some free sandwiches and swag. -

If you are beer snob like me this is the place for you.
There are always changing microbrew taps as well as two cask editions. When they run out a new one is put in place. Making it the kind of place to stop by frequently. They also feature a many bottled beers to choose from.
The owner George will offer you samples of beers in small glasses to help you decide, and will also offer you suggestions based on what you like. You will get addicted to the hands on service, which may lead you to participate in the Faternal Order of Foam. This is list of beers which you must taste in a set amount of time.
Please don't pass this little bar up. It might seem like a hole in the wall, but with all the devotees you can't go wrong.
There is no food at this bar, but almost every beer is served with a pretzel. You can also request popcorn or pretzels to have with your drink. This bar has no problem being BYOF (Bring your own food)

My favorite bar in New Jersey. Bar none.
Great drinking place. Old drinking-man's bar (reminds me of home, but the beers are better here). Beers are great; bartender will give you a shot to see if you like it. Started off safe with the Murphy's Stout, then tried the Farmhouse but it was way too strong - excellent beer but not for me in August (it will knock you on your arse). The Weiss was fantastic, followed by the Flying Dog, "raging bitch" as the bartender put it. Jukebox had some cool selections: The Cars, Stones' Some Girls, Van Halen 5150 "Good Enough" - great song. Go with some buddies. Can't wait to go back. -

Truly a great bar and for more reasons that just great beer. The people that go there are not only from the neighborhood but from other states and while there are a lot of regulars and it's somewhat a cheers atmosphere, this is the kind of place most people would be comfortable in.
The Bartender George is an exceptional fellow. Very knowledgeable, and one of the things I love about this place is that all the beers are served in their proper glassware not just everything in a pint glass kind of a deal. If your thinking, "snobby" I know, but don't get the wrong idea, they just have a certain respect for craft beer you wont find anywhere miles from here.
Did I mention how good the beer was?
It's rotated regularly and there's always a representation of all different kinds of craft ales, IPAs stouts, Belgium, pilsners, etc.
There is also almost always a English style cast conditioned beer with the cleanest line to get that robust, flavorful taste you can't find anywhere else. The way beer should taste!
You can walk in here not knowing anything about beer, but a few down the hatch and a couple minutes of conversation with George you'll be plenty educated! I'm working on my PHD!!!! -

Used to live in area. I still stop in & yep they still know my name.
Its that kinda place where they remember.
Great beer selection w/ changing taps. Good place to watch a ball game or listen to tunes w/ friends. People travel from afar to have beers here - that tells U something...
I liked the old bar better (on the corner) -

Best bar in North Jersey!
Theres always a ridiculous variety of beer, way more then you can find at most pubs. On Wednesdays, I find that the actual Brew promoters will come to display their wares. I have never been disappointed with the service or selection here and I do bounce around to alot of bars.
The best part about this bar is George. He's extremely knowledgeable about the micro brews and welcomes you warmly like a true bartender!
For the atmosphere this is the best place to go for after work drinks or anytime you want a relaxed atmosphere. For anyone who likes beer, barley wines, cider, hefenweizen, stouts, lagers, pilsners and cask (hand pump) beers this is the place! -

First. A corner bar should not be in the middle of the block.
On the edge of a residential area, this small bar is overflowing with great craft and imported beers and better yet, beer knowledge.
George, at the taps, was a fountain of beer knowledge.
No BS here. Great beers, served right.
I love the idea that they make no bones about not serving food by letting you order in or bring in your own.
The night I was there, they were killing the kegs in prep for Oktoberfest.
No pretenses. When its gone, move on.
The patrons are beer savvy and if you're a beer judge, homebrewer or just a out and out beer snob, you'll be able to strike up conversation with anyone in the place.
These folks love beer and it shows.
I'm also a lover of American Whiskey and noticed a fine selection of premium bourbons above the bar.
Lastly, the litle pretzel served with each beer is a nice touch.
I drove 25 miles for my first visit and it won't be my last.
You either get it or you don't. -

The bartender George is one of THE nicest people EVER. Makes me so happy. No shortage of interesting and delicious beers on tap, I learn so much every time I go - and they're more than happy to pour you a sample or make a recommendation. Only a couple drawbacks: not much space, not much seating (which they generally don't need), and sometimes it can smell a little funny. But it's a great place for conversation with my friends, and it's so small you'll make a couple new ones there. Plus where else is there to go in Teaneck, the Cottage Inn?

Love this bar. Would be five stars if they had food. Excellent beer selection and a great group of regulars. George the bartender/owner is a super nice guy. They have a 100 Beer Club- try 100 different beers in a year and get your name on a plaque and get a t-shirt.
Great little bar for craft beers and good conversation. -

I first visited this bar in October '08 while visiting my sister. They specialize in micro brews that are offered on a rotating basis. I still think about the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout I had. George was the bartender that night and he was so knowledgeable about beer. The bar also has a package license so you can mix and match beer from the cooler and take them to go. Next time I'm back in NJ, I will make sure to stop at Andy's.

i'm very fortunate to have andy's corner bar as my local pub...i truly believe that it's the greatest little corner beer bar in america - and i've been to hundreds of them...don't let the fact that it's no longer on the corner throw you; it's still the epitome of an american corner bar...it's family run, friendly as hell, and as comfortable as an old t-shirt...i've been tasting beers at andy's since its beginnings as a real beer bar back in the early '90s...george, who runs the place with his wife barbara, is very knowledgeable about the brews that he serves...he'll never steer you wrong if you ask for a recommendation, and you can learn a lot about beer if you listen to george and the conversations all around you...the place has no food, no live music and no one cares - it's all about the beer...you can call for takeout if you feel the need, but go for the beer and the people; the selection of both is wonderful...10 taps, 2 hand-pumped casks and ALWAYS fresh beer, plus another hundred bottles or so in the cooler...i've sat and tipped a few at andy's with none other than "the beer hunter" himself, michael jackson, who wrote this about andy's on his http://beerhunter.com website: "When I am in the New York area, I try to visit one of my favourite pubs anywhere in the world: Andy's Corner."...andy's is a real gem, so don't just think about visiting - go there and enjoy!
