Review from Jim G.
I like Andrew's. It's comfort food. This small, cafeteria-style restaurant comes with the sub-title "Good Home Cookin'." They serve unadulterated low-brow American food just like your (very Southern) mother made you as a kid. The format is three entrees per evening with a selection of two sides from four or five.
Typical selection involves a choice between polish sausage with sauerkraut, fried chicken or chicken fried steak, roast beef or meatloaf. The vegetables are good hearty Southern style with fat added. They do carry out, just call ahead.
Andrew's is ridiculously low-priced (an average meal with beverage is $8.95) in a city whose restaurants are already a bargain. I once paid $45 for a meal in San Francisco purporting to be this type of low-brow Southern food.
