Review from Jason R.
What a great restaurant. Absolutely fabulous! Just had a wonderful dinner. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice classy and quiet dinner. If you are looking for a new place to try and wanted to go a little south of St. Louis, MO this is the place to go.
Food presentation was excellent. Quality of food was superb and service was amazing. -

Well. Andrew's is probably one of two really good restaurants in the Festus / Crystal City area. The food is cooked by Andrew who is a very good chef. We used to have our company dinners here and boy, did we go all out. Multiple bottles of wine for a lot of people. Everytime we'd have a company dinner at Andrews, everyone would show up just because the food was really good. I never thought I would find such a good restaurant in Festus. In fact, they came to know us and would give us free appetizers too. We actually set a record for getting the most number of bottles of wine on a weekday. There were 10 of us and I think we ended up getting 8 bottles of wine one night. Onto the food.
The appetizers are fantastic. Since there was such a large group, we'd get a fixed appetizer platter which had a combination of multiple things. There was a small piece of crab cake, half an egg roll and something else that was different each time. The crab cake is cooked really good and the batter that is used is not heavy at all. We would then order soup and salad before getting our entrees. A lot of us would get the surf and turf. The lobster tail is cooked very nicely and when you dunk it in the butter ... delicious. The meat is seasoned very well and has a nice amount of blood coming out when cooked medium rare. For dessert, the creme brulee is a must. It is a bit small but it is very good.
Andrews does have a set menu special from time to time where for a fixed price, you can choose certain things for appetizers, soup, salad, entree and dessert. This usually happens on special occasions like valentines, christmas, halloween, memorial day, labor day, etc. so if you get the chance, go for it. You will end up spending a pretty penny here but it is worth it. -

So, i've always had some sort of obsession with New Orleans and anything creole/cajun. I don't know why, but i think i'll go ahead and blame Miss Anne Rice for that one. With that said, when i found out this place was opening i knew i had to go down and visit because, i like old town crystal city. The restaurant itself is really nice and interesting but the food, is what people come for.
I have to say that their appetizers are delicious, i have a weakness for crab cakes done well and wow, these are done excellently. Add in the shrimp and tasso with it, and pure heaven to me. The gumbo and etouffe is nothing to kid about either. Delicious!
Now, i've only been here for lunch, so i'll have to come back for dinner sometime and then review that. Along with the desserts, because the menu looked good!Listed in: Local Goodies!
