Went there tonight with my bio class.... And i loved it!! i had the chicken gyro and it was awesome!! The signature white sauce was soooo good. The chicken was well cut and perfectly cooked as well.
They made the mistke of bringing me a salad when i ordered rice but it was quickly redeemed by the waiter when he brought me the rice with an extra of green beans! the rice was delish as well and the green beans were amazingly seasoned and yummi! Im.not a big salad person.... But i actually ate almost all of mine. The feta and dressing were soooo fresh and good i couldnt stop.
The waiter was knowledgeable, attentive, and good at his job. The atmosphere here was great. Everyone was in a great mood and it calls for a good time!
We got a little bonus tonight as well.... Andreas himself came up to the table and shot out a couple of.cute one-liners that had my friends and I giggling! It was great. I haven't been to many places where the owner takes that kind of time to interact with his customers and it was awesome!!
my only complaint is that my beer was cold.... But not ice cold. The cup they gave me was also not ice cold. But, my friends ordered a margarita and mojito and they looked so good. So, i might go with a cocktail next time over a beer.... It looked more refreshing.Overall awesome place and i will def be returning in the future!!!! -

You know you're on to something when Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick walk in behind you (or maybe not because apparently they frequent Brickway on Wickenden, which I could do without). Anyway, in this case - you're definitely on to something!
All of the delights of Greece: blue and white, family like arguments amongst the staff, delicious food, and the feeling of never being rushed. We ordered the large 'hot meze platter' and split it between the two of us. Grilled meats, fresh vegetables, toasted pita, tzatziki, taramosalata, spanakopita, dolmades, all topped with a generous hunk of Greek feta. The marinated chicken and gyro were memorable. Ask for extra tzaziki sauce, which is on the milder side of garlic, and load up the fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet red onions. I had a soda and we were in and out - after our star gazing - for $23 including tip. -

Had a good experience here.
Ordered the house wine and was pleasantly surprised at the delicious choice!
I ordered one of the specials, filet mignon on a bed of creamy risotto and portobello mushroom cap, topped with spinach and roasted red tomato.
Partner in crime ordered stuffed shrimp and a Greek beer!
Left feeling full and happy. :) -

I have never been disappointed with a visit to Andrea's, but also am not usually super impressed. On my last visit, I got the Beef Souvlaki. It was really tasty but the meat was really chewy, making it extremely difficult to eat as a sandwich. The Greek salad that comes on the side is really tasty also, but I opted for fries instead which were warm and crispy - yum! The portion size was pretty small for dinner, next time I would probably get an appetizer or salad also. The service was very good, as it always is when I go. I will definitely be back here, but it's not one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Yesterday Ii came here for lunch with two friends, We were just looking for a quick lunch. We started with the Greek Dip Platter. It didn't taste spectacular, but it wasn't horrible. It was A-OK. Then I got the chicken cous cous soup, and the Moussaka. The chicken cous cous soup was good, but it did have a layer of fat (impurities) on top of the soup which can be a turn off... My Moussaka wasn't seasoned very well, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I hope that mine was a mistake and it isn't like that every time they serve it. It was lacking flavor on every layer, the meat, the eggplant, and whatever else might have been in that. Besides that, our server Jenni was very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. She was quick and efficient and most importantly, she let me pay my bill discreetly.
I remember coming here a few years ago and getting what i believe was pita bread and hummus and it being unbelievably good. I can't remember if it was that, but there was something about this place that was really good, but yesterday it didn't quite meet our expectations. -

Awesome place for any occasion.
Have the mezze platter and the fried cheese. I usually end up only getting filled up with the apps but the one time I ate the main course vegetarian like the ravioli, it was really tasty for a Greek place. -

This place has the BEST french onion soup...like EVER. I gave four stars instead of five because the food has a HIGH sodium content. I adore salt (I put it on everything) but none is needed at this place...and I still look swollen as hell the next day. Other than that, the food is great.

OPA!!!!
So I'm all, A-OK, about this place because you can sit outside (no more than 4 at a table though) and get your people watchen' on. ALSO because the food is delicious and GIANT....but nothen' cray cray goin on.
I have had the Greek Salad, Spinach Salad--- which includes a giant brick of feta, topped with super-sized chicken or shrimp. The staff is pretty nice and you really rarely have a long wait. I have been here 3x and haven't had a bad experience yet. The Greek dressing is omg.
The prices are pretty reasonable as well. Enjoy some serious Greek nom nom. Why not 5 stars... because it hasn't BLOWN me away.
If you wanna die by feta...this is your kinda place.Listed in: Thayer Street

Meh. Mediocre food accompanied by virgin-like alcoholic drinks. Leaves much to be desired.
I ordered the vegetarian souvlaki, quite possibly one of very few vegetarian options at this restaurant. It was a sandwich with baked eggplant, zucchini, fire-roasted red pepper and kasseri cheese. It was ok.
I ordered two mimosas that did not taste like they had any alcohol in them. Just sugary sweetness. Lame. I even asked the server to ask the bartender to make the drink stronger. Honestly, I could not taste any sort of change.
Overall, I do plan not on coming back to this joint. Boo. -

Oh, Andreas, how I adore you with all of my heart and soul.
While Andreas is Americanized Greek, it's still Greek flavor and unlike any other restaurant that we really have in Providence. The interior of the restaurant is casually fancy; the bar is a bit small making it hard to maneuver around.
The prices are fair and the food is yummy yummy in my tummy. My favorites are the Taramosalata appetizer - whipped caviar with pita bread and for lunch or dinner, the Grilled Swordfish Sandwich - fresh grilled swordfish on delicious onion/rosemary focaccia bread accompanied with a caper dill mayonnaise. My mother is watering just writing this review.
The service has been up and down over the years that I've been dining at Andreas, however; I like their food so much that it keeps me coming back. -
Review from Neil B.
I have been to Andrea's many times and have never been overly impressed (unlike my brother and sister-in-law who will disagree with this review and rate the restaurant much higher!
A few nights ago I had a burger which was quite average and my girlfriend had a chicken pesto sandwich. She found the chicken to be dry and was disappointed that she was not told that the pesto was not the Italian green but a Greek red which tastes much different. On the other hand we had Saganaki as an appetizer and it was exceptionally good!
When we arrived I asked for a water with lemon. I got the water but not the lemon. No big deal and otherwise the service was fine but it is the little things that distinguish a good restaurant from an exceptional one. -
Review from Amy B.
The food was excellent, the drinks ok. Factor in the economical prices and Andreas looks like a pretty good choice for dinner in Providence.
The cheddar and broccoli potato skins we ordered as a starter were just ok, though Andreas gets points for fresh crisp broccoli. Our friends ordered an octopus starter that they let us taste; it was a bit rubbery and not something I'd go for a second time. As an entree, I had the Greek bolognese. It featured fresh pappardelle noodles bathed in a rich tomato sauce with chunks of ground lamb and beef. There was a ton of meat in this dish, and the overall serving size was huge, especially considering it cost just $13. This was one of those entrees where my stomach told me to stop eating but my mouth wanted more. Souvlaki with lamb and a chicken gnocchi with moscato sauce also drew positive reviews from our group.
I had the house red sangria and found it ok at best; the heavy lemon and lime garnishes added too much of a citrus zest to the mix. My husband's mojito was better. I'd either order wine or a cocktail next time. -

I've been going here for years (15 years?)
It's good. It's not great. Their service is wonderful - and their location is stellar.... but it's just okay.
Sorry to say...
I love Greek food - and in Montreal had so much better (who knew that Canada had the second largest concentration of Greek restaurants outside of Greece?)
If you want steady and true - this is your place. If you want extraordinary - then keep looking.... haven't found better Greek in Providence... but that's not a resounding endorsement!
Their staff really is wonderful, though. Which is why they have 3 stars from me. -

Amazing greek food (can please the pickiest eatters too) decent prices, nice ambiance, outside seating in the summer and Thayer Street parking is never that bad.

Pretty blue water glasses, modern, yet minimally decorated interior, convenient location, the intoxicating smell of greek food in the air... I really want to love Andrea's. I really do. The food is wonderful. They don't have a ton of options if you are intolerant of lactose - or make certain dietary choices. But, It's not the food that I have a gripe with, no sir. If this review were based upon food alone - 5 stars easily. It's the service I have an issue with.
Every time I go, I get an attitude. I'm not a cranky customer either. I always tip over 20%, and don't make any kind of weird or rediculous requests. I always genuinely use my please's thank you's. This past Friday, I had lunch there with an old friend. I knew I was going to be short for time, so I let them know when we were coming and what we were going to have. When we got there - our waitress didn't even say hello. She tapped her her pen on the side of her leg and said "Drinks?" This was not a huge deal. I've waitressed. It's busy, and it's the last place in the world that you want to be. The entire meal no one asked us if everything was okay, and at the end of our meal, we had to hunt for our server, and I said, "Thank you so much, our meal was lovely." She replied, "Yeah, whatever."
Really, lady? A little unnecessary. The food is delicious, the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, but the service always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. -
Review from Karen W.
One of my favorite restaurants in Providence, and an even bigger plus that it's located so conveniently on Thayer Street (this is coming from a RISD alumna).
Food: Such mouthwatering dishes that definitely satisfies a Mediterranean and Greek cuisine craving.
The variety of salads are composed fully of fresh ingredients and the huge portions always leave me with leftovers.
The souvlaki (Greek sandwiches) are great, too, mainly because of the delicious pita bread.
Environment: generally high-volume levels in the restaurant, but still a good sit-down place for a meal and conversation.Listed in: Vegg

I'm a big fan of Andreas. I love being able to head there with my girlfriends and enjoy a great beverage without tons of people squished into one area. There drink menu always has something to offer me, no matter what I'm in the mood for... i.e wine, beer, cocktail, or pitcher... The foods so-so, I've eaten there a couple times, liked it ok but not my fav place for greek. Would def recommend it for a nice app and drink night :)

I've been to Andrea's many many times over the years. And overall, have always had a pleasant experience.
Service:
I've always had prompt and friendly service. There's plenty of 2 and 4 tops, as well as group seating. In the summer, there is outdoor seating. (I love to enjoy a large cold beer in the warm summer evening air).
The food is fresh and tasteful:
I love to start off with the Calamari, and if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll have an item on their special's list -usually a fish dish. Otherwise, I'll order a spinakopita (spinach pie) and a salad with a side of tzaziki and pita.
Notes:
Over the years I've noticed some little changes in the decor of the restaurant, but nothing drastic. The bathrooms were renovated a while back and it was a vast improvement to what it was. The menus have been converted to Euros for the Providence international traveler.
Prices are decent. Overall 4 stars for above average, everything! -

Stay away if you are gluten free. I gave them two stars bc their food is excellent if you are not gf and if you are willing to eat everything their way. Today we asked for a gf plain hamburger w rice- manager told us it would be gf walking in the door and a lamb souvlaki gluten free w rice. After we ordered we were told the rice was not gf - has orzo in it and that they had no sides other than salad that would be gf.
Then when food was served the souvlaki was in a pita and the burger had not gf fries w it. Also the other kid w us was served onions on her burger after asking for no onions. Five years ago we walked out of Andreas bc they had nothing for my then 3 yr old to eat. We had hoped it had changed, clearly it hasn't which is really sad bc it was one of our favorite places pre gf. Go across the street to Kabob and Curry or to Nice Slice if you need gf. -
Review from Chris S.
We have been here twice and both times it was a bit of a mixed experience.
The Hot Meze Platter is a great way to enjoy a wide selection of apps. It is very tasty and a great way to feed several people.
They were happy to reserve a table for 7 on a Saturday night and we didn't have to wait for it to open up or for them to push tables together.
The waiter they gave us was new and that probably wasn't a great idea for such a large table. Drink orders took a long time to get from the bar to the table. He was mildy attentive but could have been a bit better.
They overcooked my wife's steak and the meatloaf (Bifteki) I had was okay...but a bit bland for greek food.
Most other people seemed to enjoy their meals.
On our previous visit we had much of the same experience. Hit & Miss on the food...and drink orders taking longer than expected.
Neat place with a lot of potential if they can just stay consistent. My guess is with the college kids propping up the business they don't need worry about high quality (i hope that doesn't come across wrong). -

Had a day to kill and went here for lunch on a weekend. Food was decent and a tad expensive for what you get, but it IS a sit down place so you've got to expect things are going to be a bit higher even though this is a college town. Environs are nothing fantastic, kind of like a coffee shop trying too hard with 80-esque black lacquer everything. After reading the other reviews from people making special trips to come here, I'm not quite sure why.
Service was quick and courteous but restaurants KILL me when you've just gotten your salad as your first course and literally 30 seconds later they're dropping off your entree. The place wasn't very crowded, so I'm not sure what the deal was; maybe it's because I was by myself and only ordered a gyro - low margin customer. :) One advantage though was the "dining by yourself" table was right by the wait station so I got to hear good local gossip - nothing juicy enough to take them back up to 3 stars though. -

My manpiece and I decided to have a late lunch at Andrea's. I wanted something to hold me over, so I figured 'ay, why not try to turkey club, simple enough.'
WRONG. How the eff can you botch up a turkey club? The bread was soggy, the tomatoes were old to the point where they were white and squishy, and the pickle looked as if it was sitting out in a back alley for days. I had the unfortunate experience to work in a touristy restaurant in Boston during college, and I remember how bad it was. I remember when they would try to sell shit like this and I would do whatever it took to make it better.
The waitress was nice but clearly it was almost the end of her shift. I asked for mayo on it, alas, no mayo. She took it back and they just put new tomatoes on it. Okay, cool, soggy bread it is.
I'm usually one to deal with shit food since I spent 5 years in the service industry and dealt with all walks of life. I'd rather not give anyone a hard time because it's honestly not worth it. But neither was my stop at Andrea's. -

Andreas made me so happy today over lunch; I love the vegetarian soulvaki but instead of the normal side (either rice pilaf or greek salad) I asked if I could have the marinated beets with it. So delicious! Many thanks to my accommodating waitress.

I love Andrea's. Conveniently located on Thayer and Meeting, it's very spacious (especially now that they've expanded it some more), the waiting staff is always VERY friendly (including the managers who are always great), the prices are very reasonable, and the food is delicious.
If you don't necessarily want anything to eat, it's a great place to go and have a drink and/or dessert.
To start off, I really like their Calamari because they also add in peppers to give a nice kick to it. For the main course, I usually go with a Souvlaki sandwich (lamb or beef), which is only about 8 bucks (it comes with salad and rice, too), but I've tried a variety of other courses and can honestly say that it's all around great food.
If you're in the mood for Mediterranean food with a nice atmosphere, Andrea's is the spot for you!Listed in: The Thayer Street All-Stars

Large menu, reasonable prices, good service, excellent food. We had a very good Greek salad and very nice moussaka, and the little one reveled in the pasta with meat sauce.
Comfortable booths, with modern decor. -

We stopped in here later in the night to curb my girl's ravenous hunger, and even though I didn't eat, she gave it rave reviews. We ended up here again for a early dinner one Sunday and sat outside enjoying the sites and sounds of Thayer. The Mediterranean dipping platter was perfect for me, and just enough to get me started. The octopus was absolutely awesome; perfectly cooked without being overly chewy. Service was on point and unobtrusive, making this a really great experience. We ordered a pitcher of sangria, which was ok, but were forced to add some other alcohol to it; in my case in the form of tequila! Definitely a spot to return, and I think probably better than average for a "touristy" part of town.

Review from Carrie U.
This place is so dark that I actually had a hard time reading the menu, and I didn't take note of the decor. However, the Chicken Gyros were really good. Very tender and fluffy. The wrap was the same way. We also ordered the Greek fries, which were yummy and not very oily like other fries. If you're gonna spend 7-8 dollars you might as well go here because that's how much my gyros cost me.
This is not a five-star restaurant so I don't know what the other reviewers were expecting. This is, after all, in a college town, so businesses have to cater to their nearby customer population. -

While visiting Providence to see Brown University, my father and I were looking for a good place to get a light meal to counter all the *lovely* airport food. Andreas was just that ticket.
They had a wide selection of salads and plates that offered a variety of meats, veggies and rice. The stuffed mushrooms and salad that came with the gyro plate were especially tasty. Service was very welcoming and helpful, although our table seemed a bit high. If I was in the area, I would definitely go there again. Great food at a great price. -

Wonderful Greek food. Huge Greek salads. Excellent grilled octopus. The baked figs in the marathon salad were amazing. Only complaint was some of the greens were a little dry. Very tasty baked feta. Baklava oozing with honey. Good selection of draft beers. Everything comes in huge portions at prices that fit a student budget.

Review from Josh F.
Andreas is a serviceable Greek restaurant that's on the main Thayer street strip, just outside Brown university in Providence.
Nothing fancy here; Gyros, Souvlaki, Greek salads, piles of meat; it will definitely satisfy your taste for Greek food and provide a reasonably priced meal. Clean establishment, courteous service, nice outdoor seating area.
Decor is strip mall esque, and food isn't overly seasoned or creative.
If you're dead set on getting your Greek fix, you could decidedly do worse. If not, there mayyyyyyyyyyyyy be a better choice within stones throw of Andreas. (Hint: there is) -

When we go to Providence for a weekend of R&R we always go to Andrea's for a late breakfast just before returning home. their breakfast fare is well prepared and they have several creative specials (benedicts, fritattas, etc) Service is always excellent and friendly. Food is plentiful and properly cooked. There are so many options in Providence for breakfast but this one has us coming back. We love to sit on the sidewalk and watch the world go by.

Looking for a great place to brunch on a Saturday morning in Providence? Andrea's is your choice. Met a couple of girlfriend's here and had a really relaxing, delicious breakfast. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside and we were so happy we did. The people watching was fantastic and the sidewalk was big enough that you didn't feel like everyone was walking on top of you - big plus.
I had a delicious breakfast. I ordered the fruit plate and was served a gorgeous plate of deliciousness. Tons of fruit, walnuts, honey and a huge dollop of marscapone cheese. Wasn't sure what to expect with that piece, but it was great. Sweet and creamy and a perfect match for the fruit. I also had a croissant which was delicious, but I would recommend ordering it ungrilled and unbuttered, but that's just my personal choice.
My two girlfriends had omelets and they looked good too, but I didn't try them at all. However the potatoes were great (I had to try those).
So, you may be asking why the 3 stars if I had such a great brunch. First, the menu is very limiting. It's really just eggs, french toast and he one fruit salad. Luckily, I found the fruit platter since the idea of eggs to me wasn't very appealing, but if that's your thing, then you're in luck.
The second reason was the bathroom. it was 11 in the morning, no one was there and when I went to the bathroom, both stalls were unusable. I'll spare you the details, but really makes me wonder if it was first thing and they were that bad. But I try not to linger on that. The good side was when I told them, they fixed it real quick! -

I have enjoyed both of my experiences here. We have not been inside because each visit was on a nice day, so we opted for the outside seating. The tables are perfect for people watching on Thayer and are roomy and comfortable.
Really great Greek food! The salads are fresh and yummy with really great feta and olives. The french onion soup is amazing. I have had the gyro plate and the french dip and they were both delicious. The service is wonderful and attentive without being overbearing. They also make giant drinks. Although delicious, I could not finish my fishbowl margarita without passing out under the table.
My partner is a picky restaurant eater, but enjoyed the pasta and salad.

We went here for dinner on Christmas. I had the spinach/feta ravioli and T had mussels & a shrimp ceasar salad. It was some of the best ravioli I have ever had! That sauce is amazing. Mmm and you have to try the Mango Mojito. Yummers.
The one complaint I have is that the server spilled a beer all over T and didn't offer to get a new one or anything. He just sort of laughed it off. Not that it's a huge deal...but still it was kind of poor behavior imo. -

Food: A+, Service: Not so much
I always see this place and it looks so sophisticated from the outside, so I decided to try it last weekend. There were five of us, and since it was a late Sunday afternoon, there was no wait which was nice since we were all starving. Everything was fine and dandy until we met our waitress...she was curt from the start and hurried us along to order. Whatever, we could deal.
The food was quite delicious! I had the feta and spinach ravioli which I would go back for any time. I highly recommend it! The rest of my party all seemed to enjoy their meals as well, with the exception of my friend who ordered a very over priced salad that was mediocre at best.
Then came the waitress again...
She actually tried to take my friend's plate while she was still eating!! I mean literally mid bite and here comes this vulture-like waitress swooping in to clear our plates prematurely. It would have been funny if she had just laughed it off and apologized instead of standing there waiting for the plate to be clear...who does that?!
Anyways, we asked for separate bills and the waitress said she could only split the bill into two, so we agreed that was fine. She came back with one bill, then proceeded to give us a hard time whilst we were paying the bill.
Andrea's certainly has done an excellent job in the kitchen, but when it comes to the staff, they seem to have forgotten about the importance of good customer service. -

I love Greek food, but I haven't found too many places that do it quite right. While in town for the weekend, Andreas himself saw us checking out the menu outside the restaurant door. He introduced himself, ensured us we'd have an excellent meal, and promised us a glass of wine on the house should we chose to go inside and have dinner. Well, as promised, we got the complimentary glass of wine as well as an excellent meal. They're weren't a ton of veg options, so they went ahead and made me a small mezze plate for my entree. Excellent. My boyfriend had the Moussaka and I'm still curious how he managed to finish the whole thing. He said it was rich, but very well prepared. If I return to Providence, I'll probably go back as I enjoy fresh, thoughtfully prepared food as well as stellar service. Thanks, Andreas.
