Stopped here while on way back from a weekend vacation in Lake Chelan for lunch.
I liked the place, it looked (little) german and the menu had been worked on to try to be authentic.
Good beer options, and I don't need to tell you what do you do when you get to a German Restaurant in a German Village!!!
Lets talk food, food wise, try the spicy sausage-chicken oktoberfest style, the spicy sausage(I forgot the name and its not listed in online menu), orcourse the Schnitzel(any type and/or kind).
If I'm coming back around here for any reason in the future, then I'm coming to this German village for sure!

A huge group of us wanted to come here while camping locally. We had to argue for reserved seating and finally a nice person gave us a reservation... seriously???

We all loved the food... who would not love a hot giant pretzle. I know my German food, and found that on this visit the red cabbage was too vinegary (is that word?) and the potato salad had slumped. We all tasted each other's foods and I can say the goulash and spetzle was perfection and may other dishes were really good.

I was ticked about the hassle, and it took the glow off this place for me. Great service and wonderful accordian player. It still gave me my fix of Germany but wish I could have had another 5 star experience.

Schniztel was excellent (even though my hubby ordered EVIL mushrooms on it, eww), came with spatzel and a lovely vinegar cabbage side dish.  The goulash was very tasty and I'd highly recommend it if you're craving something to warm your tummy on a cold day.  Could've used some veggies with it, but maybe I'm the only person in the world who wants veggies on vacation. :)

Service was nice, little slow at times but we weren't in a rush.  We wanted to stay and listen to the accordian player but there was a line out the door and we didn't want to hold anyone up.

Fun decor, good beverage list (although darn expensive!).  Overall not too shabby for a tourist restaurant.  If I was in the mood for schintzel it wouldn't be hard to get me to go back here.

Service was great, atmosphere was fantastic and authentically German, and the live accordion music after 6 was definitely an experience. But by far the best part of our visit was the food. The weinkraut was like nothing I've ever tasted before, but I couldn't stop eating it, and everything else we had was great. I went with the Oktoberfest chicken myself and it was perfectly seasoned and prepared.

This place is certain to become one of those I have to visit anytime I come to Leavenworth. It's a bit of a hidden gem.

Awesome. Great food, strong Bavarian atmosphere, live accordion music. Had the Hungarian goulash, schnitzel cordon bleu, and ham. All three were amazing and for dessert we had the black forest cake, Nutella cheesecake, and the Russian Crumb Cake. The Russian cake was the best, but all three were good. Service was a little subpar for how expensive the dishes were. I don't know if it was a German thing or they just don't like to pass things out. They set everything on the edge of the table and walked away. It was about $90 bucks for 3 with no alcohol, but dessert for all. Overall great food, great atmosphere.

We had a lovely traditional meal.  The pork hock and a schnitzel with cream sauce.  Man the pork hock was giant!!!  I asked for a chicken schnitzel and got pork :-(.  However I ate it because it was so tender.

    The service was excellent.

Everything was great right down to the mustard.

Had the similar  meals at another place in town and while good was no where near as fantastic as Andreas.  I guess there is a reason for it being on the list of 1000 place to eat before you die.

You walk down the staircase, pondering if you've made the right choice out of all the German restaurants around. Since my husband and I were going to be there for 3 days, we might as well try it out.

When you walk in, it's cute, very typical German restaurant you'd find on the whole street. The service is wonderful, maybe because we are there on their off-season, but that is perfect. We get a table in the back room, closest to the kitchen, so we can watch people bring out food after food and more food.

Opening the menu, there is pickled herring. Ah, my husband is adventurous. We have never tried pickled herring and say, okay, let's go for it. When it comes to the table, hubby loves it! It tastes like stinky fish in pickle juice. Hubby loves pickles, I am trying hard to get past the fishy smell. It wasn't bad, I mean, it's herring. You either love it or hate it, you know.

A platter of sausages arrive, love love loveeee it all. I guess I started getting hungrier. Or maybe sausage is more MY thing. Maybe. The husband does not enjoy the sausages as much as I did. He said he's had better. And the mustard wasn't as good as the ones we had at Munchen Haus.

The guy who plays the accordion is so cool. We were talking about how he left to live in Lynnwood in Seattle and that he comes back to Leavenworth time and time again because he can never leave. He tells mostly everyone that was born there, comes back over and over again.

And we will. Even if we weren't born there.

Went here for lunch service was a little lacking for how many people where there.

The food was decent they had a lot of choices of sausage.  The german potato salad was really good.

The music playing was a bonus.  And they had a good selection of German beer.

It was a tourist trap so the food was americanized so it was a little disappointing not to find better German food in Leavenworth.

If you both want sausage get on sausage plate with the sides and the sausage appetizer that will be enough for both of you to share!

This place has a great feel about it... it's located down below street level in a space that's been fully reworked with the bavarian theme. The booths are made out of giant beer barrels, the staff is dressed up, and there's a live accordion player.

They have a lot of german beers here, quite a few on tap. Around $24 for a pitcher of beer is pretty steep, but they're good beers you're unlikely to get anywhere else; plus the cool atmosphere deserves at least a little premium. Good brats and other german food. Great house mustard.

The restaurant is really cute and i love the atmosphere, it reminds me of fantasyland in Disneyland. The accordian player was a nice touch. I ordered the stuffed Schnitzel which was delish. My husband ordered the Sausage platter which he said was good, but nothing special. Next time we go back were going to try the giant ham hock that everyone else was ordering.

We came here for dessert after eating dinner elsewhere, and I wish now that we had eaten the whole meal at Andreas Keller.

The setting is nice and comfy, in a basement cellar. They had a live accordion player (who the ladies all agreed was hunky) and the service was good. I had the strudel, which was fantastic, and my friends had the lemon cheesecake, which they loved.

I'll be back for dinner next time!

I had the vegetable beef soup and it was amazing. The beef was tender and the broth was very flavorful. My girlfriend got the chicken and gave me some. It was really tasty too.

What I really liked about this place is that it is underground and what I would assume a German restaurant would actually look like. Because it is underground, you get no phone reception. This means you need to take your picture and save it before sending it off to friends or posting on Facebook (I do that ok!).

The atmosphere of this restaurant is kickass. It's underground and we were seated in a somewhat enclosed booth. Made us feel that were sitting in a large wine vat.

I had a schnitzel sandwich and German potato salad (warmed, of course!). So tasty. My girl got the sausage sampler. She was very happy with her choice and the side of kraut.  The potato salad was one of two items I had while visiting Leavenworth that made me want to go for seconds, thirds and possibly fourths. I tried the German potato salad at Muchen Haus and I nearly cried. Why did I cheat on Andreas Keller? The one here was about 175 times better than the other place.

The service was good. The wait staff were pleasant and checked in with us to see if we needed anything.

A side note: the mustard that we used on the sandwich and with the sausages was made by the restaurant. Sooooooo good!

When we hit Leavenworth again, we'll be making a stop here again.

Meh.  The menu is basically different variations of sausage, potatoes and kraut.  Portions are large with a pricepoint to match.  Everything seems to have been marinated in vinegar.

I'm mixed on this one.  I wouldn't say 'Yay I'm a fan' accurately describes my rating but it is better than 'A-OK' as well.  3.5 stars.

Was in Leavenworth for some snow fun and not having been there I was looking forward to enjoying some German fare.  My friends suggested Cafe Christa but Yelp said otherwise.  We decided on Andreas Keller.

I've been to Germany (Berlin) and I will say the second I walked in it reminded me of one of the places we went to in Berlin as far as atmosphere goes.  I had some high hopes.

It wasn't busy but for some reason we had really bad service.  It wasn't mean service, just slow and not attentive.  Overall my dining experience was "slow service, good food."

In Berlin the pretzels they served in restaurants were unbelievably good.  I promptly ordered one here.  Fresh baked?  Yes.  On par with mother Deutschland?  Not even close.  The pretzel needs help.  It was good, but not great.

I had the Sahne Schnitzel.  It was good to me.  I thought the spatzle was great as well.  Overall I was happy with my food selections.  My wife had the kraut soup, which I didn't try because I don't like kraut.  The Spezi drink was a nice touch as well.

If I was back in Leavenworth I wouldn't have a problem going here again for dinner.  Again, not the best, but more than 'OK' for me.

    Kids loved the accordion player.

    Somewhat enjoyable German style chowdown.

I have to admit.  I love me some German food.  I love the red cabbage.  I love meat that has been beaten, cursed at, battered and then flash fried and served with a sauce that sounds like it is a dirty move that an invading army perpetrates on the cabaret performers in occupied towns.  I like how they have a non-Italian word for home made pasta.

Serious food.  Food that you must wash down with beer.  Any other action would be clearly wrong.

This place almost pushes over the hill to the four star plateau, but their panzers ran out of gas on the flavor battlefield.

It is clear that this is not a German restaurant that is trying to be very good.  This is a mom and pop operation in a town that decided to be Bavarian and so they cook German food.  If they chose to be a rasta town, these people would be making three star jerk chicken; it lacks something and to me, that makes me sad.

The food at this restaurant is terrible, unless you like very authentic German food. I ate only the soup and one piece of bread and had a stomach ache for the rest of the night. Someone told us the pretzels were great so both of our kids got one with their kids meal, and they were dry and tasteless. The only good thing I have to say about this place us that the service was good and the inside was nicely decorated, but none of that matters if the food isn't edible!!

Another favorite place to go when in Leavenworth.

Food tasty - particularly like their schnitzel's.  We had one and a ginormous sausage to share, with two steins of beer.  This is the runner up place to eat if Ludwig's is full, or you need a different place to go to eat.  It is a little less rowdier than Ludwig's too.

Before my first visit to Leavenworth, I scouted Yelp for the best German lunch and this was the result. We almost missed it because it's underground, like a hidden little gem.

I was disappointed when we stopped in because it was not very busy, but the host admitted they were understaffed and we'd have to wait to be seated (about 10-15 minutes). Once we were seated, however, the service was great. Our order was taken quickly and the lone waiter checked in on us several times. He even took pictures/video for other guests dining there. We never felt rushed; it was an enjoyable experience.

Having been born in Germany and visited family on several occasions, the ambiance was close to the "real" thing and felt very nostalgic for me.

My husband and I ordered the schnitzel sandwich with chicken, while I opted for fries and he got the potato salad (which was delicious). The breading on the chicken was flavorful, but nothing else came on the sandwich besides lettuce and the fresh bun. Something should be added to enhance the flavor, perhaps a gravy/sauce.

My parents both ordered the Jaegerschnitzel (pork, Swiss cheese, mushroom gravy and spaetzel) and enjoyed it. My mom, a native German, said the food was some of the best she's had in the US besides her own home-cooking.

When playing tour guide to future guests, we'll likely bring them here.

Good food, good beer, cozy booths! Hard to find with all the crazy signs for shops and restaurants on the main drag - don't look up, look down! ;)

Once inside, ask for a booth! I liked the red winekraut at King Ludwig's better, but the white winekraut here is still good. The "giant" pretzel is indeed HUGE, enough for 2-3 people if you're getting other food too. The sausages are great, and don't forget to try the homemade mustard. Potato salad is good too. I would say say Andreas Keller vs. King Ludwig's is about a draw for best german food in town. This place has a more laid-back atmosphere as opposed to the beerhall vibe at king Ludwig's. The waitstaff is MUCH friendlier here, too.

They have live accordion music going all the time, it's great! The guy playing was the son of the owner or somehting, he was really nice and stopped at each table to talk with people. The guy recognized us from the day before, as did our waitress who even offered us a discount for having spent so much time there the day before (seriously, our friend broke his foot and him and another guy sat there for about 4 hours drinking beers and eating giant pretzels!). so, overall a really great vibe at this place! try the different sausages or some schnitzel, and definitely get a pretzel.

This will be the first place we return to next time we're in town!

The atmosphere was nice and the service was fine, but the food did not match up. It was expensive for Denny's quality food. Although some of the pork was juicy, it lacked flavor. The only flavorful portion of the dish was the overly powerful red cabbage (sauerkraut?). In addition, the sauce that topped the pork was salty and tasted as if it were from a store bought packet. Finally, the portion of pork was too small for the large amount of noodles given. Overall, the meal was filling, but disappointing.

If you go to Leavenworth, you have to eat here! Having been to the former West Germany in the early days of my Naval career, this is very authentic. It is in the basement, (underneath an ice cream shoppe and another German restaurant above that), but the food is top-drawer!

Now, in the interest of full-disclosure, I am not a real big fan of German or Russian food, it is always a bit to heavy for me, but I like to have during the holidays. This year, I decided to have the sausage sampler platter from the appetizer menu with the Weisswurst (not one of my favorites) Knackwurst, Bratwurst and Polish Sausage. I also added the German Potato salad (nothing like the grocery store variety you get in Seattle as theirs is vinegary) and picked at my wife's winekraut (not a fan of that either but I can't stand sauerkraut).

On previous visits I've had the Kassler Kotletts and the Bavarian Beef Goulash, but the portions are so big I've never been able to order dessert. This time we splurged on the Apple Streudel, Nutella Cheesecake and Peanut Butter Chocolate cake. That cheesecake was AWESOME!! I'd highly recommend you to get some when you visit.

    What the...

So I wish I had dinner with some of the other Yelpers who are like, raving about this place.

The food was...pretty Gross actually.  Flavorless schnitzels sickly in color with curiously stretchy/chewy casings - does that mean it's "authentic?"  I tried two different kinds, and both had that steamy dishwatery taste and water balloon texture.  The kraut was a bland sopping mess as well, meaning the only thing I had to fill up on was my kaiser roll.  Freshly made roll, but a dry attempt.  I was starving, so I went all balls-out and piled the meat and kraut on the roll and choked 75% of it down.  Couldn't manage the rest.  Their pepsi machine was a little off-kilter and delivered a blend that was all syrup, and no bubbles to wash all that crap down with.

The atmosphere was pretty tired.  We were seated in a barrel with a mirror on one side.  Not quaint and charming, just sticky from a day of many kid-hands wiping Bavarian Kinderfood on it.   Our server was majorly hating life - for which I do not blame him.  I would probably be lamenting the Dishwater Wieners and Kinderhands and Drunkeltourists  too if I were in his shoes.

If I hadn't needed to drive right after dinner I would have gotten a mug of something to blur away the details.  I didn't have that luxury though so I had to experience it in full.  As we left I tried to make a forewarning face with "knowing eyes" at the people standing outside looking at the menu.

    Pukelschpatzel.

I came here after a long day hiking with a friend and had a nice time.  For half our hike all we could talk about were wieners, schnitzel and beer.  We hightailed it back to town, parked and made a beeline for Andreas Keller.  My hiking partner had been here before and we thought it would be a safe bet.

We started off with the sausage sampler, which lets you choose three from six of their varieties.  We chose the knackwurst, polish sausage and weisswurst.  All were good, but I didn't find any of them especially exciting.  I liked their spicy stone-ground mustard, but it would have been nice to have more than one kind of mustard to sample.  For our main entree we split their "cordon bleu" schnitzel.  Again, it was tasty, but it seemed rather ordinary.  It comes with some springy German noodles which I thought were rather bland.  The meal came with a simple side salad of green leaf lettuce and a tangy ranch vinaigrette--only they forgot ours and I had to ask for it.  We also split a side of sauerkraut.

They have a number of German beers on tap, although they were out of my first choice, the pils.  Instead I had a refreshing 20oz lager.  My friend chose the hefeweizen, which isn't my favorite variety but I judged to be pretty good.  However, I felt like the beer prices were rather expensive; $6 for a 14oz glass, $8 for 20oz or $24 for a 72oz pitcher.  They offer samplers and a selection of bottled beers.

The atmosphere was fun and the periodic live accordion music was entertaining.  The one drawback is the poor acoustics.  Low ceilings, wood paneling everywhere and loads of people made it rather loud.  The service was friendly, but could have been a little more attentive.

I'm no aficianado of German cuisine, so take my review with a grain of salt.  We enjoyed our food, but it just didn't seem too remarkable.  It was also a tad expensive, the whole tab coming to nearly $70 (with tip).  I think that might be par for the course in Leavenworth though, as it seemed to me like the prices were rather high everywhere we looked.  I might come back to Andreas Keller someday, but I'm going to see what else Leavenworth has to offer first.

Maybe I'm just not a fan of schnitzel, but our "schnitzel cordon bleu" tasted like a cheesy, salty, chicken fried steak.  I mean, if you like that kind of thing it was passable, but for $22 it was a bit pricy for me.  I did like the spatzle, though.

The service was nothing to rave about, not slow but neither were we checked on between food delivery and the check.  Then when the check came the server was plainly hovering over us even though we had about a bucket of beer left to drink.

The decor was very themed and the kid at the table next to us clearly loved it, as well as the live accordion music.  A good place for kids.

The beer was pricy too but at 72 oz per pitcher, what can one do but drink it?

I think if I returned to Leavenworth I would try a different German restaurant.  This one put us off German food for the remainder of our stay.

I would give this 5 stars but for one reason: in a town that purports to be authentic Bavarian, no, I repeat, no, authentic glassware was used in ANY of the bars/restaurants we went into.  And other than this place, the selection SUCKED

Leavenworth is like EPCOT minus the 350 pound Southerners.  Sure the Safeway has Bavarian script on its marquee, but people in lederhosen do not Munich make.

So why did I only review Andreas Keller?  Because my wife and I literally walked into five other restaurants: Gustav's (incompetent hostess crossed out our name on the waiting list, plus only 2 German beers on tap?), Munchen Haus (2 German beers, but fun outdoor garden), King Ludwig's (VERY antiseptic), and two others that served food that could not be remotely described as Continental.  Andreas Keller was in a basement and had a very cool, Bavarian vibe to it.  We also had the Shweinsaxe, the rotisserie ham hock, and it was REALLY good, if a project to eat.  Also, the only joint In Leavenworth we saw that had Hacker Pschorr vom fass and Ayinger by the bottle.

Seattleites, unless you itching to get out of the city to an admittedly very pretty mountain town, head to Feierabend for a better German beer selection than anywhere in Leavenworth and solid German food to wash down.

The portions look big but its just a lot of kraut, not much meat on any dish.
very marginal at best, my advice skip this place or just eat the pretzels and have a beer those are the best menu items they have here.

Decor was authentic, entertainment - good, German music.

What a great restaurant. I wanted some authentic Bavarian cuisine after being here in Leavenworth and am so glad I came to this establishment.

This restaurant is nestled down in a basement, and most days after 6PM they have live music! The venue is really authentic feeling with good lighting, and as I stated before the live music really adds a great vibe.

I ordered a 20 oz glass of their dopplebock beer which was very tasty and coupled it with the Schweinhaxe. After reading the other reviews of this place, I just HAD to try this dish. I ordered the medium (as it comes in 3 sizes) and the server said that the medium would easily feed 2 people. After he said this I knew this was the right size for me.

When this plate came out my eyes got wide and stomach began to growl even more! The pork hock was served with German fried potatoes (very tasty) and some red cabbage and fresh sauerkraut. I managed to finish the entire dish and was VERY full.

All in all this place is great if you want some authentic, very tasty Bavarian food. Come later in the evening so you can take advantage of the live music, and bring an appetite!

Good Schweinshax'n (roasted pork leg), kraut, etc. Nice selection of German beers. You can also buy and take home mustard and imported German curry ketchup (use this to make the famous 'currywurst' dish at home).

It's a bit pricey, but understandable since this is a tourist town.

In my opinion this is "The place" if you go to leavenworth. I drive from Issaquah to leavenworth (Aprox 2:30 hrs) just to have a Schweinshaxe (A giant "Munich-Style" rotisserie-broiled pork hock) that they do and is awesome.

The perfect companion for this plate is a pitcher of Paulaner Hefe Weizen with the foam and some german music (evening).

The service is very good and if you are not a big fan of the Schweinshaxe  you can order the sausages which are also very good.

Was in Leavenworth for a second round of Oktoberfest (it's a tradition!) and decided a sit down meal that didn't involve cafeteria style seating would be nice.  Enter Andreas Keller.

First off, it's really nice - it's in the basement of a building and there's lots of gorgeous woodwork.  (Worth noting is the rather lovely door leading to the bathrooms.)  Our server was really nice and the food was good.  And as strange as "cream of saurkraut soup" sounds, believe me, this is so worth trying it isn't even funny.

Good selections of beers and wines (especially local wines!) and just an overall good time.  One star docked because we felt REALLY rushed and they accidently charged us for a bottle of wine instead of the glass.  The server was apologetic about it and we know that this sort of thing happens, but then they continued to rush us out the door.  Granted, they had a line that could put Space Mountain in Disneyland to shame, but still...

    BAD SERVICE AND BAD FOOD.
We thought this should be a pretty decent restuarnt but we were wrong. we ordered the most common German food on the menu - pork hock and jager schnitzel both of them were not good quality at all.
Pork hock was dry and very pricy compare with other nearby restaurants. jager schnitzel is the biggest disappointment as this is the worst i have ever had, it is not like any of the jager schnitzel i had before - the meat was super dry and no taste at all.
Service was bad - the server did not check on us till he is ready to bring out the bill even though there was only one table beside ours and didn't even ask us how was the food either. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Save your money to spend on other nearby restaurant.

We found a flier for Andreas Keller in the information pack in our cabin, so we decided to make this our first meal in Leavenworth.  Neither my husband nor I have ever been to Leavenworth before, so we weren't sure what to expect.  If I had written this review right after our meal, it would have been 3 stars.  After experiencing several other Leavenworth culinary institutions, I've decided to grade on a curve and go with 4 stars.

Probably the best thing about this place is the atmosphere.  They really weren't shy about going for over-the-top Bavarian, and I liked it a lot.  Tables and chairs made out of nice sturdy wood, booths that looked like giant barrels, and Bavarianish flowers painted everywhere made for a truly lovely dining experience.  The accordion player was definitely my favorite part!  He struck the right balance of playing songs and taking breaks, so that we were able to enjoy the music but still have a conversation.  It was also adorable to watch all the little kids surround him in awe.

The food was fine.  We started with a small pretzel and sausage platter, both of which were acceptable, although I wish the sausage platter came with some weinkraut.  The best part of our appetizer was the house-made stone ground mustard, which you can apparently purchase jars of.  As an entree I had the jager schnitzel and was neither blown away nor disappointed.  The meat itself was a bit bland and chewy for my taste, but they covered it up with a tasty gravy.  The husband got the cordon bleu schnitzel, which I was a bit jealous of, as the meat was fried nicely and juicier with the same gravy.  Both entrees came with spaetzle, a German pasta that I didn't like at first but grew on me as I kept eating it.

My big disappointment here was with the service.  I couldn't determine if they were understaffed or if the servers just weren't efficient, but something wasn't right.  They don't seem to have a dedicated host position, so when we walked in we had to stand around for several minutes before a server approached the host desk and took our name.  Once we were seated we had a view of the host stand and waiting area and watched as groups waited, and waited, and waited, while tables around us stayed bussed and empty for upwards of 30 minutes.  No one seemed interested in getting people seated.  Our waitress was nice enough, but she seemed in a big hurry and never checked on us after delivering our food.  We sat with empty glasses for quite awhile and were only able to flag the waitress down once our meal was finished and we needed the check.  If she had checked on us we would have ordered more drinks, resulting in a larger bill and thus a larger tip.

Overall though, I will definitely come back here next time I'm in Leavenworth and would absolutely recommend this place over King Ludwig's, which seems to be the biggest competition.  Hopefully the servers were just having an off night.

Very friendly staff. Nice Bavarian decor. Wait and price for meals was excessive. Nothing special about the variety of food.  schnitzel , brotwurst, red cabbage - German party food.

Here for New Years. The live music was great along with the service. I had hoped for better food but it wasn't bad at all. The Berlin Inn in Portland has spoiled me.
