Awesome tailor!  I brought in a vintage gown that needed a little extra love since it was so delicate.  He worked his magic and I will def be taking my stuff to him in the future.

Andy is the go-to guy for any tailoring, whether it is a business suit or a party dress. He has altered clothing for my entire family, including new suits for my husband, sport coats and pants for my son, and pants, skirts, jackets and dresses for me. He is a talented tailor; his work is meticulous and reasonably priced. There is nobody better in San Francisco when you factor in talent and cost (or in New York, for that matter...I bring my things back here on layovers for alterations).

He will give you an honest appraisal of your clothing, too, which I appreciate. I had an expensive camel hair coat from the '90s (with shoulder pads out to here!) which I hoped to wear again with a more modern fit. He told me it would take over $200 to change it and suggested that it would be better to put that money toward a new coat and save the old one as "vintage."

Since he is so good, sometimes he is quite busy. Be sure to call in advance when you are picking things up so that you can be sure they will be ready.

This man knows his stuff! I have a strapless Betsey Johnson dress that I absolutely adore and it needed tailoring. It's ruffly and covered in sequins, definitely not simple. I was afraid to hand it off to anyone for tailoring since I didn't want it to get cut up, but Andreas knew exactly what he was doing! He added straps to it and his work was even stronger than the wimpy straps that came with the dress (and broke).

I would definitely go back to him  and recommend him to any woman out there who has an intricate dress that needs some work. He will fit it to your shape!

This review is mostly of the service.    The quality of the work was good, the service was lacking though.

First off, I felt like I was intruding or a bother when coming into this place.   Gee, I'm soo sorry that I am coming into your shop to give you business, please exucse me.

I took an expensive dress in to get hemmed.   Easy enough.   Tried on the dress, agreed on a length.   I asked how much and was quoted.  I asked when it would be ready, and he said next Thursday.  Great.  Thanks, see you then.

The next Thursday I used my lunch break to get the dress.   Walked in and was once again greeted somewhat coldly.

"Hi, I'm here to pick up my dress"
    Hand him the ticket.

    .......can't find it forever.

    comes back.

"It won't be ready until later today"

    Uhhhhhh...ok.

WTF.   I'm sorry but when you say it will be ready on Thursday I assume anytime on Thursday.   If it won't be ready until 5 pm on Thursday say so.   Or say Friday.

    He didn't even apologize.

    I won't be back.

The guy knows his tailoring and does a good job with it, especially shirts.

That said, don't expect your garment back on time.  Even if he gives you a specific date, it may not be ready on time.  I had to come back on 3 non-successive days before it was ready.  In addition, prices seem a bit steep but I guess you're getting good worksmanship for it.

My sister-in-law was kind enough to get me a nice dress shirt from Saks for Christmas, and the cut was even a "slim fit".  The funny thing was.. I put it on and the shirt was as though it was 2 sizes too large.  Though the neck fit fine, everything was excessive... the torso and the arms of the shirt.  I took it to Andreas the first time, along with another shirt that was more in line but still needed to be taken in.  When I tried on this Saks shirt for him, he said that it'll likely  be a lot to cut... so I had him take in just the other shirt, and brought the Saks shirt home (my sis-in-law couldn't exchange cause this was the only size that had this pattern of shirt (which I truly do look). So I thought I'd be stuck with a 'baggy' dress shirt.

But when I got my first shirt back from Andreas, it was superbly done!  Nice (true) slim fit.  This was the exact fit that I wanted..and I was so impressed that I decided to bring back this Saks shirt anyhow!  He remembered it from the first attempt and said that he'd give it a go.  I tempered my expectations because I thought the shirt might lose some of it's shape.  But I got it back today and the shirt looks amazing and fits so well.  I've got a pretty normal build (not fat and not waif-skinny) so it's not like he had to go to the extremes... but I'm really impressed by the workmanship of the final product.

I'd totally recommend Andreas for any of your dress-shirt alteration needs (that's all I've used him for so far)!

Do NOT go here if you have anything nice - they will butcher it and not apologize!

I got an expensive John Varvatos jacket as a gift - sleeves too long as always.  When I had it shortened, the cuffs were hacked to shreds.  They were no longer vented, though they had been before, and the lining was stitched together like frankenstein's monster to cover up for the fact that the vents had been removed in the process.  The sleeve button was in the wrong place too.

I complained and they said they'd fix it - but didn't.  Instead they sewed a useless fake buttonhole on the vent and called it a day.  The jacket didn't have fake buttonholes like that before - and if I take it out the fabric will be ruined!

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I was sadly disappointed in Andreas Gorges Tailoring!

Last month, I called Andreas Gorges to make an appointment to have some alterations done for a wedding dress that I knew would be needed in a pinch. I called Andreas based on the rave reviews received here on Yelp. I spoke with the son, who was very helpful and nice. He said it would be no problem to make the appointment and that they would have ample time to get my dress alterations done in time for my flight to Hawaii.

I went in (a week earlier than my originally set appointment!) and was told by papa Andreas that he wouldn't be able to help me. I explained that I made an appointment for the following week and was told that it would not be a problem and thought it would be even more convenient that I could begin the alterations a week ahead of time.

He said no - asked who made the appointment for me (his son) and then proceeded to tell me his son was wrong!

Poor customer service on papa Andreas' part!!

Needless to say, it was a good thing because I found another tailor in the building who wound up being much friendlier, faster and less expensive (Seymour's Fashions!!!!!).

I'm a man of the world. When it come to clothing, I like my threads European slim, made in America and at Chinese prices. I prefer the expert hands of Italian weavers to the work of underaged Thai children. I prefer the feel of Egyptian fibers to the brown bag roughness of Indonesian industrialuxe.

About a year ago, before my big backpacking trip (cough: http://keane.festizio....), I dropped off two pairs of jeans for tailoring. I figured if I was going to traverse sweatily across the East Coast, I may as well look nice to compensate for my smell. The pair of Diesels were actually deemed untouchable by another FiDi tailor, but now, thanks to Andreas, I wear them every day. (I mean, everyday.)

And so, when it comes to tailoring, I trust no one but Andreas Gorges.

In fact, I just dropped off some more clothes and was out faster than Superman on his honeymoon. Their superior service still stands tall after all this time (also like Superman on his honeymoon).

However, here is a bit of advice: don't wear skinny jeans before going to a place that requires changing, or you might end up grunting and thrashing about, in an effort to remove them expeditiously, in such a way that others might think an impregnated cow was stuck in the changing room...

    I said "might."

I am elegant and awesome, and thus this was not the case with me.

I have a long waist and short stumpy legs.  I also have a really mean exboyfriend  who just loooved to point this out.  Every pair of pants is predestined to be too long and with that I've had my fair share of hemming / alteration nightmares.

I bought pair of Seven jeans from a consignment shop because I'm cheap and can't bring myself to fork over $175 for a pair of pants, only to pay MORE to have them hemmed.  My local tailor has been looking a little rickety lately and I don't trust her with my (secondhand) designer threads.

Andreas Gorges seems to normally work on suits, but was more than happy to hem my pants.  The length was perfect and the original thread and detailing was included in the hemming.  All in all I was a happy customer.

    A couple of things though...
The young woman who measured the hem quoted me $15.  When I picked up the pants, I was charged $20.  Not a big deal, but hmmmm...

Andreas was out of town so the pants were at the tailor's for nearly a month.  It's ok, everyone needs a vacation.

The location is tricky to find.  The space is located inside an office building on the second floor of all the way to the back of a narrow hallway.  I spent 15 mins of my lunchbreak standing on the corner of Sutter and Montgomery with a big fat question mark over my head looking extremely befuddled.

How do I adore thee, Andreas Gorges? Let me count the ways.

    1. You remember my order by the sound of my voice, the look of my face, or the color of my article. Somehow if I forgot all three, you would probably still know who I am.
    2. You are a rabid perfectionist yet a flexible realist.
    3. You are conveniently located close to BART.
    4. You have an awesome office. It's so quiet.
    5. You were smoking a cigarette outside when I walked into your building yesterday, and I fully expected to wait for you for a couple of minutes. But when I came into your office, your office phone rang and you bounded in from out of nowhere to answer it, and still took the time to courteously inform me that you would be with me in a second.

I don't imagine you need more business from your loving patrons, but a little bit more love never hurt no one. People, go see Andy.

I have had Andreas tailor three suits and three sport coats for me.  Excellent job every time, and he managed to fix a couple of botched jobs from an old tailor.

I am tall&trim and wear a size 40/42 for my shoulders.  Most suit manufacturers don't include nearly enough of a drop to get close to my waist and non-existent butt, so good tailoring is essential to avoid the droopy crotch/seat best-buy salesman look.

Andreas has done such good and consistent work that I will probably have him make a made-to-measure suit for me.

Amazing tailor! He is the one to go to if you need to take in pants, jackets and anything in-between. I have gotten pants taken in at other places and they did a horrible job but Andreas gets the fit perfectly. I even asked him to do the ridiculous task of taking a bikini bottom and he was up to the challenge and did an amazing job.

My bf also has gotten pants hemmed and taken in with fantastic results. Not sure why people complain that he is a little pricey, he is totally reasonable and considering the excellent job he does, who cares if he is $5 more than a chinatown tailor? As my momma always says - you get what you pay for. In this case, I get more than what I paid for.

    This guy rules!

How can I say this when I haven't had any work done by him? THAT is precisely why.

I went in this morning before work with a new overcoat slung over my shoulder, hoping to get the shoulders taken in.

I was greeted with a smile, loaned a suit jacket to wear to try the thing on, and then summarily told that the jacket needs nothing done; the shoulders will automatically smooth out and fit as I wear it.

Amazing. This was a great opportunity to charge me money just because, but what a guy!

You can be sure I'll be coming here if I ever actually need something done!

After reading all the sterling reviews on here about him,  I decided to trust in the Yelp gods and take my Cloak jeans and Paul and Joe cardigan in to get some repairs and alterations done.

Andy was super nice,  let me tell him exactly what I wanted,  and then did some markings/pins to make the adjustments.  A week later I returned (it took him a couple extra hours,  but I had things to do anyway,)  And voila!  My sweater (which was XL) now fits perfectly,  he even moved up the elbow patches!  Oh and those jeans,  he did a great hem and restitched all the seams!

I am totally impressed,  and have finally found the tailor I was always hoping for.  Now I have someone fabulous to refer my clients at Rolo out to!

I love me some Andreas.  The bridesmaids dresses that were picked for my sister's wedding only went down to a size 4.  Seeing as I'm teeny tiny, smaller than a zero even, Andreas had his work cut out for him.  I was an annoying beeatch because when I came back a couple days later, it fit perfectly but I changed my mind about the length.  He didn't sigh or roll his eyes or anything!  A couple days later, I come back and it's absolutely perfect.  He improved the dress and made it look way better than it was even supposed to.  A+++++.

Then there's the price.  He changed EVERYTHING about this dress, altered it two times, and then I had him sew on this stupid sash thing.  $30.  I thought I heard him wrong.  But no.  $30.  Love love love him!!!!

I've been going to Mr. Gorges for about a year now.  I read in some style manual that everything you buy should be tailored, so I've started taking everything here.  The book was right, tailoring makes even a less expensive suit look better and Mr. Gorges is wonderful, does such a great job.  My clothes all fit like a dream.

My husband goes there for everything as well, and has had two pair of dress pants and about five shirts made there. WOW, they are really beautiful, gorgeous fabric and an absolutely stellar fit.  The shirts are amazing. No more baggy, saggy armed shirts for him.  They were  less expensive than Pink so why would you buy off the rack?

Lately, I've been on a quest for pants, yet every pair I find says "fitted through thigh."  Now, I don't know what designer came up with the idea that women look good with fabric tight on their thighs, but that designer should be hunted down and waterboarded.

After about a month of frustration, my husband said, "for god's sake, just go to Andy already."  So I went in and asked him if he'd be able to make a pair of female pants.  He looked right at my thighs and asked if I wasn't having any luck in the stores.  AAAHH!!! He stared at my thighs!!  He knows they're too fat for contemporary clothing!!  My husband assured me that someone who will be making me pants SHOULD stare at my thighs, and it likely has nothing to do with my Mary Lou Retton thighs (must cut back on squats), but likely that he simply knows how pants are being made right now.  I am slightly mollified (and very impressed with my husband's mad spinning skills).

In that case, THAT is a man I would trust my pants to.  He knew exactly what my beef was.

I'm going back next month to be fitted and I'll let everyone know how it works out, but based on myprior experiences with him, I'm expecting happy results.

And he always has my stuff ready when he says he will, I just always call a day or so in advance to remind him I'm coming in.

    Excellent service, excellent price.

Andy is an amazing tailor - I highly recommend him with your finest suit or clothing needs.  (I thought I had reviewed before, as this review is for 2 of my visits.)
A nice Italian Suit: I got a nice Italian Suit for a great price at Loehmans.  Andy did his magic and the suit is without question my best.  Not only is his sizing correct, but the craftsmenship is perfect.
Wool Pants:  I brought in a pair of 30 year old vintage wool pants that were a good 2 inches tight at waist.  Again, he did his magic and I have perfectly fit wool christams pants.  This was a tough job, and he did a fine job.
Andy is prompt with your sizing, and has a reasonable turnaround time.  His pricing is worth it, if you value your suit or garment.  This is not a place for a cheapo garment, so dont expect a quick $10 rush job.
I think you can even get custom cloting made too, have not checked into that.

    Positives:

    1) Fast service! I dropped my bridesmaid's dress off and it was ready after a week!

    2) Cheap service! They took my dress in, took the hem up, and reattached a clasp and it was $55.

    3) Cute guy works there.

    Negatives:

    1) No AC in the place so I was burning up putting on my overly heavy dress!

    2) Weird location. It is in a office building that is going through construction so it is weird to get to...especially on weekends!

    3) Cute guy works there...yes, this is a positive and negative because it is nice that he is cute, but at the same time it is embarrassing because I am hot and sweaty and half in my dress. Not a cute sight!

I would definitely go here again...especially considering that my mind was elsewhere when I picked up my dress and I forgot to tip them...so I will definitely have to bring something back to get altered!

I have a friend, a girl I roomed with in college for one semester (she then went abroad), who has a very...youthful sense of style. And when I say "youthful," I mean "mildly inappropriate." She's a wonderful girl, but bless'erheart, a cutoff denim miniskirt is not always appropriate attire for dinner. She used to say to me, "Adriana, you always dress like a grown-up! How do you always look like a grown up?" Well, roomie (and everyone else reading this), here's the secret: well-made clothes that actually fit your body well and aren't just cut for some generic body shape. That's it! Well, that, and I ditched the cutoff denim miniskirts for most occasions, except sunny days at the park or on the beach, when I was about 17.

But to wear clothes that fit you well, sometimes you need a tailor. And if you're going to pay for a tailor, you might as well go to a good one. I'm not going to pretend my body shape is any more unique than anyone else's 'cause we all have our little figure idiosyncrasies that make buying a perfect fit right at the store often difficult, but I do have trouble--I have a small, short waist and a sizable chest, but pretty narrow hips for the width of my shoulders. So the standard cuts--hourglass (those shapes that are cinched at the waist and then give more room in the hips and the bust), dropwaist, empire waist, shapeless--all leave something to be desired as far as the perfect fit.

Enter Andreas Gorges. He is so good. He tailored a beautiful coat for me that I had to buy two sizes too big because I couldn't find a good fit in the store but it was such a good deal on a beautiful piece. He did some major work on that--including taking off the sleeves so he could work on the shoulders, and then reattaching them--and it looks PERFECT. He tailored a beautiful dress that I was almost nervous to have anyone touch, and it fits me divinely.

Add to his skill that he's cheap and he's fast but not hasty. Perfect.

For your important tailoring jobs, bring 'em here. You'll be thrilled with the final product. You'll look like a grown-up--and a chic one at that.

Andy's been my tailor for the past couple years and he's fantastic.   I've had him alter suits, trousers, dress shirts, coats, jeans, even boardshorts, and every single time the result is exactly what I'd hope for.

Recently, I also began having him make custom dress shirts and I haven't bought a shirt "off the rack" since.   Not only are there a couple dozen specific measurements and details that you can select (collar, cuffs, stitch style, pocket - everything) but he also must have 500 swatches of very nice, high-thread count fabrics to choose from, in just about every style and color you can imagine.   The shirts do take awhile (6 weeks) but they're so worth the $120-$150 each, especially if you're used to buying a nice off the rack shirt and having it altered for about the same price.   I found that when I did that, there was often still something I didn't totally like.

Unless your preference and body type/dimensions are EXACTLY what you get in stores, this is the best way to go.   The shirts definitely seem to be better quality as well and hold up much better to daily white collar combat.

I definitely recommend Andy and have converted most everyone I know.   Go check him out!

    I admire Andy's skills, he's a pleasant man, but I don't like his business.

    - 3 times, Andy confirmed over the phone that my piece was ready, but when I came in (after driving through SF traffic and being gouged for parking), he told me to wait a while or return later so he could start/finish it.

    - He really doesn't give a darn doing tasks like hemming pants or taking in a dress (perhaps the reason for the above problem).  Give him a $200 suit alteration job or ask him to make you a custom shirt, and then you'll probably see some enthusiasm.

    - He tried to charge me $10 more than his quoted price, even though he didn't do anything extra.

So, for me, unless I'm looking at a nearly impossible alteration, I prefer another tailor who's more reliable and less indifferent.

Andy is nice and really knows what he is doing.  My girlfriend has been taking her things to him for years and he has worked miracles on many of her items.  Now I take all my alterations to Andy.

I just picked up an Italian sports jacket that had started to look a bit dated.  I brought it to Andy to see what could be done.    He took it apart, modernized it, and put it back together.  It looks great and now I'll get many more years of service out of it.

    Simply great work!

When i first moved to the bay area, i lost 20 pounds from stress and loneliness, and started a new job at 110 Sutter Street. After realizing that the job wasn't right for me, I started interviewing, but couldn't fit into the clothes I brought with me, and didn't have time to buy any and get them tailored to fit me in time.

    Enter Andy.

I went down the elevator, to the 2nd floor, and brought him the pants i was wearing for an interview i had in an hour.

he promised that he would have them done for me in just a short while, and i trekked back upstairs (without pants-just a long sweater), and came back in less than a half hour. my pants were ready, and i headed off to my interview.

i'm happy to say that i got that new job, and am forever grateful to andy for taking care of me at the last minute. unfortunately, i've now gotten adjusted to my new job and home, and gained that 20 pounds back. i will never wear those pants again, but won't forget what a lovely job he did when i needed him the most. highly recommended.

after being directed to him by some pretty prominent yelpers, I went to Andy, my vintage silk satin skirt clutched in hand. He was very nice and reasssured me he had worked on a lot of vintage clothing, and that some of his clients only wear vintage. I entrusted him to make the necessary repairs to my skirt without ruining it. We'll see how it goes. I'm confident I'll be happy.

UPDATE 1/26/06: I've been to Andy a couple of times now and I don't think I'll go anywhere else. My satin skirt came out fine. I also took some clothes I bought in Italy (jeans that had a bad zipper & a sweater that ripped), and I can wear them now! Hallelujah! Not only that, but he is such a sweet & funny man!

I tried Andy because of the good Yelp reviews and because of the proximity to my office.  I was not disappointed.  I've had three dresses and one shirt altered by him and everything was done exactly as I requested.  I had a maxi shortened to a below the knee length dress,  I had the sleeves taken off two dresses, and I had the straps shortened on a silk tank top.  He can pretty much do anything you like.  Also, all this was done for $135.  That's a pretty sweet price in my book.

TIP OF THE DAY: When using Andy I would call the day before he says your stuff is ready and check in with him.  I've called the day of and been told that my stuff would be ready the next day.  It wasn't a problem for me since I was just trying to salvage clothes from my closet instead of blowing more money shopping, but if you're in a hurry it could be frustrating.

I walked in asking for a service that should have taken minutes, they asked for a week.  I patiently waited...3 WEEKS then called to check on my item, then they asked for another day.  I complained, and they responded by having my item ready within an hour.  Two weeks beyond the original date for a tiny repair that takes minutes is just too long.

You get what you pay for, and while it might be a bit much, the quality of the work truly justifies the price. I would trust anyone else with my tailoring needs. My suits always fit exactly how I want when I leave this place, and they look like they came off the rack fitting like that. Be prepared to wait a good two weeks, and a simple phone call the day before your pick-up ensures there will be no wasted trips.

    I love this guy!

I brought a pair of True Religion jeans here, because i needed them hemmed and de-spiraled. I absolutley detest how True Religion does this, this and the bell bottom action.

He rocked!  Kept the original stitiching and made them fit like BUTTER!

I only trust this guy now for my $$$'er clothes. Had a Zegna suit altered and it came out BEAUTIFUL!  Exactly what I wanted.  Even picked out things i did not notice like odd bulging and such.

I would take cheap clothes anywhere, but when it comes to designer stuff, there really is only one chance, why chance your suit or dress somewhere else just to save $5.

I know he is super busy, and may not "need" the clientele.  But he deserves accolades!

Fantastic tailor...something that's increasingly difficult to find.  Andreas is the fourth tailor I've tried in this city and is by far the best; I think I've finally found my tailor!

I'd also disagree with the "pricey" tag that others have thrown around; I've paid less, but I've also paid more for lower-quality work.  Yes, Andreas may be a bit pricier than your typical laundromat tailor in Chinatown, but you have to expect to pay for what you get.  ...and $75 to hem a pair of slacks, and fix a Hickey Freeman suit (pants and jacket) that had been botched by the folks down at Nordstrom rack is entirely reasonable.

So I was convinced to give Andreas a second chance after my hair stylist (the lovely Melanie at Grasshopper, holla) told me that she gets all her jeans tailored by Andreas. She always has really cool jeans, so I figured I would dig out the 2 pairs that I had been procrastinating getting hemmed for oh, a year and counting and a slightly less ridiculous six months. The second pair were in need of some help--I had taken to folding them up so I could wear them with sneakers and had worn a nice creased hole in them that way.

Long story short, Andreas turned the job around in a week this time (vs. over 2 weeks last time) and was super friendly when I dropped off and picked up my stuff. I learned my lesson this time and called before coming to make sure the jeans would be ready. The two pairs were hemmed beautifully to my specifications of original hems for the first pair and normal hems for the second. I realized I had been suckered into the whole "all jeans must have original hems" for too long. If it doesn't have a really distinctive hem, just get regular hems and save yourself 5 bucks.

Andreas is fantastic -- I've been going to him for over a year for everything.  I started just having my shirts taken in, pants hemmed, jeans adjusted, etc.  But a month ago, I went all in and had him craft three shirts from scratch...  picking out the fabric, buttons, collar styles, *everything.*  He took what seemed like almost twenty measurements and even suggested that I could put the monogram on the inside of the shirt, out of view -- very classy.

I just picked them up and I am blown away by the craftsmanship his shop employs... every little detail is perfect, as is the fit.  These will last for years, I can already tell.  Five stars for Andreas and his team!  Oh, and he's open on Saturdays too -- big plus.

I've been going to Andy for about 2 years now.
I pretty much wear jeans (fancy denim) or suits.  . . one or the other, and sometimes half and half.
Andy has done numerous alterations on my suits, he has also advised me when things are simply beyond repair or not worth doing.  I can't say I have shopped around for tailors, because really it's not a price thing it's a craftsmanship/artistry thing.
Andy has also hemmed all of my jeans . . . and he really does a nice job.

    I appreciate the following:
He remembered who I was early on in our relationship
He is very agreeable when I have a rush job request ( I travel a bit )
He knows clothes and where to nip and tuck for the desired effect
He understands how a gentleman should look in a suit
He is very tactful when you are in need of some sartorial advice
The alterations/repairs have all been very good quality

I am going to be a customer for life.  I am looking forward to my first made to measure suit, which is coming soon.

I had a bridesmaid's dress tailored here in under two weeks.  It had to be taken in (boo...ya).  Not only was the finished dress technically perfect, but Andreas managed to take it from the slightest semblance of Ingrid Berman (in "Cactus Flower", not "Casablanca") to full on Rita Hayworth.  Plus he made some funny joke about wearing my cowboy boots with my bridesmaid dress and even gave me a plastic garment bag to transport the dress in.  Winner!

FYI, his office is in a sort of random building on the 2nd floor, next to some medical offices and such.  No stairs up (that I can find) but you can take the back entrance out, despite the warnings saying an alarm will go off if you do.  And that exit puts you right in front of Ambrosia Fro Yo... yum.

He does a nice job and his prices are reasonable. He is always pleasant as well. He has difficulty finishing things in the promised timeframe and sometimes requires second fittings to get things right.  I always call before going to make sure he's done.  If you really need your items back by the promised date, I would call two days ahead of that date to confirm that he will be done in time. I recommend against simply showing up on the promised date expecting your things to be ready. Nice guy, good service, but deadline challenged. Would recommend as good tailors are not easy to find.

Update: dropped off a couple of pairs of jeans and asked to keep the original hem (so they don't look like they were altered at the bottom).  Said it would be no problem. They did a horrible job of reattaching the original hem. Never had an issue with this anywhere else (including Nordstrom, who will do this for an extra fee).  If I wanted it to loop sloppy, I would have done it myself.  Highly disappointed. Trying others now.

Andy is a true gentleman and a deft tailor.  Based on reviews here, I had him alter a bridesmaid dress and he was incredibly kind and tailored the dress to fit to my specs. He's an easy going individual with a quiet kindness;  I'd recommend him to anyone needing tailoring in SF.  Bonus:  he also has Saturday hours! Call ahead though-the building is locked on Saturdays and he'll let you into the building.

Update:  I've gone to him for other tailoring needs-skirts, pants, shirts.  He's a genius!
