Andrea is great! He is very busy so if you're in a rush then he is not for you. Great guy, great workmanship!! I wish I had found him sooner!!! With my luck, he's going to retire next year! But a guy this nice, you want him to be happy! Selfishly, I want him to work forever!! But as long as you're open, Andrea, I will be coming to you!!!

3 check-insDon't get me wrong, Andreas is a very nice guy and appears to do high quality work. I had a bad experience with how long it took for a simple blazer to be altered. I came in on a Friday and he measured me and said it would be ready in 10 days. I came in 14 days later, and it wasn't ready. He gave me some excuse about some other customer having a rush order with a lot of items before he moves. He said to give him another week.
I come back in a week and guess what, not ready! He gives me the same story about how it stacked up he is and points to all of the clothing he has to tailor. He promises it would be ready in 3 days.
So 24 days after I give him my blazer, it is done. Oh and by the way, cash or check. No credit cards. He gets an extra star for the quality but man, I don't want to be waiting 24 days for a blazer to be done and have to make 3 trips back. -

From careful recommendations, I called up this little shop to schedule a fitting for the boy for his first big boy suits (tear tear). My first surprise, the Italian accent I heard on the phone from Andrea (I swear it sounded Italian but I may be wrong). Already, I was feeling fancy schmancy, like a scene out of the Soprano's...Italian mob bosses getting their suits tailored in an old world shop. Andrea was very sweet, he said he would be in 7:30am the next morning, but had to attend a funeral but will be at the shop until 5pm. I could tell he was very hard working.
The boy went to go get measured the next day--needed to get the sleeves of his jacket shortened and to hem his pants--little to medium break, no cuff :) Took it in Friday, picked it up this morning and fits perfectly, and everything was $65. I grew up with a father who's very picky about the fine detailings of his suits so trust me when I say, Andrea's work is impeccable. You can bring in an economic suit, and with his tailoring, it'll look like a $5000 Gucci suit.
Thank you, Andrea! The boy toy is now my vision of Mr. Christian Grey.

I thought it is about time I plugged Andreas Tailoring, especially since he's altered all of my business suits and slacks throughout the years. Andrea is one of the finest (and nicest) tailors in the Bay Area. His workmanship and passion for his work are impeccable, yet his prices are very reasonable. Andrea grew up and learned the trade in Italy so he is the real deal.

Its always tough trying to find a good tailor that fits your needs. I turned to Yelp after moving from DC and found Andrea. On ECR, his place is a small outfit, and inside you can tell how busy he is.
Super nice guy. Very nice. I took my slacks in to get them hemmed, and he commented that I could have gone one size down. But told him I sit and stand a lot. So it goes. I left him the pants and was promised a week later. I get back a week later and it wasn't ready, but in all fairness, he was very apologetic and seemed busy. He promised it the next day and got it me to perfectly done.
If I may offer a suggestion, Andrea should start accepting credit cards. Get a square reader or something. Probably be easier when it comes time for reporting and record keeping. I hate carrying cash.
Keep up the good work Andrea! I will be back... -

1 check-inAndrea is amazing. Super nice and very funny guy that has owned this shop for decades. Legendary almost. I had a few suits that didn't quite fit right since I bought them and now they're perfect! They say its really not about how much you spend on the suit, its how good your tailor is. Andrea can make any suit purchased off the rack look like a custom fitted one. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and will go back, if I ever feel compelled to buy a new suit. In the Bay Area this is probably unlikely, but it almost makes me want to find an excuse to wear suits more.

Listed in Shackling UpThe Bay Area's finest tailor for men's suits!
Andrea is a master of his craft, and his Old World shop is a testament to his experience and skill. My husband brought in the suit that he intended to wear for our wedding for advice on what to alter. After calling him a spaghetti (ha!), Andrea honestly gave us his recommendations. He then told us the absolutely lovely story of how he and his wife got married in Guatemala.
After a week, we came back to pick up the suit, and of course, it was impeccably slimmed and tailored. Andrea's prices are also very reasonable and like a previous reviewer said, I wouldn't mind paying a little more so that he and his wife could enjoy more time off! You'd be hard-pressed to find a sweeter, more honest, and capable tailor in the Bay Area, especially for menswear. -

I was laid off and had a short-notice interview set up. I found some pants, but needed them to be hemmed quickly. They turned the work around in a few hours and gave me a few $ discount, as I was out of work.
I'm working again, and I'm headed back to have several things in my new wardrobe tailored.
I love this little shop! Thank you!

Edit: I went back with several items and they were all very nicely done. This is the place to go. It takes a while, but good work always does. -

The Treatment-
A one-man shop, old world, professional who does a quality job and takes immense pride in his work.
He's undervalued and I wouldn't mind paying a bit more so at this stage in his life he and his wife can enjoy a day together so he doesn't have to work 7 days a week.
I want to take every child and Italian to him. He's a charmer, a hard-worker and a product of what happens when you are a dying breed of attention to detail. He's got clients that come from: Morgan Hill, San Rafael, Seattle, WA, because "of this now computer" -his quote.
Honestly, I'd pay more for quality tailoring after seeing his fine craftsmanship, his shop which is filled w/reminders of Sicily and memories abound. He showed me this bridesmaids' dress (hideous confection of 3 tulle layers-my editoral) and he says, "All these layers and I make-a no money on dis)
His bare bulb florescent light was flickering -I mentioned he should have it looked at. When I suggested he raise his prices, "Nah, I don't want to make enemies."
The economic climate has made it so a man who's traveled a world away to make a better life for himself, worked an honest living, and does unparalleled work has to work w/less than ideal light and 6-7 days a week?! I think not, people we can do better. I think Andreas should be able to pick and choose his jobs, and for this I'd be willing to pay a premium.
He's a throwback in the best sense of the word. I kind half expected the cast from Fellini's 8 1/2 to come out and to be served Osso buco. He charmed me and I'd like to give back. -

Go in to get your suit taken in and come out with a friend.
Andrea represents the cornerstone of a neighborhood. In his modest yet interesting shop (I swear I notice something difference each visit), you will find a genuine personality and a man with a genuine knack for the sewing machine. I am sure being Italian doesn't hurt the latter. I mention his Italian-ness because its a big part of his shop and who he is. A loyal and hardworking man. He is so kind to all customers, new and old, old and young, and rarely says no to anything or anyone. Don't take advantage!
Above and beyond Andrea being an awesome man, he does wonder with your clothes. I have had suits, shirts, jeans, and pants taken to him. It is a true wardrobe upgrade.
Enjoy this local guy as much as you can, these gems are rare!

After reading all the good reviews on here, I decided to come here to have him fix a small tear on the right arm of one of the jackets I own. A few days later I went over there to pick up the jacket. When I saw the jacket I just lost for what to say, and I couldn't believe myself looking at what he did to my over $200 jacket. All he basically did was patch up a little tear with a little cheap piece of cloth and horrible sewing technique. Also the patch wasn't even in the right size. I originally told him to sew it up and not to patch up to cover the tear, but he still did it anyway. Later when I went back to my office I started touching touching/feeling the area where he put the patch on because the size of the patch was exactly 2 ichies big. I noticeded he actually cut the entire area where the small tear was. Basically the small tear became a huge hole!!! I was hopeing to wear this jacket during my trip next week, but he ruined the jacket and now I don't know what to do. I'm sure he did good jobs meeting other customers' needs, but he did entirely the opposite for me. I kind of knew from the beginning something bad was going to happen because when I talked to him the first time at the store to drop off my jacket, he wasn't sure (confident) how he was going to fix. I mean, if he didn't know what to do then refuse the service (I gave him exact instruction with what material to use)! I thought because he is not from the US, that's just his parsonality. I should have taken the jacket without paying, but I felt bad doing so (it's just my nature of not being rude) so I paid $10 which I was charged for. I am trying to bring this jacket to this lady on Oceans Ave where I've been bringing all my clothes/jeans/jackets for the last 4 years because she truly does amazing work and in fact she has worked on similiar damage on one of my other Jackets and did amazing job (basically she made the tear disappear). So hopefully she will do the magic on this one. I will never come to his place, but if you happen to go there for any repair, just be careful and make sure you communicate with him clearly to see if he can meet your needs. I don't know how to attach a pic here with my review so please refer to photo section for the pic for detail.

After making the mistake to go to a local so-called tailor in Carson City, NV, I trekked my way back to the Bay Area to avail myself of Andrea's splendid services. Since I was only there for a weekend, he agreed to drop everything and tailor my jacket. And did he ever. Beautiful work, quickly done at a reasonable price, and Andrea could not have been nicer. Good man, good work, and well worth a visit if you need ANYTHING tailored to perfection.

He does fantastic work and his charges are extremely reasonable. I had a suit tailored that was 'butchered' by a dry-clean alteration, and he pulled it out of the fire.
Give him a chance and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Thank you, Andrea. Read more -

This place is amazing! I needed a dress shortened in the hem and straps for a wedding. This bridesmaids dress had tons of fabric and I came in a few days before I needed it. Andrea is so helpful and welcoming. I called him on a Monday at 8 am. He is usually closed on Monday's but he answered the phone since he is usually working to keep up with his orders. I explained my situation and he told m to bring the dress in on my lunch break. I brought it in and forgot my shoes but he tried to guess what length to take off. He did tell me to come back by Wednesday with the shoes to be safe and I did. His guess was pretty close! Anyway, the dress was ready by Thursday and it fit like a glove. It was perfect.
The price was extremely reasonable, considering the turn around time and the massive hem of the dress. He also said to stop by and say hi if I'm in the area even if I don't have anything to drop off. I will to show him the wedding party and how much of a lovely job he did. If you're in need of a quick turn around time and want friendly and accommodating service for a great price then see Andrea. He does all clothing and I'm sure will work for you! -

You are met with a sweet, kind hearted, honest little Italian man. He did a nice job on a few yoga pants needed to be hemmed because I'm short. I explained what I needed to have done and he said, "no need to worry" followed by a European kiss. Adorable:). He was right, they were tailored perfectly.

I've NO IDEA what Ki J is saying because Andrea's is easily one of the best tailors I've met.
Look, if you were to read a review this is the one to read. Why? I know quality and style when it comes to the art of tailoring aka sartorial. Not to sound pompous or anything but just being honest.
Used to live in LA and there are ... some decent tailors but still haven't found THAT one. Moved up here and there are some very good tailors in the Bay Area (SF). But guess what? You will pay an arm and a leg for a suit to fit you as if it was bespoke or MTM (made to measure). Went to one in SF (top 3 rated tailor) and he wanted to charge me $450 for a Isaia suit and $500 for a Brioni. Given the retail on these suits, those dollar amounts .... could be justified.
But I didn't or couldn't. Andrea's is verryy reasonably priced. TRUST ME on this. People who complain about pricing then need to go to a dry cleaner. IF you want quality then pay for it! I literally LOL'd when people said he was pricey.
Andrea's is very knowledgeable, personable, funny, and can talk your ear off....literally. He has a warm spirit and is somewhat of a perfectionist.
Looking forward to getting my stuff next week!
Btw, he is swamped so if you need something very quick then this is not the place. Then again, you can't have someone who is reputable and produces quality service to get your item done quickly...the math doesn't make sense -

Andrea is pretty amazing. No kidding. I don't go to tailors but had to get someone to tailor my suit. He was super friendly and nice. Since I reading the reviews, I knew he would be late. I made a date we both agreed on to pick up my suit and came one day before to check up on Andrea. He didn't start but promised that he would start. I came on the agreed date and he was working on it but said tomorrow. Finally got it on the date after.
Morale of the story is come a day before what you want done and Andrea will get it done the day after its promised. Great guy but a little on the high side. You do pay for what you get though! -

Andrea is a very honest, kind man. I came in with a suit that needed many alterations, a few dress shirts that needed to be taken in, and a pair of jeans that needed hemming.
All of this was done at a very modest price and the turnaround time was about a week since I told him I was in no rush.
The quality of Andrea's work is top notch.
I am definitely going to be a returning customer.
