Andiamo would be a solid 3 star restaurant but the salsa deserves an extra star. I'm a huge fan of cilantro and their salsa contains the perfect amount.
Chimichanga's, Taco's, Enchalada's are all good. I usually stick with the Mexican side but I have some friends that really like their pizza's too. -

Review based only on food delivered to work, haven't tried it at the restaurant. It's an Italian and Mexican place. Think the parents are from Nicaragua though, so maybe I'll ask if they can make nacatamales for just me!
Pretty good enchilada plate where I got 1 chicken and 1 pork enchilada w/ rice and beans. $8.99, but with tip and tax came out to $11 out my pocket.
Was warm when I got to eat it.
They delivered 12 peoples lunches about 10-15 minutes late, but everyone was happy with their food. We got chips and 1 large container of their spicy salsa.
Their chicken cesar salad looked good, so did another co-worker's almond salad. Maybe I'll try the salad next time, because I was full after eating my dish. -

All the Yelp reviews said I'd be a fool to get the Italian food at Andiamo so I only considered the Mexican half of the menu. I ordered the $8.99 chicken tacos that come with rice and beans (I substituted pinto for refried). Everything was only okay (a word I will use multiple times in this review). I walked out of there spending $12 on lunch, and I could have had the same thing but better at Una Mas or a bunch of authentic taquerias for half the price.
The chips were good and thick. The salsa was just okay. Service was just okay. I had to ask for the check and water. (I was in the corner but there were only 2 other tables of people.)
There's a lunch buffet for $12 (I think) but it wasn't in operation when I came by around 1:30.
I really want to find a good place to eat in Alviso since I love Alviso so much. However, I keep rolling snake eyes.
Food was 2 1/2 stars - 1 star for the price = 2 stars (because I'm nice). -

A friend and I were having a mad taco craving so we headed for the De Oro taco truck behind that Alviso (elementary school I think) baseball field. BTW...de Oro are the best tacos in the world!!! The roach coach is the only reason to venture out there unless you are going to Pin High Golf.
ANYWAY...of course we didn't have cash and it was too hot today to putz around for an ATM so we settled for sit down meal at Andiamo's.
We were very disappointed with the Chips and Salsa. Our chips were ok but the Salsa was nasty and tasted like rotting tomatoes..not good..we sent it back...got another and it tasted the same so we threw our hands up on the salsa.
Next we ordered 3 tacos ala carte and again...blah..no flavor on the carne asada. The grilled chicken on the taco salad we ordered was yum so I think next time I'm going to go for the chicken dishes and maybe some Italian food.
Servers were super nice..but very very slow. 3 tacos and a salad took about 20 minutes..no joke!
I probably won't go out of my way to eat their again...but I think I'll give it another try if the opportunity presents itself. -

Andiamo is in Alviso - the little old town between 237 and the bay (don't let the San Jose address fool you). I have no idea where this 5220 North 1st thing is.
[edit - the address is likely right, but the map is most definitely wrong. Head north on Agnew under 237, make your first right after the post office in Alviso. Oh wait... the map looks right when I change the city name to Alviso.]
It offers itself up as Mexican/Italian but I tend to ignore the Italian side of the menu as after a few pasta and pizza plates, have found it to be pretty ordinary. The Mexican side though... excellent and the best around the 237-880-101 triangle. Mexicali, Maria Elena, El Torito, Haha Fresh? Distant 2nd place, all of 'em.
While it's always packed for lunch, we've never waited for a seat. Dinner it's empty as the location is really out of the way and pretty cool if you want a quiet neighbourhood and restaurant to eat in. I hit lunch at least once a week and take-out at least once on the weekends. Two stuffed chicken soft tacos, a bag of chips and fresh salsa you can drown in - a la carte for $5.95.
Overall, great (Mexican) food, really friendly staff, great prices. -

Food: Mexican Food
Setting: Perfect for the sit down lunch crowd, birthdays, and gatherings.
Best Dishes: Aloha Filet (mahi-mahi), Seafood Linguine, combinations.
Highlights: Unlimited chips and salsa, facility is designed around the old Mexico design, and always busy.
Wallet: $20.00 per person for lunch. -

Andiamo is one of my favorite places to do to lunch. The food is good, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is inviting. It an oasis in an otherwise strange town.
The menu is a combination of Italian and Mexican. There are very few fusion items on the menu. It is a good place to take a group of people because there is something for everyone. -

Andiamo has excellent food and a lovely restaurant. There are plenty of chips and salsa to keep you going while you wait (and you will wait). We used to go there all the time for lunch until the last experience. I have to tell you I served food for 7 years and there are cockroaches in EVERY restaurant, but when one hitched a ride on a coworker's pantleg from the dining room, we opted not to go back again. They need to step up the roach patrol. We were all pretty freaked out and this wasn't the first bug; a previous trip found a green salad muncher. Look carefully before you bite!!

What can I say. This place is in a very odd spot but is recommended by a good friend. Mexican and italian in one place, you can't lose. The night we went it wasn't as crowded as what I hear during the lunch rush but man this place is great. I had the chicken enchiladas here. I loved it. I have yet to try their italian dishes but from what I hear, it's not disappointing. Prices are pretty reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Lowered car friendly too!

Andiamo's is no longer in business. It has been replaced by El Taco de Oro Taqueria.

A group of us went there for lunch on a weekday and it was packed, which we thought this must be a good place; we were wrong. The food was mediocre: I got the lunch buffet because I didn't want to put all of my chips in one basket. My food wasn't bad, but the service was terrible, amongst the worst I've ever had, and we're usually pretty patient. It took us five minutes to get seated even though there were plenty of open tables, and there seemed to be an adequate staff to handle the lunch crowd. It seemed that the staff were just inefficient, or just inexperienced because they looked like chickens with their heads cut off: lots of running around but not much was getting done.
Everybody else at the table ordered a Mexican dish and they all had the same blah reaction to the food. So we haven't been back in several months, and we're not planning to anytime soon. I'd rather go to the Taco Truck next door, or Maria Elena's. -

I love andiamos. I go just about every week to about twice a week. The staff knows who I am and knows exactly how I want my plates and what I want to drink. I would stick to the Mexican food, I have found that side to be delicious, i love the chicken enchiladas, lomo saltado, roasted almond chicken salad, and guacamole. I love their chips and salsa although the salsa has mysteriously gotten way spicier...but other than that its a great place to eat

Andiamo's is easy to find if you are on highway 237, take North First Street exit north into Alviso. Andiamo's is on the corner of the first stop sign you come to. I like this place, for both Mexican and Italian, at great prices. I often get the seafood linquine when feeling like Italian, and crispy carnitas if I'm in a Mexican mood. The service is friendly and while the lunch hour is crowded, evenings are lighter for a sunset dinner. Wines are tastey and inexpensive as well, as there is no corkage. 4 stars and only $ - $$.

I love their fish tacos. You gotta be patient though, cuz service can be slow.
