Visiting Andersons is like getting lost in a dream of blossoming flowers. While walking through the grounds, you'll feel as though you are truly in a secret garden surrounded by harmonious water flowing through decorative fountains that are placed about. In the very back is a doll house big enough for children to venture in.
They focus on California succulents and other flowering beauties meant for this dry climate. All of the fountains are for sale as well and they have some exquisite ones.
The service is always friendly with expert advice. The owners work on the premises and take pride in their babies.
We have purchased many plants here over the years. The people are so nice and pleasant. We especially love Marsha. She is so knowledgable and just a darling person. She even gives us a call when something comes in she thinks we may like. Lovely to walk around and get ideas. Healthy plants. Some things are priced reasonably others a bit high.
One of the best nurseries in Southern California. While expensive, they carry great items that are not available elsewhere.
Wow - I wish wish wish my yard looked like this place. I even considered just bringing home pots of plants till I killed them, then I could just replace them with more lushness without ever digging a hole. (How dare I write that on earth day...hahahah)
This place just goes on and on - with sections of beautifully arranged plants - categorized by their environments; dry & drought resistant, shady and tropical, flowering & pretty, high maintenance orchids (beware my black thumb), and so much more. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. (even the guys that seem way too young to know the genies and species of each plant.) Prices seemed reasonable.
I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could.
Actually I'd have given it more until an experience I had a few months ago where I was smitten by a gorgeous yellow protea and quickly plopped down $40 for it (I know, but it "spoke" to me!). On my next nursery stop not far down the street, they had the same size protea, same lovely condition, for $15 less (not Home Depot btw, but at another same-size establishment)!!! Stupid me.
So, I cant help but be a little bitter about that.
However, they have a wonderful selection of plants and their houseplant selection is really good. And, the people who work there are always more than nice. This is a great place to pick up a Mom's day gift or a token of appreciation for any plant person in your life.
My only suggestion is do a little comparison shopping before you buy!
an inspirational place to visit when planning out your yard or garden. they have every possible landscape, from desert, tropical, vegetable garden, water plants, and everything in between. plus they have a fantastic selection of pots, ornaments, and fountains. we recently went here to purchase vegetable plants for our garden. the staff was friendly and helped us pick out the right am amending soil. we were pleased by the variety of different vegetables they had, and that all of the plants looks very healthy. they allow dogs here, and the sweet lady working at the time gave the dog a few milkbones and was very friendly. this place beats the home depot any day.
