Great location.  Clean, comfortable, well appointed rooms directly above the best seafood restaurant in Morro Bay  Owned and operated by Mollie and Jeff Anderson, both of whom make you feel as if you are part of the family. After our first visit, when we requested milk instead of cream for our coffee, the milk is now in the refrigerator when we arrive.

We drive from the Bay Area to Los Angeles about every six weeks, an easy one day drive, but we always make it a two or three day trip, and the Anderson Inn is one of the reasons.

    Thanks Mollie and Jeff

EVERYTHING was perfect. What a wonderful inn, we can't wait to get back to Morro Bay and spend another few nights at Anderson Inn.

The family that runs this establishment is delightful. Thank you!

My partner and I forgot to plan an official babymoon in our second trimester, and decided to tack on a mini getaway at the beginning and end of our last road trip to see his family. We looked on the map for a half way point between San Francisco and Orange County, and Morro Bay looked like the perfect place to stop. After researching places to stay on Yelp, we decided we had to stay at the Anderson Inn.

It couldn't have been more perfect.

We arrived in Morro Bay an hour later than we intended and met Mollie Anderson who quickly checked us in so that we could enjoy the last few minutes of a beautiful sunset (see picture). Mollie couldn't have been more warm or hospitable.

Our room was 201 which was the north corner room, overlooking the water and Morro Rock. Even though it was mating season for the elephant seals, that didn't stop us from sleeping with the windows open so we could get the nice, cold bay breeze coming in.

Loved the chromatherapy jacuzzi tub and the extra large shower with the 2 body sprays. The wall fireplace warmed the room up quickly and we enjoyed the two comfy chairs facing the balcony and the water ... perfect for early morning reading.

We only spent one night there but will most definitely be returning ... next time with the little one in tow. :)

If looking for a place to stay in Morro Bay, this is it!

The rooms are cozy and the Anderson family is wonderfu!

After reading several reviews on hotels in Morro Bay and on the Anderson Inn, I knew the Anderson Inn was the place to stay. I reserved two rooms, one for my husband and I and the other for my parents for a visit to Morro Bay in August and it was wonderful!

The rooms were spacious, clean and cozy. Both rooms included a patio with patio furniture and they sat over the parking lot however they still had a view of the bay.

Thank You Anderson Family for a wonderful stay!

Stayed at the Anderson Inn this past weekend and I give it 5 stars.  Molly was very friendly and made sure during our stay that we were happy and comfortable with our room. She gave recommendations for places to eat and visit, which were all fantastic.  The premium room we stayed in was beautiful and the view of the harbor and the rock was breathtaking.  Loved the whirlpool tub and the shower with the three shower heads.  Both nights we just sat in the sitting chairs and opened up the patio door so that we could hear the seals, and later in the evening the music from the restaurant next door.  Can't wait to go back again.

My husband booked this place for my birthday. We were dining at the next door The Galley restaurant, so he thought it would be nice to stay here at Anderson Inn, right on the bay.

Let me tell you, this place totally made my birthday extra special. Molly greeted us with a big smile, and she was very friendly and personable. We could not get the 3 front rooms that window is facing the water front, but still had a great view of the Morro Bay and Morro Rock from our balcony. The room was very clean and plush, and decoration was very nice and comfortable. We really liked the binoculars in the room!

We've stayed at other hotels and motels in Morro Bay before, but once we experience Anderson Inn, we probably won't be able to go back to any other place. This place really had a personality, cozy and comfortable. You'll wake up next morning well rested and with the beautiful view of Morro Bay.

First and foremost, I have to say that anyone would be very hard pressed to find people nicer than the Anderson's.  They are just incredible.

We stayed 2 nights to celebrate our very low key wedding and it couldn't have been more perfect.  We stayed in a deluxe room and loved it.  However, we took a quick tour of a premiere room for future reference and the "over the water" balcony is pretty amazing.  Our room was relaxing and nicely decorated, the bed was incredibly comfortable with lots of pillows, and the location and view couldn't have been better.

I've been to Morro Bay 1 time and have no desire to see what any other accommodations are like in the area.  Perfection was found on the first shot!

It was a sad day leaving the Anderson Inn and I can't wait to go back!

Just like everyone else, I was impressed not only by how lovely the accommodations were, but by the family who manages the inn. They were genuinely friendly and warm, making sure we had everything we needed.

The inn is right on the water, giving you a delightful view of Morro Bay. The Galley restaurant is right next to the inn and was a wonderful place to have a romantic dinner. We only stayed one night but would happily return here in the future.

This is the premium place to stay in Morro Bay. It's right in the middle of the Embarcadero (the main vein) with fabulous views and just a very short walk to all things Morro Bay.

My husband had a particularly rough week at work so he surprised me with a scenic drive along CA HWY 1. I love CA 1, even though it is incredibly dangerous. It can be very relaxing if you take it slow and enjoy it. Much of the highway was in a blanket of thick fog. So, before we knew it, we were in San Simeon just as the sun was setting. We decided to stay in Morro Bay since it is familiar.

We wanted a room where Zoey would be free to scoot around on a clean carpet, and definitely with a view. With our last experience in San Jose, we didn't want to take a chance with the big hotels and Inns. My girl needs to move. We figured that we'd spend more $ on the room and less on food and shopping. This sacrifice was WORTH IT.

On our coastal trip in May, we walked by the Anderson Inn and my husband exclaimed, "Now THAT'S where we need to stay!" Since that's a very odd reaction for him to have about any sort of lodging, I took note. I called and the the owner, or co-owner, Mollie answered. I told her about the situation, how we were in the middle of nowhere on 1 and needed lodging.

Mollie and Jeff were absolutely fantastic about every single little aspect of our trip. They couldn't accommodate us Friday and Saturday, which we expected, and the rates were expensive ($$$ not $$), but we needed a little luxury so we splurged. Not to mention, Mollie was so insistent and confident about taking care of us that my husband and I just let her.

That short drive from San Simeon to Morro Bay was one of our happiest yet. We were so excited to have such a nice room.

The room exceeded our expectations. The sheets were so soft, the bed was so comfortable, and it was clean enough that I didn't feel weird letting Zoey scoot herself around on the floor. Another awesome aspect was Zoey's excitement to scoot around on the floor. She'd scamper to one side, hear a seal and quickly scamper over to the (locked) sliding door to examine him. She kept herself very busy, which was great for me. This is very child/baby-friendly lodging.

Then, Jeff and Mollie moved us to the over-the-water room. Dan and I were in heaven here. This might have been the nicest room I've ever stayed in, aside from various "comped" rooms in Vegas which don't count.

Also, I have to mention that the maid service was top notch. I'd make little hidden smudges because I just couldn't believe they were cleaning the rooms as well as they were. I'd come back and the smudge was gone. Wow. That makes a mother feel good.

The view in the waterfront rooms cannot be beat. People would ride by in boats and kayaks and yell at us "How's THAT room?" That was hilarious. Those kayakers must have been staying at the Motel 6 or something. Not wanting to make them feel bad, I shouted back, "It's my birthday!" It wasn't my birthday, but it felt like it!

I also loved the tub with the lights! WOW! The lights made the water different colors. My Zoey just loved that.

In fact, it was so great that we came back after we had to book somewhere else on Friday and Saturday. Jeff and Mollie were just as accommodating when we came back.

I almost don't want to tell you all how great this place is, because with only 8 rooms, I'll never get to stay here again! But since I love my friends, I'll let you in on this secret. This is where you want to be if you're in Morro Bay with your small family. Period. If you book, tell them Zoey sent you. You won't regret the $$$. S.W.A.K.

The Anderson Inn is a great little inn on the waterfront in Morro Bay.  We were greeted by Mollie, one of the owners, when we checked in, and she gave us a tour of the room as well as recommending a place for dinner, breakfast, and a kayak rental shop.

There are 2 (or maybe 3?) rooms that look out directly over the waterfront.  We opted for a slightly less expensive room with a small patio and a view of the rock.  The rooms are gorgeous - very tastefully decorated, with high quality furnishings.  The bathroom was also beautiful, and had a multi-headed shower.  Nice!

The only downside to staying here, as we found out last night, is the restaurant next door with the 80s cover band (not sure if this is a regular thing or just our lucky night).  We could hear the music pretty well, but the show ended around 10 or 10:30, so we didn't lose any sleep over it.

Overall, a beautiful little inn with great rooms and extremely friendly service.  We'll be back again next year!

The Anderson Inn is my new favorite getaway.     The  "over  the water" rooms are absolutely perfect.      You can't beat the view of Morro Rock,  the boats coming and going,  and watching the sea lions swim around.    I loved just sitting on the balcony and taking it all  in.     It is a cozy and  tastefully decorated  room,   I  enjoyed  lounging around  and enjoying the beautiful view.

The Anderson's are so welcoming and helpful,  ready to make your stay as perfect as possible.      They  make you feel very special,   and we really appreciated their  attention to detail and their friendliness.

My husband and I came to Morro Bay for the weekend and I left it up to my husband to find a hotel (silly me!). We rolled into town about 2pm on a Friday.  He had reserved a room at the Bay View Inn.  The place was such a dump that we took our losses, paid for one night and set off to find a nicer place.
While browsing Yelp I came across the Anderson Inn.  I called and Mollie answered and informed me that they happened to have a cancellation and had a room available for the weekend and that they would give us a discounted rate!  It was our lucky day.
We showed up a few minutes later and Roger, one of the brothers, was at the front desk to greet us.  He checked us in, told us all about the place and even gave us a tour of the ocean view room (which we have booked for our anniversary in June).  Roger personally brought us to our room, showed us how everything worked and even brought me some fresh cream for my coffee in the morning.
The room was amazing and the family who owns the inn was even better.  We will definitely be coming back!
Oh and don't miss having a fabulous dinner at The Galley Seafood Grill downstairs.  It is also owned by the family and was the best meal we have had in a long time.
Amazing weekend thanks to the Andersons!

Everything you read in the reviews for the Anderson Inn are true, it is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.  It is right on the water in Morro Bay and all the rooms have a view of the rock and the harbor.  When we got there we were greeted by the owner and she was beyond friendly.  The customer service was the best I have ever experienced.  We were taken to our room and given a tour and shown how to operate everything.  I don't know about you, but I have never stayed at a hotel that does that.  The owners were so genuine and really seemed to care about their customers happiness and they really seemed to love what they did.
The room itself was clean, beautiful, and very comfortable.  We could sit out on our balcony and watch the otters float buy and listen to the seals bark.  It was truly paradise!  This hotel is definitely more expensive than other hotels in the area, but if you are looking for a special experience I would highly recommend you stay here.  Their attention to detail WAY exceeded our expectations!!

It took a great place and experience for me to write my first official review.  Anderson Inn was a bright spot in a weather-challenged vacation down the CA coast to Santa Barbara.

I will not mention the complete waste of money that Cambria offered, unsavory meal, overpriced room, etc.  Believe me ... if you are going to Hearst Castle and plan to spend the night, do yourself a favor, bypass Cambria and go 20 minutes up the road to Morro Bay.  Not only is the view much better, but the shopping, dining & recreation proved a vacation-saver.

Anderson Inn was rated well in Trip Advisor so we took a shot.  I will spare everyone the cheesy verbiage on how pleasantly surprised we were, but we were.  Bright, sunny, CLEAN, roomy, HDTV, modern Italian-style bathroom and shower, mattresses that you sink in, HDTV, and best of all, the most pleasant and helpful staff (family) you will ever encounter.

If you do stay, do two things if nothing else :

    1)  Kayak in the bay!  Beautiful view of the rock (pictures below) and you can get very close to the seals.  Be warned, they stink!  Not like underarm or stinky feet, but Oh-My-God there goes my appetite bad.

    2)  Dine at their restaurant.  Top-notch and strong strong drinks.  Surf and Turf ruled!

Make yourself happy, save the California economy and make the Anderson's rich.

    Ciao!

As international travelers with very high standards for service and quality of accommodation it is absolutely a joy to have a place such as the Anderson Inn so close to home. The Anderson family are some of the most gracious and accommodating folks you are ever going to meet and they set the bar very high for both hotel and food service. When coupled with the premier location on Morro Bay this Inn is a can't miss for any trip on the California Central Coast.

My only complaint is that they do not allow pets, and are completely non-smoking which means I have to walk outside and we cannot bring our Newfoundland. Even with those things considered ;-) the Anderson Inn is the model of service and quality for the California Central Coast vacation traveller who is looking to experience world class accommodations in the "laid back" locale of Morro Bay.

Be advised to book ahead for the best over the water rooms and make reservations at "The Galley" which is the closest thing to big city fine dining you will find in the coastal hamlet that is Morro Bay!

My wife and I love this place and the escape that it provides from the hustle and bustle of big city life. The Anderson's are a staple in the Central Coast scene and can provide the most up to date information about everything Central Coast. FIve Stars is not enough!

Our stay began about two months ago when I took a chance with a new place much to my parent in laws chagrin.  They were worried it was going to be a dump and they could blame it on me.  The owners, Jeff and Mollie Anderson were extremely pleasant and even asked me to contact them with our arrival eta so they could prep the room.  This included fluffing the bed and stocking ice in the ice bucket for the wine we were bringing.
When we arrived they were extremely courteous and took us on a short tour of our room.  Provided were microfiber bath robes and plenty of soft warm towels.  Every room has just been completely remodeled and is very contemporary.  You walk in the front door to the 5" baseboards and modern rounded drywall.  The soft blue in our room and the soft yellow(sand) colors were very pleasing to the eye.  A very large(even for two) stand-up shower with new, recessed shower heads and great water pressure was a nice way to clean-up after our 3 hour drive.  Much to my surprise was the softened water system.  If you've never had a soft water system, it is luxurious.  Once I got out of the shower and started looking around the room I saw all the little things they really paid attention too.  The brand new LCD with a cantilever wall mount.  The fridge hidden in the dresser.  The IRoom ipod docking station/alarm/clock/radio.  The safe, albeit nearly pointless in such a small town with trustworthy owners.  The bed is the most comfortable bed you've ever enjoyed at a hotel.  Big fluffy down pillows and a soft warm duvet add to the mix.  A queen sized bed that although it's queen-size, didn't allow for my fiance and I to butt heads.
When we woke up in the morning, I opened up the french doors to the balcony with a small table and chair for coffee.  we had a side view which was not a direct bay view but part of the town, part of the bay.  Although Mollie downplays this room a little bit, it's still an amazing view.  There's a desk for a computer, secured wireless internet access, and a comfy sitting chair w/ a glass end table.   The Granite topped bathroom vanity was a nice touch as well.  We had plenty of space for all our luggage both with the dresser, two nightstands, and large closet.  The only thing that was bothersome was that the front door slammed close very loudly on its own.  Just don't slam the door and you're fine.  You don't hear the neighbors when it happens so it's not that much of a hassle to begin with.  Just a fore-warning to those of you that might be super picky.
There are a total of 8 rooms, 3 of which are 'on the bay,' and 5 of which are in a straight line in this cute, little, modern, and boutique hotel.  Rooms 204-208 are all what I just described with 208 having an extra balcony and 204 being an access room(better access for handicap w/ a shower curtain instead of a glass door, the sink in the entry hallway vs. in the bathroom, and a doorbell)  We stayed in 204 and my In-Laws in 208.  Next year we will stay in 201 and 203 with a complete view of the bay(The closest to the bay you can possibly be) an included fireplace, whirlpool style tub, and stand-alone stand-up shower.  We only paid $209/night for our Wine Festival weekend rooms and look forward to staying here next year.  In fact, I already reserved the rooms so there's no question where we'll be staying.

My dad and I stayed at Anderson Inn a few weeks ago and it was a highlight of our 10 state trip.  First, Mollie Anderson bent over backwards to make sure we were comfortable.  When she found out I liked tea, she immediately rushed to find tea bags so that I could brew tea instead of coffee in the morning.  She made us reservations at the Galley (excellent food- just below the Inn) and gave us plenty of information about the Bay to help fill our time there.  We also met her father who is a dear man as well.
The rooms are very nicely appointed- flat screen tv, plush beds, hair dryer and vanity mirror in the bathroom... as my father (who is incredibly critical of hotels) said, "They really did a top notch job building this place.  Just look at the wood work."
Mollie, thanks for a memorable stay and making our last night of our dad-daughter roadtrip so wonderful.

My wife and I wanted to spend our 1st wedding anniversary somewhere special, so we chose the highly recommended "Anderson Inn." I'm boarder line speechless when I try to describe our experience. As soon as we got here we were greeted by Mollie, one of the three Anderson owners. Within three minutes all the stress went away and my wife and I truly felt at home. Molly proceeded to ask us questions so she could better connect with us. We were then shown our room which was not one of the three rooms that are directly over the water, however we were very impressed with the view from our bed and balcony. What we were not expecting was a big bouquet of roses and an ice cold bottle of campaign. Days previous my mom called the Inn and arranged them to put together a little surprise for us. After talking to my mom she said that she had the privilege of speaking with Roger, Mollies brother, who made all the small details happen. We spent a lot of time on our balcony drinking complementary coffee and taking in the sights of the bay, stacks, rock, embarcadero, and blue sky. We later asked Mollie if she could make us a reservation at the restaurant below the inn, "The Galley." I'm trying not to sound too excited when I talk about the food but it was delicious not to mention the service that Jeff Anderson gave us was excellent. I started with a fresh clam chowder and my bride tried the spinach salad, both were so good. For dinner I kept it real and ordered a sirloin burger and my wife ate a vegetarian pasta that was to die for, so I highly recommend the restaurant. Oh yeah, on the menu under the appetizer section there was an appetizer that was a tribute to my wife and I. It was a very special dinner and couple days we spent at the Anderson Inn. We will be back as soon as possible and pray that the Anderson Inn will be around for many more generations.

I chose the Anderson Inn in large part due to the reviews i read on Yelp, and they did not disappoint! We were traveling with 2 kids aged 15 and 10 (I point this out to illustrate that it is extremely family friendly) and used this as our stop driving North from LA to San Fran. Molly,Jeff and Roger were genuinely helpful and so gracious. The dinner at the Galley was incredible, and don't leave without stopping for breakfast at Frankie and Lola's. In the midst of a host of 'fakes' out there, these guys are the real deal, and you can tell really enjoy sharing their beautiful property with others...

I recently had a wonderful weekend with dear friends at The Anderson Inn.  The Inn is so warm and welcoming and the location is superb!  I could watch seabirds and sailboats from the window of my cozy and well appointed room.  There are so many restaurants nearby, one of the best of which is the Galley, right under the Anderson Inn.  And the elephant seals a short way up the coast were astounding.  The warmth and hospitality of this small inn make it an ideal gathering place for friends or a romantic getaway.  I can't wait to go back!

I've never written a review before but this place is so great, I felt I had to write this one.  The owners are Mollie and Jeff and they are brother and sister.  This place is on a piece of property that has been in their family for over 40 years but was just rebuilt only about one year ago.  The rooms are very well appointed (e.g., wonderful beds, mini-fireplace, flat screen TV, jacuzzi tub, etc.).  I believe there are three waterfront rooms and each of these have balconies that practically hang over the bay and have a picture frame-like view of the Morro Rock.  The owners treat you like family.  I can honestly say I've never received such warm and friendly service at a hotel or B&B.  There's a restaurant downstairs (The Galley) where we didn't eat but had a drink (we were attending a group dinner at another restaurant in town) and chatted with the restaurant manager.  Evidently he worked in the restaurant in the 60s/70s as a kid and has returned to Morro Bay from a career in Silicon Valley and LA to "live a simpler life."  A truly charming establishment.  We are planning a return trip soon.
