Best pan de sal in town! Andells is a local favorite. Hard to find a quality Filipino bakery north of the 52. Love the tasty loaf.

Today was my first visit at this famous bakery I've heard so much about in Yelp. Smaller than what I expected. I got there at 11:30am and could not believe there was hardly anything left on their shelves on a Friday except a few bags of pandesal and kankanis. Thank goodness, there were two bags left of ube bread- the reason why I drove all this way for! ...I've been craving for this sweet bread but unfortunately I live in north county so driving all this way and not finding what I want would have been a real disappointer.
It was definitely worth the drive!! The ube bread looked so good that I had to eat one on my way home. Just like mentioned by other reviewers, the ube bread is to die for. So sweet and soft. I bought all that they had when I was there. I would have bought more but like I mentioned before it looked like everything was picked clean before I got there. I really wanted to try their famous Londres but they were still making it. One thing that sucks is that they charge a fee if you use your credit card. It's small fee but I thought I should mention it to those who want to know. -

This is my stop for pandesal and other fresh baked goods is great.
I really can't say much about the place, but it is a nice mom and pop ran store in the neighborhood. I'm a big fan of supporting small shops like these, so come on down and check them out. I'm pretty sure you'll find something that you would like. I suggest picking up some pandesal. -

Tried this for the first time after seeing it on Yelp. I really didn't remember they were there. I tried the ube bread (yum) and also bought wheat pandesal to try later.
As someone else mentioned, they sell out fast. I went in at 10am and they had lots of bread but were out of most of their sweet treats. They open at 6am so I'm going to try to swing by earlier next time. -

The best pandesal in town. Friendly and nice people.
Looking for Hot pandesal in the morning, go to this place HOT AND FRESH. You will love it. Ube bread and londres are also recommended. -

The pan de sal and the Londres are the two things that make me come back to this hole-in-the wall bakery in Rancho Penasquitos.
The mocha londres with cream filling is better that the ube (purple yam) one. Order a day ahead to make sure they have enough. The staff are friendly enough, although parking is sometimes a hassle. -

We came close to closing, so I wasn't able to really experience much of the baked goods/food offerings. Much of the shelves were empty so all I ended up with was a strawberry turnover ($1.35). It was flaky and I did enjoy the crispness. There wasn't much filling inside, however.
Small shop and the uncle working there was super nice, yet, soft spoken. I was going to pick up some pan de sal, but I still had some at home. Next time, I'll def try more baked items when they have additional items in stock.
Sampled the strawberry londres and it was pretty good! I would be interested in ordering a box for a future event. -

I got the cinnamon cupcake with cream cheese frosting and it was ok.
I used to always get the food for the gods bar, but they stopped baking them. Those were fantastic! I should probably see if i can special order them.
This is the best place to get hot pandesal nonetheless! I would suggest calling first. Because of its popularity, they may not be readily available. I will always take a chance and just stop by before I go to work bc it's so close by. Plus, my coworkers love it when I share. Hehe
I also like their mamon special as well as their londres! Fresh and fluffy! You will need to special order the londres if you want to assure that you'll have some for your special event or even just to fulfill your craving.
Weekends are incredibly busy because they are short handed so you'll have to have some patience. Come earlier so your rushed on time. -

With competition just across the street at Orient Valley, who's been there for almost 30 years, Andell's does pretty well with the little shop that they have. I heard about this from my aunts and uncles after the other point-point joints and bake shops got bombarded one weekend w/ back-to-back orders.
I'd have to say, they're selection of foods for lunch/dinner is rather slim when you compare them to Orient Valley or Christy's (formerly Valerio's) in Mira Mesa. However, I think they are a good choice for an alternative to the other bake shops between PQ and Mira Mesa. Their ube cake is pretty good. The mango cake has just the right ratio of mango, frosting, and cake.
So, next time you need an alternative to the regular Filipino bakeshops, head over here. It's a little hard to find, but just remember it's across from Stater Bros. on the opposite end of the mall from Carls Jr. -

This Filipino bakery is on the small side. You can definitely find a larger variety of baked items at Goldilocks or some of the other Filipino bakeries in Mira Mesa.
I'm not sure you can find better ube bread though. The only thing I've tried here is the ube bread and a raisin/walnut bread (something I hadn't seen at any of the other Filipino bakeries). Fresh that morning, the ube bread simply melted in my mouth. It was fabulous. The raisin/walnut bread was absolutely delicious. We are still finishing both items up and they are still good. Very good bakery. Not too sure about the healthiness of these items as they taste WAY too good.
Definitely a great bakery to get basic Filipino baked goods if that is your thing. Every once in a while it is my thing.Listed in: Sweet Eats (San Diego Style!)

The rotin rolls for 60 cents - YUMMO but only on weekends (friday - sunday). I know a lot of people who get cakes here so I'll have to try it out sometime.

I was excited to come to Andell's to try their pandesal since I heard it was the best in town, complete disappointment! I cannot even come close to explaining it's taste, it was a combination of sweet and sour, so don't let the exterior softness fool you.
If you want good pandesal stick to Valerio's. You'll just waste your time and money coming to this place. -

If you need a quick dessert to bring to a party, call in an order of Loundres (layered sponge cake), and for $10 you're set. They have multiple flavors such as mango, ube (taro root), mocha (my favorite) and vanilla.
Their selection of food is a little slim, but it isn't where you won't be satisfied if you walked in for a quick filipino meal. It's definitely a good place to pick up a pack of pan de sal and or anything else random you might choose. -

I come here for the Presh Warm Pandesal that they cook every morning. My kids love them and me and Wife enjoy them every weekend morning. We can finish a whole bag in one sitting :P. One warm bag of awesomeness will cost you just under $3 including tax for a dozen.

I must've came late as everything was practically gone. I had heard about their pan de sal but it was either frozen or sat out for way too long. I wanted fresh not borderline stale. After sampling the londres, we ended up picking out the turnovers. The gentleman behind the counter (or as Maria would say "Uncle") was kind and helpful. He told me if we want fresh everything, we'd hafta come in the morning when they first open. Too bad its too far. Maybe, I'll managed to get my friend Maria to pick me up some when she heads over there.

This place has the best londres - my favorite is the Mocha. A regular box is only $10.75 for 24 pieces.
it's so light and fluffy you can't eat just one :) -

Great pan de sal! I have to travel a little farther to get here, but it's worth the drive. My family stocks up on their pan de sal and siopao. Very tasty stuff!

Andell's Bakery makes the best pandesal in San Diego! Aside from the great Filipino staple bread, they have the famous "londres" (layered sponge cake) available in vanilla, mocha, ube and mango flavors. You can also upgrade for special filling for these great snack cakes.
