The hotel was MADE for benders.
Thank you for the no-questions-asked late check-out. -
Review from Brian K.
More disappointing than the time your friend played a trick on you by getting you a Lotto ticket and then showing you a taped news story with the Lotto numbers from last week (HINT: your "winning" numbers).
The summary? Half-baked job renovating the hotel. Popcorn ceiling? You got it! The lightswitch covers? Old school, off-white covers that reminiscient of an old Vegas casino. Many things about the room can be described as, "Half assed."
Service? I wouldn't know: you can't even identify who is an employee due to the staff's very casual attire (jeans, t-shirt, and white kicks). A few times, I was addressed with, "Sup man?" I thought he was a hotel guest or some up-and-coming musician.
The lobby? Many hotel lobbies have inviting, comfortable lobbies that are condusive to lounging or relaxing. Here, it's just cramped and awkward.
The Holiday Inn brand went through massive renovations and I'd prefer HI to fancy Hyatt properities any day of the week. If you need a laugh, take a look at the shower "doors". They failed miserably in the trendy, door-less option as water splashes everywhere. If designing hotel rooms is this easy, sign me up.
Prime Hollywood location but don't waste your money here; fortunately we had a hotel voucher. $250 plus tax (retail for this dump) will get you a lot better in the area. -

Nice looking hotel, I love the causal check in procedure, and their cool and laid back bar. If you happen to go for a drink there ask for Caroline the bartender. She has a great smile, is super friendly, and makes a great drink.
It also has a nice decor overall, and a nice rooftop pool with beautiful views. I'm not really digging that old motel carpet smell though. It's why I only stayed here the one time that the Mondrian was completely sold out. -

My fiance got a room for us here during the American Music Award. Collin from the front desk had helped us with the room. We were able to get the booking we wanted though it was originally canceled because the promo code didn't go through. Collin was courteous and helpful and did not at moment pointed out that we didn't use the right promo code and that we were coming at a night that would be overly booked because of the AMA. I told Collin that I was looking to doll up for the event and he put me in touch with Byram, a hair stylist and makeup artist, around the corner immediately. Byram immediately went into the shop to help me.
We had such a great time at the AMA! Our friends recently got married and a few of us booked a room for her and her husband at the Andaz. I called Collin up to help us and he made sure that champagnes and macaroons would be delivered to the newly weds for us. Though he was out on the day my friends checked in, Collin emailed me to find out about my friend and her husband's time of arrival so that he can coordinate when the stuff can be delivered. And then he followed up with me afterwards to make sure they had a great time! We will definitely come back to Andaz again the next time we're in Hollywood. We love Hyatt and all of its hotels and restaurants. -

They don't have a store and the nearest place to get anything is a cab ride which was a pretty big bummer when I got sick on my last visit.
Also it's the snacks that are complimentary so don't go nuts on the alcohol even though they say the mini bar is free.Listed in: Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn--Say…

-- The Penthouse Review --
The Set-Up:
- Company planned Winter Holiday Ball at the Andaz Penthouse.
The Venue:
- Indoor had a large open space with several seating areas and a small dance floor; very similar format to a one room bar/lounge.
- Outdoors had a good number of seating areas and portable heaters.
- Killer view of Hollywood while out on the rooftop.
- Small heated pool .. unfortunately no one decided to take a dive in the cold winter weather.
- Super small men's bathroom.
The Execution:
- Valet was super nice and fast even on a bustling Sat. night.
- Staff and bartenders were friendly enough and service was good.
- Servers were running around in white sneakers rather than uniform shoes .. for some reason this just stuck out to me as a bit disjointed.
Definitely a fun place for having parties but I can't speak for the price given the location and prestige of the hotel. -

This place is almost too cool for me.
I travel to WeHo for business every two weeks and I've stayed at most of the hotels in the area in the price range. The Andaz surprised me when I walked in - I thought I walked into a lounge. I essentially did, there's a nice bar right next to the entrance. A complementary bottle of wine, sparkling water or juice was a great touch after a day of travel. iPads on a countertop lieu of a front desk was cool, but had the staff not greeted me I probably would have walked out thinking I was in the wrong place.
The room is sparse but I like the minimalist style. The sparseness makes the room feel spacious. An abundance of space is quite rare in most hotels, and makes it feel like home. Andaz not only has free wifi, but non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are on the house. The location is very convenient.
Complaints: parts of the hotel has seen some use. Nothing appalling, but details like a scratched elevator door, paint chipping on the soap holder and unpainted screws take away a bit of the magic. The bathroom is way too small, and this is coming from a guy who spends 5 minutes in the bathroom in the morning.
For the complaints I'd take away a star. But I'm giving an extra star for the freebies, which are actually healthy - nature valley bars, pop chips, and nuts. Sure, if I ate everything it might be $20, but if they charged it would have been the norm. How many hotels make you feel like they care? Maybe I'm feeling a bit melodramatic after an existential discussion with the cab driver. Bottom line - Andaz is a great value and it's become my go to. -

As a Hyatt Platinum member, I was not comfortable at first when being greeted by a plainclothed hotel worker wanted to check me in on a sofa in the lobby. I had to overcome my doubt before handing over my credit card to what appears to be anyone off the street. The unconventional lobby (no counter) and check-in process really threw me off. The room was not bad and the decor was very trendy. You can eat whatever you want inside the mini bar as heir claim that everything is included.
Like most hotels nearby, we had to valet the car and luckily the valet wore some kind of uniform. -

The interior has been "modernized". The location seemed to be good for West Hollywood and easy to get around even on foot (especially for a place in Southern California).

It was my GF and I 2yr anniversary and I decide to book a room for 2nights a at NICE BOUTIQUE hotel right in our backyard (LA). So Andaz it is!! We pretty much knew what to expect from this lovely hotel due to all the yelpers review that we read. The staff here are very friendly maybe because its West Hollywood! :-).....
So.....when u first walk in you're kind of clueless on who to talk to and where to go because there's no front desk. My GF and I had to wait at least 5-10 mins before being helped. Staff is nice, ambiance is beautiful, but the location is the best part!!! Everything is near by: coffee shops, stores, clubs, and local restaurant spots!! Perfect for a morning walk and grabbing a bite to eat. We don't really have any major complaints about our room, just that the art work on the wall was peeling off! Beds were comfy, bathroom is clean, but they could use a better shower head. Oh and PLEASE get rid of that lite bread stick at your 5pm-7pm wine tasting and add cheese that may compliment the selected wine. (Just a thought) -

I stayed here on a whim on a rainy Saturday night, right before the LA Marathon. The front desk was helpful, polite, and got me a room immediately. I stayed at the hotel for less than 12 hours so I can't write a thorough review, but I will note that the bed was comfy and the shower was probably the best hotel shower I have ever used. My only complaint is that there wasn't a toothbrush in the bathroom and the hotel didn't have a small shop to purchase toiletries, but that's not a big deal. I couldn't actually leave the hotel lobby until around 2pm due to the road closures, but the staff was helpful in updating guests on when the roads nearby would be opening.
I'd give it 5 stars, but I didn't get to experience the rest of the hotel considering my short stay. -
Review from Cassie P.
I made my rezi via Priceline for $160 a night, that was cool.
The parking is $32 a day, that was not cool.
More cool things, a clean room with a comfy bed, free drinks and snacks in the mini bar, a quiet corner room facing the hills, a poolside cabana all to myself, nice valet guys, in the heart of all things Hollywood.
More things that are not cool, if you have a room facing Sunset, it will be loud, traffic on Sunset sucks and it takes forever to get any where, the mini fridge and air conditioner are loud, the free wifi was SOOOO SLOOOWWW, it killed me! -
Review from Steven H.
I have stayed here twice, once in 2010 and once in mid-2011, and enjoyed both stays tremendously with one or two minor negatives. First, I love the check-in with no front desk concept. Both stays I was greeted by Dean, who is a cool and knowledgeable guy. He sets the vibe of the place - cool, a little off center (in a good way) and casual. They offer wine gratis on check in - why, yes, I will have a glass of the cabernet. And it is good wine, not the usual crapola you get for free.
The lobby is minimalist but warm. The rooms are minimalist, if not warm. I love that they took the former "Riot Hyatt" terraces and converted them into interior space with seating so you can look out on the wonderful views of downtown LA below. Beware - if you stay on a Saturday night it gets loud. The Sunset Strip is still quite the party zone - noisy till the very, very wee hours of the morning. It is fine the rest of the week, though. Beds are comfortable, love the free snacks and iced tea in the minibar. The bathrooms are fine and both times I stayed they had really terrific toiletries from a company I had never heard of but would buy if I ever saw it in a store. Pharmacologie, I think it was.
I love the rooftop pool deck. Great place to bring the laptop to do work or simply relax and admire the views of the city and the Hollywood Hills. It is lushly landscaped and the wi-fi works great, well enough for me to iChat without problems.
I had the buffet breakfast at RH on my last stay as my rate included it and it was quite good. Very interesting selection of smoked fish, prosciutto, European cheeses, good coffee, etc.
I hate that all LA hotels charge $32 for valet parking, Rip-off galore, but par for the course, sadly. At least wi-fi is free here. I'll be back! Hope Dean will be there - he's awesome. -

Had a great experience here. Checked in on Sunday and it was a breeze. The hostess was SOO friendly and brought us glasses of wine while we waited.
The room was comfortable and if you can, get a room with a city view. So amazing at night with floor to ceiling windows, you feel like you are on top of the world.
Rooftop pool is great. We had some friends come over and meet us in our room, then went up to the pool. No issues whatsoever.
32 dollars for valet sucks, but I'm guessing it is probably about the same everywhere in that general area.
Another good thing is that the hotel offers complimentary snacks and non alcoholic drinks in your room. I have never seen a hotel do that.
Overall, extremely satisfied =) -

This hotel is cool. Really sleek design and beautiful bed. The open shower was kind of a mess but it looks cool. Cute knick knacks on the desk. Decent wifi. FREE snacks and drinks!!! Fun location on the Strip within walking distance of restaurants and bars. It is a great little boutique hotel.

Sweet place! I had the pleasure of staying here for New Years 2012. It is a fantastic location with plenty of high tech amenities in your room. It's like the Hyatt the Jetsons would stay at. You must make time to go have coffee in one of the roof top cabanas. You won't be sorry.

Stayed here On a Saturday night, we were headed to the viper room & decided to be responsible adults and cab it so I found a deal on the Hyatt website. I was suprised by the upgrade from the old-hyatt hotel I had stayed at years ago, it was really nice. The host Nathan was amazing, they offer free wine at check in, and if you are a Hyatt passport gold member you can get free late checkout. Let be real who doesn't need that after a night out in WeHo! We were upgraded to a sunset strip view room with a sitting area so you can people watch. I absolutely loved this hotel & will add it to my go to hotels for those special nights out :)
p.s. Did I mention the free minibar? -

Great food! Wonderful ambiance! I've eaten here a few times! The spaghetti bolognese is some of the best I've ever had. The smoked salmon is really good along with their chicken and their scallop dish is really good, as well.
The only thing I've had that I didn't like was this weird dessert dish that is made with rum. It sounds good but it comes out and the pastry part of the dish is way too soggy from all the rum it's soaked in? It's very odd and for us, unedible.
Everything else has been great including the service.
As for the room...I've been in a regular room and a suite. The regular rooms are nice. I saw their rooms before the remodel and this is a huge improvement! But I was truly impressed with their suites. They are PERFECT for a party or nice sized gathering. The suite is the size of a fairly large one bedroom apartment. A lot of open spaces for movement. Two full-sized bathrooms. And I especially love the separate seating area that can be closed off with curtains and has it's own flat screen, overlooking Sunset Blvd. Very nice touch to an already really large space! -
Review from Mica M.
The Riot Hyatt is seriously cool. You can't beat the amazing location, stellar food, and overwhelming sense of music history here. The lobby is casually elegant, and the staff is helpful but low-key.
The rooms are clean and modern, and it's clear that a lot of thought went into stocking the righteous mini bar and snack tray. The selection of complimentary beverages includes Sierra Nevada, red and white wine, and organic green tea. Hard alcohol (gin, vodka, and scotch) is also available, but you have to pay for it.
Over the course of three days, I think we only ate two meals on our own. The rest of the time, we ate at the amazing Andaz restaurant. For breakfast, you have several choices. One is the lovely omelette with a variety of gorgeous fillings. Another is their divine sourdough bread with fresh fig preserves. But for me, the only choice is the Belgian waffle. I'm sorry, did I say Belgian waffle? I meant buttery, crispy, croissant-flavored mouth heaven. With fresh whipped cream and seasonal berries. Easily the best Belgian waffle I have ever eaten.
For dinner, a stand out was the tortilla soup. It's pureed, so it's sort of like a Mexican version of tomato soup with crispy wontons on top. Delicious with more of that warm sourdough bread.
Also amazing: the rooftop pool. If you're up early, you will have the whole place all to yourself. Business travelers, take note. If you wake up and sit in one of those lush nest chairs with your laptop and coffee, you can work virtually undisturbed until about noon. It does close at 9 pm, though, so party people plan accordingly. Apparently they were getting complaints from the neighbors about the late night roof top revelry, so they have to keep it quiet after sundown.
Also, the security is pretty decent. To operate the elevators, you need a room key. Otherwise, the elevator will take you straight to the lobby.
This is such an amazing hotel. If you aren't planning on staying the night, at least pop into the bar for a drink. You can watch Almost Famous (which features the hotel) on the projection screen, or schmooze with the beautiful people and enjoy a cocktail or two. -

My review here is past overview as I've stayed here at least 3 times in the last few years..
Boutique style check in and cool lobby and rooms. If you want a weekend getaway or place to stay cause' your dancing at one of the clubs in Hollywood then stay here.
The rooftop pool is very laid back with a view of LA and a great place to just hang out in the afternoon and chill.
My first choice in Hollywood! -

Very nice hotel and friendly service. Would give it 5 stars but the check in process took forever.
Rooms are very nice and the rooftop pool was relaxing. -
Review from Ron T.
Lets see...
The hotel staff was friendly and helped my how to roam around town. You will barely notice the staff as they do not wear uniforms ( I would be very thankful if I'm working there). The environment is relaxed casual yet modern. And there is no reception area. It's just a table with computers and people walking around.
They have free non alcoholic drinks and snacks in which helped me satisfy my sudden hunger after walking hills. They also have free wifi ( I feel mentioning it as an added perk as most hotels -cheapy ones- charge you for it).
You know what's better than resting in your plush room after a quick hike? Lounging on a rooftop pool with bar. And a chaise lounge with mojito waiting for you with towels. Sweet eh? Depending on where your periphery is, it's either the city view or the hillside neighborhood. It's a win-win view here.
Finding parking can be a bit troublesome. Heck, maneuvering by the lobby to an untrained eye (I don't have any sense of direction at all) could make your hairs gray. Kidding aside, the valet attendants are just as helpful and accommodating as the concierge.
So, who's in for shopping and dining? -
Review from Hanna H.
This hotel is awesome. Service is sooo friendly, almost too friendly that it borders creepy. Looks for deals - I got a great deal on Priceline, half the price they normally charge for a room.
At check in is a complimentary drink. The rooftop pool bar has a great view.
Best part: COMPLIMENTARY MINI BAR - minus alcohol. -

I am super duper rarely using 5-stars on Yelp. However, I had to do it today for this hotel. I just returned from a weekend excursion to L.A. (where I have been often), and I must say this is the best hotel I have stayed at there...and I've stayed at a resort or two.
Upon entering this boutique hotel (operated by Hyatt), you realize, something is different. There is no front desk. Nope...instead, they sit you down on a couch and check you in while you have a glass of complimentary wine (which they serve each evening...BONUS!). Then you are shuttled to your minimalist but very nice room.
The rooms are great, and some have lovely little sunrooms overlooking the L.A. skyline. Highly recommend. All the amenities are there, and the wet bar is FREE except for the alcohol. Double bonus!!!! The staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful! They are especially helpful when it comes to getting reservations to hot restaurants or access to trendy bars. And, they don't want anything for it...it is their pleasure. Word. Up.
The rooftop pool is lovely, as well. Just get there early to score a cabana. The hotel also offers a nice workout room and a great restaurant and bar.
I felt like a rockstar there, and it is the first place I will stay upon my return. You are within steps of some great restaurants and bars, so you don't have to go far to have fun. The beach is a bit of a drive (20-30 min.), but this hotel is well worth it. 5-stars...easy! -

Phoenix, AZ
I stayed at the Andaz West Hollywood for 3 nights during the Halloween weekend 2011. I love the hotel's esthetic, everything is pleasing to the eye. Design wise, it would have been so cool if the elevator had a stop directly on the same floor as the pool. Instead one has to walk up a flight of stairs. Which isn't arduous provided your stay doesn't coincide with an upscale hollywood film industry event and you're walking about in swim wear. Here's the hint, if you're not a fan of that either, there is another elevator if you take a left down the hallway on your right. That elevator is for handicapped access and will only take guests up the one deck so far as I know.
I decided not to mark the hotel down, because in general I received everything I wanted from my hotel experience. I will definitely come back again. This trip was not without ugly moments however. It started out rocky as I had to complain about the first room I was put in. I don't like to complain and this made me uncomfortable. I'd wanted a room with a view from the beginning but at check-in I was never asked anything about room preferences. I mentioned it being my birthday and received a quick under-the-breath "happy birthday." When I got to the room I was unimpressed as it was looking directly at the parking garage. I called down and asked about switching to a smoking room with a view. And was told there would be an upgrade and smoking charge assessed. I went down to talk to a manager, got Walter the same guy that checked me in, and nicely explained that I was never asked about what I wanted, so please waive one of the fees. Which he did, so happy birthday me? Anyway, I didn't care about paying, I just wish that I'd been consulted with before placing me in a room. Perhaps thats how you sell upgrades in the hotel industry, I don't know.
Erica, the bartender/server on the rooftop pool deck is pretty cool. The servers up there seem to not intrude on guest business. Which is kind of cool unless you're the type thats expecting someone to run over to you every time you make eye contact. So, its cool they're not all in your face or interrupting your sunbathing.
The valet guys were pretty cool. I don't appreciate that they don't speak english well. I'm not used to idle conversation with a language barrier before driving away in my car. But, they took care of my car and were generally friendly.
Room service was expensive but delicious. I like that the gratuity was included in the in-room dining and poolside bar experiences.
Also, the guest were very diverse. This I appreciated because I didn't want the ultra-trendy experience of some other LA boutique hotels. -

Andaz is part if the Hyatt Chain, but yet has a boutique feel. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by employees who aren't wearing your typical uniform jackets or all cream or black coats but they are dressed very hip and casual. I love how there isn't a registration desk. The host walks you over to their laptop and checks you in and they even offer you a glass of wine! How can that NOT be a sign of a good stay at their establishment? the mini bar is free! They stock it with water, juices, soda, chips, trail mix, and candy...and may i remind you again...it's all FREE! The room was very spacious. It was a deluxe room but felt more like a suite. There was a little nook with a sofa and love seat that had it's own personal TV.
Complimentary wine and free continental breakfast...that was another great addition for our stay. The Andaz is in a great location right on Sunset, near everything. Even when you check out, they offer mints and candy for your safe trip home. I love this place and cannot wait to come back. -

This is the place that I recommend to all of my friends. Free Wifi is just the beginning. Did I hear free continental breakfast and glasses of wine in the evening? Located on Sunset Strip where all the cool locals like me go out at. Walking distance to amazing restaurants, clubs, live music, and shopping.
The rooms are a reasonable size, nice, clean, and modern. Our room has an amazing view of the city. It is defiantly a great place for young couples or singles to stay at. I love playing tourist in my own hood :-)Listed in: Hotels

Just spent 2 days at this hotel and wow, who knew I could find luxury in WeHo?
Check-in was very non-descript, with me missing the check-in counter completely as I thought it was a group of people just working on the their laptops. The gent who checked us in, also took our bags to our room and explained the amenities of our one-bedroom suite. FREE wifi, FREE mini-bar (non-alcoholic drinks and snacks) and FREE breakfast (came with our AAA plan). $300/night.
To boot, there are free drinks served in the lobby when you check-in, not to mention an evening happy hour service with wine from 5:30 - 8PM daily, and on the weekends a pool deck party!
Our one bedroom suite was incredible! It had two flat screens, two bathrooms (no tub, just shower), a reading area, living room, bar table/stools, and retro 80's decor. . amazing!
The only costly item was the daily valet charge at $32/day, which is still cheaper than the daily rate at the Hyatt in SF at $57/day. Also, the billboards plastered to the side of the hotel are a bit cheesy. . but that's me being picky.
Next time I'm in LA, I will be staying at the Andaz. Hyatt should definitely consider opening more Andaz properties! -

Neat Perks - Free wine happy hour from 5:30-8:30. Mini bar snacks and non-alcholic drinks are free. How rad is that?
The Drawbacks - The shower sucked. It's a bad case of "form over function". It's basically a stall half-enclosed by a glass wall. Since there is no door, the shower cannot get steamy enough and is therefore cold and unpleasant. Also, the parking is $32.
Overall - Gorgeous hotel, great location, excellent customer service. I got a sweet deal from Priceline and could not have been happier. I spent all weekend congratulating myself on getting such a great deal. -

The party on the rooftop of Andaz was SaaaWEEEEEET!
I love the floor-to-ceilings windows of the ballroom that gave way to a glamorous bird's eye panoramic, 180 view of LA and its city lights. The deep cabanas outside also looking out to the edge of the hotel were a haven for warmth and seclusive conversation.
Outdoor and indoor bars were well stocked with Moet. Because last night was the Sex and City 2 DVD release party, they set up two photo booths, two stages, and a makeup station - with enough room to spare for a dance floor and DJ!
They were also able to reflect the theme into the pool with lighting. :D There was a sort of 'kitchen' counter area where food was displayed and brought out, too. I just adore the whole setup!
Valet parking is $10. -
Review from LEA A.
We stayed here this past saturday night for one of our gf's bday bash...awesome hotel! The rates are pretty up there-not sure how much since it was comped by a friend. There is no check in desk-just people with ipads apparently. Overnight valet parking is $32/night. The upstairs pool was small;the view was of the Hollywood hills and sunset strip-absolutely gorgeous!
We stayed in a suite and the room was nicely decorated-very trendy! Complimentary snacks and drinks in the room-they also provide bottles of alcohol but thats an extra charge.Also..COMPLIMENTARY wine in the lobby from 5-8pm everyday as well as gourmet coffee/snacks in the morning :)
Definitely a place I would recommend to stay over for a safe, fun and worry free night on the town. Good for groups :) -

Rowland Heights, CA
stayed last weekend in a standard room (i think?) w/a king sized bed.
pros:
- location: right on sunset, just steps from a hodgepodge of places
- decor: sleek, modern, stylish, clean lines with great use of color
- personalized style: when you walk in someone greets you right away and helps you out. (though this kind of caught me off guard when i first entered. i wasnt even sure they worked there). they are in plain clothes and everyone i encountered were extremely friendly and helpful.
- happy hour: free wine in the early evening
- free snacks and drinks! the only thing in the rooms you had to pay for was the alcohol
- view: if youre lucky enough to be on the south side of the building you get a great view of sunset, DT, LA
- sexy: the room was sexy. if you dont know im talking about, check the rooms out. especially the bed. and the well placed mirrors. ill leave it at that.
cons:
- parking fee: $32/night
- how the heck do you pronounce andaz? hahaha i couldnt tell and neither could my friends
- price: not cheap, but i think if you want to be om weho in a swanky place, this place is great
would i come again? maybe, if i was willing to splurge -
Review from Hiromi N.
San Francisco, CA
Hmmm... well, I wish that I could write a more comprehensive review of this hotel. Let's just say that my stay was short, even though I had booked to stay here for 3 nights and 4 days, I only ended up staying here for 1 night and part of a day. I traveled from SF to LA and met up with some of my lovely gay friends and acquaintances for the pre- and post- New Year's Eve celebrations around LA. I did not have a hand at making reservations, my friend, who attends these parties handled arranging, hotel and transport for me.
I stayed with a friend in Pasadena on Thurs, but then, made my way to this hotel on NY Eve (Friday) at around 6pm. Initially, I was a bit taken aback by the fact that there is not a reception desk, the reception area/lobby is open and quite different. Upon arrival, you are greeted by hotel employees, seat you in the lobby, take your drink request and while you sip on a beverage of your choice, they are helping other clients, who were in queue prior to you, or they are following up on your reservation on computers that are stationed in the middle of the lobby.
While I can remark that initially the staff were friendly, there apparently was some mix-up of rooms, a distribution of null and void room keys prior to my arrival with other members of my party. Also, an issue with me not being listed on the main reservation, which prohibited them from letting me upstairs while my friends were out dining, until the person helping me spoke with the person who had made the reservation. Yet, the key provided to me was also a dud. Luckily, there was someone else who was resting in the room and who let me in so that I wouldn't have to schlep my way back downstairs. THANK GOODNESS!
It was a bit chaotic to say the very least.
Yet, the room where my luggage lay for 2 nights and where I eventually did return to a day and a half later was clean & functional. *haha*
I ended up crashing at a friend's place after the New Year's Eve celebration until 2 days later.
What I did notice was that the rooms facing Sunset Blvd, are quite noisy and it is difficult to get the room completely dark. It kind of reminded me of Vegas rooms. Maybe, we didn't know how to operate the window shade (if there was one). There can be good rates for groups. -

Best check in process I've ever experienced! We were immediately greeted by our concierge, Dean. He told us to have a seat on their couch and relax and also asked us what type of wine we prefer. He brought us some wine as he checked us in using his laptop.
Dean took care of us our whole stay which was 2 nights. He gave us suggestions on where to dine and party.
I loved the free wine at night and croissants, coffee, and apples in the morning.
We had the one and only Corner 1 bed suite w/2 queen beds. All the other 1-bedroom suites only come with 1 king bed. Our fabulous room had:
- 2 bathrooms!!!
- 2 sunrooms (1 attached to the living room and 1 in the bedroom)
- living room with a dining table that seats 4
- Large L-shaped leather sofa
- 2 iPod decks (bedroom and living room)
- 4 TVs (1 for each sunroom, 1 in for living room, & 1 in the bedroom)
- 2 robes
- Complimentary mini bar snacks, sodas, and juices
The bedroom was so spacious! The bedroom itself was larger than the last hotel room I stayed at in Hollywood.
When it comes to customer service and getting the most for your money this place goes above and beyond any other hotel I've stayed at. It feels like a W hotel but with better customer service. 5 stars all the way!!
Note: Bring your own lotion, shampoo, and conditioner if you're picky about smell. We thought it smelled too herbal. -

3.5 stars overall.
THE FRONT DESK.....weird weird weird....I just didn't quite know what to do or what I had walked into? Was this the business center? Why are there so many people standing here with luggage and laptops?
Well, despite being odd, a girl did sense my confusion, and came to greet me and got me settled in.
Apparently, they just have a really "unique" front desk situation.
THe ROOM....great! awesome view of the city....nice, comfy beds. All around decent.
THE ROOM SERVICE.....while the food was good, the lady on the phone was a B-I-T-C-H. not only was she rude, but she gave wrong information and put our order in wrong. The guy who delivered the food was really sweet, tho!
OVERALL....Nice place... I like the renovations. The valet guys are really nice, too. $28 bux a night, tho, for hotel guests....kinda pricey!
enjoy!

Absolutely LOVED this hotel! Stayed here Jan 2-4, 2011 and had an amazing time.
Service - the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful - from checking in, valet, asking for advice on where to eat, and during their happy hour - everyone was so nice!
Room - had a view of the hills behind the hotel. Beds were SO comfortable - plus they offer free soda, water, and snacks in the room! (if you wanted alcohol, you had to pay - but they have a free wine happy hour from 5:30-8:30 everyday!)
I would recommend this hotel to everyone - families, business travelers, tourists, girls weekend, etc. It was such a fun place with great ameneties and a positive vibe! I can't wait to go back. -

Unlimited free glasses of wine at check-in would have been enough to bring me back to the Andaz, but no, they didn't stop there...
My room, which only cost $135 with my government rate, came equipped with big, soft towels, terrycloth robes, slippers, a down comforter and pillows, a giant flat screen TV, free snacks and refreshments, and a gorgeous view of the West Hollywood Hills.
The location is prime, and to top it off, I returned to my room after a run to find the hotel swarming with LA scenesters. Why, you ask? Because Kaskade was DJing for some promo event for a new ABC show on the roof.
Let me repeat that, KASKADE - who I spent forty bucks to see in SD not a month before - was DJing on the effing roof.
This is easily the nicest and most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in (inside the Continental US). Here's a little comparison for you, just to make the decision easier. Regular Hyatt: Hotel Andaz :: warm can of Keystone Light: well-poured, cold glass of Chimay. Do yourself a favor and check. it. out. ASAP. -

It's been over a year since I lauded the hotel for it's architecture and service. While the service remains stellar thanks to the hardworking staff, unfortunatley the way staff is treated makes this place a no-no in my book.
The American Journal of Industrial Medicine found that Hyatt housekeepers have the highest rate of injuries in the industry (Feb2010). Hyatt's Refresh program is basically a factory-style "speed up" in which workers do more work for the same amount of pay. Uncool. Also one of their biggest investors
Doug Manchester, was a huge funder to the Prop 8 campaign, which banned marriage equality.
Andaz, I want to love you but my head says no.
Hyatt you want this Queer Woman's money, you gotta do the right thang.

Our friends are in LA this weekend and we decided to spend a few hours with them at their hotel before dinner at The Bazaar.
My first impression of the hotel was that the Andaz is in a great location for visitors, in the heart of the sunset trip between skybar and the standard. The hotel itself is very cool and hip inside- but not overdone. After 5pm there is an "open" wine bar( meaning you can just pour yourself wine for free for as long as you want!). We had a glass of wine and headed up to the pool area which has an amazing view of the city and isn't overly clubby. The rooms were spacious and clean. They told us everything in the mini bar was free ( except the alcohol). I would say this hotel is similar to a "W" in style, but in terms of perks and services, Andaz is far superior to the W brand.
I will definitely be checking out Andaz properties the next time im in San Diego and NYC. They will be expanding in 2011 which is great news. A lot of their properties are in Europe, but I sincerely hope they branch out a lot in the US too.
