This review is for the bar area.
Three awesome things about this bar:
    1) They serve cocktails in wooden baskets...very sleek
    2) Bar is open, not separated.  It's like you are hanging out in the living room of your very hip and very rich friend.
    3) Free snacks...passed.

We'll be back.  Next time, we're staying here.

From checking in on an iPad (there is no reception desk), free WiFi, iPod alarm clocks, and fully automated light controls the Andaz Wall Street is a top tech friendly hotel. Add in free wine in the lobby, all you can drink, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm and you avoid the need for pre-dinner cocktails.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed. They also provide for you all you can drink soda, water, juice, and snacks (but don't open the 250ml of Grey Goose it's $32!).

The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating and they even have a good restaurant right in the hotel. I would 100% return back here.

ONE Hard, Rigid Old Mattress + TWO Flimsy Uncomfortable Pillows, THROW IN an 83 Degree Room, Open Window, with Traffic, Honking and Sirens ALL NIGHT LONG = No Sleep and a Very Cranky Girl!

No Pillowtop mattresses here. The floor actually might have been equally as comfortable as the bed.  We called down 3 times to complain that the air conditioning did NOT work. They said, the hotel was in winter mode, so no air conditioners were working...best we could do was open the windows...then hear traffic and horns blowing ALL night long! It was the worst night I've ever spent in a Hyatt with zero sleep.

We are Hyatt Diamond members...they gave us extra points in an effort to make amends, but I would NEVER return here and I would not recommend!

Though none of the Hyatts in the city can compare to the old Stanhope, Hyatt 48 Lex or the 5th Avenue Andaz are the most comfortable Hyatts in the city.

Modern, quiet, extremely stylish.  Those are a few of the words used to describe Andaz.  I didn't know there were hotels right on Wall Street so far downtown.  This is THE hotel.  Andaz just oozes sleekness & coolness all over and the staff is incredibly friendly.

Can I tell you something?  I want my bathroom to look EXACTLY like an Andaz bathroom.  All black tiles, an epic sink and a shower that could fit probably 5 people!  You can break-dance in it.  The soap is made from 100% vegetables and there is definitely an earth-conscious vibe here that you can't avoid and that's a nice thing.  Our fridge was stocked with fruit juice, plain & sparkling water, iced tea and Stella Artois!

The interior design is beyond eye catching and it personifies what downtown is all about.  I have to stay here again, I just have to...

I was very pleased to get an early check in at Andaz.  Many of the larger hotels do not accommodate you this way. Love the modern feel, use of iPad on check-in/check-out and free beverages excluding alcohol. Very quiet section of financial district which is nice.  Great value for the size room as well. Comfy bed. Great experience.

Great service - everyone on the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful.

Our bags were stored while we wandered around New York waiting for our room to be ready. When we came back they had our room ready and promptly brought our bags to our room.

The room was set up with a great design sense and flowed well from the curtains that had two levels of shade with a touch of a button and the lighting with different settings to set the mood. The cabinet where you hang your clothes also rotated so that it could be where you wanted it. Also they have an iPod dock to listen to tunes and doubles as your clock/alarm.

They also had wine available at 6 pm with an attentive staff to see if you cared for another glass of wine. Free coffee drinks are available around the clock along with free snacks in the room. I absolutely loved my experience here. We came for the marathon and Andaz helped us relax before and after the run. The shower is awesome and the large tub is great for relaxing and able to watch TV at the same time if you like (not a big TV fan myself).

Very chic! We spent Christmas weekend here and it was the best gift ever. I was amazed at how quiet the room was, we did hear some sirens and people, but that's a given in NYC. Next time I'll remember to bring a white noise machine. My only complaint would be the bed, it could've used a pillow top mattress pad, a little on the firm side. Otherwise, how could one complain...beautiful clean room, nice toiletries, rain shower, perfect location, free minibar snacks and drinks (except the alcohol - totally understandable), and SUPER friendly staff, who will get you a coffee drink of your choice in the morning along with some complimentary fruit and cookies. Can't wait to go back with my hubbie and puppy. That's right, they're a pet-friendly hotel! :-)

One of the best hotels I've been to. The only real downside as a tourist is how far it is from touristy areas, and event that's debatable.

Though the service isn't ridiculously extravagant like international resorts, it is very professional and prompt - perfect for business travelers.

The room itself was one of the most clean, comfortable, large, functionally impressive hotel rooms I've stayed in (nice living room with a tv, working area / table, then a bedroom area with a tv). There were 4 or 5 large windows spanning the room, with shades that are drawn when you press a button next to your bed. In the room, there's free wifi, free snacks, free drinks (EXCLUDING alcohol, which is free anyway down in the lobby lounge during happy hour).

I rarely ever like the bathrooms in hotels, but the design here was excellent - there's an open shower when you walk in, then a bathtub actually large enough for two inside. Would have loved it if the tv was a little closer though...

Having stayed at 2 Andazs (and 6 Ws) so far, I can now say that I prefer them to SPG's W Hotels.

New York hotel rankings so far:
    1. Andaz Wall Street
    2. W Times Square
    3. Le Parker Meridien
    4. The New York Helmsley Hotel
    5. W Union Square

Love, love, love this hotel. Stay here once or twice a year since it opened. The initial kinks have been worked out in my opinion. Whenever I stay elsewhere I kick myself for not staying here.

The location is not as bad as some will say. It's kind of nice to be away from the throngs of Midwestern tourists that huddle in large numbers at Times Square. There is plenty to do in this area, and if you're not happy, there is a magical metallic underground transportation device very close by.

Only drawback is I feel I will never be cool enough to look as if I belong in this place. Luckily no one has stopped me yet and forced me into an emergency makeover, but I wouldn't blame them if they did.

Upset at other people realizing how fabulous this place is as prices have started to creep up. I miss the good old days when it was my little secret and I could stay here for ridiculously low prices. Wait a minute--this review isn't helping. Forget I said anything...

Ive been meaning to review this place for a long time. We stayed here in March 2010.

THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING! My boyfriend and I arrived one evening during a huge rain storm. We walked from the subway and by the time we walked in the door we were soaked. The moment we entered the door a woman rushed to us to take our bags. She walked us over a comfy couch, offered us wine and let us unwind for a few. A few minutes later she came over and checked us in with a tablet device. She then walked us to our room (carrying all of our bags) and gave us a tour of our room. She showed us how all the fancy switches worked and even described what we were looking at out the window (which was just another building) but still. During the check-in were were upgraded so our room was ultra deluxe. Immediate a great first impression.

A few evenings later we were leaving for the evening and needed to catch a cab. The storm was STILL happening so bundled up and tried to get a cab. Once we told the cab where were going they refused to take and after this happening several times we went inside and asked for advice. The woman at guest services didn't have any great advice, BUT, she went to grab her jacket and attempted to hail us a cab. I mean, this woman was dressed very nice and was willing to get drenched to get us a cab. WOW.

All in all, this hotel really made the vacation for us. Superb on ALL LEVELS. The only downfall is its location. Being gay 20 somethings, Wall St. isn't necessarily the place you want to be. Its DEAD at night. Also, don't stay here with anyone you can't naked in front of. The shower (which was big enough to fit 7 people) has a glass wall that anyone in the room can look into. My boyfriend described it as "sexy".

I was overly pleases with our experience and so surprised at how busy Wall Street was on a holiday weekend. We headed over to Fulton Market and enjoyed drinks in the sand with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge with our feet in the sand at Beekman's Beer Garden.

Upon our initial arrival into the hotel, I noticed ever aspect of the design to be incredibly thought through. To top it all off the staff was phenomenal and excited about their work. Had a great conversation with Stephanie on the phone prior to arrival. Enjoyed how social everyone was in the lobby, especially Charlie during the evening cocktail hour. I look forward to returning again for next year's US Open to see that lovely staff and another beautiful walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.

For everyone trying to check in at 7am....

    Really???

If you can check in at noon let alone 7am without paying extra, consider yourself blessed by the hotel gods if you are staying in any hotel, in most big cities. I'm not trying to be snarky, it's just you really can't expect otherwise. Minus maybe the Peninsula or another hotel with a 24 hour check-in policy. Unless you pay for it, it just doesn't happen often, even with a request.

Back to the hotel. My friend and I decided to split a room for our weekend in NY and we tried Andaz for the first time. I usually gravitate for something closer to UES (Surrey, Longon, etc.) or maybe, maybe even something like the Grand in SoHo, but apparently it's tough to find double beds when booking kinda last minute, something I experienced for the first time in my life since I usually travel alone or with my husband. But it's fun to share a room with your bff sometimes!

The hotel's "intuitive" check in process is definitely not for people who are in a rush. The idea is that you come in, sit down in the lounge with some free snacks and coffee and relax while people come to you with little handheld devices to check you in. Great in theory but in practice, no one was around to actually see us come in. By the time someone did come, we were getting anxious, both of us being the very anti-relaxed types who need instant gratification. So we took matters into our own hands and went up to the pseudo lobby check in station (??) and moved the process along. The guy was very friendly; in fact, everyone was friendly (with the exception of one waiter at the restaurant; more on that in a bit).

Rooms are fine EXCEPT (and this was huge for us, hence the capitalized 'except' to make sure you don't miss it) the bathroom lighting.....Seriously? Who designed it??? Guys, you're (maybe?) safe. Ladies, forget about doing any crazy makeup in that light. Also, the shower leaks through the door which just did not want to close. Other than that, it was great. Free snacks/non-alcoholic drinks = do not need to run to the CVS downstairs to get water. People come by daily in the morning to replenish the minibar too, so you will always have water. Bigelow & co. shampoos, etc. so you don't need to bring your own because it's actually a good line!

The spa seemed cool but despite our best efforts, we just did not have time for it. The restaurant was definitely the big "wtf" here. If I was just judging the restaurant, it would get a 2. But I am really judging just the hotel here, hence the stars.

So, we decide to grab a quick coffee and croissant at the hotel's restaurant because we have a brunch reservation at Fred's coming up. Just a little something to tide us over. Here is what transpired:

    Waiter: Are you ready?
Us: Yes, just two lattes and croissants, please.
Waiter: .......... (long, judgmental silence and I am really not kidding here) Have you ever actually *tried* our brunch (cranky tone)?
Us: Uhhhh...no, but we just want some lattes and croissants please.
Waiter: You know you can get free coffee downstairs, right??
Us: (Incredulously) Yes, we know, but the croissants are not free anyway.
Waiter: Ooook. (He actually said it drawn out like that.)

My friend: Did that just happen??

So yeah. We didn't want a heavy breakfast because we had a brunch in two hours. Also, we are not retarded and fully realize that any restaurant latte is not free and that the downstairs does have free latte (considering how long we waited to check in with our free lattes). Long story summed up, to be judged and questioned by your waiter at 8am when you are tired is just not fun.

Hotel: great overall and quite cheap in pricing; restaurant: needs a second try which we did not have time for. Hopefully, if you guys do try it, you won't get the rude waiter who had almost sealed the fate of the Andaz brunch for us forever haha.

If Yelp had an area for titles I think I'd title this one "Fine Example of Form Over Function".

I was shocked to look the hotel up on Yelp and see all of the great raving reviews ... seriously our stay must have been an anomaly or since we were with a block of rooms for a wedding, our service was not their norm 5 star service. Oh, where do I begin ...

Upon arriving near the hotel and discovering disappointingly that there is no valet, we phoned the hotel and asked where we should park. The person who answered the phone did not speak very clearly and seemed like they were too busy to answer such a little question. We drove to the first garage she recommended and it did not allow SUV parking. We drove to the second garage and it was so full I thank our lucky stars that the attendant was gracious enough to let us park there.

When entering the hotel you can tell that it is a classy and upscale place. It was NICE! We arrived around 2:30pm and explained to them that two people in our party had a wedding cocktails to get to by 5pm. Since we were only 30 minutes early for check in, we figured it would be no big deal. WRONG! We just asked politely to see what they can do and they said they would, so we took a seat in the lobby. Ten minutes passed and the person at the front desk finally came back to check on us. She said if we waited "5 more minutes" (which I will abbreviate later as "5MM") that she would have at least one room available which was perfect. We waited another 10 or 15 minutes and we were finally given some room keys. Upon riding up in the scary elevator (which I will address later) we opened the hotel room door to discover that someone was obviously staying there!!! Thank God that no one was actually in the room, but this made us seriously question the competency of the staff.

So, we ride the elevator back down to the lobby and explain the situation. They were seriously apologetic about this and we received another request to wait "5MM". We sat around again for much longer than 5 minutes before being told that we would receive a complementary upgrade for all of the trouble to a larger room and that someone would bring the keys to the second room as soon as it was ready. GREAT, but by this time it is past the 3pm check in time, shouldn't our room already be ready?!

We head up in the elevator - maybe it depends which one you ride in, but some shake so much while operating it made me nervous to ride them. Seeing as we were on such a high floor, the stairs weren't an option unfortunately.

When we went into the room we were really pleased with the size and the beauty of the furniture and fixtures in the room. However, let me point out to you where the beauty did not outweigh the function of the items:

The lighting was terrible, beautiful and relaxing, but not useful when trying to get dressed or apply makeup.

The bathroom door was clear and it was the door to the shower/tub combo. There was no dressing area, so I guess the expectation was that you'd get naked and prance across the room to get in the shower (probably fine for most people, but not with your brother & sister).

The door to the toilet closet was also clear but at least frosted. Again, not good with your brother and sister in the room.

The sink was gorgeous, but if you turn it on at any rate above a trickle water splashes out of the basin and all over the counter. Additionally, there was some kind of mold growing between the sink and the counter.

The bed was pretty and went well with the design concept, but it was so uncomfortable. If the sofa had been long enough, I probably would have slept there instead.

So back to the rest of the story ... we hang out in the room for 15 minutes or so and call to see where the keys to the 2nd room are because by this time we're wanting to go get a snack. We're told to wait "5MM". We wait the 5 minutes and then decide we're going to head out and surely the 2nd room will be ready by the time we get back. WRONG! By the time we return it is about 3:30pm and the front desk still has no room ready for us, so we head back up to the 1st room. We hang out until about 4pm and then phone down to the front desk. We're told our room was finally ready and that if we wait "5MM" that someone would be up with the room keys. Great, right? Ummm time goes by and still no room keys. We finally decide that we'll just leave and deal with it later ...

When we ride the elevator back down and arrive in the lobby the initial person who was assisting us is no where to be found, but a poor unfortunate unknowing attendant asked us how our day was. Needless to say by this point, I had lost my mind with the continued "5MM" response and so I told him what had happened. And magically he turns around to the computer, punches a few buttons and wallah room keys!! By this time it's 4:45 - check in is at 3!

This was enough hotel drama to frighten me from ever frequenting this hotel again!

This is, by far, for the money, the best hotel I have ever stayed at.  And since I travel for business, that says a lot.

Sleek, modern, clean, free mini-bar, free wi-fi, free wine and snacks in the evenings, free coffee bar...did I mention the free mini-bar and wine?

Since this hotel is in the financial district, it's quiet at night.  Surrounding businesses close early.  There are plenty of places open a few blocks away, and an easy walk to find food, and that's if you don't want to eat at the hotel restaurant or bar.

The mini-bar was stocked with Saratoga water, still and sparkling, Terra chips, chocolate, cliff bars, OJ, iced tea, coke, diet coke...  The alcohol was not free, but not outrageous either.

All in all, there were only 2 downsides:  No Iron/Ironing board in the room, and no coffee maker in the room.  Granted, there's a free barista just waiting to make you a drink downstairs, but sometimes you just want to make a cup of coffee wearing only the towel, and sip it while you get dressed.   These are only small drawbacks though, and don't deter much from the overwhelming positive experience we had.

I don't think we'll stay anywhere else from now on.

Andaz is a great hotel. I stayed at the Andaz for the first time on a recent visit to New York. I was impressed by the quality of the room and service. The min bar and snacks are all free except for the alcohol. They even offered free wine on several of the nights we were there. Free coffee and cookies are also offered in the morning. The workout facilities were kept very clean and they had state of the art equipment. The treadmills were be far the best ones I have seen.

The only hiccup was that our flight arrived at 5am in the morning and our room was not ready, which is understandable. We decided to explore the city as we waited for out rooms to be ready. They told us that they would give us a call when the room was ready. However, we never received a call. We returned to the hotel past 4pm (the normal check in time) and were told the room was still not ready. After complaining they quickly got one for us. This is the only reason I did not give this place 5 stars.

Overall great rooms, facilities and staff. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

Very comfortable, modern, spacious boutique hotel @ a reasonable value.

    ***Short Review

Visited with my GF on our NY trip of Mar 2011.
Very modern, clean, personable boutique hotel that was built around 2009 - 2010.
Rooms are a lot more spacious that the average NY hotel.
Prices are generally lower priced, ours were approx $310/night,
although we also obtained a special for 3 nights from jettsetter website for $160/night (not sure if there are still specials).
Hotel has great amenities, including large gym, spa, excellent Geneva ipod dock, comfy lobby with free wonderfully prepared drinks & snacks.

    Location is great.
It's conveniently located in the relatively quiet (to the rest of NY) Financial district with close access to subway stations.

Some of the room's controls are a bit confusing.
Best to have to the staff show you through the features.

Layout of the rooms are a bit controversial.
There is a wide window that allows you to view from the bedroom, whomever is taking a bath or shower.
This can be awkward if you're sharing the room with say your mom.

    ***Detailed Review

I very much enjoyed staying at this Hotel. The spacious rooms, modern design, location, and very helpful staff (especially Jessica the concierge) were all a delight.

There are so many clever and well thought out details, it's difficult to detail everything-thing here.  The gym is very large and has plenty or free-weights, cardio/weight machines.  In our stay, it was also relatively empty every-time we visited.

Rooms here are stylishly and modernly appointed.  Ceilings are pretty high.  It's very quiet.  Sound is muffled well from surrounding rooms.  At no point did we hear the TV, music, footsteps from rooms beside or above us.  Beds are comfy King size.

The location here is wonderful.  If you're not familiar with NY, the Wall Street district is a relative sanctuary away from the more boisterous parts of town, without compromising convenience.  It can be still a bit touristy, but there are no crowds to fight and the setting in this part of town is more modern and clean, compared to say mid-town.  The only thing I dislike about this part of town is that there are plenty or irresponsible pet owners.  Watch where you step!

The staff here are very friendly, helpful, and efficient.  We were particularly pleased, after a 'red-eye' flight from Los Angeles, that our room was ready around 10:30-11 AM, vs. the regular 3PM (approximate, or so I'd guess) check-in time.

My only complaints would be some of the impractical design elements of the room.  Some of the features, like how to operate the windows, or lighting are well integrated.  However, it would help tremendously to have the staff demonstrate how they work, or perhaps have instructions placed at strategic locations.

The large window between the bedroom area and the bath/shower area is also a bit odd.  It's not unthinkable that even couples would opt for some privacy at times.  If you're staying with buddy or family, this would be just awkward.

The bar is also very comfortable.  On weeknights, for better or worse, it's not too crowded, and a great place to relax before retiring for the night.  The surrounding area also has some wonderful laid-back wine bars and pubs.

No experience with their Spa and restaurant (they have a Sunday brunch buffet that looks appealing).

In the end, this is a great hotel where I feel the pros outweigh the cons considerably.  Despite being owned by one of the larger chains, it has a distinct and charming boutique personality.

The location is right in the heart of wall street, not sure if that is good for tourists but we got a great deal on the place so I can't complain about the location.

Its only a quick walk to the statue of liberty ferries, the bull, and the TKTS ticket booth!

The staff at the hotel are all friendly and always greet you upon entering the hotel.  It was a little pain when we tried to check-in early ~7am, I know maybe too early, all the rooms were still occupied and the housekeeping did not come in yet, so we checked in our luggage and they said they would call us.

We came back around 4pm and our room was STILL not ready, that was a little annoying but they fixed it quick and got us a room.  It was a 2 queen bed room, pretty big for manhattan standards.

The beds were comfy and the bathroom was huge. The shower was huge as well, but one thing is there is a semi-transparent glass from the sleeping area to the bathroom which scared the girls a little bit, so they turned down the shower light so no one got a free show while they showered!

The hotel and fit/finish on everything was very classy and high end.  I would highly reccomend this hotel, only bad thing is its location all the way on the south tip of manhattan.

I love the look of this hotel! But it wasn't really that close to the sites we wanted to see. In the hotel they have complimentary snacks and drinks in the mini frig. Definitely a nice welcome after a long flight in.

The only down side was when we flew in we go in at 7am and they couldn't check us in (which I understand). They had rooms but the rooms were not cleaned yet and told us that after the cleaning ladies cleaned the available rooms at 11am they would have a room for us. They said they would call but never called. So we called them and they said sorry they still didn't have a room for us. We are exhausted after taking the red eye flight in and probably didn't check in til like 4pm because they kept giving our room away when they specifically told us that we would be first to get a room. This was my only complaint.

Other than that the service was good and the people were nice. They even had free wine, cookies, and other drinks available for the guest. I would stay here again.

Its nice to stay in a "brand" hotel that doesn't have the feeling of a corporate cookie cutter look and vibe. I really enjoyed my stay at Andaz. Slick and clean design, cool bathroom with HUGE shower and great toiletries, comfortable platform bed, and great service! The "free" nonalcoholic beverages and snacks in the room is a nice touch. Despite the previous Yelper's review, I love the pillows; I typically hate hotel pillows.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. I was not able to connect to the hotel's wifi service; they provided a data cord to connect via the phone, at no charge.

I typically stay with family in New York. As much as I love my brother in law and his partner, a posh hotel is something that beckons, for privacy and relaxation. I would come back to the Andaz in a heartbeat!

This was a lovely hotel and worth every penny. I live close by in jersey but I wanted to have a night with my boyfriend in the city, out of all the bars we went to we decided we liked the hotel bar the best! it was very nice and the service was great. The free snacks were a plus and helped us not get cranky before we went to dinner :-) . The bathtub and rain shower were amazing..loved that it had that big window and you could see into the room! so modern so awesome. Also the check in/ check out was so easy and quick..we will def be going back!

The Andaz (a Hyatt property) is a great hotel on the corner of Wall Street & Water in the Financial District, just a block up from Pier 11.

The hotel itself is pretty modern, which may not suit everyone's tastes, but everyone there is really friendly.  Check-in was a breeze - a non-descript staff member will approach you with a tablet computer and check you in, swipe your credit card, and give you your room keys.  We were asked if we wanted a drink while they checked us in, so we asked for two coffees - within a couple of minutes, someone came over with a tray with two Americanos, cream and sugar.  We were told that there was a free happy hour with snacks and wine from 6-8pm everyday in the lobby.

The room was sleek, but comfortable - 50" HDTV, iPod stereo, shower with rain shower head, safe, mini-bar with free snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and free wireless internet.  The european-style bed was comfortable, although some people may prefer more pillows (I'm sure they could be requested).  By NYC standards, they are pretty large rooms, complete with a workstation, two chairs, and even cushions on the ledge below the window.

I really can't say enough about this hotel - it took me by surprise.  You don't get much for free these days (even if you're already paying good money to stay there), but it's nice to be able to check in, walk into your room, grab a bag of chips and a bottle of green tea and know you didn't just waste another $12 because you're starving.

The M15 bus stop is just across the street - Chinatown is a ten minute bus ride, and the 4-5 is just a few blocks up the street.  The dining options aren't particularly great in the area, but there are lots of options 15 minutes away on the subway.

Highly recommended.  I will definitely be staying at this hotel in the future.

I thought staying in NYC, I'd want to stay in the middle of it all - in Times Square.  A co-worker had decided to get this hotel and we ended up crashing it for two nights from 5/6 to 5/8.  Many of the businesses close early around this hotel taking into consideration it is in the financial district, but that was okay with me.  It's more towards the end of NY too but that was fine with me too since I enjoy walking.

I think the rooms itself was moderate, but the best part of it all was definitely the restroom!  I enjoyed the fact that the rooms come equipped with compact refrigerators and they put drinks in them for you! The hotel also offers free wi-fi fyi.

The boyfriend and I decided to hit up the breakfast nook they had for guest before leaving.  They brew some amazing coffee with the espresso machine, orange juice is freshly squeezed, and they had the most amazing cookies and sweetened walnuts!

I don't think the pictures that are posted on here do the hotel justice, when I find some time I'll be sure to upload some more!

    Wow.

I travel extensively and stay at a bzillion hotels (even internationally) and this spot just made my top 5.

If you want to impress your significant other and have a romantic evening, make this place your end-of-eve destination.

Boutique yet spacious (oxymoronic) uber-modern rooms, a shower that fits 4 , remote-controlled curtains.....

...and a fridge stocked with goodies that's free...free wine and all kinds of free eats in the lounge...

lots of attractive and helpful reception peeps.

    Again.  Wow.

I wish that I lived in the room I stayed in (large king). I give this place 4.7 stars, but there's no tenth-of-a-star option on Yelp.

5 out of 5 on the layout, design and overall comfort.
5 out of 5 on service, friendliness of the staff.
4.5 out of 5 on price - things could always be cheaper in my world, but this was a very good deal. This is not a "budget hotel," just FYI.

The building and rooms are beautiful. Like I said, I wish I lived here. Amenities are superb. The bed wasn't as comfortable as the Starwood brand's (W, Westin, etc.), but still very comfortable. The only negative was the TV System - while well intended with music, 'ambiance slideshows,' checkout and ordering, mine was slow to respond to the remote and even completely froze.

Not good for kids. Also not good for those who need intuitive living space (closing the shades, turning on lights, finding things take an extra moment of thought).

Great hotel! Innovative room decor. Love the massive shower and free mini bar. Complimentary cocktail hour is a plus. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating.

Spa offers typical treatments, however is not a luxury spa (no jacuzzi, steam room, shower, etc). Salon services must be made in advance and outside stylists will try to accommodate your beautification needs.

Highly recommend this hotel for those who do business in the financial district or visiting from out of town.

Usually I crash on people's couches when I come to New York, but the weekend before Christmas I thought I'd splurge for a wedding I was attending.

Woo hoo, this place is swanky! For under $200, you can really live it up.  I could pretend I was a rich mogul living in luxury.

Although there isn't a lot going in in Wall Street, it was a quick ride from the bus terminal, and very close to the subway.  I felt safe in the neighborhood.

The rooms are very large for New York standards. Easily fit a king size bed. And the shower, my god, it was almost as a big as my entire bathroom back home. I literally took 4 showers in 2 days because the shower was that nice!

I loved the window seat; looking into people's apartments is a New York past time isn't it?  The free snacks and drinks were great. Free wi-fi was reliable. I loved the on staff barista who was there for coffee, tea, espresso, hot chocolate at all time.

I really didn't want to check out of this place.

    A few tiny negatives:
I hated the pillows. They were way too squishy and I needed to double them both up to sleep comfortably. I learned later I could have called to change them out for memory foam ones!

The staff were mostly helpful. I had asked how much it might cost for a cab ride to the Brooklyn  Botanic Garden (which seemed like a pretty famous place). She tried to look it up on her netbook but couldn't find it.  Hey guess what, I can use Google Maps too! Nobody there to hail a cab for you, but that is the worst I can say.

I loved it, would recommend it,and can't wait to stay again.

So i have stayed here on 2 occasions and wow.

The lobby is beautiful, but the rooms are insane.

First and foremost- i must warn you- if you plan to stay in the King Deluxe (which i totally recommend), please make sure it is with someone that you want to see or wants to see you butt naked. Why do you ask? The only thing between your shower and bathtub and the person on the bed is a glass window, a big one. The door that leads into the shower and bath is also made of glass- there's no hiding!! Thankfully, there is a separate little room where the toilet bowl is, and the door is not too see through.

There is also a nice space to setup your toiletries by the sink. Another word of advice- the way the tiles are in the shower - it's somewhat on a slant so you might want to roll up a towel and keep it outside the shower door to prevent the wood floor from getting soaked.

There is a rotating armoire with a full length mirror on it near the sink with a bathrobe and slippers. There are also, free, yes i said free, snacks, 2 bags of terra chips, an organic chocolate bar and a cliff bar. There are also free non-alcoholic drinks in the mini-fridge. There's a big flat screen tv, a comfortable chair and a window seat. The bed is super comfy and they have blackout shades that are controlled by a button on the wall (i couldn't get over this feature, i played with it for a while =0) ). The lights are also controlled by buttons on the wall- each with a different theme, relax, welcome, etc. There is also a nice clock radio, which has really nice sound and a dock for your i-pod.

The Standard King- which i booked by accident my last stay and decided to upgrade to the Deluxe, is smaller and does not have a bathtub. The window by the shower is also a lot smaller so you have some more privacy. Other than that- it is pretty similar.

The room service: The staff is AWESOME, they are such nice people and they are very, very fast in bringing your order. The food, ehhh, It is a little too complicated for my taste and it's pretty expensive. But... the burger and fries are good, as well as the Belgian Waffle. The Caesar Salad has anchovies, which i found out the hard way because they aren't listed on the menu, so if you hate them as much as i do, ask for it without them.

I did try out the gym, nice new, clean equipment. Free weights, stability balls, cardio machines, some back and chest machines also.

Last but definitely not least- my first stay i asked the front desk what time checkout was, he told me 12 but you can stay until 1. My most recent stay, i asked if we could stay until 1 again- he gave me 2pm, free of charge!! Awesome.

    Love, loveeee this place

Andaz is Hyatt's belated answer to Starwood's W Hotel.  Yours truly has never been a huge fan of W's. But I do like Andaz, finding it 2b mostly exceptional.  Tho sometimes disappointing.

    Wow:
-all that stuff in your room's wet bar--the sodas, nantuket nectars, saratoga h2o, candy, cookies, chips are free, gratis!  Only pay for the alcohol you drink.
-extremely comfortabe lobby to lounge around, with a "communal table" that's stocked with free stuff all day; from espesso and muffins in mornin' to vino in eve.
    -very friendly and helpful staff
    -excellent guest room radio
-fine quality room furnishings from uber modern bathroom fixtures, to lighting (central console lets you choose your mood: work, relax, nightlight, etc.) to platform beds

    Cool:
    -free wifi
-larger than average nyc guest rooms with huge room windows.
-RFID room keys (not those ubiquious magnatic room cards that are erased by your cell phone)
-quality guest room hardwood floor with large area rug.
-bath with great soaps, lotions and q-tips. Yes, q-tips!

    Not so wow or cool:
-50' plasma tv in guest room without hdtv. wtf?  Watching fuzzy SDTV on a huge screen is sooo 1980's.
    -painfully slow wifi
-only guest room furniture is desk chair and large window sills.
-hot (as in not-air-conditioned) hallways completely absent of furniture.

What a delightful oasis for this native New Yorker! As a mini honeymoon, we booked rooms for ourselves and my in-laws after getting hitched at City Hall (thank you!).

The deluxe king room we were upgraded to was perfect for newlyweds because of the super fun shower/tub room. Yes, there is about a foot high glass partition above the tub that allows you to look out into the room... and allows you to control the cool little ipod radio box with your remote control while you're in the tub. Just don't get the remote wet. Note, it will take at least half an hour to fill the tub for a bath. There is no way to control to pressure of the tub's one faucet, you can only control the temperature. A few feet over in the shower section, the overhead rainfall type shower head will make you want to stay wet forever.

The room was fairly clean although there were black stains at the foot of the white comforter. I used to travel so much I brought my own sheets with me. And given the current bed bug epidemic, everyone should scrutinize hotel rooms but no worries, no bedbugs at the Andaz Wall Street.

As described by other yelpers, the well-stocked mini-fridge and free sweet and salty snacks (terra chips, cliff bar and dagoba organic chocolate bar) were awesome treats. The best treats however were in the lobby. What can be better than free munchies all day long at a hotel? From breakfast muffins and orange juice to delicious iced tea and cookies to WINE, the lobby was like grabbing a snack from your kitchen on your way in and out of home. Only tastier.

The gym was a decent size, nothing spectacular but better than most hotel gyms.

One note- my husband spotted a tall Gossip Girl in the lobby the first night. I'll not name names, but only mention because I know some people like that sort of thing.

The hotel bar is also interesting. We invited a few friends to celebrate our nuptials with us and we closed it down. Not because I'm the sort to party with my friends all night long after just getting married, but because they close at midnight. Just as well, we had other things to do but unless the noise reaches guest rooms, psst, stay open past midnight if you really want to make Bar 75 a "spot"!

This was the perfect base to explore the ill-frequented southern tip of the island. The Andaz is within walking distance to everything south of Chambers Street- or further if you like walking- which includes historical Wall Street buildings, ferry terminal to Governor's Island and Staten Island, touristy South Street Seaport and shopping meccas Century 21 and J&R.

Two glitches in service during my stay. One: it took two phone calls and forty minutes to bring me extra CO Bigelow body wash and shampoo. BUT, when they finally arrived, they had a full bag of random toiletries for me beyond the requested body wash and shampoo. Sweet. Second: I felt like I had to talk to every employee on duty about a reservation change before finally the fourth and fifth persons were able to sort it all out for me. In general the staff was very nice but it was clear some were new to the hospitality business.

    Excellent experience, will definitely revisit.

My first impression of Andaz could be summarized in one character. W. The style and ambiance have striking resemblance to the better known W Hotel chain - Trendy style luxury with a twist of modern simplicity. The interior design of the hotel rooms is superior though. While some of the elements might be a bit unconventional, most work together in elegance. I like the revolving closet, mirror and cabinet unit. The bathroom design was daring. I spent a good 10 minutes looking for some sort of curtain to cover the window to the bedroom only to realize there are really none. If you are sharing room with a companion other than your significant half, do keep this in mind. The bed is quite comfortable but they could really do better with the pillows. The bathroom sink is one thing I do not like. It looks stylish but is too shallow and kinda obstructive. Too easy to get water all over the place. The hairdryer is another thing I dislike. Had anyone actually tried using it to dry their hair? If you have long thick hair be prepared to sit there for half an hour or more. It has almost no power to it. They could also use some better lights for ladies' makeup need. Some makeup lights behind the TV mirror would be supreme. I certainly feel Andaz is tailored more towards male travelers.

Free non alcoholic drinks and snacks are a nice touch. Made to order coffee at the lobby is of fairly good quality but I do miss having a simple coffee maker in the room. There are times I just want a good cup of coffee with me while I work on my morning routine. There are also introverts who prefer to keep human interaction to minimal.

Andaz is a hotel I would not mind staying again. It is not quite my kind of luxury. For business travelers and younger couples, this place is perfect.

Located at the intersection of old world New York and modern Manhattan (specifically Wall and Water St...), this boutique-like hotel has all the comforts of home without sacrificing any style for substance.

I've stayed in quite a few hotels in my life and when I was looking into a place to stay while in town for my high school reunion I had a laundry list of items that I wanted: accessible location, good value, modern/clean rooms, room service, and a soaking tub. (You know, the usual...)

Alas, the weekend I was aiming for was also the weekend that every hotel in town where I would have normally stayed at was booked solid or exorbitantly priced. I did my "homework" and the Andaz Wall Street kept popping up as the cheapest and most popular choice on everything from Yelp to Trip Advisor.

I was definitely skeptical about the location, but for the price ($250/night) it was the best/cheapest option for us.

Thank the hotel gods, because it was such an awesome experience.

    Location:
Even with the subway construction going on, effectively cutting out the green line as a transportation option, we still had two other lines within easy walking distance to choose from. It was fairly easy to hunt down a cab (though one negative point is that there is no one to help you do that at the hotel, you need to fight other hotel guests for free cabs).

The neighborhood is a mix of hordes of tourists, bankers, and locals. The weekends are quiet, but the architecture is ripped straight out of 19th century NY. :o)

Be warned that this area dies down after the work week and many of the loca shops and restaurants cater to the 9-5 crowd only. A few notable landmarks nearby: Stock Exchange, Museum of Finance, WTC Memorial, Trinity Church, Century 21 department store, South Street Seaport, Delmonico's, Bowling Green, TKTS, etc.

    The room:
It was large by NYC standards. It was clean and fairly minimalist. The bed was firm and the pillows soft. Nice large HD flatscreen.  + Ipod Dock/Radio. There was a nice large window seat, but only a view of the building next door. :o( The blackout curtains were not really TRUE blackout curtains, but did the job. Everything is automated and right by the bed, though the lighting in the room is pretty dim. Sexy lighting is not so great for a woman trying to put on makeup.  Free wifi. You can eat/drink anything in the mini bar (except for the alcohol) and they will refill it for you if you ask. The shower is huge  with a rainfall head + bench. (I did not splurge for the XL King which had the soaking tub.) The CO Bigelow products were a nice touch.

    The hotel:
Reception is pretty informal. A bunch of young pretty things checking you in on ipads and laptops. Everyone seems to wear multiple hats (concierge, check in, bell hop, etc) and they hand out business cards with their cell phones for you to contact them with questions. It does lead to a little more chaos than usual since there are no real lines and sometimes its hard to tell who works there and who is just staying at the hotel. They are all very nice and helpful, so that is always worth the wait. There are free refreshments and snacks as well as an area to pick up other items for sale. They have a barista during the day preparing free coffee/tea (made to order). There is also a happy hour for guests at night which seemed pretty bumping when I passed through on my way out. The spa is pretty small and by appointment only, but you can get "express" services for a reasonable rate. Bar and restaurant on site as well as a fitness room, are nice/typical additions. All in all, a beautiful hotel with plenty of nice "surprises."

Price: I grew up in NYC and now live in SF, so my brain is totally messed up in terms of what is expensive and what is not, but I thought $250 was a pretty good price. The location made me wish it were cheaper, but all of the extras makes me okay on the price. When we checked back on prices before we left it looked like it had gone up to 300-400 dollars a night, which I'm not sure is ever worth it unless you're staying at a resort...but that's me.

I will definitely be adding Andaz to my list of go to hotels to check when I'm traveling next.

    Thanks, Andaz staff!

This place is way too cool for me, but if I have to...

The decor is super chic, from the rooms to the conference areas. And high tech--I  needed an orientation on how my room "worked".

The service was spectacular and they had every amenity possible--free snacks, unlimited movies, even departure gifts. Anyone who knows me understands free swag is the way straight to my heart.

One caveat--they need a bigger sign! The hotel is on 5th Avenue across from the New York Public Library...but good luck getting a cab driver to find it!

I would definitely stay here again. Love!

Stayed here for 3 nights this weekend using my NBT nights. Loved this hotel! Wasn't necessariliy that big of a lobby downstairs, but the entrance was sort of similar to the West Hollywood property, except with a more business/office-look to it, whereas the WeHo Andaz seemed more chic.

The wall & water restaurant looked beautiful- didn't get a chance to eat there though, I opted to have in-room breakfast brought in each morning. I was given $50 credit per night, which was enough for 2 meals, a side dish, and juice/coffee. The food was oustanding. Reminded me of Charlie Palmer breakfast from the Joule. The coffee was really good too. The food was brought in on a table stand that looked like it came from Room & Board, and the server's who brought in the food were young and dressed up. Overall the food service was excellent.

The rooms look very much like the pictures on the website. It's all the little things that the Andaz add to their rooms that give them the extra edge IMO. For instance, the generous offerings of juices/candy - the room came stacked with a full fridge (all non-alcoholic beverages were complimentary) which included 4 voss waters (2 still, 2 sparkling), orange juice, organic black tea, 2 diet cokes, 2 regular cokes, and 1 sprite. The fridge was replenished each night. Also, the room had touch-sensored switches and dimmers for all the lights & curtains.

The bathroom was nice. Shower had a rainfall spout from the ceiling with glass doors and black tile. I would say that there was times where water went under the door and got on the floor outside, but it wasn't as bad as some people earlier described. If you put a towel mat outside it didn't really get all over the place.

The only gripe I have is upon my checkout I was charged for two mysterious service charges. I asked them to explain it to me but they couldn't give me a good detailed response because they said the restaurant procedures are different from the hotel itself. I even made sure that all my checks including tip were under the $50 limit...I'm still not sure what exactly I was charged for, but the pain is not worth the headache...it was a few bucks. Just a best practice...I would advise if you order room service to check what charges are getting placed on your account before you do so. Learning from my own mistakes

Overall I was very pleased with the hotel. The people who work there were oustanding and very friendly!

Wow experience!  Large room, clean clean clean, and impeccable service.  The bathroom was huge and the amenities notable.  The lobby is hip and happening, but your room is a soothing oasis.  And, what hotel let's you drink the bottled water and eat the snacks for free in your room?  Staff demonstrates an ownership of their service as if it is their own hotel. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria immediately afterward and we were disappointed.  We missed Carlos, the wonderful barista in the Andaz lobby, who made our espressos (again, for free).

Our visit was a pleasure from start to finish.  Beginning with Amy, our host at Check-in AND Check-out who epitomized service perfection.  Our room was not quite ready, so Amy ordered us a round of coffee and tea to enjoy while we completed the formalities of check-in.  Once the room was available, she personally escorted us to the room, executed a tour of the various in-room amenities, ensured we were properly stocked for the night, and bid us adieu.

One word that continuously passed from her lips was "free".  Free wireless Internet, free snacks and non-alcoholic beverages from the mini bar, free snacks and such in the lobby, and the list goes on.  One thing I recognize as a frequent traveller is the propensity of higher-end hotels to "nickel and dime" one on the various components of each stay.  So strange when lower-end hotels include so many of these same "free" items.  My preference, pad the room rate and make it work on the back-end of the accounting.  Free = Good Vibes.  Good Vibes + Good Service = Repeat Customers.

On the hardware side, we fit two couples into an Andaz Double - one of their smallest rooms - with no problems.  There was plenty of room for people and luggage.  The bathroom was a marvel of black granite.  Toiletries by C.O. Bigelow.  Three areas of improvement for the loo.  First, more light directed at the face.  It was hard to see myself in the vanity mirror.  Second, a hook or two.  Third, a touch more counter space.  Common areas of the hotel were cozy, stylish, and well appointed.

The only negative for our entire stay was related to the location.  While the Andaz is only two blocks from a 24-hour 2+3 station, there is very little else in the neighborhood after dark.  Wall Street, as evil as it may be, does all of its work in the light of day, Monday through Friday.  Off hours, you might be surprised just how deserted this corner of Manhattan can become.

For the price, the Andaz is a luxurious bargain at the moment.  Go now.

I had the pleasure to stay at the Andaz during its opening weekend. It was slightly eerie to be in a hotel that clearly was not fully committed -- in fact, i think they only had a few floors open. But the experience itself was AMAZING.

Andaz is Hyatt's new hotel concept that will do definite damage to Starwood's W chain, particularly as the W brand becomes ubiquitous and Andaz can remain boutique. The name itself comes from an Urdu word that means "style." The Andaz "host" who checked me in paraphrased it to "personal style," which meant that my hotel experience could be customized to my personal style. And that each property was designed uniquely to fit into its geographic environs: the Wall Street property had art throughout the hotel that subtly referred to its home in the world's financial center.

The 'personal style' thing seems to be a slightly haughty goal, but more power to them. The check-in process was interesting-- i was greeted as i walked through the doors and asked whether i wanted a drink from the lobby's free espresso bar. Drink in hand and a cookie from the communal cookie jar, I was led to a couch where my host checked me in on a handheld computer . When I asked for the usual upgrade I get for being a 'platinum' member of Hyatt's loyalty program, that required utilizing the laptops at the ostensible front desk. But the upgrade was quickly approved and I was soon on my way up to my deluxe room, which features the awesome "spinning closet."

The room itself was beautifully apportioned, the quality of the interior decor and furnishings was high, and (not?) surprisingly, everything worked exactly as promised.

Let's start with the bed --a nicely firm, kingsize platform bed with very comfortable pillows. The linens were crisp, and perhaps a little rough from not being washed enough times. But provided me with comfortable sleep both nights.

The workdesk/dresser/TV table has what I believe is an Andaz feature (similar to the front 'desk'): you could walk around everything, so instead of things pushed up against walls, everything sort of floated in the room. It would allow two people to sit facing each other while working, for instance.

The shower room featured high quality bath products and a most-awesome rain shower that free-flowed into the space that it also shared with a soaking tub.

The entire room's lighting scheme was controlled by wall mounted panels that allowed for "all on," "all off," relaxation" or "work" settings of different brightness degrees. It made it very easy to go to sleep, but also to make sure in green fashion that all lights were off when i left the room. My only complaint was that I could not control the climate in the room with an "auto" setting -- the fan had only three speeds that i could tell, plus off. Even though it was a cold weekend in NYC, I was actually very comfortable to leave it off the whole time -- a very nice nod to the construction of the hotel... good insulation.

One of the best features of the room is the free minibar that included non-alcoholic soft drinks, juices, a full supply of still and sparkling water, along with Terra snacks, Dagoba chocolate and Clif bars. Really classy. And it was refilled each day.

And, no surprise, free wireless internet throughout the hotel.

I really look forward to checking out the two other Andaz properties: the former Rock n Roll Hyatt on Sunset Blvd. in LA and one in London. And any of the stiffness and occasional overdone hospitality that I encountered on my stay, I'm sure will be worked out as the staff actually has a complement of guests to service in the coming weeks and months.

(note: my 'pricey' comment below is for leisure out-of-towners. prices seem very much in line with the rest of New York mid-level chains, and actually below some of the boutique hotels it competes with)
