For authentic Thai food in a coastal town, this is amazing.
A really wide menu with just about everything on it. I ordered the fresh rolls and larb chicken, expecting something warm and served with rice. I was pleasantly surprised.
Surprisingly, the larb chicken was served cold, on lettuces, and with a sweet dressing. Never having eaten it before this way, I was pleasantly surprised. Amazingly fresh, even with raw cabbage.
The fresh rolls were beautiful and tasty! The peanut sauce was smooth and tangy.
Four stars because for what I received, I would have paid half that in Portland for twice as much. Also, there was only one person working that day. I was there for almost 1.5 hours. Glad I was on vacation and not rushed. The owner also makes wonderful accomodations for gluten free and lo-carb diets. The place was very peaceful, nice relaxing music, and a caring owner who is meticulous about her food. Thai. Served the way it should be. What more could you ask for?
For fresh, flavorful Thai, a privately owned restaurant, this is a great choice.
Their hours are not on their website. They usually close around 9. -

Came here for dinner while staying at Surftides for a couple nights. It was about 30 minutes before closing, so we felt bad and took our order to go.
The cashier/waitress was very very nice, even with the minor language barrier. I was starving! So I got 1 1/2 orders of Pad See-Ew, and my girlfriend got the Tom Yum soup with a side of rice.
We got to our room and opened the plastic bag to reveal our food, and smelled so amazing. The taste was a LITTLE bland and flavorless.. but it was still very very delicious. My girlfriend insists that Andaman's makes the BEST Tom Yum soup she has ever eaten.
This place is a very good location to eat at if you're in the area! -

I came here the second night I was staying at Lincoln city. I'm so glad I did! I went with my boyfriend and we ordered the crispy pad Thai, pineapple fried rice, Thai iced tea, and the iced coffee. I rarely drink coffee and it's not my drink of choice but after I took a sip of it, I immediately fell in love with it. It's hands down the best coffee I've had. It's so creamy and delicious. I just want to come back so I can drink that iced coffee again. The crispy pad Thai wasn't what I thought it was. However, it's unique and my boyfriend enjoyed it. I loved the pineapple fried rice. The pineapple fried rice is served in a pineapple. It can't get better than that! If I am in the area, I will definelty plan to stop by there!

Okay, so we came to the coast and read the reviews for this place, tried it out, we were blown away by the Andaman Pad Thai (even though It was so slow)...that was a month and a half ago. We are here at the coast again and are back for the Pad Thai. But the wait is so freakin long, and the waiter is so weird, that it's affecting their business. This place charges above average price for great food but I don't think it's worth the wait. It's apparent because this place barely has any customers while the Chinese joint down the street that serves mediocre cheap food is poppin with customers lining outside the door. It proves that people would rather eat cheap cuisine that comes out fast rather than wait forever for great food. Take note Andaman, Lee's Chinese is kicking your ass.
I know it takes so long due to the fact that there is one tiny little Asian lady who meticulously makes everything to perfection, but come on!! - why don't you teach an apprentice your cooking secrets so that things will speed up!!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Every review we read said the service was slow, but food great. The service was painfully slow and we were the only table in the restaurant! Just weirdness all around with the owner greeting, cooking, serving - but she doesn't have the hospitality know-how. Then another staff member emerged from the kitchen once more tables started coming in. They would leave people standing at the front for 10 minutes waiting to be greeted, or to even serve water. The very basic service is missed here, and the food was good, not amazing, and you're so wrapped up in how long it takes and how clueless they are, that it doesn't matter - we won't go back.

I am on a strict diet, primarily gluten free. The owner/chef/hostess was so accommodating, so friendly and the food was absolutely sensational!! I would eat here again and again. As everyone says, the service is a bit slow.

Somewhat tasty, flavors are good. Very relaxed. Food was creatively made and presented. Many items were out of stock, however owner/chef talked us through what was available. Overall I was looking forward to the coconut seafood with crab legs, which they offered without the coconut or the crab legs...the green curry is pretty spicy even on mild. The items we were served appeared to have been previously frozen. I was hoping for a better experience for the premium price. This is by far the most expensive place we have been in Lincoln City. The time was nearly 3 hours from entrance to exit...of that we were actively eating for just under an hour. There were 3 tables of people seated when we arrived, and when we left, one other table had people seated. Wait time for seating was about 15 minutes with no one in front of us and tables available.

I only got take out from Andaman Thai but loved, loved, loved my veggie stir fry with tofu. The owner was very careful to ask about what ingredients I wanted in the dish (I am vegetarian) and she prepared my meal herself. Ingredients were all fresh and prepared without heavy sauces. Would highly recommend this place if you are in Lincoln City.

Based on reviews here on Yelp we (4 of us) decided to give Andaman Thai Cuisine a try. The first comment from the peanut gallery in the car should have been our tip-off, "There aren't many cars here". And that was 7:30 PM on Saturday night.
We were greeted by a pleasant girl who seated us in the sparsely populated dining area and offered us water while we browsed the menu, which seemed to have a nice variety of offerings. Some of the menu names seemed a little unfamiliar but similar to what we have become accustomed to seeing in Thai restaurants. While we were reading the menu the hostess approached the table and asked if we could give up a couple of our menus since, as she explained, they were "short" on menus that night.
I asked about one of the drink selections and the hostess said she wasn't really sure since it was her 2nd night working. The waiter was summoned to answer the question and another worker came over and the three of them deliberated about how to explain the drink, which seemed like a fantastic overkill to the simplicity of the question.
While we were continuing to read the 2 menus left at the table, the people that had come in behind us moved to a different table. Within a few minutes, apparently for not receiving any attention from the wait staff, they got up and left.
The waiter took our order but seemed a little unsure of how to be a waiter. We all noticed something about the place was "off" but because the reviews from before were so glowing we paid little attention.
I received my drink, a Pomegranate Ginger tea, which tasted like a weak cranberry juice with a candied ginger slice - pretty pedestrian for a $4.50 drink. It was another 5-10 minutes before the other drink was served.
A common response from the waiter as we announced our selections was "we just ran out of that." Note: all the prices were about $3-5 more than what we're used to.
While we were waiting for our food an older couple that had been seated for quite a while got up and left.
When the food showed up it was beautifully presented. The waiter, chef, hostess and the other staff member all participated in serving the food, which we thought was a little strange since it appeared a little "desperate" in a way that I can't quite explain.
All the dishes were seasoned and the flavor was average. But that is where the praise ends. Each of the 4 dishes we ordered were spare in portion size, tepid on the surface and cool in the middle. The chicken was tough, the pork tasted "metallic" the beef was dry, stringy and cold throughout. One of my dining companions compared the beef to cold, left over, overcooked pot roast. You know, that dry texture that requires some kind of liquid to swallow. The curry sauce was obviously just a peanut sauce with some curry added. The shrimp dish had exactly 4 tiny shrimp - one for each of us. It was more than apparent that the food was re-heated and refreshed (unsuccessfully) to be served to us.
While we were first tasting our food another couple got up and left.
When asked how the meal was, I said, "It's OK, but it's cold inside and only warm on the surface. The waiter seemed to think we were talking about the level of spiciness, but I clarified that I was talking about the temperature of the food. I said the flavor was good, but that the coolness of the food was unexpected. He didn't seem to know how to respond and offered to take it back and re-heat it. Overall the quantity and quality of food for over $80 for 4 people was extremely expensive.
If I were to sum up the meal I would say that it was "Well-presented Leftovers." I would NOT recommend this place, nor return. -

Lincoln City, OR
I have been here twice so far and both times were a positive experience. The food was very flavorful, the menu offered a great variety, and they were very friendly. The only problem I had was the wait time for my food after I ordered. It seemed to take an unusually long time to get my food, which is odd given the fact that both times I was in there it was almost empty. However, this problem is only minor and worth looking past since both times I had a very satisfying meal.

I discovered this restaurant a few years ago by accident. It looked interesting, and we stopped in to try it out. It was great, and we look forward to returning many times when we're back out at the coast. I've had a number of good dishes there, and the quality has been consistent. I'm particularly fond of the pineapple fried rice.
Definitely check it out! The wait for the food is worth it as some of the other reviewers say. I haven't experienced any rude service during any of my visits, and while the food may be a little slow coming to the table, the quality makes it worth the pace. -

We understood going in here that there may be a long wait for our food. This being the case, we were very patient waiting for this delicious food. The chef came and took our order and was very kind. She now has some help in the kitchen and that should be pleasing to those who complain about the wait time. The Tom Kha soup had quite an assortment of mushrooms and was very flavorful. We tried something new to us - Crispy Pad Thai noodles. It was uniquely flavorful and interesting to the palette. The pork Curry was - about average. We left here pleased with our decision to try it out. One last note - My wife ordered a Thai latte to drink and she said it was very good. If you like Thai - go and try them out. Variety is the spice of life.

A great way to end a visit in Lincoln City. This is exactly what a friend and I did after spending the weekend in this coastal town. It's one of two Thai restaurants in Lincoln City and locals love both, but this one actively claims to be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free friendly, so my friend and I went here. We decided to split some dishes so we could have as much variety as possible. This is what we ended up with for our late lunch.
* Appetizer: Salad wraps with peanut sauce
* Main Dishes: Yellow Curry and Tom Kha soup, both with Tofu
* Accompaniment: Brown rice, white rice and lentils molded into a layered heart shape.
* Dessert: Pomegranate tapioca pudding topped with warmed coconut milk.
All vegan, all delicious! Total bill came to $30 and every bite was so satisfying and flavorful, I will make a point to eat here every time I am in Lincoln City. -

Hunting for treasure on the coast? . . .Well gents and ladies, I think we've found it here!!!
Every aspect of this restaurant is a new experience waiting to happen.
There are a few rules to mind upon entering.
A) Be ready for the energy if the wife is there!!!
B) Don't be in a rush
C) Be daring. Try something new!!!
Find yourself seated in a cozy corner of this dining room. With the bamboo dining sets and a switch on fire place you can't help but let the charm woo you. As you stay seated, you sit back to relax and start enjoying the authentic artwork. Don't be fooled. Those black cut outs of elephants and dragons are made from real leather. Enjoy a sip of your fresh lime water. The rich colors on the wall and the large variety of house plants help your mind settle a little further into relaxation......until...
......."OOoooooooooo do IIIIII have a DESERT for YOU!!!!!!" This wonderful older lady comes running out ready to make your meal one of the greatest you've ever had. If you're open for a conversation, she is never too busy to pass it up. She will even help you select your favorite flavor of loose leaf tea and serve it up in a beautiful iron cast pot.
On this trip I had a pomegranite tapioca with a dob of coconut cream and mint, with a berry sauce drizzled on the plate. It was heavenly and unlike any dessert I've had before.
Ever since I first stepped foot in this place I knew I would never again come to Lincoln city without stopping here!!! Its worth the trip alone!!! -

What a nice find. There was a group of 4 of us going to celebrate my birthday for dinner. We stopped at a "popular" seafood place across the street on Saturday night to find well basically no waitress for over 10 minutes. A pile of people waiting and the sweet aroma of cigarette smoke...blek. Anyway, so we bailed and went to Kyllos. It was also packed, so we headed back down 101. We swung into Andaman Thai and there was no wait at all. The place was mostly empty and the friendly wait staff seated us right away.
The atmosphere is simple, but the food is well priced and high quality. I wouldn't think it's a very romantic place to go, but would be great to go with friends or the family for good food.
The owner has a solid culinary training and she came out and took our order and gave us many recommendations. She was very friendly, funny, and made it a nice experience. The water boy was also very nice and prompt, almost too prompt. I've never had so much water refilled so often in my life. I guess they expect the food to be spicy!
I ordered the pineaple dish, which was very good. It's also quite a good show, as you get a 1/2 pineapple with chicken and rice and yummy goodness. A lot of people will notice it when it is brought out. Very filling and worth every penny. We had some spring rollls for appetizers that were also tasty.
Everyone in the party enjoyed their dishes and the price was very reasonable. I think it was around $12/person. If you are looking for good thai in Lincoln City at a reasonable price, then this is the place to go. -

I cried, literally, when Red Thai Room in Silverton, OR closed. Some time later, I've found something which soothes my pain just a wee bit.
We visited Andaman Thai Cuisine while having a little afternoon/evening at the coast.
Aron and Val had dined there before, and had good things to say. (The reviews found online at Tripadvisor are all over the place, though.) The location is a bit lackluster; it's in a little strip mall like building right next to a do-it-yourself car wash and a Burger King. The inside is welcoming and bright, however. There are a few unique details, but there's a few things that are really dissonant, too, such as an empty dessert case that looks right out of Denny's, and the ajoining space, which used to be Tigerlily Tea and Dessert Bar, is being reworked in concept. But... it is the off season still. The seating was comfortable.
We were seated by a tall older gentleman who appeared to be the co-owner and husband of the chef. We were poured water with a slight lime infusion; just one small detail that suggested more was to come.
I'll be blunt: service was slow. We were one of only three tables in the place at dinner hour mid-week, our four top sharing the space with a couple and a single. We waited just a bit too long at each interval, went without water for some time, etc.
For appetizers, we ordered the Appetizer Sampler (fried tofu, salad rolls, stuffed wontons and spring rolls served with peanut sauce and plum sauce) and all pieces were beautiful and tasty. We also had to try Oh My God (yes, the dish was called "Oh My God") and boy, am I glad we did. It's a luscious crispy roll of crab, cream cheese and other tidbits that is served atop a spicy chili based sauce, served flambe. Beautiful presentation, and scrumptious flavors.
Entrees are generous portions for one (not the large 2-3 serving family style plates you get at some Thai places) and range from $11-$23. We ordered Sweet and Spicy Basil Fried Rice, Grilled Prawns, Crispy Pad Thai, and Thai Grilled Seafood Curry.
All dishes were served fresh and hot, spiced appropriately as we had ordered. Presentation was fantastic, with different colored/shaped plates for each dish. The rice for dishes that included it came as a mix of brown and white rices, layered on top of one another and moulded into the shape of a heart.
The elements of each dish were fresh and quality. Tastes and textures were well balanced. The big hits were the Crispy Pad Thai and the Thai Grilled Seafood Curry. The former comes out as a big billowing nest of crispy noodles. It appears difficult to approach at first, but you just start to crunch the noddles and mix it up; you'll find the red curry and goodies at the center, plentiful enough to coat all the noodles generously. The flavors are excellent, accented by small slivers of onion tops and sweet red pepper. Yum yum yum.
Thai Grilled Seafood Curry is a real show stopper: a lovely green curry with a mix of seafood surrounds a fresh coconut filled crab legs and mussels, full of soft, sweet coconut meat to scoop out and eat.
Our server was pleasant and helpful, but slow and disorganized; he strikes me as a stand in, not a professional server. Again, it's the off season; probably trying to get through the lean time by doing it all themselves.
They usually have a selection of excellent desserts from Papa Hayden's, but the dessert case was empty. Something about being sold out over Valentine's Weekend, and the son's planned trip back from Portland with the goods not happening. Too bad!
The chef came out and talked to us once as we were eating, and again after we were finished. She's positively delightful, sharing with us ideas for new things, telling us amusing stories about restaurant ownership, etc.
So on the one hand, it wasn't a perfect experience. But... I'm used to the reality of the off season in a strongly seasonal area. The rough edges were well worth the fantastic food, the relaxing evening, and the enjoyment of talking with the owners.
We will return, without a doubt. I'll be looking for the polish on those rough edges, however. -

This is a small, family-run establishment. The wife is the chef, the husband ran the front (albeit slowly at times) and the son helps out here and there. We were seated promptly with menus and waited just a little too long before someone came to take our order.
The drinks arrived quickly, followed by the appetizer. We'd just finished devouring it before the entrees arrived. The food was excellent. I had grilled pork and it was perfectly cooked. The salad greens were lightly dressed and the rice had been molded into a star. The food lived up to the lovely presentation.
We did wait a while for the check, but the chef came out to inquire about our meal and bounce some ideas off us. Talking to her made us forget about the delay; she was friendly and obviously committed to serving the best dishes possible.
The chef's husband took our order and rang us up at the register--these were all times we had to wait. If I had to guess, I'd say he has very little restaurant experience. He was quite absent-minded, or maybe unobservant is a better word. There was a Help Wanted sign in the window, so hopefully they can get some more people on staff.
Andaman has no problems with their food; if you do go, just don't be in a rush. A little patience will be rewarded! -

Impressive Thai food, a long way from home.
I was quite surprised to find this place on par or better with some of my favorite Thai restaurants in NYC. I was vacationing recently in Gleneden Beach with a big group of friends. We ordered take-out one night for about 12 people and it was all absolutely delicious. I had the tofu pad thai (level 4 spicy), the yellow curry (level 3 spicy), dumplings, and other assorted fare. The yellow curry was my favorite: very delicately flavored with a little kick. Also, the spice-levels are definitely true to form. Level 4 (out of 5) is HOT!!
I can't specifically rate the table service, because we did take-out, but the owner was very attentive and accomodating as he assembled our large order. -
Review from Michael M.
Annapolis, MD
My sixth or seventh time to Lincoln City and my fifth or sixth to Andaman last night. Tired. Hungry. Thirsty.
And while I remember fondly the many creative and impressive dishes I have had over the years, I always seem to forget just how terribly unimpressive is the service.
No matter, I thought. A nice glass of pinot noir will take the edge off and I'll wait. And wait I did...for the glass of pinot! More than 25 minutes when the place just wasn't that busy. Again, I assured my increasingly frustrated mind that my palate will be richly rewarded.
So sad to say that I was just wrong. They ran out of their crispy wontons so we received only one order (and I must say these are among the best I've ever eaten anywhere). The spring rolls also were up to their usual excellence...not greasy, with just the right texture.
Unfortunately, none of the entrees worked. My crispy pad thai (a kind-of mee krob version of pad thai) was lumpy and tasteless, with a single shrimp. The chicken fried rice my son had was gooey and tasteless. The prawns were good, though not nearly as delicate as they have been in the past.
Now I know it's the off season and all that, and I do understand just how hard it is for restaurants to make money. That said, you simply cannot have one person--especially a, uh, methodical one--handle the register, the entire floor, the bar and the carry-out. Even if he is the co-owner!
I have often said that excellent service makes up for so-so food...and vice versa. But the food this particular night was average and the service much less so. If last night was any indication, I wouldn't cross it off the list entirely. I'd suggest you bring a light appetite to focus on the appetizers, bring a flask if you hope to have a drink any time soon, and bring the patience of Job. You'll need all three to walk away with satisfied, I'm sorry to say.
Like your first high school lover or your mom's pork chops, some things are best left in the selective retention part of your memory, because when the light of the present day shines, you desperately wish they had remained as memories of yore.
Maybe one of the challenge of great restaurants is/are the high expectations they create from their excellence in the past, because I desperately WANT this place to be great! The owner/chef is a gem and Lincoln City can use a few great eateries...
The libretto? The food has been great in the past and was not last night (save for appetizers). The service has been way below par in the past and it failed to meet even those low expectations last night. And I love the owner and want the restaurant to be as great as it once was. Do with all that as you will! -

Delicious crispy duck with perfectly cooked broccoli and a plate of heart shaped rice. The chef (she trained at a school in Hawaii) served my plate and greeted guests when she had time and her husband is the main waiter in this small family business. The menu had a great selection of traditional and seafood entrees - curries, noodles & stir frys with beautiful specials you can view on their website. Definitely a gem in LC tucked in near the carwash.

I was pleasantly surprised that the food here easily rivals that of good Thai restaurants in LA. It's more of a 4.5 star place than 5.

I thought I had reviewed this already and that this would consequently be a review update. Guess not.
This is really solid Thai food. I guess it helps that the chef is (1) of Thai descent and (2) technically trained. Chef Patana's food reflects both things wonderfully.
Now let's get this out of the way up front: you'll get slow service. It may not even be particularly friendly. But the wait (as the sign in the restaurant says) is definitely worth it. Part of this probably has to do with the fact that there are two employees here: Chef Patana runs the back of the house (incredibly well) and Mr. Kaplan runs the front of the house (host, server, carry-out order person, check casher, etc.). Do not come here if you're in a hurry. Do not come here if you want hovering/super attentive service. You will absolutely be disappointed. However, the food is retarded good. Ms. K. and I have been here several times now and have never been unhappy with the food. The Tom Kha is delicious--creamy, slightly spicy and a little vinegar. The pad thai is very , very good. I actually stopped getting pad thai other places because it is (surprisingly) so easy to screw up. But Chef Patana does it right. The curries are also very good--I'm particularly partial to the yellow curry. The appetizers are all awesome--I think we've tried every one on the menu at some point. They have a pretty decent drink menu (the specialty mojito comes to mind) and a well-thought-out (if small) wine selection.
All in all, this place offers amazing Thai. Just go in knowing what to expect (and with sufficient time), and you're sure to be satisfied. -

This is our favorite restaurant in Lincoln City. We went for lunch this time as they have terrific lunch specials for $7.50. We got there at 11am right when they opened and were greeted and served by owner, Patana Kaplan. My husband and I shared the Tom Kah chicken, coconut soup. It was full of vegetables: onion, baby corn, broccoli, carrots. We ordered all of our dishes med-spicy and that is how they all came out....just the right amount of heat. I had the green chicken curry on white rice. Delicious! My husband ordered the Chicken Pad Kee Mao rice noodle dish. Noodles were the wide flat kind, tender chicken, onion, basil, also delicious. You have to try their special pomegranate Ginger iced tea...home-brewed and very refreshing.

Oh boy. I wanted to love this place. I trusted the Yelpers out there and was disappointed. Hey, it happens. I should have known after the phone call to make reservations. I wanted to make a reservation for 8 for 7pm. The guy said, "well, we're going to be pretty busy at 7, so why don't we do 6:30." HUH? Isn't that why I am making a reservation..in case you are busy?? Somehow after the long and awkward conversation it ended up being 6:45. Can you say slow service? I'm all about hanging out and enjoying conversation and dinner, but this was bbaaaad. We watched about 15 customers walk in...and walk out because he was too dang slow. Didn't even acknowledge them. Has to be the owner b/c there is no way anyone would hire him as a waiter! He was awkward and not personable. Too bad b/c once the food actually got to our table it was pretty decent, but not the best Thai food I've had. Oh well.....at least we tried. But won't be visiting again. The food wasn't good enough to outweigh the awkwardness. If you want to try, go for it. Either call in and take to go, or just plan on no friendly service and waiting a really long time.
