Review from Jackie S.
ALLSTON, MA
I was starving after work and class and stopped in Andalus Pizza and Cafe for a steak and cheese. It was good but for $8.20 I expected more bang for my buck. I got a small steak & cheese with mushrooms and onions (although there weren't that many) and it just wasn't worth that much money. I was almost still hungry afterward. I would go back to try other stuff though because it did taste good and the service was very fast.

Review from Lisa D.
I have to say, it's been hit or miss lately. My previous experiences were as a meat eater and I raved about the buffalo wings and potato skins-- 5 stars for those! My most recent visits have been after I converted to vegetarianism, having tried the pizza and a salad I was disappointed.
I found the pizza to be blah, I cannot explain any other way but to say "blah" or "meh"- just not my thing and that's okay but on my next visit I got a salad and found it to be "skimpy"-- and it didn't even come with a piece of pita, for the price, this salad was not worth the cost.
I have to say the place is clean and the staff is super friendly. This is a great neighborhood spot and def a place I wil continue to try in hopes of finding a "new favorite" meat less favorite.
They have ice cream here and free WiFi-- gotta add a star just for that! -

So, my love for Andalus just keeps growing.
I thought the breakfast sandwiches were good until I met the BBQ Flatbread pizza, aka my new husband. I've ordered him a couple of times just to make sure it wasn't a fluke or something. He is fo' real! He is supposedly 400 calories which i am skeptical about because he is HUGE ifyaknowwhatimean. I can house half of one of these bad boys but the other half comes with me to go.
The first time I ordered the flatbread and payed my $8 i felt like a chump. Since it was advertised as less than 400cals I really thought it was going to be like 4 inches in diameter. When the beast of a pizza was delivered to me, I was really surprised. It's a tortilla'ish crust covered in cheese, bbq sauce, reduced fat cheese, and tomatos. I like adding onions on there too, my husband doesn't seem to mind my breath.
Andalus has free wifi, is right next to Chansky's and a laundromat, is near a gym if your hubby is making you chubby. You should check it out, but you betta step off my man!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Burlington, MA
I remeber when Angora's further up on Comm Ave was a tiny aisle restaurant with plenty of gourmet "college-themed" sandwiches, such as bbq chicken, roasted chicken with pesto and mozzarella, or various hammed-up meats on a crusty toasted baguette dressed with boursin spread. Those were the days of my first loves (bf and food affair).
Now it's a bit generic with huge open, impersonal flooring. A couple of seats along the edge and semi-edible foods, plus a "thumbs down" new bf.
Please bring back my first gourmet love! -

New York, NY
This place is just frustrating. As much as I like their smoothies and frozen yogurt combinations, the service is consistently abysmal and they have one of those awful rulings that in order to use a credit card you must spend 7 dollars. And let me tell you, that is not entirely legal to specify a minimum order to use cards on. When these places sign contracts to use cards from the credit card companies, they stipulate not to run minimum charge requirements.
In terms of the poor service, I often walk up to the counter and the employees carry on with their busywork and conversation as if I'm invisible! They are in their own world. Then once I order it takes several more minutes for anyone to actually start making my smoothie. The one time it was made, but then for several minutes it just sat in the blender before being poured. It's not even that busy (which would explain the odd delays). Its never is all that busy. This is all the more irritating considering the fact that they practically have a troupe of employees working at any given time. I would never bother with them again if it weren't for the fact that I like a few of their offerings. Bah! -

Apart from football games and great friends, etc. etc., Andalus Pizza and Cafe - formerly (and forever) known as Angora to me - has been one of the best parts of attending Boston College for the past four years. If you haven't tried it yet, don't miss out any longer! Here's why:
1. The food is great, and quite inexpensive: you can get a freshly made personal pizza or salad, and top it off with frozen yogurt, for $10-$15 including tax and tip.
2. Free delivery! I am not originally from the Boston area, so the concept of getting any and everything delivered is still new to me. Suffice it to say that between 8 housemates, the Angora delivery guy would make at least one trip a day to our house last year - we felt as if we should send along a change-of-address card when we moved down the road this past fall. They are pretty quick too - we've never had to wait long.
3. It's generally awesome. My personal favorites are the fresh mozzarella and tomato salad with a pesto/vinagrette dressing and frozen yogurt with raspberries and white chocolate chips (though you can order any toppings imaginable). My friends also swear by the barbecue chicken pizza and the veggie burger salad. They have plenty of traditional deli wraps and sandwiches as well. -

Close to the T, close to my apt, not a bad cheese & steak. Lots of FroYo choices.
Convenient, prices are okay, but watch out for the 12-2pm BU/BC crowd that have just woken up and are looking for their first sustenance of the day. -

3/4 times that I've ordered from here I wasn't satisfied. Ordered the steak tip wrap and they sent me a steak sub. Ordered a burger and it tasted like the frozen burgers from BJs. Ordered the veggie burger wrap, which was great but wasn't filling. And ordered the flatbread veggie pizza for the win.
I love their variety but the delivery takes a while (usually 45mins+ to deliver to BC) and I haven't exactly been satisfied with the food. -

Andalus and I have a special relationship. They literally deliver faster than I could cook a frozen pizza. The delivery guy is one of the nicest people I have ever met as well.
Their buffalo chicken pizza is delightful. The reason I don't give all 5 stars is that they changed their bleu cheese recently! It was perfect before! Makes me slightly discouraged from ordering that now.
Their frozen yogurt is also very good. They give you an option of vanilla AND chocolate which is rare for a pizza place.
All this talk is getting me hungry..... -

Angora--er, Andalus--is a staple of mine. The number is in my phone, I know several of the delivery guys by name, and they are always cheerful when I call in to place an order. Discovering Andalus during my sophomore year at BC was fabulous, and they've been my go-to for delivery ever since.
**Fro-Yo is amazing. I always opt for chocolate with Heath bits and coconut. My boyfriend, who adores fro-yo, is not fond of their strawberry (he says it tastes artificial?), but I tell him he's nuts and we order anyways. ;)
**Make Your Own Salad: I will never understand what they do to a salad that I can't do at home, but I cannot recreate their salads. They have endless toppings options (I go with artichoke hearts, spinach, sundried tomatoes, chicken, and carrots), and they are always perfect.
**Flat Bread Pizzas: These are low-cal and easy to enjoy. We love the BBQ Chicken (now, come to think of it, I might have that for dinner tonight).
The service can drag at times, usually if you're opting for delivery, but it's always worth the wait and there has been a time or two where I got free food out of it. I love this place! -

I've lived about 30 seconds from Andalus for over 2 years now, and don't understand the complaints! Yes, they are definitely overpriced, but for the menu items I choose, the quality seem fresh and is prepared quickly. The major complaint I have is their credit card charge (but who isn't doing that these days...) and the way they charge you for every addition. Banana peppers added for $1.50?! Pretty sure a JAR of them costs that at Star.
I usually get one of the following:
1. California Panini: Delish. Turkey, Swiss cheese, avocado and light mayo? Amazing. I also add onions and bacon doesn't sound bad either..comes with a bag of chips!
2. Mediterranean Calzone (no olives, with onions): Also good, the feta they use is great and their crust is consistently perfect.
3. MY ALL TIME FAV...the chicken salad club sandwich with onions and banana peppers (comes with fries): SOOOO GOOD! Two meals worth of food, has bacon - I don't know what they do to the chicken salad but it is amazing here! Not for someone on a diet, but whatev. Why are you ordering from here on one, anyway? Hmmmm?!
Other than that, I dunno. Their breakfasts are so-so...you're better off at Moogy's on Chestnut Hill Ave. FroYo is great but they charge you over a buck for any mix-ins. I also dig their plain cheese pizza slices - humongous and 2 bucks.
All in all...you pay for the convenience and the one or two menu items you love. DONT pay with your card. -

Andalus... I have no idea what it means, but I do know it tastes great!
Andalus is the closest pizza/sub/sandwich shop to me, and by that I mean less than a 5 minute walk. However, and this is a slightly embarrassing admission, I have ordered delivery from them several times. I can just picture them laughing as they consider whether to bother getting in the car or not, but sometimes you just don't want to go out the door.
It's these times that Andalus is my savior. Everything there is great. Calamari, pizzas, cheese sticks, calzone, smoothie... whatever - order and you will be pleased.
If you are in walking distance it is worth a morning stumble for some great recovery food. Eggs and frozen yogurt? I believe I will! -

This place comes out on top when compared to the other restaurants in the area. Their pizza is good - not amazing, but definitely hits the spot, and definitely good.
They have good sandwiches. There is not a ton of falafel in their falafel thing, but it is really tasty. They need to add one more blob of falafel to that sandwich, and it'll be awesome.
My boyfriend likes their cheesesteak, but sometimes the meat is too rubbery for his liking.
Their frozen yogurt is AWESOME.
Buffalo chicken strip=nicht so gut. Don't order them.
They're a good standby, and definitely one of the best in this area. -

I live in the neighborhood of Andalus and go here all the time. The staff is really friendly!
They have a great breakfast deal with coffee, an omelette, and home fries, and it's so good! Their spinach and feta omelette is amazing.
I'm a big fan of Greek Style Pizza, so this is one of my favorite pizza places in Boston. Their Spicy Eagle Pizza and margherita pizza are both very good. This is also my go-to place when I want a fresh Greek Salad! I've never had a bad meal here and highly recommend it. -

This place is awesome (I've only got delivery)
The frozen yogurt candy mixing things is worth 5 stars alone for me.
I want a machine like that so bad.
Stawberry mixed with Oreo
or Peanut Butter Oreo Marshmallow Chocolate Reese's Pieces...
Literally what ever you can think of candy and yogurt it's probably there and delicious.
Their gondola pizza is awesome
Sandwiches OK
This place is great every Sunday night to me ;) -

Elaine: How about a Big Salad?
Hilde: A big salad?
Elaine: (to George) You see?
George: Just tell her what'cha want, they'll make it for ya.
Elaine: It's a salad, only bigger, with lots of stuff in it.
Hilde: I can bring you 2 small salads.
Elaine: Could you put it in a big bowl?
Hilde: We don't have any big bowls.
Well Andalus has big bowls. To go. Behold the big Greek salad.
With apologies to Seinfeld.
another thing. They have free Wifi, and a confi couch where you can veg out. -

I basically live right next door so I frequent Andalus often, more often than I would like to admit.
The frozen yogurt is AMAZING!! Oh its so good, it is a must if you are there.
The pizza is decent, not the best, not the worst. I am a big fan of the Veggie Pizza but could do without the cheese or pepperoni pizza, they don't put enough sauce on it and I love my sauce.
The sandwiches and wraps are actually pretty good. The Mozzarella, basil and tomato pita is my favorite but they really are all good. I absolutely hate the salads. This place has the worst dressing. blah, avoid them at all cost. And don't eat the chicken tenders either. no good.
That is all.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Pretty pedestrian chicken parm. Not a whole lot of sauce, mediocre chicken with mushy breading.
The garlic bread was good, but the little salad was terrible. Probably won't be going here again. -
Review from Benjamin N.
Brighton, MA
This is my standard lunch place, although I usually get the same thing: A turkey sandwich on ciabatta bread, with lettuce, tomatoes, american cheese, hot peppers, honey mustard, and avocado with salt and pepper. This sandwich is my favorite combination, and serves as a litmus test for lunch places.
Although the ciabatta bread is often warm, light and flavorful, sometimes it is less fresh. The ingredients in general are decent; they use whole leaves of lettuce and and the avocado is cut fresh each time, instead of being pre-packed or pre-chopped.
The frozen yogurt is terrific, they have about 50 flavors. My favorite is the York Patties, fresh and minty without being overwhelming. The cookies are soft and buttery, and I often have to actively avoid them.
It's not a gourmet cafe by any means, but for something simple and fresh, made by the same two cooks every day, this small local lunchery beats anything in Cleveland Circle. I think the complete lack of ambition to be greater than it is sets this place apart: open late, no fancy menu items with cheap ingredients, a seating area which could only be described as ascetic, and quick service and inexpensive offerings. In response to Erin's review, this is the kind of place where they just might put breakfast sausage on your pizza, but it will be years before Wolfgang Puck makes it trendy. -

Andalus is definitely my go-to spot for pizza, sandwiches/wraps, meat-salad (antipasto?), and frozen yogurt! It's close enough to walk to, but mostly I find myself getting it delivered. It was a little embarrassing at first, but they're used to it by now. Their food is not amazing, but it definitely does the trick when you don't feel like cooking. The salad dressing is delicious (and makes a great dipping sauce for the pizza crusts)! I can't order anything from here without ordering frozen yogurt too... just be careful with the toppings, pumpkin means ACTUAL pieces of a pumpkin, and not some kind of pumpkin pie filling. I've always had friendly and quick service.

Another place digitally remastered and emerging under a new name, Used to be Angora, is now Andalus, same menu, same folks. Decent pizza, good grilled sandwiches, mix-in frozen yogurt. Slow service. Super close. That's the skinny.

This is an amazing little place to eat lunch or get some frozen yogurt. There's not much seating, but I've never been there when there wasn't a seat available for me. The staff here is very friendly and is nice to everyone who comes in. And for the price you pay for the sandwiches, the sandwiches are pretty big, and they're always delicious. I highly recommend this place!

So slow.... place your order now, and it might be ready in 15 minutes (and that's to warm up a slice of pizza). Seriously, I placed the order, 4 people just stood around, then it occured to someone to warm the pizza, and then eventually bag it for me. Good pizza, but ridiculously slow and not-so-nice staff. Avoid the frozen yogurt if you have allergies - a few years back I ordered VANILLA yogurt that had remnants of the last person's peanut butter. Lovely if I wanted that, but I am ALLERGIC to peanuts!!!!!!!

I have only tried the frozen yogurt at Andalus, but it was fantastic! No need to pick a size, there is only one heaping portion of vanilla or chocolate fro-yo to choose from. Then pick one of their hundred of mix-ins, yes, about a hundred! From real chunks of carrot cake and cheese cake, to kiwi and mango, or peppermint patty and grapenuts, the combinations are endless. The final product may take a spin class or two to work off, but it is totally worth it.

How can you not love this place? Great pizza & calzones, delicious smoothies and frozen yogurt combinations, good breakfast, comfortable atmosphere. This place has everything a hungry college student could ever need. Plus, the owner is one of the nicest, hardest working people around. We live in Cambridge now, and still make the trip over for Andalus every once in a while. It's worth it!

I'm pretty sure that the same people who own Angora Cafe further down Comm Ave (towards BU) own Andalus as well. This was most obvious in their ginormous frozen yogurt/smoothie selection, but I was here for lunch. I ordered a very boring but delicious ham and cheese sandwich on a panini. True, they didn't give me lettuce like I'd asked, and the sandwich could have been a little toastier, but I wasn't about to complain. I hadn't eaten in about 12 hours, and pretty much anything looked good at that point. My sandwich was tasty, although a bit pricey--that and 1 can of Coke came to $9! Seems a bit high, IMO. Once again, I was starving and would have eaten pretty much anything at that point, so I was in no position to quibble over prices. Solid food, but nothing so stellar that I'd travel out of my way for it.

Review from Jen T.
In agreement on the frozen yogurt mix-in wonders they create. The fresh mozzarella wrap, whatever it is called, is enormous and stuffed with enough cheese and everything else to fill me up for like 3 days. They are friendly, and will even deliver to me despite the fact that I could walk if I really wanted to... I haven't tried breakfast, but definitely have to some time.

I live practicaly across the street, so it's an easy go-to for me. They have an amazing list of frozen yogurt! It's so delicious and a very generous portion that they give. You get to pick from vanilla or chocolate base then pick from MANY flavors like cheesecake, all fruit, snickers, granola, etc. so tasty! I've gotten some of there paninis and wraps, I do have to say that the garden veggie burger wrap is definitely my favorite. Some of the other sandwiches have been a little soggy, but overall pretty good still. I'm not a big fan of the breakfast, but still worth checking out, even if its just for the yogurt!

I've gone back for my first sub (large sizes only) from this place. Not too good. The best thing I can say is that just like in my wrap, the lettuce and tomato and other fixins' were very fresh and of good quality. But overall it was lousy. I got an Italian...they didn't have the subs listed on the big chalkboard on the wall, but how much could an Italian sub cost, right? Well, imagine my surprise when it was over $8! I said, "for that price this better be the best Italian sub in the universe," but when I got it home I found out it most certainly wasn't. I asked for Italian dressing on mine (more flavorful than just oil & vinegar), and they used so little it was practically dry...but maybe that's a good thing, because I don't know what they're passing off as "Italian dressing" but it sure as heck ain't Good Seasonings. The cold cuts were AWFUL. Guys, in Boston people can tell when you're trying to pass off cheap ham as prosciutto, and I'm pretty sure that was Oscar Meyer bologna. I asked for my sub toasted, and what I got was cold meat and cheese on toasted bread, WHICH IS AN ABOMINATION. The meat and cheese must be toasted to draw the oils out of them and make it more flavorful! Everybody knows that!
I don't get it. They seem to be making some kind of effort at quality, but they manage to put at least one cheap or lousy ingredient in every dish that ruins it. Get it together, guys!1 Previous Review: Show all »

I really tried to like this place (I live 5 minutes away), but it just doesn't do it for me. I've tried their chicken parm sub, grilled sandwich, and pizza and didn't come away liking any of them. The only redeeming feature of this place is the froyo, because they offer such a huge selection and the portions are generous.

Living around the corner from this place for three years, I recently gave it a string of tries...1 good, 1 so-so and 1 terrible...when I ordered the flatbread pizza with peppers, onions and sausage I didn't think I needed to specify that I didn't mean BREAKFAST sausage!?! What planet are these guys on? Tomato sauce, cheese, peppers, onions...they just don't blend so well together with that hint of maple syrup. Gross. I will never eat here again.

i live close by and so I was originally a very good customer and let me say theres nothing worse then lack of appreciation for a loyal customer...after ordering pickup countless times i went again only to be told that there is now a $1 charge for credit card use...i ordered a $6 sandwich & with the new surcharge and tax the bill was about $9...when i asked why there was a new charge i was told "well we re being charged .30 credit card use" so i ask you if theyre being charged .30 why am I being charged $1, and worse why tell me that? why they didnt raise their prices by .30 instead to add cost into the price of food is a mystery to me...even with this ridiculousness I still decided to go again and got a meal with a side salad, the side salad was completely moldy and when I called to tell them they didnt seem to care and werent willing to do much of anything for me...so even though the food is mostly good and they are very close by I wont be going again any time soon
