The food here is better than your typical bar fare. I've had the Western Cheeseburger and a ham and cheese sandwich and both were excellent.
Drinks are reasonably priced and there are plenty of TVs to watch any game you might be interested in. The outdoor seating area is an enjoyable place to kill some time when the weather is nice. Both times I've been in, the owner has been serving drinks and running orders back from the kitchen. He's super friendly and seems genuinely interested in making sure you're enjoying yourself. -

As promised to our server tonight (who I also think was the owner), a 4 star review.
I have to agree with another reviewer about not knowing whether to seat ourselves or wait. However, the tables were reserved tonight for a christmas party. My guess is seat yourself - it didn't seem that formal. If you are seriously going to give a low rating over this casual of a place to eat ... very well then.
Living in this area, I've been trying to find a place that serves a KILLER long island (My other reviews pretty much will tell you I live for a good long island). I've only found two places - one being O'Skis, and the other, Anchors. One drink pretty much set me in my place. Two drinks, well, let's just say I wasn't driving anywhere soon.
Service was a tad slow, but again, they were hosting a christmas party with 30 some odd people, and we weren't in any rush.
However, everyone in the group of 4 found the food to be delicious. Three of us ordered the sampler platter (where you get to pick 4 out of 6 possible sampler items), and each item was cooked perfectly, and tasted great. The chicken wings were awesome, the chicken tenders were great. I could't complain about the food.
The server/owner came to us multiple times during the night to make sure that everything was okay. However, the only thing I mentioned to him was the strong pour on the drinks: Yes - I *love* a strong pour. But, I don't want to be walking in a crooked line after two drinks.
If I had to offer one other piece of advice: Quicker Service. I didn't really want to wait that long for my first drink. I didn't think waiting that long for a side salad/appetizer salad was that appropriate either, but I waited patiently, and it came. Maybe it was just the night, maybe it is just the norm - but I don't think it would hurt to bring these things out quicker.
The bottom line:
Would I come back - Definitely
Would I bring other people here - Of course
Would I recommend people to try it - Yes -

Good food, friendly service and nice atmosphere what more could you want!
Went the other night with some friends for the first time and will definitely go back. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the fish taco's and really liked them. The fish was well cooked and the fixings were fresh and tasty. Good crisp fries which is always a bonus for me. The bartender greeted us, took our drink order, returned quickly with the drinks, took our food order and check in a couple times to see how we were and to tell us our food was on the way. The food arrived in 10 to 15 minutes was enjoyed by everyone and the service was outstanding. Only problem was it was to windy to sit out side and enjoy the great view, next time. -

Disclosure up front: I used to work with one of the owners.
I came here on a Saturday afternoon and got a nice burger. They get their meat freshly ground from Ponderosa. It tasted fresh and I liked the bun, too. I got the San Francisco burger, which includes an onion ring and Thousand Island sauce. The beer battered fries were nice, too.
The clam chowder was on special. I liked it and would get it again although maybe it tasted a little too fishy.
They have lots of beer but none I wanted to drink.
The view of the Sparks Marina is nice. There's plenty of outdoor seating as well.
The fish and chips is supposed to be a big seller and I'd like to come back and try that. -

I used to go to Anchor's quite often, since I lived across the street. I always thought the food was okay, but mainly went for the atmosphere, location, and drink deals. I just went with my husband for the first time in a couple of years. I was really disappointed. We sat outside and it took forever to get waited on. It was explained to us that a large party was just finishing up and everything was running a little slow. Okay, no problem, I understand stuff happens. But the food...ick. I got a turkey wrap. It was a plain tortilla with very little turkey lunch meat inside. Tons of iceberg lettuce. I had requested cheddar cheese, and on it was what appeared to be a kraft singles type of cheese. One slice. No sauce or anything. My husband got a bbq burger which was good, but not anything special. Refills took a long time to get, a did any type of attention at all. The large party left fairly early on in our meal (before we even got the food) but the service never improved.
ETA- I wanted to add that I would still go to Anchor's to play some pool and have drinks, but probably won't be dining for lunch or dinner again. -

When you walk into the place, you don't know if you seat yourself or wait for service. You can't tell who works here, because the staff is in street clothes and you can't tell them apart from the customers. The waitress came and took our drink order and then left. Took about 10 mins to come back for our dinner order and the place wasn't busy at all. The iced tea tasted dirty. Food was mediocre. The people were friendly for the most part, but the service was terrible and slow. Don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

I can't believe this place isn't listed yet! It's on the second floor at the end of the Harbour Cove building at the Sparks Marina - you can either take the stairs or use the elevator by the parking area. There is an indoor section that has kind of a "pub" feel to it. It has a bar, some tables, a pool table - and of course TVs for sports viewing! They also have an outdoor patio overlooking the marina. We ate on the patio and it was a great atmosphere - lite jazz playing, awesome watching the people and dogs on the marina pathway below, and a beautiful sunset!
The food here ranges from basic bar food - appetizers and sandwiches - to casual meals like seafood and pasta dishes. Since we were here for an early supper (~5pm) I had the club sandwich and mom had the appetizer sampler - both were really good. Nice portions, tasty, and delivered fast. My mom had wine and we both commented on the generous serving - large glass and filled 2/3 full.
The server was fast and friendly - treated us just like the regulars who were there. She checked on us several times, even after we finished eating and were just hanging out enjoying the sunset, but never made us feel like "get out so I can give someone else your table." Overall, this place has a nice neighborhood bar feel - not too noisy or crazy.
Oh, and they also let you bring your dog onto the patio - they even had a water dish out for the 4-legged patrons. :) For football fans they have NFL Sundays when there are NFL games, they have all day Happy Hour with a $5 food menu, 1/2 price appetizers, and drink specials. They also do stuff on Thursdays and other times for various sporting events. I will definitely be hanging out here in the future!! -

I don't know about the food because they never came to take our order even though I went in several times. I finally went in to the bar yo order and he told me it would be a really long wait for food. Never mind, we have already been waiting 20 mins without being greeted and the server was rude.

The new owner is really working hard to improve the quality and service. He seems to be doing a good job. He was very accommodating and is making the place more family friendly. It's a great place to relax with a beer and enjoy the view or sunset!

The food was average. The smoking eliminates sitting indoors for me. Went for the view so we sat outside anyways. Looking over the Marina is nice. The place didn't appeal to me even with the view so I probably wouldn't"t return.

We liked this place. I lived down the street from it for 7 years and never went. Now I moved out to Golden Valley and I finally try this little gem. Figures. Anyways, They have all your standard "bar food" with a few other interesting things thrown in there. We both had the fish and chips with garlic fries and it was really good. Kids had mini corndogs and they liked those too. $2 Rolling Rock pints all day every day. Great place to people watch from the balcony as well as just looking at the Marina. (We went 4 days after new years and I always savor watching all those people that have no business in spandex or doing anything physical for that matter, trying to make it through the first week of "New Years Resolution") Our waitress was very nice but she was the only waitress. That's why there is not a five star rating. She was good but she had to take care of the entire place so service was SLOOOWWW. Good overall though and we will definitly be going back!
