Comfortable beds, great location, quality coffee in the lobby. Few negatives, but they need to update their TVs and provide continental breakfast. Their food is expensive.

Kind of a drab skyscraper in downtown Anchorage. There didn't seem to be too much to do right around the hotel. The valet and bell staff were very helpful, especially since we had more gear than they brought with them to D-day. Rooms were ok as was the view. No shuttle to the train station, unfortunately.

Wonderful Hotel. Although I haven't stayed there overnight, I've been there for several catered events and wedding receptions. The catering staff are extremely pleasant and the space is always vibrant. I'm not usually a fan of large catered parties because more oft than not the food suffers. Excellent food, excellent service.
My only complaint is that their seating has absolutely no padding! -

Shoot - should've asked for king bed :-(
Top Executive & Concierge floor on #20 - good harbor views.
Room was in pristine condition upon ck-in.
Valet & front desk were er, a little missing with their faculties when I arrived - um, next day too. Since i was only there to ck-in, sleep & promptly ck-out, who cares? Was in the city purely for party & bar-hopping, so it all worked out.
Loved the robe.
Awesome amenities in bathroom.
Pretty cool coffee/tea maker for early am wake-up.
Fluffy bedding and pillows.
what more can you ask for??? -

This was a very nice hotel. Sure, there were a few hiccups but the overall experience was definitely one of my better recent Marriott experiences.
Upon check in I was immediately greeted by a bellman who retrieved some cases I had shipped to the hotel ahead of arrival. He had them up to my room before I arrived and helped with me some local questions I had. He was very friendly and conversational without being annoying.
Front desk staff was very friendly and appropriately staffed so as not to make anyone wait more than a minute or two to check in (and there was a lot of activity going on with the recent arrival of a crowd from the cruise ship).
The catering staff let me borrow a cart from their private stash to move around my hundred pound cases after I got settled in and told me to just feel free to walk into the staff area any time I needed one as long as I promised to return it. I was willing to oblige.
Room was very clean, well kept, had a gorgeous view from both side of the hallway (my boss was on the opposite side and had a great view of the inlet and, occasionally Mt. McKinley, while I had a gorgeous view of mountains and the downtown. Her view was better but I could hardly complain about my view (which I"ll attach as a photo shortly).
Concierge lounge was well stocked for breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres. Bartender on the first floor was friendly and funny.
It's atypical for me to give such a good review, especially of a hotel, I should note.
They did forget to clean my room one day but were more than happy to clean it right away when I got back to the room and noticed. I declined since it wasn't in too bad of shape.
I had one room service experience. I ordered the halibut fish and chips (FANTASTIC) and ordered Cream of Asparagus soup. They brought beef and barley instead and since they made the mistake and I didn't desire the cream of asparagus anymore, they took the entire meal off my bill which I thought was unnecessary but very customer service oriented. More places should act this way.
I was at the hotel for a conference for 3 days and it was catered by the hotel. Everyone agreed that the food was amazing, especially the fresh salmon in a cream sauce. Yum.
Overall great experience, I'd definitely come back. -

The number one cool thing here is that they have Aurora Borealis wake up calls! Yes, you too can be awaken to view the northern lights.
The second cool thing here is that once you state an allergy to something they remember. They communicate through some kind of Spidey Sense Neural network and they find you with hypo-allergenic meals. This appears to be the case because I only told one server about an allergy at dinner. Later on at the pasta party and the banquet the other servers would seek me out with safe alternatives.
Kudos! -

Just checked in, settled and thought maybe I should put down my first impression of this hotel. In general, it's aiight, definitely not worth the price I'm paying per night. It's been recently renovated but all in all the hotel is still really old. The decor, the color of the carpet, the sink, the tub, the closet... everything seem like antiques. Maybe I'm too used to the modern hotels in bigger cities..... oh well it's not like I have a ton of choice here.
Update: After spending a night, I found their bed quite comfortable, not the Westin Heavenly bed of the world but good enough that I got a good night rest. I'm going to add one more star for it :)
Another Update: The front desk is NOT helpful at all. No one understands their own reservation process. Supposedly I'm on the wait list for the following week but no one knows where the list is maintained and one gal even asked me to just book at another hotel. The only thing I like about this hotel is location, other than that... nothing else impressed me. -

Stayed here for 1 night and wish I would have stayed at another Marriott property, but you cannot beat the downtown location. I arrived and Valet was no were to be found, left the car and then went to check in. My room was nice and clean but the chair had a coil loose and ripped my jeans when I stood up. Management was very nice though and offered to replace the jeans. The next morning was an early once since I had to catch a flight and valet again did not realize that I had called down for my car so while they were looking for my keys, I stuck my head out the door and saw my car (at least they had it started to warm it up). I will stay here again, but will probably try another Marriott property first before coming back here.
