The folks at Anchorage Downtown Hotel were more than accommodating.  My flight came in VERY late (past midnight),and they still offered their free shuttle service.  I called when my flight touched down and the driver was there within 10 minutes.

The rooms are clean and comfortable and affordable. (compared to other rates in the downtown area, I thought it was a steal)  I agree that the breakfast was minimalist, but there are some good breakfast spots nearby if a bagel, fruit, yogurt and coffee aren't enough for you.

Just called to inquire about an extended day and wanted to know about weekly and monthly rates.  They informed me, to my HORROR that a one month stay that included breakfast and dinner, would be $1800.  Outrageous!!!!  I hope the breakfast for 1800 consists of more than just the english muffins and nutrigrain bars I had last time I was there.

    HOLY MOLY!!!!

Likes: price, location, management and staff, room amenities.

Dislikes: lack of beverages! The Continental Breakfast only has coffee - not juice, milk or water and the vending machines with juice are broken. Booo! (still not a deal-breaker)

Stay here if the no-alcohol policy of the local Hostel offends you.

I am so happy I found this place for my trip to Anchorage. It is close downtown and just a block or two away from the big hotels (Marriott, etc.) and some great dining and nightlife. The room was clean, comfortable and WARM! (see my pic, room 310)Great breakfast spread with coffee and yummy, fresh baked blueberry muffins on the counter all day.  Free wifi and cheap on site parking sealed the deal.
I will stay here again when in Anchorage; 79$ was a great price for Iditarod and Fur Rondy weekend. I prefer to support the independent business' and merely sneak in to the pool and hot tub at the 120 a night Marriott, shhh, don't tell.

What an amazing place!  I'm an Anchorage expat and never had stayed in a hotel there before.  Wanted something less like what I usually get when I travel for business (I do aquite often).
On the phone they're much more than pleasant. Accommodating in every way once I got here. It's quiet; it's clean; it's convenient; it's perfect!
I've lived in San Francisco off and on over the years and it reminds me of something I might discover there or in New Orleans.  Even the people staying here are different--GOOD different.
For my own sake I hope it doesn't get too popular but because they've done such an awesome job I wish them only the best.  They work hard to make this place great and it shows.
The neighborhood, layout and atmosphere remind me very much of coming home to my nice little downtown studio apartment.

Cute, clean, and affordable hotel that is a 5 minute walk from most of the downtown tourist attractions.  Good breakfast location is nearby, and there are 2 brewpubs within a short walk also.

Older building with windows to the outside, but walls are a little thin.  Small business it seems, not corporate owned as far as I could tell.  Friendly staff and parking is available in back.

Perfect for the thrifty traveler in need of a clean comfortable no-frills place to stay. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating.  Just off the beaten path and close the park strip.  Includes  free 24 hour shuttle to/from the airport - a nice touch for a small independent hotel.
