We stay here every year, it's very close to the smaller beaches off the marginal way that we like to go to.  It is always clean, kid friendly, has pools and hot tubs for time not spent at the beach.  Having the restaurant and bar right there is convenient, too.  Food is okay for breakfast (convenient) and snacky stuff and kids food is okay.  The restaurant for dinner is not great and a little expensive, so we avoid that.

We usually stay for a week in the summer and try to make our reservations at least 6 months in advance.  It's a little easier to stay on the ocean side for us, closest to the pools, restaurant and marginal way.

This was my first time here and I think it was fine overall.  The room was comfortable, clean and the price reasonable (about $110/night for partial view room, weekday rate right before Memorial Day).

The main complaint I have is the rude older man at the reception desk.  When asked about coffee availability (because there aren't coffee makers in the room), he just pointed towards a room with coffee service.  When I asked what he was pointing at, he got angry and said that it was our fault for not giving him opportunity to talk.  Yikes, that dude needs to be in a different business with an attitude like that.

All the other staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the cleaning people (who are probably the only people of color I saw in Maine).  They really need to create a simple information sheet with the stuff people need so that the grouchy guy won't have to point so much and raise his blood pressure.

Note that there are no laundry facilities nor are there elevators to the second floor which makes it a little hard to bring your suitcase upstairs (or for older people with limited mobility).  There is a restaurant/bar, indoor and outdoor pools and 3 hot tubs.  Plus the beach is right there.  Even with a partial view room, we could see and hear the ocean.

Would actually  give it a 3.5.

I came here with my boyfriend for our ~*~*~Anniversary~*~*~ last December. It was awesome! Less than $100 for a room that is obviously like triple the price in the summer. The room was really nice. We came for the year round outdoor hot tub (they also have an indoor swimming pool).

We spent hours in the hot tub, and it was discouraging to get out due to the snow surrounding it (but it was so warm in the hot tub!). I had to be silly and get out, run over to the snow, roll around in it and then get back in the hot tub. I think my body went into shock because I did this more times than I probably should have (ok well I shouldn't have done it at all but I am young and things like this sound like great ideas). Don't worry, we were the only people using the hot tub so I wasn't ruining anyone else's good time.

It's just a short walk from the shops, etc. We took a walk "downtown" and it was really cute to see everything lit up for Christmas. Not sure if much is open during the off-season.

Had a great experience here, and I'd love to go back during the summer (and we are definitely coming back again this winter!)

If memory serves me right, this hotel did a "refresh" about 7-8 years ago.  Well, after countless tour bus groups, lobster craving SUV drivers, and families from Quebec and Boston the old gal is starting to show its age.  Our room had two worn out mattress, nicked furniture, distorted TV, and worm carpet.

Part of the gracious green lawn has been sacrificed to a circus tent like "building" to house a very overpriced/limited menu restaurant (not to be confused with the long standing breakfast and bar area).

This is a wonderful hotel in a wonderful location, but it needs another refresh to keep it a top contender.

I cannot find any significant fault with my experience here, and it met and exceeded my expectations.

Location is right on the shore of Ogunquit, on a quiet side street, a five minute walk from beautiful downtown. The room was spotless, chambermaids efficient and pleasant. Office staff was really exceptional: my arrival was delayed by a day and a half, they were very accommodating, held my reservation and didn't charge me. Indoor pool area beautiful and heated, but jacuzzzi wasn't (?). Better than average continental breakfast (some products from local bakery), but coffee was the usual scalding dishwater.

Go off-season, Thanksgiving for example, and get a 2nd floor room closest to the bend in the hotel near the marginal way.  Make sure you have a whirlpool tub.

    Talk about recharging your batteries!

When I go to Maine, I stay here.

This is a beautiful hotel with beautiful views of the Marginal Way.  It is walking distance to the Village of Oguniquit and Perkins Cove.

It has all of the amenities that one would want when staying in Maine.  Pool, hot tub, snack bar/cafe.  The staff is friendly and accommodating.  The hotel is spotless.  There are chairs throughout the property to lounge about and take in the coast.

This is my escape, when ever I need a release from reality, find me here.

    Pros:
Hotel grounds are spotless and lovely. Rooms are well appointed, clean, and reasonably updated.

    Cons:
Less than impressive service. If the concierge had spent less time trying to hit on us and more time telling us that our third party (who was arriving later in the day) wouldn't be allowed to park on the grounds, I would've been a bigger fan of this hotel.

We were only planning to stay for an overnight and I will start this off by saying we had terrible weather, so much of the hotel that seemed like it would be great in nice weather, we did not experience.

Overall for the price (and without being able to use the pool or walk the marginal way), the room itself was not worth it.  It was clean and the room was nice and big, but the overwhelming smell of bleach each time we opened the door wasn't pleasant.  Also, they did not have a hold on the temperature and the room was stuffy even when we put the a/c unit on full blast.  The sheets were really rough, I didn't find the bed to be very comfortable and I'm pretty sure the hotel must just soak their sheets in bleach (which I guess they have to do), but it was so strong that my entire body broke into hives.  We packed up at 11:00PM and just left... I could have sucked it up, but since we don't live that far, it just wasn't worth it.

On a positive note, we did have a drink at the "bar" by the pool and they had a guy singing and playing music and he was great.  That was by far the best part of this place (without having been able to use the other amenaties).

Anchorage by the Sea is a nice place, BIG and spread out along the marginal way, a few different properties make up this hotel. We stayed the weekend and got a package deal that included a few meals around town, if we just booked the room it would have cost the same as the room with dinner and two breakfasts. The hotel is nice but not ultra-modern or chic, it is pretty much what you would expect from a nice hotel by the sea.  free wifi, free little box of chocolates and salt water taffy in the room. reasonable rates, easy to find .. book your room far enough in advance and you can get something on the water ..

I was SO disappointed with this place!  We got the night's lodging as a gift, and felt guilty.  The room cost over $200, and it was tiny!  The furthest from the ocean, with a lovely view of the parking lot and duplicate building facing us.  I almost knew when it took so long to check in that I wasn't going to like it there, and I was right.  I would NEVER stay here again.

couldn't be happier with our stay here. i loved the fresh squeezed oj at breakfast. the pancakes and everything were awesome. after our stay we realized we forgot a pair of running shoes in the room. we called the hotel 2 days after. and 3 days later the shoes showed up in a box on our doorstep.

I just spent my Labor Day weekend here with my Mom (she needed a vacation!). We stayed at the Graham House (not listed on their website), in a room they consider non-traditional because the bathroom was across the hall (only for our room- other 3 rooms have bathroom in room). Quite honestly, wasn't a problem for us, but I wouldn't recommend our particular room for a romantic getaway. Graham House is just that, an old, quite charming house. Overall, hotel had all you could want- pools, hottubs, and an amazing location along the Marginal Way. Beautiful view from their Adirondack Chairs- can't ask for much more. Aside from that, an easy walk into the Village of Ogunquit, and down to Perkins Cove. Rates were reasonable for location. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Was also quite clean. I would love to go back! Also: If going with a group, booking the entire Graham House might be a consideration- four rooms in total- two rooms downstairs are efficiency, so you get the benefits of renting a house,  but amenities of a hotel!

Went in the off season in february and we got a deal for $129+taxes and in summer they charge $300+ for the same room. We had a room with fire place and one person whirlpool. For the money I spent I am satisfied with the place and amenities. I would definitely not shell out $300, as everything is very old, nothing like a resort. The rooms are dull and have no feeling of luxury, the one person whirlpool was barely functional and even for one person was pretty small. I would give some other place a shot if I visit again. The advantage is that its right on ocean front, but the town itself is so small, no matter where you stay you can easily get around the marginal walk and the ocean.
