Review from Greg S.
I've got the Anchor itch, after recently attending an event at the Anchor Brewing Company and having a blast. So when I happened upon this lovely spot in Terminal 3 at SFO, I had to pinch myself! Or....er....itch myself.
Their tap selection looked stellar, however they only had 3 of the 6 beers advertised. I finally was able to try their Christmas ale...dark and fragrant, but oh so delicious. And for a second course I went with their Summer Beer, because nothing goes hand in hand like Christmas and Summer....yeah, that sounded better in my head.
The service was adequate. There is food to be ordered, but I did not partake this round.
This place was a pleasant surprise, and I look forward to a pleasant return visit in the future! -

Lunch at the airport. I wasn't looking for any Michelin stars, but I wasn't expecting my last meal in San Francisco to leave such a bad taste in my mouth - literally!
We ordered shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. He ordered a sourdough bread bowl of clam chowder, and I ordered honey fried chicken with fries. The shrimp cocktail wasn't cold enough ... or something. It tasted ok, but the texture of the shrimp was kind of weird. Floppy and soggy almost. Pretty unappetizing for an appetizer, no?
My boyfriend says the soup was "ok." Not great, not horrible, just "ok." The reason I was turned off by it (other than my deep hatred of soup) was that the waitress kept badgering my boyfriend to eat the bowl. "It's edible!" No kidding. But if he doesn't want to eat all of the bread, I don't see why that should be taken personally. I'm sure the waitress was just being friendly, but it was kind of uncomfortable.
The fried chicken was pretty good. Hot and juicy inside, crispy and sweet outside. But the fries were a disaster. Doughy and bland, with no seasoning to speak of. They were even that unappetizing shade of white where you think that they haven't been cooked. I was expecting, at the very least, golden crunchy fries. I had to add a good amount of salt and pepper.
Our drinks were good, at least. He had a beer, and I had a lemon drop. Mine was pretty strong, but in a good way.
It certainly wasn't the worst ever, but the next time I'm stuck at SFO for a while, I'll probably try another restaurant before I come back to Anchor Brewing. -

Wanted to get something quick before getting on the plane. NOT HERE. Ordered chowder in a bread bowl-not alot of work, and a beer. Had to pay when food showed up so I could woof it down and sprint to the air plane. Not alot of room either for bags and stuff.

Food: 2 stars
Service: 0 stars
Crab melt: not bad and they used real crab. none of that imitation shit. just the right amount of cheese. bread was thick enough to hold everything together
Cheese quesadilla: not good..too much veggies and it was soggy
French Dip: nothing fancy about it.
Garlic Fries: we paid extra for this and the portion was so small. i've had better.
Service: Our server was rude. The way she talked and asked us questions was very unprofessional. When she handed us the menu, she asked "Did you want something?" O_o what does that mean? We came to eat ...of course we want something. And when I waved her over to order. she gave me blank face and said "Yes." Her english wasn't very good. -

Decent place to go if you're looking for a quick bite before you head off to your destination. I got the honey-stung fried chicken, which was beautifully crisped. It could have done with a heavier touch of honey, though. The atmosphere is nice - there are some sports channels that play in the background and if you sit next to the window, you can see all the planes taking off. The wait staff is pretty average; you can tell that some of them are kind of 'meh' about their job, but the service wasn't bad.

As far as airport bars goes this is about as good as it gets.
I fly out of SFO terminal 3 quite a bit and normally I've gone to the GB over toward gate 75. I had no idea about the Anchor bar over by gate 70. This will be my new place.... The TVs in both places sort of suck but the service and quality of beers served at Anchor is much better. Haven't tried the food yet. Next time. -

Had a quick lunch here in between flights. Wanted something - but not a lot of food. So I opted for their cup of chili.
Their Chili is really heavy - even with just a small cup I felt weighted down and kind of an uck! feeling.
I won't be ordering that again.
Good location though - would definitely try the place again but with some other food selections. -

The Good: Friendly bartender (Jesse) and a great selection of Anchor Steam beers. Liberty Ale = Hooray!
The Average: The food was your typical airport bar fare.
The Ugly: The manager and employee who got into a screaming match at the service station at the bar. At first I thought it was a customer and the server going at it, then I noticed it was the manager. The worst part was after the server went away, the manager ragged on her for not speaking English very well (the server was Asian and the manager was the poster child for "Caucasian-ness"). -

Pretty good for an airport bar - barkeep is fast, efficient, keeps the taps clean and leaves you the fuck alone if you want. Three TVs over the bar - one on basketball, one on hockey and one on America's "Funniest" Home Videos. Or look out over the runway from the huge windows.
One of the few airport bars that have actual beer on tap. Silly Americans, Coors and Bud are *not* beer. The huge pints are about $8 - but the Liberty Ale had decent hop and the Porter was rich with a chocolate finish.
No better way to kill time at an airport than to drink beer and glaze over at the TV or out the window. -

I can't speak to the food as I didn't order any. But if you want a locally-made microbrew that is exceptional, you can't go wrong. Aside from the flagship beer, the Steam, they have a few others on tap, too. This includes, during the Xmas season, the yearly Christmas ale. If you get a chance, try it. It's a slightly different recipe every year, but always recognizable (spices such as cloves and nutmeg).

Hey if you're going to wait at an airport, if there is any way to while away the time faster, I'm a fan. So yeah, my Gate conveniently happened to be next to the Anchor Brewing Pub. So, I grabbed a pint, watched some basketball, and killed time. The Pub performed fair to well on all accounts. I would definitely drop by here again if I were in Terminal 3!

We did a little bar hopping through the (SFO) terminal while waiting for our flight. I ordered a Liberty Ale here and the garlic fries. Both were disappointing. I drink Liberty enough to know what it should taste like. I even had it in my fridge at the time. They need to clean their taps here.
The garlic in the fries tasted like bad bottled garlic from Costco.
We soon moved on to another bar closer to the plane. We were the last to board. They called us by name as we approached the gate. -

Not a bad place to kill sometime at the airport. Fast, friendly service. Okay food. I had the crab sandwich with fries. Great beer! It's located in the United terminal.

So, the food is meh, the beer is good, the view is fun (airplanes taxing around), and the server the last time I was here -- which was for breakfast -- reminded me so much of the mentor in the Karate Kid, I wanted to laugh. This is a nice little sit down airport restaurant. Overpriced, but that's airport food for you.

This place is sadly the best place to get a drink in this terminal at SFO. The beer is a bit overpriced (as expect at an airport), it's way too bright, the food is average at best, but the bar selection is fairly decent including Old Potrero Rye. Sadly the t-mobile hotspot signal is really weak here, so if you're looking for a place to setup camp with your laptop, this probably isn't your best option if you have a hotspot account.

I had the fettucine primavera with shrimps and alfredo sauce (see photo uploaded). It looked nice but don't let it fool ya. This was by far the worst pasta I've had in my life. The fettucine was way too over cooked (so were the veggies). Came with 4-5 shrimps (I think they're the cocktail shrimps) and 10% alfredo sauce diluted with water. Everything was bland and soft - GROSS. It cost $16.99 or was it $17.99... anyhoo, do not order pasta!

I was a little disappointed with the Anchor Brewing bar at SFO. True, they do have several Anchor products -- Liberty Ale, Porter, etc. -- that are otherwise hard to find on tap. But, there is no character or style to the place. It is quite plain. So was the service. The prices, however, were sky high. What else do you expect at the airport?

Wow, talk about ineptness, I'm guessing they are union protected in their jobs, cause being competent in their positions is not a skill.

Horrible service.. Nasty attitude.. 25 minutes, before someone even bothered to take our order.. And 20 minutes after that when we didn't even get our drinks, I went up the waitress to ask her how much longer it would take and if we can atleast get the drinks right away, her answer was " get it from the bar yourself". Of course I was pissed off at her attitude and we left.. In short 50 minutes of waiting and no food or drinks!!
