My boyfriend and i were moving to New York from San Francisco and did not have much time to figure out our living situation.
All we knew is we had to relocate to Manhattan and wanted to check out places within our budget in a few areas.
I found a few housing brokers on the internet. I emailed three of them. Lotay Tshering got back to me within the hour and was so helpful in explaining the process and listened to all of our top needs. The following week when we arrived in Manhattan for a two day business/housing search trip, he had lined up so many options within the time constrictions we gave him for both days. Despite our limited time, Lotay hustled for us big time and showed us so many places we would actually consider living in and being happy at. I was so utterly impressed with his attention to detail and hard efforts he put into making our lives easier. I had experienced another agent in NY that was really abrasive, and was clearly not looking out for our best interest so we were so fortunate to have met someone who was willing to bat for us and devoted so much time to our needs. We highly recommend Lotay because he found us what we needed and on top of all that is such a kind soul. I didn't want to deal with the stress of moving apartments, but in order to shorten my husband's commute time we decided the trouble would be worth it. Though the search was dreaded, once we found Howard Hauptman at Anchor the experience was a complete breeze!
Howard is knowledgeable about the rental market and a delight to work with. Once we found the perfect apartment we were in a time crunch as we were leaving town 48 hours later for vacation. Howard quickly organized the credit check and lease signing with the landlord so we were able to sign everything before we left. It was such a relief to be able to have everything completed so quickly and enjoy peace of mind about our future home during our holiday.
If you're looking for a realtor, I highly recommend Howard to help your apartment search be stress free and successful. Howard was also kind enough to recommend movers who offered us a discount since we were a referral.

Hold the phone and look no further. You've found your broker with Bo Gorman.
I've had some horrifying moving experiences, but Bo's warm personality, NYC expertise, dedication and due dilligance will guarantee a result you can smile about when it comes to finding your next home. Bo is reliable, trustworthy, and isn't looking to screw you over just to make a quick buck, whichis something I certainly cannot say for 99% of brokers in this city.
And as for a moving company... use imperial movers and ask for Yuval and Elias.
They are all so sweet, super helpful and beyond accommodating!
If you'd like to have the OPPOSITE experience than written above.... I have two suggestions for you that will be the guaranteed way you will have your one way ticket to hell booked and secured!! 1. Pan Am management company --- yes they have some beautiful apartments and buildings, but get over yourself, they don't give a FLIP about you. 2. Call Bond real estate. (see Yelp review from last year)

Eric was a terrific help in finding our company a short term lease during a very hectic time for us, and most likely a hectic time for Anchor Assoc just prior to summer.
He was always available and extremely communicative. When other agents were not as interested it seemed to help us find something that suited our specific needs- Eric was consistently aware of our budgetary and timiing limitations. He was my main contact through Anchor so I can only speak for his own service, but I would highly recommend him for any personal or business real estate transactions. A genuinely nice and trustworthy person to work with! -

All I can say is WOW!
Stacy Lugo from Anchor did a WONDERFUL job helping me to find an Upper East Side apartment. She tirelessly made herself available during the whole process. I viewed apartment homes for an entire Saturday afternoon, and during that time Stacy progressively narrowed down what I was looking for and provided outstanding guidance and insight. Stacy actually managed to make viewing all the listings a totally FUN experience. Her positive "can do" attitude and smile even transcended over the telephone.
From start to end everything was 100% smooth. The staff at Anchor was also fantastic to work with. Many, many thanks! -

I had the pleasure of working with Derek Rhodes in helping my roommate and I find a place. I had been doing the apartment hunting on my own since my roommate currently lives in Miami and Derek was the first broker to go above and beyond. I had already been searching for a month, and all brokers I met with would show me one place and have 1-2 other options for me that were either out of my price range or in an area that was just way too far from work. I was wiling to look at anything below 34th st and relatively close to the PATH, so my standards weren't too hard to meet. I had several unsuccessful meets with different brokers who told me they had no other options to show me other than Stuy town or that I wait until October. When I thought all hope was lost I came across Christopher Balazs who had Derek assist me on a very short notice.
I contacted Chris on a Saturday morning around 10 am and by noon I was meeting with Derek who ended up showing me about 7 buildings. He asked to see every aspect of every apartment we saw. Every building I went to I saw all of the amenities and at least 2 apartments in each building. He made sure to show me something within my price range and something a little above that would give me a good idea to compare my options. I found the perfect place for exactly the price I wanted. He found me a 925 sq ft luxury apartment for under $3200 in Financial District, I'm still shocked!! He was not your typical pushy broker telling you what you should take or making you feel like your standards are too high for your budget. I told him exactly what I was looking for and how much I was willing to pay and he had more than a handful of options to show me. Since I was apartment hunting on my own I felt the pressure of also meeting my future roommates needs without necessarily knowing what she wanted. Derek was very helpful by being very candid about my options and offering his personal advice. He was willing to show me as many places as I deemed necessary to make a decision I would be comfortable with. He is a great broker who is very patient and professional.
After apartment hunting for nearly 5 hours and finally finding a place we celebrated with a late lunch and some beers. All in all this is exactly the kind of broker experience I was looking for. Derek is the kind of guy I will be inviting to my housewarming party and will be getting a Christmas card from me! Apartment hunting in NYC is a nightmare no matter what. All I can say is if you're looking for a more personal experience with someone who isnt pushy and will find you exactly what you want contact Derek Rhodes from Anchor NYC. -

I worked with Ben Willig and he was amazing. Let me tell you why. This past March I moved across the country from Cali. I met with Ben once in Jan. while I was in NY for business and he made time to meet with me at the craziest hours of the day and even showed me some options that are out there. Right before March rolled around he found some great deals for me to look at, including one place in Kips Bay for which 5 other applicants wanted. Thanks to Ben, i beat them out by a hair. He was so quick, thorough and diligent. He gave me a video tour, sent photos, etc. so I was comfortable renting sight unseen. I've been in my place since March and now think I will be moving again. Since i'm more familiar with the city and know my way around, I want to more to a more affordable location. I've contacted Ben again to discuss. Great person to work with! Really recommend this company and getting in touch with Ben!
