Now under different management. Restaurant name is Sultan's
Good solid Turkish food. I've been here on multiple occasions with friends from work and friends from out of town. The grape leaves were the most disappointing item from the appetizers. It tasted like it was from a can or old.
Their moussaka is excellently executed. My friends have thoroughly enjoyed the various shishes, the iskender dishes.
We recently had the hot liver appetizer. It was very tasty!
And in typical Turkish tradition, turkish is on the house. -

They are now closed and a new Turkish restaurant opened in it's place called Sultan Turkish Restaurant serving Turkish and other Mediterranean foods. We will check it out in the future.

This is a fairly new restaurant that is located right next to Nardelli's off of I-84. Been meaning to check it out for a while, so on my way back from a union meeting in Danbury I decided to try it for lunch.
The outside of the restaurant is quite spartan and, well, looks like shit, but the inside is very nicely and tastefully decorated.
If you've never had Turkish food, given the geographic location of Turkey it's about what you would expect-- somewhere between Greek and Lebanese food. Anyhow, I started with a "Shepherd's Salad", basically like a a Greek cucumber and tomato salad. Cost me $5.50 and I wasn't too impressed. Nothing wrong with it, just bland. Coulda used some peppers, garlic and a more robust olive oil in my opinion.
For the main course I ordered the "Iskender kebab" which was quite tasty. It was basically a lamb and veal Doner kebab served with a tomato sauce and yogurt. The meat was thin, tasty and moist. Best part is it's served on top of croutons of fried Turkish bread, made soggy with the delicious juices of the meat. Quite satisfied with this choice, I think it cost a little under $15 or so and the portion was quite big.
Not the best Turkish food I've had, but the Isksender kebab at least was above average. Due to the location and the fact that people in Connecticut tend to shun ethnic foods which have not already been popularized throughout the nation, I'm a little worried for this place's survival. So show some love and drop some money there and get a bellyful of good chow. -

This restaurant is under new ownership, and is now called Sultan's. The retro decor and menu have changed as well, but it still serves up tasty Turkish food.
The selection of Kebabs is now a bit smaller than it was before, but the Kofte and Adana that we had for lunch was very good. The Baklava was also delicious. -

OK the decor is nothing special but the food and the friendliness of the service make up for it.
Good falafel and bread and even better kebabs regardless of your choice: beef, lamb, fish all good tasting at a really reasonable price. Save room for dessert: baklava, rice pudding. You'll probably need some hot tea to help you digest this nice meal since you won't resist the temptation to clean your plate.
Good experience. Note, this is a BYOB place. -

In my mission to find a good Turkish restaurant in Connecticut ,(there arent alot)we stumbled accross this one in the Waterbury area.
It is good,service was great.
Not as good as the Turkish restaurants in Paterson NJ but a good choice in Connecticut.There is plenty of seating thats for sure. -

This place is one of the few middle eastern places around here. I have yet to find a place that makes a Schwarma the way I like it, which means hot sauce, tahini sauce, pickles, and toasted bread. Next time I go I will have to be very specific with my schwarma order.

I HAD to check this out when I saw "Turkish Restaurant" advertised off 84. One friend had gone the weekend it opened and commented on the spartan interior and good food. While the interior hearkened back to the building's Friendly's history (a former occupant of the same location), the current owners have added rugs as wall hangings, play traditional music, and have various Turkish decorations to lend a more authentic flair to the establishment.
By the far, the most compelling reason to go is the food. I had the red lentil soup (excellent), a cold salad of grilled onion, pepper, tomato, & walnut, and zucchini pancakes. The cold salad was a bit spicy, full of flavor, and went very well with the complimentary bread. The server sold me on the zucchini pancakes but they lacked any flavor. Mom had the chicken kebab lunch platter. She commented that the chicken was slightly dry and the shepherd's salad had too much vinegar for her taste. We shared baklava and any shredded filo dough dessert with complimentary Turkish Tea. It was all quite tasty, albeit slightly different than we may have expected. Again, the soup was a must-have. All this for $33.
On top of all this, the server (owner?) was extremely pleasant and accommodating. Beware, there is only one vegetarian meal option and they happened to be out of falafal today SO I reverted to appetizers for my meal.
Anatolia's is opened 7 days/week for lunch and dinner. There is also a Middle Eastern grocer next door in case you want more goodies and Anatolia does take-out, as well. -

Truly amazing Turkish food. If you rate less than five stars, then Turkish food is not to your taste, because it doesn't get better than this. Especially the soups. Oh, the soups. Consider a multi-soup meal!

This is a highwayside restaurant that's well worth the stop. I was only vaguely aware of Turkish cuisine; what I had was simple, but hearty. A small but nice touch is that each entree listing is superimposed over thin closeup of the dish. When you don't know the cuisine, it gives you a much better idea what to expect. The lentil soup is very good, and while I wasn't overly impressed by the cabbage stuffed with ground lamb and onions, the portions are plentiful enough to provide me my dinner again tonight. I'll probably sample the kebobs next time.
I have to reserve special praise for the kadayif, a dessert with shredded philo, walnuts and lemon. It strikes a great balance of sweet and nutty, while somehow coming out tasting refreshing.
Like some before me, I only randomly saw the sign for Anatolia off I-84 as I was driving east. By the time you see it, it can be a little hard to get to, but easily reachable from the next exit east with a couple left turns. I was a little saddened to find myself the only person in the restaurant. This place deserves much better, and is well worth a stop over another Friendly's or other generic restaurant. The exterior is a little dumpy, but the interior is spacious and a fine place for groups or with children who aren't picky eaters. -

We have eaten here twice now and both times our food was excellent. I will agree with some other reviewers that the outside is quite bland looking, and the interior is not fancy looking, but that is not why we go to eat there. We go because the food and the service is authentic and really good. We have had the lamb chops, the swordfish kebabs, as well as the babaganus, the humus, the doner (lamb & veal) kababs, as well as the sheperd salad.. all were wonderful. The swordfish was done to perfection, the lamb was seasoned perfectly. We don;t normally do dessert, and like to hang out for a while while we are eating, and they do not push you out the door, or push the desert menu on you either. We like it, we have been there twice, and will go there again very, very soon! They do not serve booze, and next time i will ask if we can bring some wine with us...
