Absolutely stunning. Having been to Jacksonville Beach and having grown up on Central Florida beaches, I wasn't prepared for how gorgeous Anastasia State Park would be.
It was $8 for our car to come in for the day. We drove in, stopped for a gopher tortoise crossing the road, and headed down the long drive to the beach. Stopped by the campsites to check them out. They were actually across the road from the beach, tucked away in thick palmetto trees. Clean bathrooms and a snack bar/camp store. Went on to the end parking lot where the beach is and was blown away by the size of the dunes. It is literally a couple hundred feet of boardwalk to get from the parking lot over the dunes to the actual beach. Cool birding area as well.
The beach itself is beautiful. Powdery white sand as far as you can see. Great for kids because it is very shallow, so you can walk out pretty far and not be in too deep of water. Strong rip tides while we were there so didn't venture too far in. A good amount of people there, but wouldn;t call it crowded. A couple getting their wedding photos taken, some surfers, and a handful of other families. So glad we stopped by here while we were passing through town, and will be making a point of returning for longer next time. -

Amazing. Breathtaking. Relaxing. We lived in Fernandina Beach and would totally make the trek down to St. Augustine for Anastasia State Park. With two little ones, the calm, beautiful, hard-packed beaches were ideal for us. The clean bathrooms were a definite plus.
A definite must after a day of sight-seeing OR just to get away at a local paradise. -

An Amazing place to go and spend a night camping. The park is lovely and the beaches are just steps away. I use to have an annual pass to come and visit. The prices are a little steep for a vehicle to enter. But if you stay overnight just one flat rate. I believe it is now $28. Pitch a tent and have some fun with your loved ones. A lovely get away and beautiful nature trails!

Anastasia State Park is an absolute must-do for visitors to St. Augustine and locals living on the First Coast. The park is just over the bridge - minutes from downtown St. Augustine - but worlds away. Where downtown can get touristy and crowded and hot during the busy season, Anastasia State Park is a serene, unspoiled area where you can enjoy a pristine, soft-sanded beach that is rarely crowded. It makes a lovely day trip from the city, especially for families or larger parties as you pay a per-car entrance fee. The sand dunes in the park are impressive, there's a short walking trail, and there is a good-sized picnic area with grills. If you're into fishing or kayaking, you're in for a treat at Anastasia State Park. You're also almost guaranteed a heron or egret spotting. If you are outdoorsy and live near St. Augustine, you'd do well to get yourself a yearly pass.
Camping at the park is an excellent option for a getaway, or for budget travelers to St. Augustine. Again, it's just minutes from downtown, so it's no problem to get into the historic area for some sightseeing, and sites are a bargain (around $30 a night). Nowhere else in the area can you stay in a shady, private site this close to the beach. You can even hear music from the nearby St. Augustine Amphitheatre if there's a show happening while you're there. Showers and bathrooms are clean and if you're up for it, sunrises over the ocean shouldn't be missed.Listed in: Jacksonville's parks

WOW i am SOO glad i found this area of st. augustine that is a must go for people in the area looking for a nice florida beach. do not go to the public saint augustine beach as this one is more natural in all sorts of forms. so you come here, pay 4 dollars for ur vehicle all day (can leave and come back), enter into diff areas of the park with diff activities depending on what u wanna do! plenty of parking, natural beauty untouched by man. u can even see tortoises cross the road!!!
there is kayaking and boating for people,
fishing,
biking,
running,
the running on this beach was phenomenal due to the hard packed sand! very very quiet in the early mornings and just endless runway! only wished there was a way to short cut back when ya got tired.
also there is a nice bathroom facility for u to clean off, use the restrooms, and even eat at st. joe's shack right there.
very very serene place for people who wanna get away from the chaos
