Ana's is the kind of place locals go to on a regular basis. Everyone knows everyone else's name, and they don't care if tourists like or dislike the place (and honestly, I wouldn't either. They come once and never come again). But anyhoo, I love the place. It's great, the people are nice, and it's a fun atmosphere.
I usually go on trivia night wednesdays. That's always fun. :) The drinks are cheap, lots of seating, it's a good deal. I just wish it was closer to Napa where I live! -

This place kicked us out because they thought we were under 21. I am 27. The waitress did not want to check my id rather she said she was kicking us out because of ABC law. I questioned ABC law and eventually left because it wasn't worth my time to listen to her lie to us.
My friend had already ordered a beer and she took the beer and took his money.
The waitress did not care that we were of age or that we paid money. Instead she kicked us out. This place is ridiculous and should be shut down.
I will never come here again and will tell everyone I know NOT to come to this shitty bar. -

Places like these definitely rely on the company that you're with. It is apparently a hotbed for restaurant industry folks as it's one of the few places open late into the night. Was at Meadowood for the Enrique Olvera (from Pujols in Mexico City) dinner and ended up hanging out with is awesome sous chef Kavita (who worked at El Bulli up until their closing). What started as a ton of wine and many gin&tonics morphed into trekking over to Ana's. Beers abound watching Chef Olvera mack on the local women dancing in front of what is appropriately a huge mural of Frieda Kahlo. Late night drinks, locals are friendly, and loud ass music. Something a sleepy tourist/wine driven town needs.

The bartenders here are angry, arrogant and atrocious. The drinks are overpriced and I suspect they might substitute well liquor for brand name if you are not watching.
Ana's truly sucks, is one of the few places open at night in Saint Helena and should shut down sooner. -

THIS PLACE WAS BOMB-ASS!
like after a week of eating super fancy food & wayyyy too much wine, ana's is what we really needed.
awesome beer, cool dive-y setting, & made-to-order tacos!
fried fish! fried shrimp! & carnitas!!! my dad even got two sliders which were realllly good. i am so glad we went here. it is a place that i would go every time i'm in wine country. just what we needed.
the ceiling is cool too -

Shopping day with the girls and stopped in Ana's to use the restroom. Bartender (Melissa and lip piercings galore), told us we needed to make a purchase in order to use the restroom. I get that she is probably asked that 100 times a day, but when we said "Or you can be really nice and just let us use it" she said "Or, you can just F*$@ off!" Took a double take to see if that's really what she said and she repeated "Yes, I said you can just F*$@ off". Classy. Not sure why this place is in the middle of a tourist town when they clearly hate tourists. Can't believe they can stay in business treating people this way.

GREAT TIP-
if your just doing a day of shopping downtown and want to use some free wifi this is a great spot. most of the time i get my food and drinks from other places so take advantage of this tip. just sit out on the ledge right out front of ana's and sit back and relax and take in the day. just by sitting out front i was able to get the use of everything my ipod touch had to offer for quite some time.
if it's night time and the ladies are out screw the wifi and head inside for a drink or 4! -
Review from Lisa T.

Okay, first off, Ana's gets 3 starts just because it's the ONLY bar in downtown (or any part of) St. Helena. St. Helena is SNOB-BY. Like, you can't fool me, wine people... I know SOME of you like a cold brewski now and then... And Ana's is where you get it. What if Ana left you?
You'd be screwed. So 3 stars just for being there.
Extra star for the bartender, who is SO. GORGEOUS. I don't know if SHE is Ana or not, but she's definitely the queen of this castle. And let me just be totally clear -- I am 100% heterosexual, in LOVE with SuperBF. But it's REALLY hard not to stare at hot girl bartender.
I would totally trade my looks with her. In a heartbeat (to quote my homophobic ex).
Now... Now is when I admit that this is probably a higher rating than this place deserves. For a bar that charges $5 for a pint of anything, and plays really bad loud music... But this is it for St. Helena. And I'm just happy to know there are people in this town that would actually request Tony! Toni! Tone! -
Review from Julia G.
If you're staying in St. Helena and want to go out for some bar hoppin' fun then, well, tough cookies; Ana's Cantina is the ONLY bar! That doesn't mean you still can't have fun, though, because Ana's is the place to be in this small town.
There were a lot of people here with a live band jazzing up all the patrons. People were dancing and having a good time. Prices are through the rough since they're the one and only; they really take advantage of that fact. If you can suck that up then you'll think it's worth it! -

I would love to love this bar.. I do like the dollar bills on the ceiling, and the eclectic mix of people, but I didn't like:
The dick head bartender.. I know that I'm a tourist, but please don't talk to me like I'm stupid.. We do have bars in Texas.
The uber loud music.. Seriously, the place is not that big and the band stands right in the middle of the floor space and wails.. Loudly..
The lack of seating.. There were a couple of tables along the side wall, and a few stools at the bar. That was it.. So forget getting drunk and having a seat..
As this was my first trip to Napa, and I don't know when I'll be going back, I might try to find a different bar next time. -

Anna's is a terrific place to regroup after a day spent drunkenly wandering from tasting room to tasting room.
The guacamole is tasty, the food is good and a meal here won't break the bank. -

I love Ana's!
I love the tourists who come to Ana's and act a fool while they are on vacation.
I also love the bartenders...they are hilarious.
Great drink prices, great beer selection (most on tap too!), fun live bands and a great atmostphere! -
Review from Meena N.
This is definitely a cool place to hang out. The bartenders are really nice and cool and the atmosphere is very fun. The jukebox usually always has credits (someone else puts in) and it's fun to pick a song to your own liking. Sometimes there's live music, sometimes karaoke and other times DJ's. They have different events for different nights.
If you're here and spending the night, definitely check Ana's Cantina out. Dance, drink, shoot some pool and have a good time. I went to school not to far from here, and this place is the closest chill spot. Either way, I've enjoyed my times at this joint. -

Anna's is great.
I came out from Chicago to visit a friend who lived in the Valley, twice in 4 months actually.
She was something of a regular here and we always had good times.
Fond memories indeed. -

Nice place to come after winery tour. The band playing while we were here (Papa Joe and the New Deal) were awesome. They had folks dancing, jumping, grinding...then going outside for a cigarette. LOL. Bar had standard selection of alcohol. Kitchen close too early. Otherwise, cool spot to chill.

Nice dive bar. Great break from the over priced winery tasting. Locals playing a dice game at the bar, Players on each end. People watching at its best!

Watch your money at this bar, I went her after the Giants game and ordered a round for myself a two friends. My total bill was $19.00 and I gave a $4.00 tip. I wake up the next morning to find a total of 4 transactions my original purchase of $23.00 and 2 charges for $38.00 and even one for $58.00! WTF I said so I walked down to the bar in the am to encounter some pierced b#%^h who showed me the reciepts, none of which had my signature on them! I have filed a fraud alert with my bank and Maatercard but will have to wait up too 120 days to get my money back! Do yourself a favor and stay away from these crooks! Karma is a bitch.... If I could give no stars I would....

Ask Cat to make one of her kamikazi...she will put what ever flavor vodka she is in the mood for...always just the right balance of alcohol, sweetness and sour. You can also get Blue Moon, Fox Hole Cider or Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap! (and plenty of others too.)
I've been going here since I was a wee lass....so it has a special place in my heart.-EFK -

This was a basic local bar but it's no longer a restaurant, at least not at this time. I was hoping for some Mexican snacks but that wasn't happening.
The one thing you must do is ask the bartender how the dollars got on the ceiling. It will cost you a buck but it goes to charity so it's worth it, and it's fun -

I didnt eat. I sat on a bar stool and drank a few drafts. The bartendress (is that a word) was very nice and personable. Only downside is a minimum of $20 on credit cards. Otherwise the place is what it is. a bar.

The only reason I deducted a star was because of the hard places to put your stuff and the sometimes scary guys just lurking the corner, but head here on a Thursday night for some Kareoke and dancing.
Went here plenty of times during my time in college and always had fun with friends. The place can get pretty crowded, but everyone's here just to have fun. -

This place was hilarious on Thursday nights when CIA students from the St. Helena campus descended on it. Drinks weren't cheap, but the pool table was, and karaoke's always fun. Next morning's 7 a.m. class, though, was not so good. : (

Bobby Byrd has a song called "I Know You Got Soul" that in a way most aptly applies to my feeling about this large room where alcohol is served. I am sorry I can't call this a bar or my relationship with my most favorite establishments may be tarnished forever. It is not a very complicated song, the main lyrics are "I know you got soul or else you wouldn't be here." The exact opposite is how I feel about Ana's, if you have any soul you should never ever go there, it has all been scrubbed away with preppy/rich-kid vomit, if it ever had any to begin with.

This is a throwback to another era. Love it. Much as I like St. Helena and its classy businesses, there are times that a sleazy bar just feels right. Might mention also that the barmaid was gorgeous in contrast to the decor which was not.

Awesome place. The bartender let us come in to charge my phone when it was dying and even let me use her phone. I liked the dollars on the ceiling.

So for my friend's 21st birthday, we went out to the one and only bar in St. Helena. There were a big bunch of locals and a group of kids from the CIA hanging out. It was a Thursday night so karaoke was going on. The bartender let my friend go behind the bar and gave us free drinks for her birthday. This is a cool place to chill with friends and grab a drink in St. Helena.

The only normal/layman's place in the posh but quaint town of St. Helena. They've got a pool table and you can play games for a $1. The beer is cheap.

A favorite of certain locals and what younger set there is in St. Helena. I have lived in the Napa Valley three seperate times, years apart, and each time I've had a different perspective and different strange times at Ana's. Once, I got a friend who is pretty much the exact opposite of Sir-Mix-A-Lot to sing a lovely karaoke rendition of Baby Got Back, the crowd went wild! I can only faintly remember the competition that ensued of desperately sung early 90's songs trying to beat that Butt, to no avail.
I hear that they have food at Ana's, but I never met enyone who has eaten it. Here people pretty much drink beer and do shots, maybe have a margarita or two. Don't expect some fancy Wine Country scene and you'll have a fine time in a valley not known for it's night life.
(There used to be the equivalent of a bar crawl for St. Helena [two whole bars] when the 1351 Lounge was still rockin' but alas the Lounge is no more. The Lounge had some of the best cocktails I've ever had. It was like a little wormhole to NYC, great drinks, long narrow bar, great bartenders with plenty of attitude. I remember the good old days of the friendly war between the Lounge and Ana's, ahhhh...the days of yore.)
Extra props to Ana's for being the first bar I ever attempted to sneak into underage (back in the day when I was doing my externship from cooking school at Tra Vigne when Michael Chiarello was still the chef). Yes, up until I left for New York and cooking school I was a newbie to just about everything :). -

Saint Helena, CA
This place is, as yelp might say, a-ok. Of course if you were the only girl in town all the boys would think you were a-ok too. Let's face it, this is a farming community, with really wealthy farmers. When you do the same things with the same people at the same places over and over and over, you start to itch for a little change here and there. This is where those people go to spice things up a bit. Real rebels. It's a solid place to have some beers and bar food. Nothing wrong with Ana's at all. It's a-ok. Look into Pancha's in Yountville.

Ok, you're in the Napa Valley either as a tourist or local, looking for something to do. You've got three choices beyond the usual wineries, a lunch spot, or a dinner restaurant: Uva in Napa for a little Jazz; smokey pool at anti-swank Panchas in Yountville; or Anna's in Saint Helena, a little bit of pool, cheap drinks, kareoke, occasional bands, and often a dj for dancing. Drunk wedding party? Here's your place. Be careful for the hyper-vigilant Saint Helena kindergarden cops, specializing in DUI. Be wary of Anna's bathrooms too, easily the most foul in the Valley. However, the place is fun and typically rife with good bartenders, both friendly and attentive. It's a genre. Here's a footnote too: right now one of Tra Vigne's former chefs is cooking tapas style lunches/early dinners. Everything's under $10. A steal, not to mention tasty, but it's only three days a week.

Meadow Vista, CA
At first I liked this bar. Ok crowd, ok music, well decorated etc. The bartender on the other hand ruined my experience completely. After I realized the waitress cleared our table, taking my unfinished drink, I went to the bar to reorder. I told the bartender that I thought my drink was taken before I was finished. He said I'd have to buy another. Which I agreed to do. Then he poured me a glass of wine. I handed him my card. He said there was a $20 minimum and I agreed. Before I could even order a round for my friends (to make it $20), he took away my wine and set it by the register and ignorned me! What is that all about? RUDE! I tried to get his attention, he helped someone else. Then I demanded his name. With a bad attitude he said didnt have to tell me his "fucking" name! I later went to the bouncer finding his name was CHRIS. I stood there in shock because I don't think I have ever been spoken to so rudly as a paying customer. I decided to use my camera phone to take a picture of this mean guy! In doing so he proved how much of an asshole he really was by flipping me off for his picture!
I will never return, and plan on bad mouthing this establishment. This place must have made $10,000 easy that night, following a "Cheers, St. Helena" evening. Which explains why they don't care to piss off one two or even five customers a night. This place is filled with young yuppy snobs that spend daddy's money. Gladly I see I am not the only one complaining about rude bartenders at this place. -

Marin County, CA
we came in here on a monday after a 4 hour dinner at Cindy's Backstreet - they were cool until we bought the last pitcher at 1:30 and then swooped in 10 minutes later to grab our remaining beers and kick us to the curb. our nyc cohort threw some good old fashion attitude their way: "yeah it was real fuckin' easy for you to sell us that pitcher, but now we can't even finish our drinks before it's 2am?? wtf???!!" etc etc. i say get an earlier start at this place. it's basically the only thing open in town. they probably don't care for marinites and new yorkers wailing about french vineyards while drinking miller. fuck 'em.

Review from Tim M.
Saint Helena, CA
Not only is this place a total shit hole, the clientele are among Saint Helenas "finest". This place does not serve food which especially sucks because there isn't anything open within 30 miles late at night. Watch out for the bar-tender Miguel, he's a true a-hole. He will let you know if you forget to tip, believe me. I don't know the other bar-tenders name but he is also a SOB. And don't even think about having a decent game of billiards here, the cues hit the walls on every shot. God I hate this place, and you will too. Hope somebody takes this place over and makes the necessary changes, because this town needs a good place to drink and eat late at night.

I give 2 stars because I have been there on two occasions. First time it was great, played a game of pool, visited with friends. Good drinks, good service from the bartender. Male appx 40 years old or so. Other night we went in there and there was a younger female bartender. Terrible service, looked at my ID for a good minute before returning it. She was terrible, and I was looking for that older male bartender to help me out...but he wasnt around that night. If this establishment wants to do better, get rid of that stuck up bartender. I will not be returning.

i like ana's. i like it because on the first night i stepped into the place i couldn't manage to open the door, and none of the regulars or the bartender laughed at me. after placing my drink order, every time i went back to the bar, the girl working knew exactly what i wanted. i managed to (without spending much) get drunk enough to sing karaoke (a first for me), not once, but 3 times that night. go there.

great neighborhood bar, always reliable for a cold beer, friendly service and they even take credit cards! the only downside is that it turns into a complete zoo for karaoke thursdays. just imagine being in an elevator with 30 people except that they are all sweating and dancing and instead of muzak it's bad karaoke and you have a sense of the scene on thursdays at ana's. but the other 6 days of the week it's much better.
