Flower Mound, TX
This is one of the better non-corporate chain Eateries in flower mound.
The shrimp enchiladas are outstanding!
The Cowboy is a good mix of items with the brisket taco being the best.
Chips are great and salsa is just so-so.
The rice is very bland....c'mon Anamias, get a recipe for rice!
Good service, long waits on weekends. -

Whether it's a long day and you want to happy hour with friends, or catch the who's who of Flower Mound, or enjoy a great meal with the family, Anamias' is a perfect choice. The Tortilla Soup oozes with cheese and large fresh chunks of avacado, or if you just want a snack, my favorite is the Fajita Nachos! I dare you to taste one of their frozen margarita's just beware, they are dangerous!
Happy Eating :) -

Unless they are SUPER packed, the service is always excellent. The food is really great, the salsa is really good, they're really good at keeping up with the chip refills, and water gets filled frequently. I come here about once a week and split Steak nachos and a Javier with my boyfriend. Have yet to be dissatisfied.

The waiters know you by name, the food is fabulous, and the atmosphere is good for Flower Mound. Margaritas rock!!

Heard a ton of great things about this place and since it was so close to home I decided to stop in one day and eat a salad and have a famous Margarita. The taco salad was pretty good, the service was marginal and the Margarita was decent. I think they think a little too much of their margs because I have had better at many places and they didn't even have a happy hour and other places such as Agave Azul do. I would give a 2-3 rating...prob a 3 is fair though.

Used to love their table side gaucomole!
This is not a place for vegetarians! We ordered chimichanga, tostadas and chillie reno pepper. The waiter said they can make it as veggie dishes. We always say no meat, no chicken and no fish:)
When we received the dishes, soup and tostadas had bacon in them and waiter didn't even care to apologize. I have always been to Anamia's in Southlake and they have a good service.
I wouldn't recommend the one in Flower Mound if you are a vegetarian. -
Review from Susan W.
Went here for dinner last night while on a layover in Dallas. My cousin lives in Lewisville & he rescued me from eating at the hotel or gas station Whataburger.
We started with the table side guacamole. The cart is wheeled out with a basket of about 100 avocados, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapenos & onions. They make it to your request of spiciness. Me I'm a spicy girl so we got it spicy. Could have used a touch more salt & lime juice.
My cousin had a vegetarian chimichanga that covered his plate! I had the Cowboy combo subbing the beef enchilada for a chicken enchilada. The beef brisket taco was excellent & the pork tamale the best tamale I've ever had!
I would have had another nice cold Negro Modelo to wash down my tasty meal but the waiter didn't check back in time. :(
It was a nice night to sit on the patio. Too bad the view is just of the parking lot.
Look forward to going back again!! :) -

Table side Guacamole is the bomb. Margaritas on the rocks are better than average. I've had better beef fajitas, but the rest of the sides were spot on. The bean soup was AMAZING! I could've eaten just a large bowl of that and been way happy.
Patio is very nice, bar area is very nice. -
Review from Brad S.
I know where I'm going back.
So I have been trying out the Mexican places here in Flower Mound since we got here a little under a year ago. For the most part the places we have tried have either been "meh" or "eeww" This place uses real avocados to make their guac, not mayonnaise like some of the other places.
Mine was the burrito plate, and it was yummy, I got the chili "Make it spicy" and that is the plate that I've been looking for since i got here.
My wife got one of the mix plates with a cheese enchilada and taco ... the cheese sauce is the reason they don't get 5 stars, while it wasn't completely nasty it is something that I recommend you avoid, esp if you get a cheese enchilada (I love cheese but seriously the chili made for a better combination)
Anyway, this place I will be going back to. the atmosphere is a very nice, and only has two TVs so it isn't trying to also be a sports bar.
I really like this place, kudos to these peps. -

I've been to the Anamia's in Coppell a handful of times, and I finally made it to the Anamia's in FloMo.
I learned from my last sad lunch experience that their cheese enchiladas are served with a meat sauce... so this time, I ordered the cheese enchilada lunch with queso instead of con carne. And it really made all the difference. Yes, it was a cheese enchilada covered with cheese, so what could go wrong?
Service was good, even though they were packed.
My next order here is going to be cheese enchiladas covered with ranchero sauce instead of queso or con carne. I think that would be an interesting experiment.
Oh, and as always: Their tableside guac is delicious. Huge huge serving, and this time I was smart enough to order "mild" instead of "medium". No painful seed-filled jalapenos peppered throughout. Chip refills were abundant and drink refills were fairly prompt.
Do expect a wait at peak times though: This is a small restaurant! -

I've been a big fan of Anamias since they opened in a tiny place in Coppell.
Everything on the large menu is great, from the table side guacamole, chips, great salsa, brisket tacos, and so many other dishes. Oh and the margaritas are outstanding as well as the service.
I have been to all of the best texmex places in the area and none hold a candle to Anamias in my opinion! -

I came here last summer and asked for Vegetarian options...but the staff wasn't being very helpful. So I ordered their Spinach Enchiladas anyway.
Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I had been working at the LEGENDARY Pappasito's Cantina at the time, but I wasn't insanely impressed with the Enchiladas I had.
Nonetheless, it was OKAY. -

Flower Mound, TX
Great place, great atmosphere. Tableside guacamole is choice. I always have Rickeys Tacos, which are chicken tacos sauteed in a chili garlic sauce and have some serious heat. The wife and kids always have chicken fajita tacos or brisket tacos. Only knock would be its a bit loud for me.
Go early, there is a wait on almost any given night! -

Love their chunky salsa. Service was decent.
The shrimp enchilada is pretty good. Comes with a bean soup that is also pretty good. I put the rice in the soup so it absorbs all the flavor.
The margarita is very potent. You've been warned.
Will RTE to try other stuff. -
Review from Jordan T.
I have been to this location on several different occasions. Last night I went because I needed some comfort food. I went around 8pm. Not very crowded, but that's kind of to be expected on a Monday night. We order the table side quac. Anamia's is not fucking around the quantity of guacamole they serve as an appetizer. Its not so much a bowl of it but a giant vat. I was like, there is no way my boyfriend and I are going to get through this thing! Then of course, about 10 minutes later...gone. Its just that good.
I had my favorite thing to order at Anamia's, the chicken fajita quesadillas. I like how the tortilla is crispy and buttered. All the ingredients inside of it are really fresh. I slather to quesadillas in even more guac and sour cream. Oh so good. My bf had the steak fajitas. Also steaming hot and delicious.
I order a swirl because whats a meal without the booze right? The swirls here are really good. I like that the sangria is traditional and they don't add any funky flavors to it like raspberry. Our meal was about 45 dollars. Service was good as usual.
My family comes to this location for birthday parties sometimes. They can easily accommodate large groups and the servers always do a good job with my giant family. This place is nice, yet low key - an excellent Flower Mound treat.Listed in: Nacho Nacho Man

This is my first review on the good ole Yelp. I have done my fair share of reading reviews and now it's time to give back. Or at least that's what my crazy, yelper husband thinks. Anyway, enough about that and on to food.
This place is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. I could eat their brisket tacos for every meal. It's that good. The beef brisket is juicy and you can see the flavor dripping out of the taco when you pick it up. The melted cheese and grilled onions are delicious. The chips and salsa are amazing, which is very telling for a Tex-Mex place. If the chips and salsa aren't good you might as well go home. Rice and beans are something to write home about and the table side guac will make you want to cry (Angela). Oh and their tortilla soup, how could I forget the tortilla soup? This you have got to try, it's amazing.
The moral of this story is go to freakin' Anamia's you babies and get some real Tex-mex. -

Double Oak, TX
So we were told that this place was really good, but we didn't know that there was one in our area. Once we found that we had one close, we decided to go. The inside looks nice and there is a bar area that you can drink at. Also there is a patio area that people can eat outside.
We ordered the Guacamole that you can get made at your table and GOOD LORD it was huge! Most places just bring out a few ingredients and put them together in some sort of mush that they mix and call it done. This place is totally different. They have this nice setup that bring out and you can tell them to put more of whatever ingredient you want. Once they put everything in the bowl, it's mixed up very well where everything seems equally distributed. Very nice. the salsa wasn't too spicy but had a good flavor to it.
I base all my Tex-Mex restaurants on 1 thing...how well they can make an enchilada. If they can't do that, then chances are they can't make anything else right. So they bring out my order and it looks good. Doesn't look like they just slopped on the food plate. The rice looks good and the beans are not runny.
Now the taste. Well I have to say, I wasn't too impressed with the enchiladas. They were really greasy and the tortilla they were wrapped in was a little tough. The beans really didn't have any flavor to them and I'm not a fan of the style of beans they use. The rice was good and seemed to be cooked well.
Service wasn't bad at all, other than the fact that we had a LOT of Guacamole left and never got a refill of chips. This could have been due to the fact that they had two big parties come in at once and got pretty busy with them. Drink refills were good and didn't take long to get.
So you may be asking why I gave it such a high rating when I didn't like what I got? Well I did like the Guacamole a lot and the food that I got, although greasy and a little tough, was good tasting. Also there looked like a lot of other good food that I plan on trying out. My wife got the Fajita's and they were really good. So with all that, I plan on going back. -

This review is for the TAKE-OUT only:
I was a bit worried about getting take-out from this place because I freakin LOVE Anamia's. It is definately one of the best Tex-Mex places in Dallas, and sometimes take-out tends to be a little sloppy, with no attention to detail. Anyways, Ana did not let me down. This place is so good. My wife thinks this location is better than my own stand-by in Coppell, but I don't know for sure since I have only had the take-out here. Anyways, I haven't had the Brisket tacos for a while here, so I decided to order them again. BAM BABY! Sooooooo Good! They are juicy, full of flavor, and all-out marvelous. People go on (including me) about Mia's Brisket tacos, but these can stand up to them for sure (the only edge Mia's has is that wonderful gravy). If I lived in Flower Mound, this would probably be one of the only place I would eat.
Minus a star because the groud beef taco was not all I know it can be with the dine-in, and they stiffed me with the salsa, and only filled the small little take-out container halfway. Boo! The only other problem with take-out is if you don't pick it up quick enough the lettuce can get a little wilted. Still the food is really great. -

I usually dine at the Southlake location, so I thought the Anamia's in Flower Mound would be safe. Was I wrong! I ordered the Jay's Tacos. An item I have enjoyed for well over 10 years. The beans were weird looking, and basically had a lot of onions and very little beans in them. The "fixings" of lettuce, avocadoes, and tomatoes, ugh, where do I begin. The lettuce was old and stale. Ruining the whole thing, however, was the fact that for some reason they put salad dressing on what I usually add to the tacos for added flavor. I asked the waiter about the dressing, he blinked twice, and then told me that is how they always prepare the "salad." Turns out he has only worked there for a month. The mexican rice was in the form of a scoop (reminds me of a middle school cafeteria) and totally inedible. Walked away feeling ripped off. I guess my first warning should have been the speed that lunch was prepared. From order to food being on my table took all of 5 minutes. Made me wonder if it was pre-prepared. Would definitely say "avoid, and go to the Southlake location if you enjoy Anamia's."

Anamias - Bland City on August 16, 2009
Anamia's is a popular local place because of its sheer location, right between several middle-upper subdivisions in Flower Mound. The first thing you will notice upon walking in is how LOUD the place is. While there is a high ceiling, the tables and booths are jammed so tight that even an early lunch will find you screaming to be heard at your table, especially when they crank up the music. Yes, there is a "patio" if your thing is watching cars park in hundred degree heat - at least you can hear your conversation during a meal out there.
But the food is nothing to write home about. It is every bit like El Chicos combined with On The Border, except more bland. The service can be iffy - fine one day and listless the next. The cheese sauces are like Velveeta with one pepper per gallon. The traditional Tex-Mex is predictable, bland, without any range.
The alcoholic drinks seem to suffer from a wide variation - you will notice more people cozy up to the bar than going to booths, I think it is to insure the drinks are strong enough by directly addressing the bartender. The people-watching here at the bar is perhaps the most interesting thing about Anamias - the happy hour crowd is quite obviously where the boss takes the young assistant to get tanked before reporting in to the wife, and the beautiful people get especially loud vying for attention there. It can be quite the circus on a Friday evening, especially if you get a booth where you can see the bar clearly.
The overall impression here is - this place is the Mexican food version of the Chili's across the street (even though Brinker owns both Chilis and On The Border). Its a family place that seems to aim at being as bland and as crowded as possible. You could hit any one of a dozen places in Flower Mound - corporate and non-corporate - and find the same fare. Come prepared to find children and geriatrics screaming equally loud to be heard by their families and the service staff.

Great mexican restaurant - and Mexican isn't usually on the top of my list! Salsa is great - not too much cilanto which I hate - hence why Mexican is not usally on the top of my list and it's hot enough to know it but not so hot I can't eat it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the brisket tacos.
VERY loud when busy so just 4 stars. -

Flower Mound, TX
Poor experience here, haven't been back. The place was busy on the weekend so we were only given the option to eat outside. Unfortunately it was cooler than usual that night and even though they had 3 patio heaters right next to us, it took them about 20 minutes and several requests to get them turned on. Waiter barely checked in on us. Sadly, I don't remember the food.

Highly overrated. Food was greasy and a bunch of parents sitting their kids on the bar as we are eating. WTF? Great service, cold beer but will not go back.

True tex-mex, seriously good food. My family gets major cravings for their fabulous table-side guacamole. The fajita nachos are awesome and the spinach and chicken enchiladas can't be beat. They also have big baskets of old school pecan pralines in plastic wrap by the entrance - buy one for a snack later, you'll be too full for dessert!

Granbury, TX
Wow... this place is GOOOD. The food is really delicious and the margaritas are to die for. I am in love with their tamales, cheese enchiladas, and their fajitas are divine. I am loving their hot sauce which is just slightly hotter than your average Mexican food places. The only problem with this place is that EVERYBODY loves it and it just isn't quite big enough for us all :D Parking is difficult even though their lot is pretty darn big and you usually have to wait at dinner time on ANY day a bit cause everybody crowds in for the fantastic food. Anamia's is no secret. All in all, despite my abhorance of crowds- you will find me there waiting cause the food is just THAT good! Oh and BTW.. try their coconut ice cream with a shot of some sort of coffee liqueur to top it off. It is fantastico!

I am very picky about Mexican food, as I grew up in San Antonio. This place is the best I have had yet in the DFW area. I have visited both Coppell and Flower Mound and they are equally great! The guacamole made at your table is a must have!!!

This place is ok. I would recommend going to Mi Cocina in Highland Village over this place. I had a margarita that was not mixed well. The food was very bland, equivalent to Taco Bueno. And the dinners do not come with rice and beans, I thought most dinners came with that on the side? The hot sauce is good I guess, that's about the best thing there.

Denton, TX
The food was great and well presented, someone has done a design on the plates so they look as good as they taste. Service was very good, but I'm writing this review to rave about the flan. My wife and I love good flan and this was at least as good as any we've ever had. They put a twisted orange slice on top and the very slight touch of orange in the flavor of each bite was simply terrific. Not sickly syrupy sweet like so many places. We'll go back often just for the flan when we're not up for a huge dinner. We took home enough for a full meal after eating ourselves stuffed.
