San Diego, CA
I love Anamia's! Every time I come back to Coppell, I have to stop by Anamia's because it is so good.
If you go to Anamia's during lunch hour, 11:30-1pm, expect a rush of people. I went there during my lunch break when I worked in Coppell, and it was difficult to get in and out of there quickly, but that's expected with Anamia's. Also, Friday or Saturday dinner 6-7:30 is also crowded.
There's a reason why its so crowded. The service is great, there are always refills on water and on chips and salsa. The tableside guacamole is amazing. You can choose how spicy you want it to be and what ingredients you want in it. Not only does it taste amazing, but they give you a lot of guacamole. It is seriously really good and something everyone needs to try!
Whenever I go I order the Javier - which are chicken and spinach enchiladas with sour cream sauce. They are bomb. Their enchiladas are really good. The chicken tortilla soup is good too.
The food comes out very fast. The place itself is cute, there are booths and big tables too. Probably one of the only good restaurants in Coppell. -

Coppell, TX
After years of not really liking their food, my wife and I stopped in for a quick meal before the evening rush... although it took them sometime to figure out who our waiter would be ( I had to raise my hand to get someone's attention) the food was wonderful... we had some sizzling plate for two... Be far the best food We have ever had at Anamia's
Again the wait staff was confused and it took quite a while to order... but our experience was much better this time! -
Review from Jeff J.
The brisket tacos were pretty good, but nowhere near as mouthwatering as many other reviews have suggested. i ordered a platter and I found everything a bit heavy. It's decent, but it just has a chain-vibe, and not necessarily in a good way.

We've been regulars are Anamias Tex-Mex for about 2 years. The dining experience is very much like a Cantina Laredo or Fernando's; the kind of middle-class Mexican restaurant, but not too pricey. There aren't many restaurants in Coppell, but this is one of the best and definitely the best Mexican food in the area.
The table top guacamole is phenomenal. They usually have the same guy making it every week and he's a guacamole god almost like he was born in the pit of an avacado. I've tried multiple meals at Anamias and have never been disappointed.
On Friday's you have to be there around 5:30 or you'll be waiting for about an hour in a packed waiting room.
Some recommendations:
-Did I say table top guacamole?
-Poblano a la Parrillo (Poblano pepper stuffed with meat, I had the brisket)
-Brisket Tacos
-Cheese Enchiladas w/ chili con carne
-Enchiladas Verdes -
Review from Kate R.
This time, my memories of Anamia's weren't clouded by a particularly strong margarita, so I can actually better remember things like where the door was. And what food tastes like.
Really, I was just craving guacamole. Again. Damn I eat too much of that stuff. Well, the boyfriend is anti-On The Border as he got sick there once, and I knew that Anamia's has a table side guac, too.
Their table side guac is called "Guacamole en Molcajete" which had me a little worried because I've had a molcajete sauce at a different restaurant before and it made my face melt off like the Nazi in the Indiana Jones.
BUT, it's cool. They make it all table side. They wheel up this big ass cart with all the fixin's on it. The bowl they make it in is easily twice the size as the bowl at OTB. It's not filled to the top, mind you, but there's an extra avocado in there compared to OTB's Guac Live!
So he made our guac fresh, including choosing the avocados from a huge basket and slicing them right there. Some fresh chopped onions, tomatoes, and jalapenos go in there too.. WARNING! They don't remove the seeds from their jalapenos here! He asked if we wanted it "Medium" or "Hot" and I opted for medium... and even that was a little too spicy for my wimpy wimpy wimpy mouth. Most normal humans could probably eat it just fine, but I have seriously sensitive heat-receptors apparently. Because Ow!
But I'll know for next time! And I asked for some limes after it was made as he didn't put any juice in there. But I did, and it was muuuuch improved after that. Also, it was $10 guacamole. It was a huge portion, and it can be customized to your liking, so it's worth it. If I lived right next to Anamia's, I'd consider getting it to go and eating it at home with my own chips...
The chips were just okay.. They had kind of a strange flavor to them- like maybe the oil they were cooked in wasn't that great? I still ate them, as they weren't off putting enough to refuse... The salsa was alright, but improved by another squeeze of lime.
Now, honestly, I should have just had the guac for lunch. But I thought since I had the boyfriend with me, he would stare at me crazy if I just ate a gigantic bowl of guacamole. So I got the #1 Lunch Special (2 cheese enchiladas, rice, beans) and he got a cup of tortilla soup and a chicken taco salad.
My enchiladas were a surprise.. they were covered in thick chile con carne instead of the queso I expected. Now that's my fault- I didn't ask. But the menu didn't specify which topping. I'll know for next time, so it's no big deal. I ate one enchilada, some rice, and some beans. The beans had a decent flavor, but the rice wasn't anything special.
Boyfriend said soup and salad were just "Eh". The soup looked good from my side of the table, and full of cheese to boot. The salad was $8, and he said it wasn't worth it. The portion size was quite large, but he said that didn't make up for the blandness of the salad. Our waiter offered Ranch or Italian dressing... on a taco salad?? Boyfriend opted to pour salsa on it instead. The chicken on it certainly looked good, but the big taco shell it was served in was kind of gross (I broke off a piece to try it)..
We ended the meal with sopapillas. Which were a great deal at only $2.50 for 3 `pillas. The honey was served in individual packets, so no gross and sticky squeeze bottle-- Hooray! Had to ask for butter, but it was delivered quickly.
Service was alright. The guac was spicier than I expected, so I went through a TON of water.. and between all of the servers that passed us, my glass was refilled frequently by many different people.
Shortly after we were seated and got waters though, the boyfriend got a work phone call he had to take. I sat at the table by myself for 10 minutes and the waiter never walked over and asked if I wanted to start with some queso or guac-- which I certainly did. It was only after the boyfriend got back did he stop by again. Which is obnoxious because the waiter was standing nearby and could see me sitting there alone. He was just out of range for me to get his attention, though.
Overall, I'd come back to Anamia's for a huge ass portion of guacamole, sans spicy seedy jalapenos, add a few squeezes of lime!Listed in: Best Local spots, The Great Enchilada Quest of…

Brilliant menu...however this is my fav for ordering nothing but appetizers!
Table-side guaco is some of the best around.......the queso con chorizo is one of thee best appetizers in town, wherein it starts as a large gooey glop of cheese and crispy-cooked ground chorizo is folded in and the entire blob is cut and fed into fresh flour tortillas El Yummo (Spanish for really really good).
I get into a real rut at Anemia's and it is one I do not wish anyone to help me out of.......Guaco.....Queso con Chorizo....and a huge bowl of the Metro-plex's BEST Tortilla Soup!!! Yaya the brisket tacos are the best around.....I know but leave me alone in my appetizer-Anamia rut! -

Carrollton, TX
After having several people suggest that I try Anamia's, my girlfriend and I tried it out. I broke down the different aspects of my experience below:
Decor: Based on their location in a strip mall, I had a preconceived notion that this place was a dive. But I couldn't have been farther off. The restaurant was decorated well and was extremely nice for a Mexican restaurant.
Service: The service was amazing. The waitress did a great job and the other servers working with her on top of things as well.
Food: We had Kelly's Queso, Ribeye Fajitas, and Fish Tacos.
Kelly's Queso - A mix of queso, guacamole, and ground beef. Extremely tasty but was served to us barely warm. If it would have been hot it would have been some of the best queso I have ever had. However, I wanted to note that my girlfriend was fine with the temperature of the queso.
Ribeye Fajitas - The ribeye fajitas were pretty straight forward. Fajitas made with ribeye rather then your typical skirt or flank steak. They came with a mountain of grilled vegetables (Onions, zuccini, pobalnos, mushrooms, carrots, celery, and squash). The meat was cooked well and the flavor was good.. In the future I will probably stick with normal beef fajitas though.
Fish Tacos - Disgusting. Absolutely terrible. I'm not sure if the fish was bad or if it was just cooked/seasoned improperly. We should have sent it back but the fajitas were more then enough to share after the huge bowl of queso.
All in and all it was an ok meal, besides the fish tacos, but I don't know if I will go back. There are too many other great Mexican options in the area that I would rather have. I will say that this place was packed for a Wednesday night. I might need to give it a second chance. -

Lunch and Dinner are two totally different games here.
I have gone here for lunch a few times - crazy packed! They are pretty efficient tho and seem to be able to get you in and out in a reasonable time.
The lunch specials just arent that delicious - kinda bland and boring. The price is right, but just for a few dollars more, get the dinner plates and you could have a much better meal.
I have eaten dinner at other Anamia's locations and had a super yum experience. Lunch in Coppell.. not so much. -
Review from Angela B.
Food is excellent...we enjoy sitting at the bar area. Chips and Salsa are wonderful. They have a dish that it says 2 people can share...no lie...atleast 3 people can share. Rice and beans for 2, shrimp, beef, and chicken over a ton of veggies...plus tortillas, avocado, pico the works...it is a little overwhelming. Like you are on a TV show and it is a joke how much food comes to the table hahaha. If you go during peak times...you will wait...lunch specials are good prices. Enjoy!

Review from Yin L.
Freshly made chunky guacamole right in front of your eyes and crispy tortilla chips makes this place a winner! The poor guacamole maker must be exhausted from his job. I am amused at how he moves in lightning speed!
I had the combo fajitas which was like a feast for the queen! They had the tortilla, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, refried beans, rice, potatoes, bellpeppers, onions beef and chicken! Phew!!! I only managed to eat a tortilla and brought home the rest for my lunch.
Had a bite of the fish tacos but unfortunately the fish had the fishy pungent taste. *uh oh* I think it wasn't fresh.
Overall, this place serves some pretty decent food. I've had better fajitas but the fresh guacamole and the tortilla chips along with the big portion is all it takes to bring me back here. -

The first day I arrived to TX all I heard was "go to Anamia's if you are in the mood for good Mexican food" I would like to thank whoever told me that.
Food is good as if I were in Mexico.
What I loved the most is their homemade guacamole which they make right in front of you.
Another place I would visit next time I am in TX. -

Cold margaritas! Hay even the food is cold. Wtf was this cheese crap I dipped my fritos in? Red sauce tasted like wallmart tomatoe soup. 3 tacos turned into a burito. Jesus christ

Coppell, TX
Probably deserves 3.5 stars, but I settled on 3.
I had tacos al carbon which were quite good. The pico was good but a bit bland. The guacamole helping was fairly generous.
My wife ordered nachos but was unable to finish them. She detests refried beans, which were spread generously over each nacho. The beans were not mentioned on the menu. Beans may not be unusual on nachos, but they're not universal either, especially with fajita nachos. Seems like they should have been listed. I thought they were quite tasty and retained crispness despite the toppings.
Chips were good, salsa was mediocre and nondistinct. -
Review from Ashley F.
We must look like famous people or something. If not, then the service here is really top notch. We had several waiters who seemed to be tripping over eachother to serve us. Throughout the meal, it was no different - our chips never went empty, we constantly got refills, and nothing stayed on our table long enough to get cold (even after we were finished eating). The waitstaff is so nice, it almost borders on overwhelming.
The food is also quite good. It's a good thing that the salsa has a kick since otherwise it'd be more like runny tomato sauce. The chips are hot and crisp, and the queso is very different (and not super creative) but good.
The fish tacos were really tasty, and the bean soup on the side had great flavor - smokey but not over the top. The brisket tacos were pretty good, but unlike the fish tacos, didn't have a ton of flavor or seasoning.
My husband was surprised to find that his standard frozen margarita tasted far more like the prickly pear variety, and would have preferred a typical standard rita, but I had no objections - it was yummy!!!
Next time maybe we won't inhale the queso and tacos so we can try dessert. Not likely, but we'll try. -

Too expensive for Tex-mex. Once, the meal was brought to meal but was not what I ordered. I was told it had the same stuff as the meal that I had ordered and the waitress wlked away.

I've driven past Anamia's for years....but never went in because of my fear of strip-mall restaurants. So I was nervous when my co-workers took me here for lunch. But after that first trip, I've been going back ever since.
When you first walk in, the dimly-lit entry room is always full...which is usually a good sign. You're immediately pulled into the cozy bar where you can get a delicious margarita and wait for your table to be ready. Sometimes I wish we could just stay in the bar area and eat, the atmosphere is just so amazing and comfy I never want to leave.
The menu has all of the usual Tex-Mex suspects. But if you're not super hungry, I suggest getting a bowl of the chicken tortilla soup and some tableside guacamole.
Now, I consider myself to be a fresh guacamole connoisseur...and Anamia's tableside guac is some of the best I've ever had. Big plus in my book! And on this particular night the quac came in a HUGE bowl...which Matt and I dubbed the Guacano. It was overflowing in deliciousness. So for the first time in my life, I was unable to finish the quac. Matt was shocked.
The waiters are sometimes a little over-the-top cheesy, but it just adds to the loud, fast-paced Spanish villa atmosphere. The place is always packed with lively staff, tons of families, groups of women out for a ladies-night dinner, little league teams after their games...it's a true cross-section of the all-American local residents of Coppell.
So don't let the local strip mall location fool you. This isn't your usual Tex-Mex place...there's an extra flair here in the food and atmosphere. Anamia's truly does it right. And a place that makes guacamole like they do is alright in my book....my quac book that is. -

I eat here 3-4 times a month. The guacamole is the best I've ever had. I usually get the beef tacos al carbon, but the chicken fajitas are great as well.

Review from Daniel W.
I have been singing the praises of this place for too long now. Perhaps my tastes have changed, but more likely I have had enough Tex-Mex now to weed out the extraordinary from the bland and boring.
I would venture to say that Anamia's is decent sometimes, but in the past 5 or 6 visits I have eaten there, I have been let down more than I have been pleased.
Most recently, the brisket tacos were extremely bland. The meat was tough, and the cheese was almost non-existent. It didn't help that I had recently gone to Mia's, the great goddess of brisket tacos and the standard by which I judge all other feeble attempts at this Texas staple.
The salsa was weak and lacked spice. The enchiladas were typical, a little cold with dried out ground beef. The service was extremely disorganized and our orders were severly screwed up initially.
There are not many other options in Coppell, so I may return someday, but the slightly longer drive to Mia's or Desperados looks much better after eating here.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Scott P.
I'm comfortable putting my stamp of approval on this place. As far as some of the prices are concerned it's just a tradeoff for the generous amount of food you get.
The atmosphere here reminds me of Cantina Laredo, upscale look with comfortably dim lighting. When I first arrived there was music playing that reminded my of On the Border, so I had mixed feelings there. The service was good, within a minute or so of being seated I was brought chips and salsa and placed my order. He only came back twice more, to bring the meal and give a refill for my iced tea. Then again, more than that was not really necessary.
I went with the fish tacos in corn tortillas, large pieces of well seasoned tilapia with a nice orange-tinged jalapeno cream sauce. Served with sides of rice and a savory bean soup which shows they know the importance of hunks of bacon with their pintos. Slices of avocado and tomato were laid on the side.
Still plenty of things I'll be trying in the future - brisket tacos, ribeye fajitas, camarones de ajo, and brunch is served here also (on weekends). One final word about the dim lighting - the entrance to Anamia's faces southwest, so if you find yourself exiting the restaurant around mid-day you will be greeted by a blinding dose of sunlight.Listed in: The Heat is ON

Review from Preston T.
Amarillo, TX
This is definitely one of the best places to have Tex-Mex. Unfortunately, everyone has learned this pretty quickly and its almost impossible now to avoid a long wait on the weekends. Still, it's worth it.
Recently remodeled, this restaurant changed it's image just in the nick of time. Amidst the hundreds of other Tex-Mex restaurants that occupy Dallas, Anamia's stands out because of it's trendy atmosphere, ridiculously low prices, and fantastic service.
Come in for lunch and the specials start at around 5 dollars. Dinner entrees average about 8-12 dollars. Not bad at all. Order the table-side prepared guacamole. The person preparing it will ask you how you want it - chunky or smooth? Spicy or mild? You can have it the way you like it. My favorite entree is the fajitas ($10). The beef is succulent and sizzling and the rice that comes with it is moist and perfectly seasoned. Delicious.
Service is great and prices are low, but I have one huge complaint - What is up with NOT having soft drinks on tap?? They charge you almost 2 dollars per can of soda and they will continue to bring you new cans until you tell them, "No Mas". Lose count on how many sodas you've had and that's an easy way to make a bargain of a meal turn into a surprisingly expensive one.
Overall though, a great restaurant. And they know this because several more locations have opened up around the city now. If you haven't tried Anamia's yet, you're missing out. -

New to the area, and one of the most recommended places in the Coppell/VR area was Anamia's. The wife and I are probably too big of fans of Tex Mex so we had to try it out.
We went on a Tuesday at about 6pm -- there were plenty of open tables but they filled up by the time we were left. The bar area seemed like it was a pretty lively place.
We started with queso -- not the best I've ever hard, but far from the worst. Apparently the house specialty is the table-side guac -- but it seemed pricey at $10 for just 2 people.
I tried the Brisket Chile Relleno -- this was a pretty tasty meal recommended by the waiter -- excellent choice. Wife had some platter that had a chicken fajita (meh according to her) and a cheese enchilada (the chile sauce tasted like Hormel). She had a frozen house margarita -- I had one on the rocks. The frozen was definitely the way to go. We noticed one table ordered some sort of swirl margarita that looked even better -- so that's on the list for next time.
We tried the sopapillas for dessert -- these are a perfect cheap dessert for the end of a Tex Mex meal.
The service was pretty good, no complaints. The atmosphere wasn't bad. Food was pretty decent for the price. We'll be back if only because it seems to be one of the better non-chain Tex Mex places around VR/Coppell. -
Review from Trevor B.
Irving, TX
I need to air a grievance, and unfortunately for Anamia's, I am making their review page my forum. I don't like Tex Mex. The thought of enchiladas smothered in chili makes me ill. I am frustrated to discover that 95% of Mexican restaurants in the area take the easy route, using chili and Velveeta cheese to mask terrible cooking. I've never lived so close to Mexico, yet felt so far away from good Mexican food. So, due to serious philosophical disagreement, it is very difficult for me to write a favorable review of any Tex Mex restaurant. However, Anamia's got a few things right during my last visit.
PECHUGA PRIMAVERA: 4 stars. The chicken was tender, the sauteed vegetables were delicious (especially the mushrooms and zucchini). The rice was forgettable, but who needs rice when you have enough food for two meals on the skillet. The tortillas were decent standard flour. What kept this plate from 5 stars was the lack of fixins (sour cream, guacamole, pico) that come with fajita plates and the lack of seasoning on the chicken.
CHIPS: 4 stars. Corn tortilla, hot and fresh.
SALSA: 2 stars. Here is where the Tex Mex starts to show its ugly head. Standard tomato based salsa with absolutely nothing exciting added in.
FAJITA NACHOS: 2 stars. It's hard to get excited about huge slabs of chicken on stale corn chips. Oh, did I mention you'll pay $7 for 6 nachos?
QUESO: 2 stars. My one guilty Tex Mex pleasure is queso. But this queso was gross. It was more cream of chicken than cheese. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because, surprisingly, I've actually had worse.
FINAL THOUGHTS: The Pechuga Primavera was pretty decent, but it had very little "Mexican" in it. They could serve the same dish over a bed of pasta at an Italian restaurant. I'm just glad it wasn't smothered in chili. If anyone knows where I can find good Mexican food, please help. I'm so over Tex Mex. -

I'm not sure what makes "Tex-Mex" different than anything you can get at an Azteca or Mazatlan restaurant.
I've had "mexican" food in other states before, but only Texas has the audacity to claim to have fused it in a different manner than any other state has. haha, "tex-mex".
That said, Anamia's has pretty good Americanized Mexican food, but I wouldn't give it the 5 stars that everyone else is giving this place. The place isn't quite worth the price they charge. The decor and ambiance is nothing to write home about. The service is very good though, and they do a great job of taking care of the patrons.
If I could give this place a 3.5 I would, but if I had to choose between a 3 or a 4 star... well, you can tell what I chose. -
Review from Valerie M.
Dallas, TX
I love this restaurant. This place gets really busy. Busier than I've seen any place get. During the summers people are packed by the door waiting for a table. Anamia's waiters come outside and offer complimentary water or you can order a drink from the bar. Sometimes I've even seen them bring out free chips, salsa, and guacamole for all of us die hard fans waiting outside in the heat.
Now that's really taking care of customers!
I've had really good waiters and some really just ...you know... okay ones.
Usually they aren't the best because the place is packed and I'm sure they are just constantly running around. However, they do pay attention to you and acknowledge your presence.
It's really far (to me at least) but every so often I get that impulse to drive 30 minutes to Coppell to eat some amazingly authentic Tex Mex. -
Review from Dave F.
This a nice, family-oriented spot to have great, authentic Tex-Mex and even pralines! I've eaten here probably 15 times over the years as they have consistently good food and a fun atmosphere.
My favorites are the flajitas and the enchiladas verde, though you can easily eat a light meal of soup and salad as their flajita salad is great!
The place is family-oriented. If you go early, expect little kids running around like Suburbia, USA where kids runs and parents pay little attention. That's a negative, but it's their target market.
Optionally, one can enjoy a quieter meal by either eating later or eating in the bar. Don't expect gourmet, authentic Mexican food. This isn't Javier's, but it's a great little neighborhood spot!
The wine list is horrible and unless you can do KJ, I suggest their Margaritas. -
Review from Rich L.
Why was I in Coppell? And why did I get take out from Anamia's? Don't ask.
But I provided queso con chorizo (a.k.a. queso flameado), brisket tacos, and beef fajita quesadillas for my friends and we thoroughly enjoyed.
I got it to go but the joint seemed pretty cool. There were a few folks in the bar area and it had the dark cavernous southwest feel to it.
The brisket was juicy and succulent and the quesadillas beef was cooked medium well but not overdone as I find with most quesadillas. My only complaint with the queso is that it could have been served a bit hotter and meltier. But with cut-with-a-knife queso con chorizo you're pretty much taking the risk when you don't devour it immediately.
All in all ... me likey. -

I visit Coppell at least 4 times a year and I always work in a meal here.
The service is fast and efficient and the food is always consistently good. Tonight I had the Fish Tacos and a Skinny Margarita, both were excellent! I LOVE the bean soup! Slightly smokey with chunks of bacon. Who doesn't love bacon? Chips are thin and salsa is always balanced.
If you're in the area, give it a try. They have a couple of other locations as well, but I can't speak to them. -

Anamia's satisfies cravings for Dallas-style Tex-Mex. The decor is more modern, and the place is always clean. Yes, a clean tex-mex place is cause for celebration!
I put a lot of weight into the chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants, and here they are always fresh.
The margaritas are ok. Don't get me wrong, they are strong and delicious, but they are made with a margarita premix. I prefer homemade, but that's just me.
I will continue to go here for the tex-mex staples and the clean upscale atmosphere. -

This past Sunday was my first experience at Anamia's and impressed. We ordered the fresh guacamole as an appetizer and chicken tortilla soup. Both are really good. Salsas are spicy and delicious. Chips are fresh.
For entree, I had Grilled Tilapia with lime and garlic. FANTASTIC! I love the fried garlic topping.
Service was OK. Maybe I just didn't get the right server.
Would love to go back to try more entree :) -

Coppell, TX
So happy to have found Anamia's! Living in Coppell is nice, but sometimes the choices beyond chains are limiting. The food here is good - maybe not the best Tex Mex ever but - flavorful, lots of choices, and variety of offerings. All the standards are there and there are choices of shrimp enchiladas, brisket tacos, veggie burritos.
Their tableside guac is really very good and so fresh. It is $10, but there is so much, it easily serves 4 (or 2 with left overs to take home).
My favorite part is the bar - I think this may be one of the only "bars" in Coppell. It's casual, inviting, good drinks (not cheap) and lively atmosphere. Even a sign for no children in the bar area! -
Review from Mindy D.
Garland, TX
Texas residents have so many endless choices of Mexican food, so it's not often that you find one that really stands out. Anamia's is one of my top 3 without a doubt. Their complimentary chips and salsa alone are really good and their tableside guacamole appetizer is something EVERY avocado/guacamole lover has to try at some point.
The restaurant's decor and ambiance on the inside is unpredictable if you were to judge it only from the outside. It provides a dimly lit, well decorated atmosphere. Dim lighting is not my personal favorite when it comes to restaurant unless it's an incredibly romantic date (In other words, RARE occasions) but it doesn't affect how I feel about the ambiance.
Another thing to keep in mind is, if you're expecting a nice quiet conversation with your party, then this is not that place, especially during their busy times. I made the mistake of trying to have a serious conversation with a friend while sitting in a place mashed between two parties who were obviously listening in, and we were constantly being drowned out by the conversation occurring throughout the whole restaurant.
So if you're with a group of friends/business partners/family and just want to have a really good meal and fun, casual conversation, then this is definitely the place to go. -

Nice looking restaurant. Food is "acceptable." Some of the food they brought to our table was only "luke warm" and not "hot" like it should have been. I enjoyed my brisket tacos, but I didn't think anything else we ordered was exceptionally good. Also, the restaurant is super loud!

This is a really good tex-mex restaurant. I live quite far from Coppell but I work near here so I have unfortunately only been able to go during lunch but I imagine their dinner is at least equally good.
Their menu is very extensive, as long as you like some tex-mex food, there are options for everyone. Their salsa is good, not as spicy as I'd like but still good.
I usually end up eating enchilada's but their tacos and everything else I've tried is very good. This is my second favorite tex-mex restaurant, I still like Luna de Noche better but this one is really close to being as good. -

I know Anamia's is popular, and I don't think it is bad but I think the reviews on here are a little too glowing. I sometimes have a hard time deciding between star ratings for places and get swayed between a couple choices by the overall restaurant rating going in. I would say Anamia's is between a 3 and a 4 but since there are so many glowing reviews on here, I am going with a 3.
The food is above average and the service is below average. They do get busy so I would cut them some slack on the service but since they are often busy, I am a little surpirsed they don't add staff. Their chicken enchiladas, which is my go to mexican dish, were average to slightly above average.
In general, a decent Mexican food option in that area. -

I'm going to have to jump on the Tex-Mex hate train here. Tex-Mex is OK but doesn't hold a candle to true Mex. It really shouldn't be this difficult to find true Mexican restaurants in the Dallas area. I had Rickey's Tacos and they were pretty good. The meat was very well seasoned. The salsa was at least slightly spicy but seemed to be missing something. This place is probably a slight step up from 7 Salsas.
Edit: This place is pretty damn good. Either that or I'm slowly/reluctantly becoming a Texan. Service here kicks ass. -

I actually always grocery shop right across the street from Anamia's at Sprouts, but never even noticed the restaurant across the street. My friend made the suggestion, so we visited the establishment for lunch today.
It was crowded, about a 20 minute wait, which is always a plus. The staff was friendly, the salsa was spicy..excellent so far!
I ordered the fish tacos, which were actually pretty good! I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by my meal! My friend ordered one of the lunch specials, which she was happy with as well. I noticed the guacamole tray being pushed around (fresh guac made at your table), but didn't try it this time. That will have to be my appetizer when I come back.
I'm not saying that this is the best Tex Mex restaurant in DFW, but it's pretty decent. If you are hungry and happen to be in the area, it will be a nice choice. -

Ok maybe I am missing something but this menu sure looks and tastes like Mia's in Dallas. So I had to ask the manager, "Are you guys related?" He told me "No". But I still do not believe him and here are the reasons 1) Mia is the ending of Anamia, 2) the salsa tastes the same and 3)even the menu items are called the same name. With that said if they are taking notes from Mia's then it is a good thing.
Tex-Mex in Dallas is very competitive and there are many places to choose from but I will have to say that Anamias is above average. -

Great Tex-Mex in the heart of Coppell! This one is in our regular rotation. A lot of nights will drive by and see if there's a wait. If there's not, we'll stop in, and if there is, we go to plan B. There's usually a long wait on the weekend, because there isn't much that's this good in Coppell. All the Tex-mex dishes are tasty, with just the right amount of spicy kick. They real star of the show though is the Gaucamole...I've never had any that's better than the fresh batch they mix right by your table. Fantastic!
