I went to lunch here a month or so ago, and it was a great experience.

I had fried fish, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and corn. They were all pretty delicious. The fish was kind of cheap, but was nicely fried with a good batter. Other people I was with got land mammals they devoured. I also had a "triple": a combination of sweet tea, lemonade, fruit punch. Yes, it was just as sweet and tasty as you'd imagine.

We had pie too (boston creme and blueberry), which were great.

The best part of the experience was the women working there. They were so nice and warm and welcoming.

Overall, a good place if you're in the area and looking for some solid soul food.

I stop by here now and then to grab things in the middle of the day for lunch.  I believe they have opened recently, because I've only noticed it in the past few weeks.

They're a savior when it comes to things the corner store can't provide (diet pepsi... in a can, so hard to find!) and the staff that work there are sweet, peppering me with "have a blessed weekend, baby" or "hi sugar, what can I get you" and this is from the sweet-as-a-grandma woman who runs the place (not some dirty old man that one would assume to sprinkle such candid remarks).

The place always smells delicious, but I've never actually seen food or a set-up or prepared items.  I can't tell if this is because they are more "catering" than "restaurant" or if I've always just come at the wrong time.

That aside, it's another earmark for Anacostia development.  They're operating in prime MLK storefront space and they stock small treats & goodies that no one else does (yet).
