The real issue isn't as much the monetary compensation as the fact that...we all travelled from California and Central America and we expected to have an enjoyable week long vacation out on the water, but it was cut short considerably....We lost half of the 5th day, the entire 6th and 7th day.

While I thank you for finally providing that credit (after nearly 4 months of email, phone calls, and now finally a bad Yelp review)... I would've given you a better rating if you had provided a boat that was sound and well maintained, if your business was better organized and if you had been initially accountable for your shortcomings and fairly compensated us for our lost time (4 months ago).

After AYC's response to my review, I do advise everyone who is interested in this charter company to read the conversation on AYC's Facebook page found here https://www.facebook.c... . Again, AYC has the facts only partially true.

AYC States: "For instance, when you inquired about adding the 6th day for free, 4 days prior to your start date and nearly 3 months after booking, we did in fact honor it."

I would like to make it very clear that we did not inquire about the free day 4 days before the start date, no such conversation took place. We called about getting an early check in, which we paid for. We had booked the charter 3 months in advance and at that time we were offered a free day if we paid in advance. When we arrived, on the day of the charter, thinking that we had arranged a 6 day charter we were told by AYC that we did not have 6 days but a 5% discount on a 5 day charter. While AYC helped us get another day of charter at a reduced price, we arrived for our charter expecting to be paid up and instead we had to pay more in travel insurance etc.

AYC States: "Typically, as with any company, once a special is no longer available, clients are not allowed to opt in as they feel like it."

We did not "opt in" as we felt like it, we believed the person on the other end of the phone when we booked the charter, AYC did not honor the original deal even if it may have been offered mistakenly.

However, in general I did not rate AYC in my original review based upon the switch in prices, AYC is the one that brought that up.

The main issue to me is that it took 3 months of calling, emailing and finally an internet review to finally resolve the matter of compensation for lost days due to mechanical failure and even so they don't think we have been "slighted" in customer service!

Note: I wish to clarify that the duration of the charter refers to 6 nights/7 Days

We just came back from a week on a bareboat sail charter with AYC. We had an excellent experience. It started with an easy and responsive reservation process. The briefing on site was thorough (with both personal explanations and a great video that I later repeatedly thought had prepared us well for sailing in the San Juan Islands). The boat was well-maintained and in good shape (which, I've learned from past charters with other companies, cannot be taken for granted). The check-out and check-in process were efficient and the people very friendly and helpful. We'll consider chartering here again when we come up to the San Juans next time.

We are experienced yacht charterers and went with this Moorings affiliate because of that reputation. Inept briefings, poorly organized and indifferent service and a charter yacht that was 9 years old and not well-maintained. Propane bottle completely empty, failed bow thruster, autopilot died 2 hrs into charter. Located in the worst marina in Anacortes as well. Management was rude and uncaring. Go to Bellingham, you'll be much happier.

First, last, and never again.  I have chartered numerous times to Desolation Sound and the Bahamas.  When I made by reservation for July 2009 on the "Princess Ruby"  a 36' Grand Banks  I explained that we were celebrating my wife's birthday but due to time constraints we would only be using two of the three days.  (Three day minimum).  Because we only had two days I asked if we could have an early check out.  When I got my confirmation I saw I had a late morning checkout.  We arrived on time and made our way down the dock to check out the boat only to find that the floorboards were up and panels removed from major electrical work.  We were told that the work would be complete for an on-time checkout.  This however was not the case.  After the informational video we were informed that our person would be checking out another boat and would be with us after that.  After short check ride we were under way at 3:30 PM (day one).  When anchoring at Jones Island the anchor windless failed allowing the anchor chain run freely.  Luckily I was able to stop the chain before it ran out entirely, almost losing my fingers in the process.  We lowered the dinghy and on our way to shore the aluminum bracket that allows the outboard motor to swivel failed due to severe corrosion.  With poor service and a poorly maintained boat I have decided to give ABC a try this year. (Talked with them at the boat show)
