I love mom and pop places and I LOVE this place.  The service is GREAT! The place is adorable and very romantic. Their food is top notch and I love that it tastes like it was a home cooked meal, I'm definitely hooked!  = )

We've been here twice, first for Miami Spice then Valentines Day. The Miami Spice menu was good and they had a different menu for Valentines Day but it was meh. We chose from the regular menu. The fiocchi! OMG awesome, its a pasta stuffed with pear and gorgonzola, soooo insane!

Everything we've had here is great, from the drinks (full bar) to the dessert, service is great, always a nice crowd. Its not a very large dining room but it can get loud. The decor is simple yet real nice, Italian vibe. The menu is classic Italian everything so its never boring to do over again and great prices for the area and the service. Our waiter was always looking out for drinks and water running low. :) They've got a small little bar with a few tables on the side in case you need to wait for a table, it gets pretty packed if you go late.

Unfortunately, this used to be one of my favorites, especially when Alfredo worked here.  I visited in January for my old man's birthday, and left extremely disappointed.

Of the three wines we asked for, they carried neither.  We had to settle for a recommendation similar to the wines we were craving.  Compliments because they reduced the price to the first choice we selected!

Service - meh!  We ordered our calamari with lemon.  They forgot the lemon.  It took 13 minutes for someone to come by, so that I could even ask for the lemons. (Yes, I counted.) It then took them another 10 minutes to bring them.  Not sure what the heck took them so long.  At that point, our calamari were cold and inedible.

The short rib risotto was very well cooked!  I will say my two stars are just for how amazing it tasted.

All in all, the service was extremely slow.  It would have been better if those attending us acted as if they were interested.

I also visited when celebrating my niece's baptism last fall.  I thought it was such a disappointment because of the amount of guests at the event.  Lesson learned: it's just not that good anymore.

I had another lovely meal at Anacapri last night. As usual, the fiocchi was to die for. I HIGHLY recommend the food here, and the service is always great.

However, I wanted to come here and mention that I may not be going back to this restaurant for one very obnoxious reason.

They had a cellist playing awful elevator music last night. He played so flat that I felt like I was in the midst of a horror movie. He was a full half-step flat pretty much at all times. It felt like someone was stirring my brain around with a chopstick. If I hadn't been with other people, I would have left. It was torture.

I will be checking to make sure this guy isn't there next time I plan to go. If he is there, I won't be. It was really that bad.

Management, if you're reading, please, for the love of God, get a new musician!

This used to be my favorite "go to" place. What happen Ana Capri?  It is now Ana Crappy!!!! The last time we went, the service was terrible, they didn't have the wine we wanted, food was not the same, starting with the stale bread. Last night we gave it one last shot. Sure enough the wine was our third choice and after about an hour of waiting, my order wrong. My scampi was missing he spaghetti I wanted on the side- by the time the server came back I had finished the 5 shrimp on my plate (which cost $26.00) Didn't mind splurging when the dish was incredible, seemed like a rip off yesterday.  I asked if the Chef had changed. That will be our last time at Ana Crappy.

I fell in love the moment I walked in and smelled the garlic.  I've done various work dinners here and the food is always top notch.  The upstairs room is great for entertaining, and since it's quieter it's better for work presentations.

Okay, for appetizer I've had the calamari and the antipasto. It's pretty standard, but tasty and hits the spot... Now the real reason for my five stars is this: FIOCCHI!!!!!  They're small tender purses stuffed with pear and gorgonzola in a cream sauce.  It is my favorite pasta plate!!! Perfect mix of salty and sweet.  It just makes my day every time I have it!!!!  I've also had the steak and the Mediterranean fish.  Both are cooked nicely.  The steak has some sort of sweet glaze and the fish is perfectly grilled, which is nice if you're in the mood for a light meal.

For dessert, I've had the canolli, which is yummy.   In a nutshell, this place is consistent and worth going just for the fiocchi.. (pardon the spelling if it's wrong).

I am a sucker for Italian and this place is my favorite in Miami.

Before I get into the review - you MUST have the Fiochhi... decadently pear and Gorgonzola filled pasta with a mixed cheese sauce. It is to DIE for. The perfect balance of sweet and salty. I do not even like pear and I crave this often. I have eaten this dish at a couple of other place but no place compares. Delish!

Ok - on to reviewing the restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful, quaint, tidy, clean, view of the gables, large windows, pleasant live music from time to time. Everything on the menu which I have tried has been excellent (not that it compares to the fiocchi :) ).. They have a large selection of wine to choose from so be sure to pair your wine wisely.

Even the bread they bring is excellent and the butter YUM! Also, their desserts are so rich and delicious. They SCREAM italy. I have tried their Tiramsu, a chocolate cake they have and one other but I forget the name. DELISH.

Now I want to go there :(:( Someone - Lets go! lol

If you love italian, this place is authentic and delicious. I recommend it highly but do not listen to me, TRY IT!

Let me start by saying that I grow up on Long Island and my experience in South Florida with Italian Restaurants has not been very good.

This place is a hidden gem, the wait staff is top notch and very friendly and I have never been rushed even when the place is hopping.

The interior design has a Tuscan feel, it's very relaxing all though sometimes loud.

The wine list is a dream form top to bottom. We have had some of the best $25 bottles of  Super Tuscan Wine that compare very well with bottles that I have paid three times the price in other restaurants in the area.

The food is the star here, the Flochhi Paste is to die for, the Risotto was a little on the small side and was prepared to perfection, the fish special was Bronzino was cook just right and my personal favorite is the pork chop done my way with sautéed mushrooms and onions.

I highly recommend this place, but don't tell to many people want to keep it a hidden gem

Great upstairs room for a private party!!!

Had a private party here recently & it went very well. The food was all pretty good...the pear & cheese ravioli stands out but the Lentil soup wasn't that memorable. We had about every appetizer on the menu which was all very good. I seafood risotto was good as well. The service was good.

We had the whole upstairs to ourselves with a DJ which was perfect. The only down fall was it got soooo hot upstairs & that we had to keep going up & down the stairs for drinks...which prevented us from drinking as much as we liked...maybe that was a good thing for us.

Cute place with good food if you are in the area or need a place to hold a private event.

I initially found out about this place during a company dinner. I don't remember what I ordered during that particular outing but I know what I wish I had...the Fiocchi! I initially turned my nose up at the idea of pear filled pasta until it arrived and everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE) was ranting and raving about it. So I gave in & sampled some from a coworker...now why did I do that? I wanted to snatch this dish from her but I refrained. I was to die for! I was kicking myself all the way home for not ordering it. I thought about it so much that I returned a week later with a group of people for my birthday dinner just so I could order the Fiocchi. It is now my absolute favorite & my guest adored it as well.

Enough about the food, lets talk about the restaurant. The service, both times, was very stellar & genuine. The interior design is beautiful. The portions are generous and the ambiance is perfect.

I high recommend this restaurant and the doggone Fiocchi!  :-)

I'd like you to meet my friend disappointment. She's come to visit me ever since I finished my meal at Anacapri. She danced around the table from the second we sat down, but it wasn't until I made my way to the car that I realized she was here to stay.

Anacapri is a beautiful restaurant. It's currently decorated for Christmas, but if you take away the beautiful tree and hints of red and green, you're left with dark woods, a large bar, white table cloths, and a wine rack to rival most restaurants. We were greeted by a lovely hostess that chatted with me while Andrew filled up the rest of the meter (who carries change these days, honestly). She took us to a table by the window, which was appreciated because we could watch the wind whip outside, watch the Miami Heat game on at the bar, and avoid the large party.

From here on out, things were hit and miss. The misses sadly overshadowed the hits.

    The hits:
-The service continued to be stellar throughout the whole meal.
-The negroni I ordered was good and strong.
-The bread, while generic rolls, was soft and flaky.
-The menu is large, but leans slightly on the higher scale of $$.
-They have two prix fixe style menu options if you want to do the whole appetizer, entree, dessert thing for cheaper than buying things separately (which is what I opted for).
-The scallops were some of the best I've had. They had a nice crunchy exterior, and remained moist and meaty on the inside. (Appetizer)
-The lobster risotto comes with a 10oz (just guessing) lobster tail smack dab in the middle of the pile of risotto. A pleasant surprise. (Entree)
    -The portions were generous.

    The misses:
-The negroni was $10. Wow, really? I didn't see what gin was used, but that was surprising.
-The greens that came with my scallop appetizer had far too much balsamic dressing on them. It was overpowering.
-The lobster tail was a little overcooked and chewy.
-The risotto was insanely rich, and when paired with a massive portion, seemed way too much. You think the first bite is heaven, but it get progressively less heavenly. I was over it before half of my meal was finished.
-The tiramisu was absolutely dismal. It appeared to be of the frozen-then-unthawed variety because the bottom layer was turning soggy and the marscapone had a hint of freezer in taste.
    -Two three-course prix fixes + two negronis + sparkling water = $95 + tax + tip.

We left uncomfortable, ridiculously underwhelmed, and a with a whole lot less money. which was a shame because the place is beautiful and the service was genuine. It could have been my fault for hitting the prix fixe route, but for that kind of money, I shouldn't leave uncomfortable. I originally wanted something else, but was drawn in by the idea of getting to sample courses. Plus, it didn't help that I had the most delicious meal of all time a few days prior. That sets the bar pretty high.

That said, disappointment sucks. I wish she'd leave soon.

I would have liked to try the food but after not feeling welcome at the bar, I left. I like to have a glass of wine when I first try a place. There were people to my left and right with whom the bartender was pleasant. He seemed to be in a hurry for me to order and pay. He was downright unfriendly. Anyway, I hurried up and left. The wine was good so it gets 2 stars for that. Too bad I didn't feel comfortable enough to try the food. Maybe it's good.

This is a baffling restaurant.  It's in a great location in Coral Gables.  It has a beautiful interior design.  Very helpful staff in abundance.  But on a Thursday night, we were the first an only patrons at around 7:00.  A few more tables filled up but it was a very quiet night.

We used to go to the Anacapri down south on US1 alot, an we always enjoyed it and we were never disappointed.  Although, I wasn't disappointed here either, I also wasn't impressed.

My chicken fracese was really good.  It was lemony, tender, cooked just right.  The pasta side was tasteless.  My dining companions seemed to like their food, but you never know as they just talked, talked, talked.

We got the ricotta cheesecake to share and like the restaurant itself, it was kinda good but somehow, something was just not right.

Don't let me stop you from going here.  This is a good quality restaurant that tries really hard.  And that there is a good recommendation.

I have to give it  a Star? Can't I give it 0?  My business group were going to Chu's Taiwan and it was closed on a Tuesday.  So we had to think quick and fell into this place.

Another one of those fake Italian restaurants. Unimpressive salad, and then got excited when I saw Pappardelle on the menu with tomatos etc.  Never had a bad Pappardelle dish up till now, but I do not appreciate a jarred horrendous sauce being used ( could have just been too much tomato paste mixed with tomato sauce) and as a bonus order spinach with oil and garlic that turned out to be mashed crap.

Peers also did not like it.  Would Non-Italians stop cooking Italian food PLEASE?

On a whim, we decided on Anacapri as the location for our new years eve dinner. We went with the flow and got the New Year's Eve 5-course special with wine pairing. OMG, it was amazing.
We started with Lobster Bisque paired with Italian Sparkling Wine, then scallops in puff pastry salad paired with white wine, the a choice of Veal stuffed with foie gras or Sea bass with champagne risotto paired with red wine and this lovely dinner ended with Panecotta paired with Ice Wine.
We did not stay for the last course b/c it was a midnight toast of Lentil and Champagne (an Italian tradition).
Even though it was suppose to be a tasting menu, the portions were twice the size than it should be.  I think I was full before the third course got to the table and drunk half way through the second course.
Nevertheless, we had a lovely evening and I can't wait to go back to try their regular menu.

    $18.10 for a 3 course meal?!?!

    SOLD!

Went to Ana Capri last week before heading into downtown for a show and was pleasantly surprised to find that on Mon-Thur they offer a Recession Friendly menu with 3 different prix fixe menus, each with 3 courses, priced out at $18.10, $28.10, or $38.10 depending on the menu you choose. Obviously, the more expensive the menu the more options, and fancier options at that, you get to choose from.

I found that the $18.10 menu had options for me though and so I just went with that. The lentil soup with cubes of prosciutto was absolutely delicious. Best soup I'd had in a while actually. I found out that they also make the soups to order- that's there's not just a big pot of it hanging out in the kitchen all day. I then chose the lobster ravioli- also very good. Not the best lobster ravioli i've ever had, but definitely good.  My sister chose the other option- the Veal caneloni- it i tried a bite--also VERY good! I'll probably go fo rthat the next time I hit up this particular menu. For dessert we had a raspberry sorbet which was perfect for the end of the meal- light, cleansed the palate, and didn't kill the taste of our cranberry vodkas, which by the way were only $5 each since we ordered them before 7 ;)

Delicious food, at a fantastic price, I'll definitely be back soon to take advantage of the recession friendly menu since it doesn't seem like our recession is going anywhere these days anyway.....

Came here with my hubby on a Friday night for dinner. When we first arrived, it was 7 pm and I was surprised that there were but two people dining there. Soon after though, more people started filing in.

The service: spectacular. our server was very attentive, polite, and friendly.

The food: best Italian I've had in a while. for appetizer we shared the plate of cheeses and deli cuts. the size was perfect for sharing between 2-3 people. my husband had the chicken francese and he devoured it. I had the special, shrimp and asparagus risotto. I absolutely loved my dish, it was so delicious! for dessert we had a ricotta cheesecake which was the only part of the meal we didn't enjoy. it was warm which was odd since cheesecake is usually chilled/cold.

I loved how the restaurant was decorated. The atmosphere was very elegant but not stuffy.

As for the wine, there was a large selection of bottles. We had Pinot Noir from Oregon which was delicious. $11 a glass.

Overall, we had a great experience and the food was very good. I will definitely return.

    Anacapri...not a big deal.

I wasn't wowed, but I wasn't offended either. I heard from so many people that this was a great little place off of Ponce de Leon in the Gables. And, I really wanted to make this my new "Italian go-to restaurant", but I regret that I can't.

Caprese salad had high quality prosciutto and was big enough to share. The entrees were adequate. Lobster Ravioli was a large portion, but it tasted a little too fishy. The pink sauce was just O-Kay. I didn't feel compelled to soak up the remainder with bread even if it is a display of bad manners. The Gnocchi dish tasted a bit too smokey since it was cooked with ham. Ham with gnocchi sounds like a match made in heaven, but it really is better in theory. Luckily, the tiramisu was fresh, fluffy, and fantastic.

The service was satisfactory and friendly. It's a nice setting for a romantic or group dinner. It has a nice variety on the menu and it even offers an "economic stimulus" menu.

If there wasn't any hype, I might have been impressed.

OK, maybe my first impression of this place wasn't awesome.

We came back for my sister in laws birthday and on their "recession" menu they had Fiocchi... my absolute favorite. Small purses of pasta filled with pear and Gorgonzola cheese! mmmmmm

Then for dessert they served me this gewy chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream.... Could it be they were trying to buy my affection? If that was the case it may have just worked!

I had to write this review not because the restaurant deserve a five out of five but, rather, because a dish did.

The pear and gorgonzola cheese ravioli (stuffed pasta) was amazing.

After I ate it, I put it on a list in my iPhone under "Best Things I've Ever Eaten".  Literally blown away.  I still think about that dish, actually haha.

    If I could, I would give our waiter a 1.5/5 -- location a 2/5 -- design and comfort a 4/5 and general ambiance and clientele a 4/5.

Came here thursday night with my wife for dinner. Was told by a family friend that this place has great pasta.  The digs are pretty nice...large for coral gables standards. Roomy and pretty comfortable setting. I think it's a really great place for a date.

Most entrees run at $17-25..some seafood ones are higher..where as pasta alone are cheapest.   Pasta is cooked al dente and the sauces for me at least seemed pretty light.

Recommendations: Try the big mozzarella stick for appetizer..very delicious.  and i highly recommend an entree that they do not have on the menu called Fiyochhi. Its hand-twisted ravioli with a yummy Pear-mashed filling. cooked al-dente and served with a creamy gorgonzola cheese sauce. Very Delicious! Ask for it..Fiyocchi (rhymes with Gnocchi)

They are located on a street that has plenty of metered parking..and fortunately its not on a heavily-parked area so you should find a spot.

y'know what, stop reading this and just go. NOW.  and try that fiyocchi damn it!

Sunday linner with my boyfriend is always a great time.  We try to go to places we've never been to, and this was one of them.

We walked in and dinner service was barely starting, so it was pretty empty.  We were seated right away and given menus.  I am a die hard pasta eater, so I was super excited.

Our appetizers were pretty sub par.  But our main course was fabulous.  May or may not have been fresh pasta (probably not) but the portion was great, it was cooked al-dente and tasted delicious.

I was disappointed by the dessert (canoli) but the coffee was great!

Service was slow, which was surprising, since they weren't busy... at all.

    I'd definitely go back though.

I LOVE Anacapri. My family has been going there for years and we've never had a negative experience. They have the best penne arrabiatta in the city and the food is always made perfectly. One caveat is not to order take-out but as it's not really that type of restaurant it's not a concern. Such great service and food!

Anacapri in Coral Gables is one of three restaurants of the same name in south Florida.  We dined here and had a very pleasant experience, settling in for comfort food on a chilly winter night.

The two-story space (the second floor is often used for private parties) is warm and attractive, with a liberal use of wood inside to help create a trattoria-like atmosphere. It is centrally located in the north Gables on Ponce De Leon Boulevard surrounded by restaurants, shops, art galleries, etc.

We started with a Lentil Soup and Caesar Salad ($7.00).  The soup was warm and savory, with pasta, escarole and prosciutto chunks liberally added and a perfect foil to a cool winter night in Miami.  The Caesar Salad also pretty much followed  tradition and was well-executed with crisp romaine and falvorful dressing that didn't seem to include anchovies (sob! We love anchovies).

For entrees, we had Napolitano Veal Canneloni ($18.10 for the lentil soup/canneloni pasta combination on their special menu) and Risotto with Shrimp & Asparagus ($28.00).  During the week, they have specials that follow a theme, and on Tuesday nights the theme is risotto.  There were three different risottos to choose from on the night that we were there.  Two nice-sized canneloni were served in a baking dish with creamy beschamel sauce, the veal filling that was smooth and satisfying.  The risotto was a nice combination of vegital and seafood flavors and was supposed to be Carnaroli Rice, but the dish seemed more like Arborio Rice.  In any case, it was creamy and cooked perfectly.

A bottle of 1996 Faustino I (a bargain at $41.00 @anacapri/$29.99 retail @Kendal Fine Wine and Sprits) was a perfect compliment to our comfort food evening.  The service was very attentive and professional.

We have had chicken, veal and fish entrees in past visits to Anacapri and have found them all to be OK.  The restaurant seems to excel in the simpler comfort dishes such as the appetizers and pastas.

my cousins rehearsal dinner was at ana capri, the entire upstairs dining room was filled with close friends and family.

the service was stellar. i mean they were right on point. my champagne glass was never empty, it was topped off constantly (which i paid for dearly the next day).

the set menu had salad as the first course, choice of 4 entrees (fish, meat, and 2 pastas), and a choice of 2 desserts.
and of course the bread basket, which was quite addictive.
everything we ate was delicious. serving a large party and having everyones food come out fresh and warm isnt easy, but they pulled it off.

i look forward to returning for a regular dinner.

i love this place. i have a serious obsession with their puttanesca sauce.but the reason i love this place isn't because the food is delicious (it really is) its because their prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. the maitre d' (alfredo) is AWESOME!!! he remembers what we like and is a sweet heart! they appreciate their regulars and for me that says a lot. im not a huge italian dessert fan (sacrilege?) so i stick with the pastas and the affordable wines ( i always leave a little (::cough cough:: alot ::cough cough::) sauced. its just a great atmosphere with simple and delicious food. ....great, now i want some food from there now lol

on a side note, my rehearsal dinner was here and it was fantastic. very afforable, if you need to do an event their upstairs is nice and intimate and you get your own waiters.

We attended the monthly Tuesday wine tasting & food event and it was truly a great experience. The wines and food selections were excellent and with owner's Giuseppe and his wife it had a family atomosphere. New friends were made, a good time was had by all, and we are lookng forward to next month's event!

I love Anacapri. The space is cozy and the staff is very friendly.  Alfredo the maitre'd is very sweet and will remember you from past visits. And that in an age where customers are hardly ever appreciated is refreshing and will continue coming back again and again. The pasta is delicious. No, it is not the most authentic meal that you will have but I guarantee that you will not leave disappointed. I must have their bolognese or arrabiata at least once a month.Sometimes if I'm feeling crazy I'll have the rigatoni anacapri or the pear fioci which are two great dishes.  The spedini is heavenly and the calamari is one of my favorites in the city. The meat dishes like the veal scaloppini and the chicken parmesan are wonderful. It's one of my favorite spots in Coral Gables. I hope you will be as satisfied as I always am when I come here.

I loved this restaurant!!! I took my boyfriend here on a Thursday night and the restaurant was empty, it only had two other groups in there eating. It played nice music and the setting was elegant. You definitely have to be dressed semi-formal. I LOVED IT!!! I even brought my camera :D I thought the parking right outside the restaurant was horrible. In Coral Gables, it's hard to find parking but you just have to wait till someone leaves. I got a spot within the first 5 min though so that was good. The food was excellent! I got a seafood dish, it was a shrimp pasta and it also had lobster tail in it and muscles. All the layout of the food was beautiful and the service was wonderful! I had the best time! I ended up giving a 20% tip, which I've never done.

3.5 stars.  I really enjoy this place.  It has a nice, cozy atmosphere and some very good food at fair prices, even if they have creeped upwards along with inflation.  Do not come here expecting authentic Italian.  This is hearty, Americanized fare, without a strict respect for the original or regional style of the dishes, so much as good flavor.  The focus is on sauce flavor rather than the pastas themselves.  Expect a hint of cream in some dishes not traditionally using it.   Some of my favorites include the Arrabiata, Puttanesca, Bolognese, either of the calamaris apps, eggplant rolled with mozzarella (rolatini), and the bordering-on-dessert burratta. They currently feature a comprehensive selection of $25 bottles of wine, and a few themed nights, including risotto and meatball night.

Visited this restaurant on Sunday night with my father and daughter.  We used to frequent the Pinecrest location and was happy to see that the newest location hasn't lost any of the quality of the previous one.  The fried calamari was light and fluffy with an excellent marinara.  The "house" Chianti and Merlot were also very nice.  I ordered the Gamberi Fradiavolo, which was loaded with nice shrimp and seasoned perfectly (though a bit oily).  My dining companions had lasagna and veal parmigiana, respectively.  Both were very good.  The menu (as the website says) "isn't anything fancy, but will keep you coming back".  Great red sauce, wonderful desserts.  If you're going to "the Gables", you need to check Anacapri out!

Went last Thursday for a rehearsal dinner.......food was excellent and service too!  Major complaint, though.  My husband and I ordered two drinks at the bar while our table was being prepared.  The bartender said they were $11 each, served us and gave us the bill.  We totaled the amount to $25.  A few minutes later, our nephew came by to also order a drink which I, since I was standing closer to the bar, ordered.  The bartender then proceeded to tell me that it was $13 because since he wasn't tipped 20% in my previous order, he was adding it to that one!!!!!  What gall!!!  Who says that 20% is the given tip anyway?  Unfortunately I didn't complaint to the manager as we were with a large group for a rehearsal dinner and we didn't want to cause a scene but in hindsight, I believe we should have.  In any event, wanted to post this here as my official complaint about a absolutely disgusting bartender who probably shouldn't be bartending in the first place!

Decent and good portions of italian food. The chicken parmigiana got better over the past year..sauce is more tomato-y (less herbs and spices) and portion got bigger.  I didn't like the cesar salad as the dressing was off & romaine should be well chilled when served.  I had a better cesar @ Villagio in Village of Merrick Park shopping center or at Christy's down the street when it was open.  Another time I had the sea scallops on arrugula and met expectations. Wine selection is good. Desserts good.

What a pleasant surprise! A very good house chianti preceded some of the tastiest italian dishes I've had in years. Seemed to have been made with the best ingredients, perhaps even with love. Comfortable ambiance.  Owner/host Anthony met us and was a gracious host who remembered our names an hour later. Going back for sure.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant. Great location. Great food. Ask for George's chocolate martinis. Restaurant manager Alfredo is like an old friend insuring you are delighted with your meal. I have never had a bad meal, and our family eats here at least twice a month.
