Website is cool, i signed up jasmine for the birthday club yay! The store is clean, big, and staff is super helpful. They have a wide variety of stuff for different animals. The cashier was cool and very nice b/c my cards pin wasn't working and i was holding up the line, it was all bad. Overall good store i recommend but one thing they don't have is natural dog food, just kibble, treats, ect.
Splatted in the middle of auto-parts and rundown model sits the beacon of healthy pet food, An-Jan.
I came looking for grain-free catfood and quickly found almost all the brands I rotate between as well as a decent selection of lower quality. Great for a cat that eats Innova dry and insists on Friskie's canned food. They have a little membership card program that gives discounts on the premium brands, which is excellent.
Wide selection of small animal, bird, cat and dog supplies, though their scratching post prices and selection were poor. Carpet only posts? Boo!
Staff was friendly and helpful. A real surprise for the less than savory area it's located in.

I normally shop at the An Jan in Milpitas, but I was just coming back from Bark in the Park and realized I needed to buy some things for my pets. Since this place wasn't far away, I decided to come to this an-jan to shop.
First of all, I was so shocked of how big this place was! I talked to one of the employees who overheard me talking to my BF about how big this place was, and she had told me that this An-Jan was the biggest out of all 5 stores.
Second of all, they have EVERYTHING! I love an-jan in Milpitas but this store was like 3x bigger than the Milpitas store and had like 3x more stuff! It was perfect to shop for your pet's everyday needs.
Third of all, the employees here are SO helpful! One of the guys helped me out so much with my shopping. I had told him that I just adopted a kitten and I never had a cat before so he literally suggested all the things I should get for a cat. Also, he noticed that I was buying dog food for my dog and had suggested another kind of food from the same brand that was on sale. He had saved me like 10 bucks!
Man, if I lived closer, I would totally shop at this place all the time! Definitely a great shopping experience!
I really don't come here enough to buy goodies for my dog but I should. I have noticed that the prices here are sometimes better than Petsmart. Plus, it is less crowded and there is always someone on hand to help.
After giving much thought of switching my shih tzu, Mila's food(Used to eat Euckanuba); I was really clueless on what kind of dog food would be a good fit for her.
This place gives you the breakdown on all types of dog food. The girl at the counter really knew her stuff. An-Jan specializes in the Natura Brand. She explained to me all the different types of food that they have from this brand such as California Natural, Evo, HealthWise, Mother Nature, Karma, and Innova. All of the Natura brand is made in California--I think in Santa Clara. I like that it's local!! and not dog food from China.
Since there were so many choices, the girl gave me sample bags to see what Mila liked the most to take home.
Since then, I ended up buying my dog the Evo brand, which is grain free and meat based. Of course, I only get what is best for my dog.
I havent been in this store in many moons. since i was driving past I did stop in. I found it to be better organized then in the past visits. the staff was more then helpful and helped me find thing things and answered a few questions I had. very comfortable shopping experience. will go back when in that area again.
This is a very popular chain of pet stores in the San Jose/ Bay Area area. The place is quite run down for a pet store, but it definitely serves it purpose. I was refer here from my usual pet store because I just could not find a big enough dog house anywhere in San Jose. They definitely do have a lot of different varieties for different things that you can get for your pet at a very reasonable price. I got a huge wood dog house (the one that actually looks like a cabin) for just over $120 whereas bigger franchise like Petco would charge $180 and you would have to order it online. Overall my experience here with them has been great and I have been back a few more times to get things such as crates and fences for the dogs and definitely would go back for more household dog items.
The one thing that I did not like about the place is that the food even though were sealed did not look very sanitized and I did not like the fact that they always try to feed my dogs with little dog treats. It is a nice gesture I guess, but I'm always very concern about the cleanliness of the worker hands (I mean they carry packages all day long and always seems like they are loading things in cars for the customers) and where the food came from.
You can expect to always find helpful and friendly staffs here.
We go to this place mainly for two reasons. One is to get the dog food and snacks for our two doggies. We feed ours Innova Evo, and this is one of several places in the bay area where you can find selling it.
We also go to this store for regular shots and blood test for our pooches. This is one of the places where VIP vet care makes one of its stops. At this location, the services are available on Saturday between 3 and 4:30pm. No appointment is needed.
We have been to a few other An-Jan locations in the south bay, and so far, like this location the best.
I've never had a bad experience shopping here. It's not located on the best looking street, but who cares? Some people are just wussies, I swear.
I usually buy my Innova dog food from An-Jan's. And as long as I continue to get excellent service here, I will continue to patron them. YAY for their frequent buyer rewards card!!!
After doing more research on dog food, I'm now purchasing EVO food for my pup and this is one of two places which carry this line. The nice part about this store is that they are open on Sundays which allows me more flexibility with getting my weekend errands done.
I haven't yet purchased enough food to get the rewards from the frequent buyer card, but it looks like a great deal. Spend $200 and get $10 back.
The ambiance of this store is just okay. Service is average. Everytime I have been there, no one has really checked in to see if I have any questions. I'm always just stopping in,grabbing my stuff and then out the door because there's nothing really that catches my eye. I guess that's a good thing for my wallet though. :)
If it wasn't for the EVO line here, I'd be giving this two stars. Yes, my pup's nutrition is worth the bump up of two stars.
We buy Kyoshi's dog food here all the time. Spoiled pup...he only gets the good stuff. None of the Purina or generic kibble. We buy him California Natural or EVO...the holistic dog food with all natural ingredients.
Anyways, the folks at An-Jan are courteous and the store itself is one of the bigger indy shops, of course nowhere near the size of Petsmart and Petco.
Their prices are on par with the rest but of course its all about their holistic food selection that sets them apart.
Has bullysticks for our bully for a good price.
I really like An-Jans for carrying holistic organic pet foods, but this is not one of my favorite locations. It is far down Monterey, into the ghetto, and there are some really scary patrons here at times. The service is friendly and informative, but I prefer to visit their other locations.
I always buy cat and dog supplies/food from here. Their selection of food is not huge compared to Pet Food Express or Sam's. They sell Innova and California Natural, but that's about it if you're seeking high quality pet food. They've got good bathing products as well as the rawhide/snacks for dogs. The staff are helpful without suffocating you.
this place has the best quality rabbit food for a great price!
