I have known Mark since before I could drive and he is the reason I only buy Toyota. There is simply no better, more knowledgeable, or more trustworthy mechanic around. For the last 20 years, and for as long as Mark decides to keep his garage doors open, I will happily trust my car's maintenance, and my family's safety, with An Honest Mechanic.

Mark is a great guy. He is indeed as honest as advertised, but also very knowledgeable and thorough. For an incredibly fair price, he got my Camry to run like new after two hours of work. He also helped repair a small cosmetic issue for no additional charge.
I hope not to need car maintenance, but when I do, I'll go back to Mark's shop. -

Mr. Larkin is the only guy at this operation, so you'll know who you're dealing with right off the bat. There are other auto businesses in the same complex under different business names, but he's the guy to go to if you need Toyota repairs. Call for an appointment in advance -- he's in some demand!
A friend who is very budget-conscious, like me, happily recommended this business, but at first, I thought it was far too south for me to bother (I live north of 2222).
Then I went even farther south to Champion Toyota for a diagnosis for a few problems I'd noticed (I had a very trustworthy dealership mechanic back in my hometown; these folks were far less forthright), and I remembered my rule for important decisions: If you find someone who'll do you right, stick with them if at all possible. So I figured I'd give someone with "honest" in the name a try.
I was told to bring my car in at 8 a.m., which is an ungodly early hour for me, and I did so. The shop is basically across the street from Ruta Maya, a convenient place to while away the hours while your repairs are completed (it took quite a while -- so long I finished a 250-page book -- so I also walked up and down Congress for a couple hours browsing shops and eating lunch, but it wasn't anything he hadn't warned me about beforehand).
I got out for about $200 less than the dealership wanted to charge me for its bare-bones services -- Mr. Larkin also adjusted my tire pressure and refilled my power steering fluid and radiator fluid at no charge!
He was very helpful on a few other questions I had (I'm not super car savvy, but I like to know the basics), and as he was replacing my battery, he had the foresight to write down all my preprogrammed stations so he could re-program the radio if they got erased!
I'll be back, probably not before too long -- my car's a dozen years old and I've been putting off repairs for a while for lack of a good mechanic! -

I have an older Corolla that runs great thanks to "An Honest Mechanic". I have been bringing my car to Mark Larkin for the past 15 years. It's a great feeling to trust your mechanic and know that you'll never be paying for unnecessary work. On the contrary, many times Mark has told me that I didn't need to have work done. That's always great to hear.
If you are lucky enough to live in Austin and own a Toyota, you should try "An Honest Mechanic". You won't be disappointed. -

Mark Larkin is not only a terrific mechanic, but a fount of knowledge of all things Toyota...a straight-shooter and completely reliable, truly a rare bird in the auto repair business...wouldn't dream of going elsewhere.

Mark is fantastic. Can't find anything bad to say. I have an Avalon that's about 10 years old, and have taken it in on a few occasions for maintenance. Nice guy, fair price, great service. Won't take my car to anyone else.

Mark has been doing the work on my Toyota's for the last couple of
years. He has always done a great job and treated me well. I recommend him to all of the Toyota owners I know. Keep up the good
work Mark. -

There's a reason this guy has been voted the best mechanic in Austin, several times. He's really honest. He has customers for years and years, which says a great deal about his integrity and skills. He uses only the best parts which is why you might find some quotes cheaper, but you won't find a better value when it comes to long term car care. If you own a Toyota, this is the guy who should be in your speed dial.

I was smelling something burning in my car, so I called this place after looking at reviews at http://cartalk.com. He told me to come in right away, and checked out my car that morning. There was no wait, and it turns out a plastic bag had been melting underneath the car. He scraped off the plastic, didn't charge me a dime, and looked around the rest of the car to see if there were any other problems. I'll definitely be going there instead of the Toyota dealership next time I have a problem.
