This place rocks!  All kinds of fresh vegetables too choose from at great prices!  We bought a bunch of stuff to cook a few thai dishes and also a wok and a wok shovel ($26) and some other little things for about 55 dollars.  Great deals

This is my new favorite asian market!!!
    - Good selection of meats, veggies, non-perishable goods, and totally-random items (like cans of sprite or keychain nicknacks :-)
    - Nice staff (greet them with "ni hao" if you want to be legit :-P)
    - Centrally located (54th & Powell)
    - Decent hours
    - and CRAZY CHEAP!!! Like...the meat is way cheaper than Fubon or Uwajimaya.  Like...it's so cheap you're certain it's not abx-free and not free-range.  or...it's so cheap you think this is probably where all the mad cows from a few years ago ended up :-)

It's not massive like the huge asian supermarkets so I'm sure they won't have everything if you have those really obscure asian food needs, but they have the standard staples you expect.

I haven't tried their steamed buns like Mimi mentioned, but I'll be back to give it a shot.

Oh yeah, and don't forget they always have seasonal items like special stuff for chinese new year (i.e. Gao and moon cakes!!!)

    Check it out!!!

I think they've cleaned up and rearranged since I was last there.
Anyway, excellent Asian market with a good vegetable section, many good fishes, all the sauces and noodles and rices and candies... very good. I kind of like them better than Fubonn, and the people are very friendly. Excellent market!

They have awesome steamed buns!! LOVE IT! My parents and I were in town for my cousin's wedding, and they stocked up on like 50 of those buns (no joke). The last time I was here was like 13 years ago and a lot has changed. They're so much cleaner now than they were back then. I noticed a large variety of tea selection. They seem to keep some of their good stuff right behind the register. Lots of great produce and meats too.

They have this huge private lot right behind the store, or you can opt for street parking if you're just going to grab something real quick.

An Dong is my #1 choice for Asian goodies in S.E.  It's much smaller than Fubonn but they have just about everything eventhough the meat and seafood sections are small, however the vegetables are much fresher.  Owner and staffes are nice and friendly.  If you are looking for something that they don't have, try to look for a guy that sit in the office.  He would be able to tell you whether or not if he could order.  They also have a small section of restaurant supplies.  They have this huge private lot right behind the store but most of the time the gate is closed.  So you have to park on the street and sometime is like musical chairs.  Look out for bad driver!!

This is the way to go to shop small biz, international and local at the same time. I like to stop in here when I am in the neighborhood & get something new to try.

An Dong is my go-to Asian market, and has been for a good many years. Fubonn out on 82nd is much larger, and has a broader spectrum of regional foods, but An Dong stocks an amazing number of condiments, dried ingredients, and most importantly, an excellent selection of produce. They also avoid Fubonn's habit of putting everything in a Styrofoam tray.

The comments about how small the store is, or how it cannot grow are amusing, since it was originally situated in a tiny triangular space on Foster Rd, and since then has expanded in size several times to finally fill the building.

The store caters primarily to SE Asia, especially Vietnamese and Thai, with a decent selection of basic Chinese goods. It's not a good choice for Japanese ingredients, but Anzen market has handled that for decades.

I've been to An Dong Market for a while now because my mom always wants to come here. It's like here favorite place in SE Portland. It's your typical Asian grocery store. They have mostly Chinese items, but they also have Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Indonesian items.

I usually buy my Indonesian instant noodles here, along with fish crackers, and fried tofu. One time I called the market first to check if they had fried tofu left and the lady thought I asked for French Tofu. Then she put me on hold for five minutes before she transfered me to another lady. I repeated the whole conversation again. "Do you have fried tofu left?" and she said "Yes we do." So I zoomed to the store and grabbed the last two containers of fried tofu they had left.

They also have fresh meat, chicken, seafood, and produce. If you're craving for some bok choy action, they have it for you. :)

Plug your noise if you're not ready. Like all Asian markets, An Dong market has that fishy market smell. I like it, it reminds me of childhood and going to the market with my mom on the weekend. However, I don't love the smell, and I don't like it so much that I want to bathe in it.

Since I've already laid it out there. An Dong has a large selection of dry items and sauces. Their primary focus is Chinese, but they also have other Asian items. Their produce selection is limited, but decent. They also have affordable Tofu. I'm not spending over $1.70 for a block of tofu. $1.50 is my limit for tofu. Call me cheap, but I know I'm savvy.

As long as I have growned up here, An Dong was the ultimate market to go.  However, over time, it remained true to it's original location and produce.  They always deliver fresh vegetables and there's never a shortage of dry goods. Because of it's space, they have not expanded and that leaves the selection to be limited.

It's very clean and what Asian store doesn't smell of dried cuttle fish, etc. The prices are resonable and the staff are friendly.

An Dong was one of my first local adventures when I moved into this neighborhood 4 years ago. I had just returned from a trip to visit college friend in NYC and he had prepared some dumplings he had picked up from a local market. I decided that this was something I had to try.

Ignorant of commercialized LingLing available in the Supermarkets, I decided that An Dong was my best bet for dumplings. Their selection did not disappoint. I also found a nice variety of Asian fruits that I have sampled here and there over the years. I haven't been brave enough to try any meat or seafood (boy, you can smell the seafood), but I have taken advantage of their large selection of sauces.

One thing to note:  I believe they have a $10 minimum purchase when using a debit or credit card. So pick up a few extra items or bring your cash.

For some reason I forget that An Dong is on this side of town and rarely come here for my Asian grocery shopping.  After lunching with my gal pals the other day I remarked how I was not looking forward to tackling the 82nd Avenue traffic to just pick up a few items, when my friends reminded me about AD.  I noticed that their produce section is very large with a lot of variety.  The meat section is pretty good as are the canned food and spice sections.  Overall, AD is well stocked and priced well within normal Asian grocery stores.

Well, I was hoping to find Inari, but I couldn't. Also no Kim Chee... Mainly Chinese food. It's very cheap and I got some killer apple-pears here! I also picked up some terrible and mysterious things such as frozen radish cakes. They weren't very good I've done the work for you you don't have to try them. I found the organization of goods a little weird here and overall I sort of felt unimpressed compared to other Asian Markets I've visited.

This place's butcher is comparable to Uwajimiya's, maybe even better. They're a bit cheaper across the board and you don't really have to deal with Japanese crowd since this place has more Chinese stuff than Japanese. They have great duck prices if you don't want the whole duck, great place for a solid hunk of beef shank, and they have a decent produce section. Pretty much a hole in the wall compared to Uwajimiya but sometimes you don't want to deal with a big crowd right? The one knock I have on this place is that they're seafood is mostly frozen, well that and they don't have Taiwan beer but that's pretty much par for the course around Portland.

I'm new to Portland and have been using Yelp a lot.  Today I needed to find an Asian grocery for some tamarind so back to Yelp I went.  An Dong had good reviews (although some commented on a very fishy smell) and was close so I decided to check it out.  Great selection!  And of course I picked up more than I knew I was going for (kimchee, veggies, and fresh steamed bun).  No fishy smell at all; I'm sure to become a regular here.

An Dong, I can see you from my porch. I really like being your neighbor. You are a nice place to find miso, and tofu and cute china bowls. Don't move out of the hood anytime soon .
