Been closed for a couple months now. The space is undergoing remodeling and will reopen as a different bar under new ownership.
Was a chiller, less scuzzy contrast to the other Lower Haight bars I guess. -

Good things first: I love a joint that has a name that cannot be sounded out phonetically. (pronounced: Ann Baran (i think)). I also met one of my great loves here.
I love all things Irish - the music - well, really only Damien Rice & Van Morrison, NEVER U2, the whiskey (Jameson - NEVER Bushmills), the accents (only boys) - okay, so my love is conditional. Oh, potatoes!
Bad things second: If I leave the bar for a smoky treat don't throw away my drinks. Now, I don't expect you to babysit my cocktails, I won't leave a glass full of ice with a milliliter of liquor and then bitch that you tossed it, I won't be gone more than 8 minutes, I'll be tipping you $2-$3 PER drink, I'll tell you I'm coming back (if I can find you), I'll never leave an unattended cocktail on a busy night. Ever.
So, dig, this is why they call it service, pahtna - because you care for your customers. I'm sweet and flirty and I don't order bullshit drinks like a "lemondrop" in an Irish bar. You need to be loving me more. I'm giving you my hard-earned cash. Everybody likes money. That's why they call it money.
But, hey, mistakes happen. You toss my drink - ya buy me another one. Period. Oh, I mean Full Stop.
When I need to point this out I think "hey, fuck you and your accent ain't all that". -

What's not to love? Cute bartenders with cute accents, great drink specials, a diverse jukebox with actual Irish bands (when some wannabe-Irish wiseass doesn't load it up entirely with U2 all night), and a genuinely fun pub quiz crowd on Wednesday nights. Have yet to make it for a trad seisun on Sundays, but Nish N. has that covered.
Oh! If their deep fryer is working (it seems not to be fairly often), make sure you get an order of chips with some curry to dip it in. Of all the pubs I've been to, this is the only one that has a chips-n-curry to match the stuff across the pond. That weak yellow stuff at the other places is for tourists. -

Best neighborhood bar ever. Feels like you've been transported to a warm Irish pub in Dublin. Strong drinks, places to sit, good music... a perfect place to belly up.

The name is Gaelic for an Irish goatskin drum. They have traditional Irish on Sundays, which is probably the best drinking day of the week.

Totes deserves 3.5 stars...a nice place to grab a few beverages with some friends and some damn strong spirits. It's great to go here after Toronado and rock out with the jukebox.

There is nothing striking about this place, but I always have a great time. It is perfect for grabbing a pint with friends during the week, and can turn into a rowdy dance party on the weekends. Friendly bartenders and great crowd. And I dig the Christmas lights.

How totally sad. This place was totally authentic and always a good time. The fact that one can't come up with too much to say about it is a good thing. It was just simple, pure and un-messed up.

i actually came to this bar with the strange name once when we were on our way somewhere else. the name made us come in... nice place, empty when we were there, but i'm sure much more fun during prime hours.

pretty sweet live irish music on sundays. definitely a good chill place on haight street. feels like an irish pub should feel, at least in my imagination, since i've never been to ireland.
