Stopped here with my Mama as we were heading up the coast to pick up our bees :) Kind of hard to find but eventually we figured it out :)
I had the fish and chips and they were super good. Only problem is I got pretty sick afterwards I can only assume because the grease was pretty heavy? I'm not sure exactly and I do have a VERY sensitive stomach so I don't want to discount the deliciousness of the meal :) -

This restaurant was a hard one to review. I was not sure what category to put it into - "Fancy Restaurant" (the prices are not cheap), "Fish Joint" (Cod and Clam Chowder were not bad) or "Local Dive on the Docks".
We met and talked to the owner and her heart is in the right place but I believe she needs to get a consultant. First the atmosphere is unusual - my opinion it is an old building - without character - opened as a restaurant. The decorations are minimal and not exciting and if you did not know it was a "fish" place you would not guess. The tables are all together in the center and do not offer the privacy of a fancier restaurant nor are they the wooden plank type you might find in a fish place. The bar off to the side has pictures of Paris and New York which confuses the atmosphere (and the storage boxes way up high add to the local joint feeling).
I will say our waitress was excellent and helpful. We did not have any of the service issues mentioned in other reviews. What I did not like was the apparent cheapness of the management. After our meal was over, we found out that we could have requested bread and butter while we waited. Apparently a secret known only to locals. Is this a sign of a cheap restaurant - trying to save a buck? Amy says she will mention the bread in the menu when it is republished. I asked as to why not just give everyone a piece of bread - answer - a lot is wasted and people in Port Orchard are concerned about their Carbs. Un huh - have you visited Port Orchard. Possible the bread is not that good and that is why it is left- note even though we discussed the bread with Amy we all noticed she never offered us a taste - I wonder why?
I will say the Crab Cake, Chowder and Salad were good. All crab in the cake - no fillers. At $23 for three small cakes they are not cheap but not overly expense for the quality - again with a little more atmosphere I would probably not have noticed the price but!
The final "frosting on the cake" was the bowl of Mints on the front counter for departing guests was gone when we left. I guess along with the attempted savings on the bread by limiting it, they also only allocate so many mints per day and we missed it.
If this restaurant was in Seattle or possibly even Tacoma, I would give them a one star. Considering the location in Port Orchard, I went with three although if they would have 1/2 stars - 2.5 is more realistic. I think the restaurant has potential but needs to figure out what they want to be and get a partner so they can afford bread for all and even- - - dare I say it - a mint. -

On a recent journey to visit a friends new boat at the marina, we stopped by Amy's for lunch. Warm greetings from the staff and top notch customer service!.
Being a vegetarian at a mostly seafood restaurant I was not sure what I might eat but they had veggie bocca burger substitution for all meat patties, and 2 or 3 other options that would have also worked.
All the meals that we had were nicely presented, served hot and were yummy! We had a group of six and everyone at the table enjoyed the meal. -
Review from Steve F.
Experience limited to several happy hours; lunch x 3, and dinner x 2. The burgers really shine here and there are some great happy hour food specials. Unless they've changed it, happy hour ends at 5 PM which is not very happy at all!!! I won't be very happy when I get fired for leaving work early just so I can make the happy hour!! Really good burgers. The fish and other dinner selections were only average in terms of return on investment. The best way to describe those dishes is "orthodox." I would rate the food slightly higher then the Lighthouse which is a nearby waterfront bar/restaurant.

AWFUL!!!!! Too bad negative stars aren't possible, because Amy's by the Bay is utterly terrible! Ignoring the fact we had the snottiest server ever who kindly "graced us" with her presence (her name was Lorie btw: blonde hair, thin, nose piercing), the food was terrible, the worst food we ate in Washington State people!!!!
My husband ordered a burger & fries, and when tempted by the witch waitress with "garlic fries," he succumbed. Alas, alack, there wasn't a HINT of garlic on said fries; they were what people call 'seasoned fries'- u know with the reddish weird seasoning and he didn't eat more than one fry. I have NEVER seen my husband leave a full plate of fries, but he did because they were disgusting and oh-so garlic free.
Second, and now, for the best part: I don't eat vertebrates (u know, things with a spine) so my diet is mainly plants and rarely, mollusks, bivalves, crustaceans, etc. Well, I asked Meany Pants Lorie if the clam chowder had chicken or beef broth in it. She got huffy, interrupted me and then said, "I don't know. Do you want me to ask?" Well, yes, my dear ninny, I would appreciate that.
So Miss Snarky-Pants goes to the kitchen, asks, reports "Only clam juice." Great. One Manhattan Clam Chowder for me, garden salad, and she suggested garlic bread (which turned out to be a long slice of weird bread, buttered, with melted cheese on top. No garlic. What is up with this place calling things garlic that don't include garlic as an ingredient??).
NNNnnnooooooo!!!!! Not great, as I pulled out a long piece of BACON from my mouth. Calling Mean Miss Lorie over, I remarked, "Um, my soup has bacon in it and I specifically asked if it had meat since I only eat crustaceans and the like." She responded in quite possibly the most sarcastic, rude tone of any server I have ever had, "Oh yes! All our soups have BACON. I didn't know what you were talking about when you said you only eat CRUSTACEANS! How am I supposed to know what that MEANS?"
OMG, really? You are a server in a seafood restaurant. Don't restaurants give a teeny, tiny bit of seafood education for their servers? Like NAMES of SEAFOOD?
Rude and ignorant servers do NOT deserve a tip, much less to work with other human beings. Seriously folks, be wary of the servers and just skip this horrendous place. -

As stated in another review, Amy's serves mediocre food at gourmet prices. I went with a group of six and the consensus was disappointment For $20 and up, we certainly expected higher quality, better service, and a little more in the way of decor.

I've been here numerous times for lunch. The food is pretty good, but it's slightly overpriced for what what they're providing. The portions of the sandwiches are decent and they come with a ton of fries. I like the fact that all of their burgers can be served with beef or chicken. It makes my decision making a bit easier. In the summers the patio is great to sit out on and watch the boats move around the Inlet.
Besides, the price, my big issue with Amy's is the service. I find it frequently takes a long time for someone to come take my order or bring my check, especially during the lunch hour - just when I want it to be quick. Once the meal comes I find that my drink goes empty sometimes and does not get refilled. Given, I have never really been here except when it's busy, but I've been slightly disappointed in the service.Listed in: Kitsap

Went there for dinner recently and in a nut shell, we were disappointed. The food was mediocre considering the high prices, ($80 for two including tip). The atmosphere was remeiniscent of a Denny's or Sheri's lacking an ambiance and feeling of privacy one would expect in a fancy restaurant, (it's billed as a fancy restuarant). However, our young waiter was attentive and polite which helped, but we can't recommend Amy's. There's more bang for the dollar elsewhere.

I've been here for lunch probably 8 or 9 times now, including today. I work up the hill from this place. It's really one of the better sit down places within walking distance or a two minute drive. I usually meet people for lunch here when I want a little more time to chat and/or more privacy than a Subway or Quiznos affords. On a nice day, this is the place to sit outside on the deck as it's right down near the water.
The menu is pretty big - I tend to get a sandwich (usually the Club, although the French Dip is good, too) with a big plate or fries or a couple of times I have gotten one of the entree salads. The food is pretty solid. I have never had anything I didn't like. If you get a burger or a sandwich it will come with a lot of good fries, or if you want to go a little healthier they will give you a side salad at no extra charge. They also substitute boca or chicken for beef at no extra charge. Aside from sandwiches, once I came with someone from work and she got the crab cakes - they were tasty! I've also tried the fish and chips - again, very good.
Amy's is not the best restaurant in the whole world. My chief complaints are that it tends to be a little slow to get food out and get your check, etc. when dining at lunch. But the servers are nice and if you catch their attention they will make it happen for you. Truth be told, if Amy's was over in Seattle near my house I would likely never come here, but for Port Orchard it's a good bet. It's probably my favorite all around place to eat in PO, all things considered. Give it a try if you want a decent sit down place with nice people and solid food options in PO.Listed in: Kitsap, anyone?

Stopped there by chance and was pleased with the service and food. Had the shrimp basket and my wife had the clam chowder with a salad. Would definately go there again.

A friend and I had dinner on a Friday night. I have eaten here before and knew the quality was good but this meal was a step higher than before. I guess I am always drawn to what the specials of the evening. It will always be fresh new and something the chef really stands behind. This night it was a braised pork short rib with garlic mash and steamed broccoli. Sounds simple but it was complex and delicious and just full of flavor. The short rib was fall-off-the-bone tender and just tasted amazing. The sides added to the overall flavor of the meal. At $21 for the meal it was not bad and was well worth it.

Horrible experience at Amy's. I was at the farmer's market with my son a few weeks back and decided to stop in here for a quick lunch... I ordered a chicken caesar which I was told was great by the waitress... it was pricey for a salad but thought if it was good it would be worth it. I got it and it was bland and tasteless and the chicken tasted like frozen precook strips. It was aweful... I told the waitress and her solution was to take $2 off the bill... not sure how this helps an aweful salad... I emailed the restaurant to let them know and never heard back... I would expect at least an offer for something else or refund, or SOMETHING to make the experience better. Service was slow as well. My 9 year old did like his chicken strips. I will not return.

This place has, hands down, the best fish and chips we've tried on this side of the Bay. Their clam chowder and crab cakes are outstanding, as is the Ahi Poki!!! We had a flaming Grand Marnier Dark Chocolate Creme Brulee for dessert and it was fantastic! But, this Island gal is definitely going back for a full order of that Poki!!! Ono-licious!!

Review from Jamie M.
We took my mom here for mother's day based on my sister's recommendation. At first they started to stick five of us at a booth meant for four, with some lame chair stuck out at the end of the table in the main walkway. So we quickly changed our request to patio dining where we were given a table that all of us could actually sit comfortably. That was probably the only snafu in an otherwise lovely meal.
Service was friendly and I thought they were attentive enough. I had the mahi-mahi tacos which were super tasty and just a smidge spicier than I expected. It was nice they paired the side (chips) with a sweet salsa so you weren't completely overwhelmed by heat. The burgers, fish & chips, and salads that the rest of the table ordered looked great and there weren't any complaints! If you are looking for a nicer dining option in Port Orchard this is a good bet. -

Ever wondered what a higher-end casual neighborhood restaurant might be like? Go try Amy's on the Bay. The menu is American eclectic with a medium focus on seafood, and is uniformly good.
The service can be a little spotty. The decor is understated. They have an outdoor patio that they can open up on warm days.
This would make a great end to a day trip to the West Sound... -

While it has been several months since I was here last ( went tonight however ) the food has improved IMO but it still is a just good place to grab dinner or lunch - - - but I am unsure if looking for much more. The food is good, not great . . . but very good. For two this evening we dropped $ 50 including an appetizer / sammies and non adult beverages. Lunch items has always been their stronger food items ( ie chicken mushroom melt ).

A good menu selection and attentive service made for a good experience. The crab cakes are quite good and the early bird menu is a great value. The meal reviews at my table were mixed as some items were great and ranged to just ok.
If it is not going to be your last meal on Earth you would probably do well to give Amy's a try. -

One of the best restaurants on the Kitsap peninsula. It's located right near the water and the space is large and the ambiance is relaxing and inviting. Their seafood is some of the freshest and best prepared. Their fish and chips and their clam chowder are especially good, probably the best on the Kitsap peninsula.

Quilcene, WA
This place has FANTASTIC fish and chips, oysters and chips, etc. The breading is super-light tempura-style and the seafood quality is EXCELLENT. I am a total deep-fry SNOB and am easily disgusted by any subpar breading, like they serve at JJ's in Poulsbo (awful.)
So, head to Amy's, order anything they serve deep-fried, and you will be a happy camper. Really good fresh salads too and a decent wine list. We had a bottle of Ravenswood Old-vine Lodi Zinfandel, 2006, that was great and not unreasonable at $25. Sure it's way marked up but not too outrageous considering how nice the wine was.
Also I should mention that the service was fantastic. Just right. We'll go back soon!! -

Port Orchard, WA
It's a passable restaurant in a great location with little competition. I've been several times over the past year and the food is consistently medicore and incredibly overpriced. The only reason we come is that there isn't much else that's close for a lunch.
I would not recommend going out of your way to visit but if you're in the area on a sunny day and cost isn't a concern they have a lovely patio.
Overall, they have an ambitious menu with poor execution. Stick with the less complicated fare and you'll be happier. Venture into the dinner entrees and you'll be disappointed. -
Review from Timmy S.
Came here for lunch. Nice view on the bay. Tried the blackened bleu cheeseburger with a salad. I have to admit it was a great burger - juicy and full of flavor. The service was top rate. But still, $14 for a burger is too much even if they do give you a cloth napkin.

The food was OK, the prices were high, and the service was mediocre. I took my family out for a dinner and got a steep bill for OK food. This place strikes me as a good drinks/appetizer location before you head out...

So you find yourself in Port Orchard where the decent eateries and few and far between. GO HERE. As I stated to my dining companions upon the arrival of my salmon tacos with the fresh fruit salsa, "dang, I'd go here even if this place was in Seattle". Pretty tasty and the service was pleasant. And if you go on Saturday you can also hit up the Port Orchard Farmer's Market which is right next door, by the Marina and waterfront park. Hurray!

I went for steamers, wine and dinner. I was very happy with the steamers. WOW. They were great. We had to ask for bread for the sauce and when we got it, it was only 5 very small pieces and no additional bread. The halibut I had was very tasty, my friends had the salmon and steak and they really liked their meal. I was just disappointed that I had to flag down the waiter for anything and the bread this was a real downer.

Amy's has gotten better since it opened about a year and a half ago, but it still needs work to justify it's downtown-Seattle range prices. I can take a ferry to many places in Seattle that charge the same and blow this place away. However, the service has improved quite a bit, the wine list is much better, and the ambience is good.
Our dinners had promise, but were missing something here and there--overcooked and bland chicken here, chewy and unispired tuna there. it wasn't a BAD meal, really--but when you drop $100 on a dinner for two (with a great Spanish wine, thanks), you expect a little better. -

The food was okay. The tables and chairs are so close together that I wasn't able to sit in a booth just because there was no room to fit. I am only 200 pounds right now so I don't see how someone bigger than me would be able to fit in a booth. The service was good. On a sunny day you can sit outside.

What a find! Being new to the Puget Sound area, we took the ferry from Seattle to Bremerton, then drove to Port Orchard, just to explore new places. We decided to have dinner and were attracted to Amy's because it had outdoor patio seating and looked like it had a great view. The view was amazing (it was a beautiful day). The service was very good and towards the end of our meal, an older gentleman came over to check on us and we ended up having a very pleasant conversation with him, and it turned out that he is the owner's father. The food was delicious, I had the Salmon Burger and my son had the Clam Chowder Bowl. Yummy! We would have wanted to stay and enjoy the setting for a longer time, but alas, we had to catch the ferry back! A little bit pricey, but the food and view were worth it.

Bremerton, WA
Not really impressed overall. Not that it was bad but nothing about eating there sticks out as being impressive. Good service. Seafood dip starter was only ok, a little too much lemon in the dip and quite frankly for the money it should have been better. Wife had a blue cheese salad while I had some fish tacos and while both were all right there was nothing special about either of the dishes. Booths were very small. I'm a pretty tall person and spent most of the meal feeling hunched over the table. Prices were high for what it was. 50+ for two people with no drinks. I can't really recommend this place to anyone. There are much better places to eat seafood in the area and at the prices here it's worth catching the ferry to Seattle for something nicer.

Always a good meal. Amy (owner), her husband Grant (chef), and Amy's dad Carl (host and story teller) are warm and treat their customers like family. Prices aren't the highest in PO. You can't go wrong at Amy's!

I have to agree with the notion that this restaurant has decent food but the value is the question mark. The service has been really hit or miss for me. I do like to have a beer with fish and chips out on the deck when it's nice outside.

Port Orchard, WA
What used to be JJ's on the Bay, the food and the service hasn't changed much. I have always enjoyed the food here, it may not be the best food in Washington, but its great fresh seafood that's local. Not everybody wants to go to Seattle for a nice dinner, like some people, so Amy's is a good choice.

Have been twice, with different experiences. The first time was hands down 5 stars. Seafood salad comes recommended. Hearty, inspired food. The second time I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich - eh, ok. My wife had the sesame salmon salad and the fish didn't seem fresh, tho she disagreed. I guess it depends on what you order. Good service, setting, space. Some of the offerings could be a bit more reasonably priced. Would like to hear other's experiences.

Port Orchard, WA
I think that a lot of these reviews are from people that haven't eaten at many nice restaurants. Althougth the view is great and it's nice to be able to sit outside in the summer, for the money, this is not a best bet. The food is good..mostly but not outstanding. There are other places around with similar pricing but much much better food. For less discerning tastebuds, this place would do just fine. But for those of us who prefer a meal that equals the price then I would find somewhere else.

Port Orchard, WA
Have been going here every so often since it opened so this review is based on what I can remember about all of my experiences. That said, my most recent visit is what I'm mostly drawing on. They do good fish and chips and have some good appetizers. The prices are a bit on the high side as some have mentioned, but nothing absurdly high. The burgers are very good, including the salmon burger I got a while back. Most recently I went there for lunch and got the BLT. I remember thinking that this is something I could have made at home myself - nothing really impressed me about the sandwich - just some bacon, lettuce and a bit skimpy on the tomato, rather hastily put between two slices of sourdough. You'd think a place like this could come up with some kind of gourmet sauce for this classic sandwich to make it taste better. We also ordered a french dip sandwich which was suprisingly mediocre. On the positive side, the fries were better than I've had elsewhere. The service comes in the form of rather callow, young, indifferent waitstaff and ownership: the server who, when asked to describe the seasonal draft they had, shrugged and said, " I don't know its sort of dark" ; the host who got visibly upset with us after we requested the empty booth we noticed (we had been told there weren't any available); the owner sitting in a booth right near the entrance who ignored us as we waited to be seated, not a "hello" or a "the host will be right with you"; the other owner sitting in the same booth when we left: nary a "thank you" or "how was everything?" "come back soon". I don't know, perhaps I'm being unreasonable, but this restaurant seems to portray itself as being a notch or two above everything else in Port Orchard (its probably easy to do that, considering the lack of alternatives). If you find yourself stuck in Port Orchard you could do worse, and they do have some good dishes on the menu. However, you might do better by driving a few miles south to Gig Harbor or Tacoma where there are better offerings. As for me, I will probably make that BLT myself next time.

Phoenix, AZ
When ever I'm in Port Orchard, I come here. The food is always very good, but it is a bit pricey. Since I live in Phoenix, I have to fill up on fried ousters when I'm visiting the family. Amy's ousters are always cooked perfectly and very fresh. The chowder is very good as well. My sister had fish taco's which she loved. (Except the tortilla's were not up to Phoenix standards) I thought for the money, she should have gotten more fish, but she was happy. We also had the seafood dip which was really good. I wasn't completely blown away...but it was good. Fresh, no fake crab....good stuff. We sat at a table by a window which gives you a great view. Our waitress was fantastic. She waited on us last year, and was just as good then. She magically appeared when we needed her, and was gone when we didn't. I'm giving her a star for being awesome! If you go there, look for the little Asian girl....that's her. You'll love her.

Port Orchard, WA
First off, let's get this straight; this review is written about a restaurant in Port Orchard, wa ... this is not Seattle, San francisco, or even Gig harbor. So I am still experiencing sticker shock related to the prices at Amy's on the Bay: basic burger for lunch $12.99, Kobe for $14.99, a french dip sandwich touted as 'huge' for $12,99 and it maybe tipped the scale at one eighth of a pound in roast beef at best, and the salads ranged from $12.99 to $17.99 for lunch. The service was marginal and the overall experience was a let down. We had been there before but gave it another try ... and we both walked out thinking, 'now we know why we haven't been here in a long time; over priced and under-whelmed.' Just because you are one of the only class establishments in the area does not mean you should charge premium prices for 'average' food. Compared to its original owner in Poulsbo, JJ's, which has reasonable prices, great food and consistently sends us away with left overs and a feeling of value, Amy's a true disappointment.
