Amy's should be called "Amay-zing's
The taste of every entree?! Soooo good! You could seriously serve any of these to a guest on a fancy plate at a restaurant. I will never buy another lean cuisine again. -

Amazing products! I like the No chicken noodle soup with tofu and so many of the other products. They are all delicious and as someone who only eats organic foods, this company is perfect for me!

Holy moly, guacamole! I love Amy's Kitchen and the food it produces.
As an individual who maintains a vegetarian diet and who has struggled with minor health problems that shall not be discussed in this review, Amy's products have been a lifesaver. They provide food that is not only vegetarian and vegan-friendly, but can actually be eaten by people with varying health concerns. And to top it all off, the food is low in fat and actually tastes good. How many other frozen meals can beg this distinction?
I know that nothing beats a home-cooked meal, but when you're not at home or are too tired or run-down to cook, Amy's is there with simple foodie goodness that will make you believe in humanity once more. Okay, that's a bit dramatic, but it will at least make you believe in the goodness of the people who are running the Amy's kitchens with conviction in Petaluma, Calif.
They hooked me long before I became a vegetarian, by sending their no-cheese roasted vegetable pizza to the freezer section of my local supermarket. For a time this was the only Amy's product I would buy. I think I was kind of convinced that its tastiness was a fluke and I didn't want to buy another product that would disprove the high opinion I had formed of Amy's offerings.
But eventually I branched out. I had to, especially after my health concerns forced me to watch what I ate. For awhile, Amy's dinners and my own self-prepared meals were the only food I could put in my mouth that would not make me ill. Even now, Amy's products are a soothing and rewarding end to my busy weekdays. The vegetable lasagna? Delicious! Stoeffer's needs to take a tip from whomever concocted that recipe. The pesto tortellini, which is made with egg-free noodles? Lovely. Equally appealing are the variety of soups, the vegetarian "meat loaf," the Southwestern chili dinner and the vegetable enchiladas. The mashed potatoes in the vegetarian meat loaf dish are really good, and the fact that I actually ate and enjoyed them is a milestone, as I am extraordinarily picky about mashed potatoes.
As an aside, the vegetable pot pie is also decent and smells lovely as it cooks, although it is not a "favorite," the way the dishes mentioned above are favorites.
My local ShopRite recently stopped carrying Amy's soups, which upset me. Amy's Kitchen really goes out of its way to make fine products using natural ingredients, and I think it's a shame that supermarkets will stop stocking their wares. Yes, these products are expensive, but they are worth the extra cost. By purchasing an Amy's dinner or soup, you are purchasing a nutritious, soundly-prepared meal that just happens - happens! - to be a "frozen" dinner. You're only cheating yourself if you don't try one of their food items. It's definitely a worthwhile purchase.
N.B.: Amy's products may be found at Whole Foods stores, and ShopRite is still holding out on some products. Visit their website to find a store near you!Listed in: Vegetarian and…

Probably the first and last time I'll post about frozen food. You see (or already know) that most frozen food is pretty bad...and I think I'm being kind. Now Amy's will not blow you away, but on every dimension they rise above standard frozen fare.
I have become intimately acquainted with their far more recently with an endless spate of 75+ hour work weeks. Without time to cook, and not wishing to risk health problems with sodium, fat, and calorie laden restaurant food, I have been eating quite a few of these. The flavors are decent, they are visually appealing, there are vegetarian options that don't suck, and miraculously, they make a line of REAL low sodium foods (check out 'low sodium' canned soup to view the faux kind). Yeah they cost a bit more then the usual frozen meals, but generally less then restaurant fare, so, tradeoffs and all. I wish many restaurants would approach their fare with the attention and concern Amy's Kitchen does to its line of products. Thumbs up! -

Amy's Kitchen makes great meals when you don't feel like cooking. When I once had an office job, I usually bought one of her bowls for lunch. Her meals are healthy, vegetarian, and for the more discriminating, she has extensive vegan options. The Santa Fe Bowl is GREAT with the combination of black beans, masa and rice. Another strength of Amy's are her Indian entrees. The paneer is nice, firm, and creamy. Her take on a Thai soup won an award from Rachael Ray for "Most Unusual"--and not only is at an exotic combination of coconut milk, lemongrass and veggies--it IS that good!
Amy's also makes great breakfast entrees and chilis. My sister in Boston swears by her spicy vegetarian chili. BEST vegetarian chili on the market. All it needs is a dollop of sour cream, some grated cheese.
Amy's Kitchen is a great place to be if you don't want to cook! -

Their frozen meals are pretty decent and usually contain about 300 calories. Their food doesn't contain genetically modified organisms or trans fats. Americans just need to demand better ingredients from food manufacturers. Amy's only use organic ingredients.
If you like to eat more than 300 calories at each meal, I recommend adding a fresh salad to your frozen entree.
I usually keep a few of these in the freezer for days I don't want to eat out or cook. The stuff is a little bit more expensive than your average frozen budget crap meal, but your body will thank you for years to come.

Thank you, Amy. If it wasn't for you I would starve to death.
Being a long-hours workaholic usually means I'm too tired and too hungry to deal with cooking when I get home. But being a vegetarian I still want to eat something relatively healthy (gotta watch the 'well balanced meals'!). Amy's always rescues me.
Her soups are great, but the vegetable pizzas, enchilada dinners, assorted rice bowls, and my favorite the "Country Dinner"--faux Salisbury steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and baked apples--always hit the spot. My biggest challenge is having the patience to wait while they bake in the oven! And yes they are so much better when baked in the oven...please don't insult the food with a microwave.
Amy's stuff is on the expensive side, but you do get what you pay for. Its mostly all organic, all natural, and very good quality with that homemade taste.
I've been reading that little story on the back of the boxes about how the owners started Amy's Kitchen in 1987 when their daughter Amy was born and they were too busy to cook. I would assume little Amy is now in college somewhere! Hope she's taking Food Management 101 so she can take over the reins and keep this great company going. Go Amy! -

1) vegetarian soup- even vegetarians like soup from a can sometimes, and Amy's does it right with Veggie Barley, and No Chicken Noodle - it's really hard to find vegetarian soups so I'm happy someone is filling this need
2) Soy Mac n Cheese- throw some brocolli in this and you have yourself an excellent meal- when I make this at work people are always asking where they can buy this
3) Spanokopeta frozen pockets- these have great flavor and for a frozen meal are really nutritious- also can't beat the price, $2.50- that and an apple and you've got lunch for under $5
I also like the tofu lasagna, the pot pies, the pizza pocket, and the carmelized veggie pocket one with onions....this is a great line, Amy's ROCKs -

Courtesy of my asian half, I am slightly lactose intolerant. I can eat most things with dairy in them but try to stay away from anything with a high level of dairy or creamy sauces. As a result, I've missed out on a lot of things - including Macaroni and Cheese. This is where Amy's Kitchen comes in. One day when I was browsing the frozen food section looking for healthy meals I can eat at work, I came upon some of their products. At first I saw the Macaroni and Cheese but glanced over it because I know I can't eat it. And that's where I saw it... Macaroni and Soy Cheeze! Sooo happy! I now try to keep at least one in the freezer at work for those days when I want some comfort food.
Other products i've had that are good are Vegetable Pie in a Pocket Sandwich (good), Vegetable Pot Pie (tastes better in the pocket sandwich), Sheperd's Pie (yay mashed potatoes!), and Cheese Enchilada (okay but I'd rather have this from a real restaurant).
Their products can be found at most grocery stores as well as health food stores -

Aww, my adorable roommates eat a lot of frozen-foods. "Well, at least they eat Amy's", is my usual reply to their self-effacing comments that always end somehow with a discussion of a cooking lesson in the works someday but for now it's frozen...
No guilt here, I enjoy the pizzas too and for a quick bite the canned goods are great! -

Best frozen meal company EVER created. My goodness, I can eat an Amy's Kitchen pot pie any day and every day. And their canned soups are delicious! It definitely feels good knowing that all the ingredients they use are organic and natural. With pregnancy, I'm trying to do my best in hitting up all the food pyramid necessities, but sometimes I just can't get myself to eat a bowl of steamed veggies. But now, I can resort to some of the quick meals that Amy's Kitchen produces and know that everything's healthy!

Amy's Organic Chili
It wasn't just bad. It was bilious. This stuff was so nasty tasting that it was literally inedible. I would defy anyone to do a blind taste test and identify it as chili. It looks and tastes like sort of a black bean soup with a bitter, burned flavor that clings to the inside of your mouth. How can you make chili without tomatoes ? There are no tomatoes listed in the ingredients. Unfortunately, I bought a package of 6 cans, at Costco. I will be opening the remaining 5 cans, flushing the contents, and recycling the cans. And, I will never buy another Amy's product again. -

So I've fairly recently become a vegetarian. That's right no more cow, pig, chicken, fish, buffalo, giraffe, or alligator for me. Why pray tell did I give up the joy of meat? It wasn't because I think that eating animals is wrong (other animals is nature do it) or because I think meat tastes bad (I used to eat as much roast beef as I could get). It's because I did all of this pesky reading about reducing my impact on the environment and learned that by not eating meat I was cutting my food carbon emissions by as much as 90%. I also learned about some of awful practices that our farm animals go through in factory farms and I decided that I personally didn't want to put that into my body. All that being said I have also dedicated myself to being a "non-asshole" vegetarian. That mean's no preaching to others about not eating meat and refusing to be around others who eat it but rather I will just talk and explain my viewpoint if asked and go about my business. I figure I will get a lot more people to understand and possibly become vegetarian if I treat others with respect then if I just yell at people and try to make them feel bad for what they eat.
Okay...now that you sat through that long rant here is why I love Amy's! Even though I am a vegetarian it doesn't mean that all I want to eat is salad every day or that I can subsist on Tofu alone. Sometimes I want some damn comfort food and Amy's makes the best vegetarian comfort food I've found.
My Favorites
-Soups: Tomato Bisque, No Chicken Noodle, and Butternut Squash to name a few. It's hard to find great soup that isn't made with chicken stock.
-Burrito's and Wraps: Who else is making southwestern veggie masa burritos as well as Indian Samosa Spinach Tofu Wraps?
-Veggie Pot Pies: Need I say more?
So thank you Amy's. You have helped my transition from meat lover to meat abstainer much more easy then it could have been and the fact that most of your food is organic and made with non-GMO products and is local to boot makes it all the better for guilty liberal conscience. -

I live on these things at work when I eat "al desko." My favorites are the mac and cheese, the Indian dishes, enchildada pie, and the "meatloaf" dinner.

Thank you Amy's Kitchen. From the bottom of my food loving heart. When it was not "cool", "normal" nor "trendy" I was a vegetarian, and a vegan for about a year and a half of the five years I was meatless. Amy's pretty much single-handedly fed me the only foods I could eat outside of my mom's salads and meals (I was in my teens). I would have starved to death (well aside from the whole anorexia thing...but that was SELF imposed) without your nutritious and yummy meals. Fast forward to my carnivorous today and you'll still find me eating Amy's. Nearly everyday in fact. I eat either a frozen meal or a soup at work almost every day because they're healthy, fresh, tasty and completely organic. Add to that the fact that they're pretty low calorie and you have premade perfection. Oh and I used to live in Petaluma so I gots nothin' but love on those grounds too.

It has MY name on it!!! That was my first thought when I saw products by Amy's in the health food stores. I started by trying her soups...which I really love! My favorites are the Cream of Tomato and the Lentil Vegetable. Amy's makes everything super healthy and their products are relatively low in sodium. They make a good spicy chili too! Now, their frozen dinners are AWESOME! My two favorites are the Cheese Enchilada and the Palak Paneer! YUM! It's nice to be able to eat something good without cooking it myself!

Amy's Kitchen makes the best organic vegan freezer treats! I've been eating her creations for at least 15 years, even before I went vegan. Now as a vegan, it's really awesome to just be able to flip to the ingredients list on the back of a package and know immediately without scanning the list that it's vegan because she puts "(VEGAN)" at the beginning of the list if it's vegan. I love the organic ingredients and diverse selection of dishes, including vegan and low-sodium options. I always keep at least one in the freezer at work in case I can't break away for lunch. Even my omnivore husband enjoys them for a quick bite every now and again when we're not eating together. It's awesome that they're keeping it a family-owned business, not selling out to Kraft or some tobacco company conglomerate, too. Please keep make delicious, healthy treats!

Ah, what would a vegetarian do without Amy's. Yeah, if I had more time and, well, dedication to my health, I would eat nothing but Farmer's Market fresh fruits and veggies, but life just doesn't work that way. Amy's food are convenient, healthy, and delicious - not once have I been disappointed by the many things of hers I have tried. My personal recommendations would include the ravioli bowl, no chicken noodle soup, any of the pasta sauces, and the spinach pizza.
