I'm so pleased that there is an Amy's in the Austin airport! When I travel back to Texas to see family, I'm typically pressed for time and am unable to fulfill my Amy's cravings while there. I love being able to mow down on ice cream in the "privacy" of the airport without my friends and family realizing what a fat*** I am :) Fantastic!

For yesterday's trip I was feeling my old standby - dark chocolate with fresh strawberries, YUM, but 2 weeks ago I was able to enjoy pink frosted circus animal flavored ice cream. Yes, it's as amazing as it sounds! I love that they rotate in all the eccentric flavors (olive oil, Shiner beer, etc) despite this being an airport location.

My friends if you are in the Austin airport, you must forget about your diet for a little while and try Amy's! It's the best ice cream you'll ever eat in an airport - I guarantee it :)

Amy's Ice Cream is located across from Gate 12 inside the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.  This ice cream shop has about a dozen different flavors of ice cream.  They also serve sundaes, milkshakes, sorbets, frozen yogurt, and smoothies.  Before tax pricing for ice cream is as follows:

    Tiny - $2.75
    Small - $3.57
    Large - $4.39

Waffle cones are 90 cents extra.  One cool feature about this stand is they serve ice cream "on the fly," meaning you can buy Amy's Ice Cream and take it with you on your flight.  The ice cream is packed for 8-hour trips.

I had one of Amy's fresh fruit smoothies for $4.25.  I got everything in mine which meant: apple juice + banana, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries.  It was good, sweet, and hit the spot.  I did have some seeds stuck between my teeth hours afterwards, though.

Fast and friendly service.  If you're in the Austin airport and looking for a refreshing snack, Amy's is not a bad option.  Cool artwork on the blackboard menu too, including an excellent drawing of Mega Man.

My last Amy's ice cream in the form of a shake until who knows... next year?

Scoop of Coffee and a scoop of Vanilla with that godforsaken whole milk was actually not so bad. In fact, it was delicious and I cherished every slurp. And I wasn't as lethargic as the last time, no nap required. Though I still really wish they discover non-dairy milk soon. No one needs to drink whole milk like that.

I didn't get a chance to go to Amy's while in Austin so I decided to take advantage when I saw the Austin airport location.

The staff allows you to taste flavors before making a decision - a good thing because this shop has some really unique flavors. I tried Mexican Vanilla, Jalapeño Peach, and Bourbon Chocolate Walnut. Shockingly, I loved all of them, even the Jalapeño Peach, which was smooth and peachy with a subtle hint of heat.

I opted for the Mexican Vanilla with hot fudge and I'm glad I did. It's one of the better vanilla ice creams I've had. There's a slight kick to it though it's certainly not overpowering.

I'm craving Amy's ice cream from the East Coast!

Oh Amy's, how I love you!  I didn't get to stop while I was visiting in Austin, so I had to resort to the airport location on my way out of town.  The ice cream is so light and creamy and delicious... and the flavors are robust and unique.  I LOVE sweet cream or Mexican vanilla mixed with strawberries.  But the most recent visit, I opted for the Zilker Mint Chip.  Holy bejeezus - it was refreshing and the chocolate chips were massive chunks of chocolate... perhaps even mini chocolate candy bars.  The "tiny" is a hefty portion of ice cream - so plan accordingly and be hungry!  The staff at this location is just as friendly as some of the other locations around Austin and certainly worth the stop.  Even if you haven't eaten lunch or dinner, venture outside of the box and eat dessert first.  Amy's is so delightfully delicious!

Hello how could I not try ice cream that has such a cool name?  Ice cream was delicious and I enjoyed every bite!  The servers were super cool too.  The line itself was a bit long and moved slowly but that's only because they were making the whip cream fresh.  Impressive for the airport terminal location.

My wife & I few into Austin yesterday.  Since we were going to wait for a couple of hours until another of our friends was flying in, we were told by our hosts to get some Amy's Ice Cream before leaving the terminal to get claim our luggage.  Being dutiful friends (especially around food), we readily complied, finding Amy's soon after deplaning.

Amy's had a lot of interesting flavors, including Mexican Vanilla (as opposed to regular vanilla), Garlic, Rainbow Rock and Irish Cream (with alcohol!).  My wife chose the small Dreamsicle flavor on a sugar cone, while I went with a large Butter Pecan on a waffle cone (I had flying, so this was my reward).  My ice cream cone was delicious, with large pecan nuts floating in the rich, buttery ice cream.  And the waffle cone was great:  the mouth was very wide, so it could hold a lot of ice cream, and very thick, so it wouldn't fall apart so easily.  My wife loved her flavor, too.  I tasted it just to try, but I don't like the creamsicle taste.

Along with the desserts, our servers were funny.  It was just the "3rd day" for one of the staff, and the "4th day" for the other server.  Both were very entertaining as they served us and the other patrons.  This is a must to check out either flying into or out of Austin.

Amy's may look like other places that do the same thing, but they are not the same.  I heard the story that when you interview for Amy's you are given a brown paper bag and told to make something out of it.  That right there takes creativity, so there is one place I know I would never get a job!

Now down to the nitty gritty.  I didn't quite know what to get so I went with the pumpkin ice cream and graham cracker.  I love pumpkin pie and this was pretty darn close.  The folks behind the counter were characters, tossing your frozen creations here and there during the process which was entertaining to say the least.

If I ever find my self in a pinch needing to satisfy my sweet tooth and I see Amy's I will not hesitate to walk on up and order something yummy.

What movie is the quote, "You're the boss, applesauce" from?

If you know random trivia like this one, you could get a free mix in/topping on your ice cream at Amy's! I was on through flight back to California and was literally in Austin for 10 minutes. The flight crew told me this airport was Bobby Flay's favorite airport to eat at. I don't know if that's true but I speed walked to the food court as fast as I could to find out. I didn't have time for a full meal so BBQ was out of the question.

Amy's Ice Cream is like Ben & Jerry's if it married Cold Stone with lots of decedent flavors and mix in's. I sampled Birthday Cake which was tasty but I got a small cone of Roasted Almond. It had whole almonds swimming in creamy vanilla ice cream! The male ice cream scooper was so nice too. He gave us great service with a smile and a hint to the question (think Andy Warhol). It's so nice how 10 minutes can make your whole day. Thanks Austin! I hope to be back very soon.

Just what I need when preparing to sit on my ass for the next 4-5 hours while hurtling through the sky.

How about a tiny scoop of sorbet, that won't hurt anything...ooohh chocolate ice cream...ok I'll have that in a dish....yeah sure a waffle cone sounds good....mix ins?...ok, how about heath bar and almonds and just hand it on over before the damage is any worse.

Great ice cream and free wi-fi makes me very happy :)

    No. Not. Never.

I foolishly ordered the frozen yogurt here last week, thinking it would be a nice treat as I headed out on a flight outta town.

Dear Little Baby Jesus, please send some pure purple light into Amy's brain and tell her that her frozen yogurt tastes like frozen Play-Doh and as such, should not be served to humans at any price, let alone the nearly four bucks they charged me at ABIA.

I took two bites and threw it out. Two bites because the first was so awful I assumed I wasn't "reading" it correctly. But two bites were all I could stand. It was that bad.

Amy's, there's no excuse, none, for having frozen yogurt that tastes worse than any I've ever eaten in my life. Just take if off the menu and be done with it.

One star for the nice person who served me. But honestly, she should have asked me to taste it first. Surely she must know how horrific this stuff is.

I'm pretty impressed by the Austin airport. It is sizable, not confusing, and has a good strip of good food. BBQ, Tex Mex, and Ice Cream all in one row makes me feel like a seasoned Texan visitor. After days of eating BBQ with no sweets, I was very much looking forward to eating Amy's at the airport - odd I know but I had no other opportunity the whole stay in TX, sadly.

The outside appearance of the place got to me - caught my eye for both arriving and departure flights. When I first past by, I overheard the drumming and slamming of two metal, farm-like tools going at it. It was an Amy's employee going to town, mixing in some sort of topping into the ice cream - Cold Stone style for all you West Coasters. What a show! I stopped for a few seconds as if I was at Universal City Walk all of a sudden.

They have some pretty good flavors (mexican vanilla), toppings (nutter butter), and pre-set sundaes. I'm usually a coffee kinda girl but one try of the mexican vanilla had me hooked. Texture was very creamy, almost soft serve like, and the flavor was explosive. I hate plain vanilla ice cream but this was anything but that. I mixed it with some nilla crackers for texture and it was really good. Their cookies 'n cream flavor also uses the mexican vanilla, so I highly recommend this for the CnC folks out there.

I wouldn't say it's the best ice cream I've ever had, but in the land of BBQ and few desserts, this place did its job.

I appreciate the fact that Amy's has various sizes including a small which really is small.

I ordered the frozen yogurt.  It was supposed to be super tangy.  It was okay.  Not very tangy.  The texture was smooth and creamy, not icy.

I don't get it.  What's the big deal about Amy's?  It's not any better than brands at the grocery store.

Amy's at the airport is an awesome thing...  I've been at their main Austin locations before, so this is a great substitute when there is not a lot of time to make the trek.  Had their chocolate grand marnier.  Was a bit too sweet for my taste.  Would probably be perfect if they had dark chocolate with the grand marnier to balance it out...  Either way, good option to have while traveling out of Austin.

I want to make sure to point out that the 2 women working at Amy's yesterday could not have been nicer - and they looked like they were having a great time.  Most people at airports - travelers and employees are not happy looking people.  While there was a little line at the Amy's counter - it was 100% worth the wait.  You even can get a free topping if you guess the artist of the song correctly.
I had Mexican vanilla frozen yogurt.  I still don't know what Mexican vanilla is but it was totally delicious.  The Austin airport get big bonus points for having local businesses in the airport. I had read a little bit about Amy's while in Austin but I didn't have a chance to stop.  I was really happy to find an Amy's in the airport and I am happy to support local businesses.

    Amy's at airport

You can get $1 Frosty from Wendy's. But why do I want to pay over $4?
    First, because it's at airport
    Second, because it's Amy's.

I wanted milk shake originally, unfortunately they are out of mild shake. I chose some alternative, called frostede. You can choose whatever taste of ice cream and soda. They will use blender to mix them together.
So I chose half coffee and half chocolate ice cream mixed with root beer. I didn't choose any alcohol ice cream because I don't know if it will match with soda. It tastes good. And something even better is they took reward card and punched another hole on it.

Recommend their alcohol ice cream, like chocolate with grand marnier.

After reading all these terrific reviews, I certainly feel like the major exception. The girl at the counter was so crass and rude we walked away without even ordering. Every company has it's super stars as well as their embarrassments  - unfortunately I picked the wrong day to visit, getting stuck with the latter. Walk away is always the best way to avoid giving your cash to a company screaming out they already have too much, and don't want yours.

My one and only bad experience in my entire trip to Austin.

Mexican vanilla with chocolate chips and walnuts is my poison. Enjoy the eccentric staff and then dig in to your frozen dairy delight.

This review isnt for the ice cream -- its for the fact that this is the only place (food wise) that has diet coke in the whole airport.  If you're like me, and think that fountain diet coke is delightful and diet pepsi tastes like floor cleaner, then head on over to the nice androgynous folks at Amys and get yourself a 32 ouncer.

This Amy's ice cream, a local favorite, is strategically located inside the airport terminal.  A great location to allow the travellers to experience the tasty ice cream one last time before leaving Austin.  They carry some very unique ice cream flavors and the texture was smooth and creamy.  Worth a try but don't expect it to be the best ice cream you ever had.
