My boyfriend and I decided to get breakfast this morning after I got out of class and he suggested Amy's Cafe, which is just a few mins away from CSUEB. I was surprised where it was located because I go there all the time to go to Dollar Tree or Fresh N Easy and never noticed the diner. We were greeted by this lovely woman who was really nice. We were surprised how she was the only person running the diner! She was our waitress, cook, cashier, and dish washer lol. She was a beast lol

We got the Tuscan Veggie Omelette (I think that's what it's called) , Strawberry Waffle, and a hot chocolate. They were delicious! I don't really go out for breakfast so this place made a great first impression. I can't get over how good it was! The waffle was crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the inside, just like funnel cake! The powdered sugar, whip cream, and hot syrup made it even more delicious. And I love how it wasn't overly sweet. The omelette was delicious as well. The ingredients in it were very fresh and tastey.  My hot coco was nice and hot. I hate when I order hot drinks and they come luke warm, but it was prepared just how I like it. It had whip cream and chocolate drizzle.

I will definitely recommend this place to my family and friends. Forget Ihop and Dennys! I can't believe I just found this place today when I live so close.

    Good place to have breakfast!

Breakfast sausage is the best on what I had here! Get French toast meal comes with 2 eggs and 2 sauage or bacon I forgot how much but worth it whatever the cost was.

They only take cash if you don't have, you can swipe your debit on the little machine (almost like an ATM) with a dollar something charge.

Good and fast friendly service. Yay!

Quick service, friendly, easy-going, good food, lots of options. What else is there to say?

Oh, I know... they dont take my AMEX (or any cards, I think) there, which sucks.

However, the lady didnt know me from a hole in the wall and says, "dont worry about it. come pay me next time." (already awesome)

When I explained that I live in NY and was flying out later that day, she said, "dont worry about it." again, as if to state that I dont have to pay.

Naturally, I did NOT take her up on her offer.

I went to an ATM, got some cash, and called it a wrap.

    I'd definitely eat here again.

(Oops - forgot to mention that they have nice outdoor seating)

Found this place by reading the reviews, there were several that gave only one star, but many more with 4 and 5, figured would be worth a shot as a Saturday morning get together with my mom and dad for Mothers Day.
It is a very small diner, Just Amy and her waitress, they were both very attentive to our needs, food was prepared quickly and correctly. Portions were right in line with the cost.
I ordered an omelet it had very fresh avocado slices and the Hash browns were nice and crispy just like I ordered. Coffee was good and fresh. The other items ordered from our group were pancakes, french toast and biscuits and gravy, the only down side to the entire order was the gravy was a little thin, good flavor but a little thin. Walked away feeling I had a very good meal at a very fair price. will definitely be back for a lunch meal as the reviews say the burgers are very good.

So this place is the bomb. This place is pretty hidden in a shopping center near Sonics, on the far end of Mission Blvd. But boy was it worth it. I came here with three buddies for a lovely Saturday brunch.

The place was pretty cramped but very homey. There were pictures of Amy with customers/family. Amy is very friendly and you can see her cooking the food as its ordered behind the counter. Our waitress was friendly enough but didn't blow me away with customer service, I would have preferred Amy as our waitress she seemed uber friendly.

The food was excellent, a little pricey compared to a Denny's or an IHOP but a little bit worth it. I got 1 pancake and 2 french toast. The presentation was beautiful with the powered sugar, a square piece of butter, fresh strawberries, and cinnamon on a clean white plate. My friends also enjoyed their dishes, a Texas bbq sandwich, a fireman's burger (huge), and an everything omelette. All the dishes looked delectable. My pancakes were fluffy and melted in my mouth. The french toast was so french it brought back fond memories of my summer in France, eating french toast with Antoinette, my french lover, at a bistro overlooking the eiffel tower at sunrise. But really, it was yummy, just wish the portions were a little bit larger.

The prices were good, but expected a little more on the portion size with the higher prices. Also there is a small charge for using credit/debit, so try to bring cash if possible.

    2 french toast: 4.15$
    1 Pancake: 2.30$

Note: My pinoy bro thought Amy was beautiful, so if you're reading this Amy, my friend is NOT single, so I am sorry. We also are wondering if the cover photo is a picture of Amy with her daughter?

I would have given this place 5 stars if the waitress was more attentive to our needs. I'm not sure if she wasn't friendly or just awkward because she was very monotone. On the other side the food was excellent and a good portion for it's price. I thought it was interesting that my entree came with side of bread and i had to wait a couple of minutes for it, shouldn't it have come at the same time with my entree? Amy seems quite friendly. The atmosphere has a very home feel to it even though the place is kind of small.
downside is that as a table of people we didn't get our food all at the same time, so we had to wait for our friends food before we could eat.
Side note: Bring cash! if you don't want to pay extra for using your card
My friends and i all enjoyed the food ranging from breakfast, hamburgers, to sandwiches. I will definitely be coming back and trying other things on the menu.

It was Saturday morning and we were driving up 880 north not knowing exactly where we'd eat for breakfast, until my trusty iPhone and it's awesome Yelp app led us to Amy's Grill & Cafe.

Walking in, it was quaint little spot, with a few tables, seats at the little counter area and a small area for kids which had books and such.  We were seated at the first table right at the door.  I would totally classify Amy's as a greasy spoon, but with a homey atmosphere.

I ordered the corned beef hash which was served with two eggs, hashbrowns and choice of toast.  I ordered my eggs soft scrambled, the hashbrowns well done and an English muffin.  The s/o ordered their breakfast burrito, which was recommended by our server, it had a fancier title to it though.  In addition, we shared one pancake between us.

Our breakfasts came out in a sufficient time, being that there was only one person doing all the cooking, whom I believe was Amy.  But man oh man, I will say that it was the best corned beef hash I've had in a very, very long time!  When I asked for my hashbrowns to be well done, which were cooked perfecly, she also cooked my corned beef well done, which I've never had before and, OMG it was spectacular!  The s/o also really enjoyed the breakfast burrito saying that it was in fact really delicious and was definitely a great recommendation.  The pancake was pretty huge and fluffy but pretty basic.  I had their coffee, which was a little weak for my taste but, it stimulated my taste buds enough to at least trick my brain.

We spent around $22 for the two of us, which was not bad at all.  NOTE:  Although everyone says it's cash only, I saw a couple customers use some type of ATM/POS device on the side, but when in doubt, cash is king.

Overall, we both enjoyed our breakfast very much and left delighted knowing that we've found a spot out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the IHOP, Denny's and Country Waffles chaos, I mean, crowd.  We look forward to coming back!

Can't believe I haven't written a review for this awesome treasure that i came across a while ago.

Been here multiple times for breakfast and you really cant go wrong with any omelet and hasbbrowns. During my last visit I tried the spinach, tomato, basil Benedict and i was truly amazed by the quality of these eggs.

Though it seems like this establishment is mainly run by the owner, they never seem to take long with orders to come out, and when the extra waitress is there, she is very friendly and always keeps my coffee cup full.

Ample parking, good food, fast service. Maybe get rid of the ATM service charge and ventilate the bacon smell that lingers, and you have yourself another star from me.

I was really excited to try this place out, but I guess my expectations were too high.

The one thing I will say is that Amy is very personable and her customer service is exemplary. However, when it comes to the food I can only give it a 2.5 stars AT THE MOST.

Maybe I went on an off day or something, but the eggs benedict and hashbrowns were beyond bland and I felt like it was a huge waste. My brother's burger was cooked to perfection and it made me think I should have opted for a lunch item.

Though I enjoyed the service form Amy and our waitress, I will not be coming back. I have had much better food at better prices.

Charming little breakfast spot run by a one-woman dynamo! The last couple of times I've been here, Amy has been all alone - cook and server! You should see her in action - amazing! The service is wonderful and the food is what you would expect - good 'ole American breakfast! The french toast IS quite amazing, but I usually go for the standard omelet or two eggs + hasbrown breakfast.

This place is tiny so I can imagine how the wait must be on a Saturday or Sunday morning, especially when she treats everyone like family, which makes everyone want to come back for more! The place is really small so I wouldn't suggest coming in a group of more than four. They have one long table and that is usually occupied already. To their credit, they do have tables outside and that could be nice, but there's not much to see.

Cash only, so don't forget to go to the ATM!

I'll continue coming as long as Amy can dish up the goodies!

Wow.. how does a small, tiny place like this survive for so long.. especially in this economy?

Simple answer: great food at decent prices.

It's pretty much run and operated by one wonderful person with some help of a waitress... so.. pretty much 2 people work there at a given time. The cook.. and the waitress.. Talk about a hole-in-the-wall... yeah.. this would certainly be one.

I can't imagine how crazy it would be if this place was over-populated with people wanting to get food.. There would be easily a line out the door because this place is so tiny. Service was great considering there are only two people. Food came out in a timely manner.. and it was delicious.

Small local places like this.. I always find myself drawn to.. Not only to support the local business... but food like this is cooked with some love.. and has that awesome home cooked meal feeling that only small diners can give you. And this place was certainly small!! I think I've commented enough on how small this place is.. LOL.

Definitely coming back if I'm in the area again.

I love Amy's.  They are always so friendly. My wife and I love to walk there for breakfast and sometimes I stop by to pick up a burger or blt for lunch and they are very good. Its the diner I always wanted to live just down the street from, and now I do, very homie and Amy always asks about me and the family.

Cute lady who owns and runs this whole place by herself. She's the owner, the cook and the waitress!

When we went it wasn't busy So that was good for us. I had the hot sausage links with eggs, and hash towns extra crispy. And the hash browns were sooooooo yum!!!!!

We only had breakfast there but its a really cute place to go to and the hash browns were on point. I'd definitely go back to try the many other things on the menu when I visit that area again.

Kudos to Amy! She was super friendly and sweet. :)

Awfully cute diner that only fits about 20-30 people. There was no wait when I arrived on a weekend morning, but who knows how busy this place can possibly get. There was only Amy the chef in the kitchen (all by herself!) and one server, but the food came out miraculously within a few minutes of ordering and service was impeccable.

Ordered the eggs benedict, sausage eggs hashbrowns, and a side of french toast for 2 to share. WAY too much food, lesson learned. Their french toast was delicious, sliced thin just the way I like it. Their eggs benedict was on the heavy side (lots of sauce) but it was flavorful and cooked perfectly.

Great value for the money! Will definitely return.

That being said, this little place was a great spot for our weekly Saturday breakfast.  The food was good, though the biscuits and gravy were lacking a little, and the staff was super accommodating.  After already being seated inside and deciding we wanted to sit outside they moved us with no problem.  When a pesky bee interrupted us, they kindly moved us back inside without so much as a sideways glance.

Bottom line: Very cute place, impressively family run, but it would be nice to be able to use plastic.

I came here for breakfast a few times. Good and people are great. Their omelets, fruit bowls, toast with butter and syrup is to die for but so is the paying method.

...and that's where I take points away fro these folks. If you're using CC as a form of payment. Then it better be in debit form so you best have a pin number ready. Its like this... Cashier will tel you the total and you do a transaction on the withdrawal machine then whatever the difference is, the cashier will give you the change back. It's plain weird. If you're a merchant. Take the transaction hit. Everyone else does it. No biggie. This method seems like the Asian business practice. Almost all of em do it.

Whatever. It's annoying. The place is cozy, and if you didn't know about it. You'd drive right past it. It's located in sonics plaza. Just so you don't drive past it. Good food and seems like a hit with the locals.

I'd go here again but with cash at hand. Ehhh.

The fact that there are so many 5 star reviews for this place concerns me.  I'm not trying to be funny or dramatic (REALLY this time!) but I am honestly baffled by what is REALLY going on.  NOT TO MENTION that there are TWO reviews here that are EXACTLY, word-for-word the same but by TWO different people!! (sunil and james s)

Went here on Easter Sunday (not really realizing it WAS Easter Sunday!) for brunch with my Honey.  He ordered fish and chips and I ordered the veggie breakfast burrito with a slice of french toast on the side.  The very FIRST thing I noticed was that the bread for the french toast was just plain old "wonder bread" type bread (I had read here that the french toast here was "delicious" so I was expecting a little more)--but no big whoop.  So I tried the french toast and I don't know whether it was the butter or the powdered sugar but SOMETHING tasted like it had been sitting next to onions!  It had a very stale, oniony flavor.  I look over to my BF's plate and I noticed that all of his fish sticks were uniform triangular type things.  OBVIOUSLY from a bag...like Gordon's or something, according to him, the fries tasted the same--from a bag.

Now the BIGGEST disappointment--the breakfast burrito.  It was not only bland but the hash browns that were inside (btw, I was expecting cut potatoes not hash browns) were again, OBVIOUSLY from a bag and were the kind that are meant to be fried in oil first...the result was that these were pale and mushy and just disgusting, I never did see much egg and the veggies were too crunchy (like still too raw).  I was SOOO hungry though!!! So in order to eat this madness I had to cover it in Tapatio for some flavor!

I understand that people have different tastes and maybe we chose things off of the menu that weren't the BEST things...like maybe the burgers here are the bomb or whatever--but I just find it UNFATHOMABLE that this place has come by all of these 5 star ratings honestly (especially considering the duplicate reviews penned by different authors)....I really do.  And I have absolutely NOTHING against the establishment OR the owner or anyone else.  I just feel like for those of us who use Yelp trying to figure out the BEST place to go to spend our HARD EARNED dollars, we DESERVE truthful, honest, reviews.

Just happened upon this place last week, saw it got good reviews and decided to give it a try. The owner and an employee were in there at the time and were both incredibly nice. Went with the Patty Melt and a Vanilla Milkshake. The shake alone was worth the price of admission. I have no idea what's makes one places shake better than anothers but it was absolutely delicious.

The Patty Melt was tasty but not all world caliber. Could have used a little more flavor but definitely passable. Will definitely try it again if I'm in the area if for nothing other than the milkshakes :)

This place sit right next to Sonic, small with a handful of tables and some seating at the counter, the plastic trays connecting the table was kind of weird.

The young waitress seems to be new, very new, her table wiping skill was not there yet, only wiping the center and with a wet rag that left a big wet spot in the middle, the outside still dirty.

I asked her what is in the Chef's Omelet, since the menu didn't have any description, she answered with "Sorry, I don't know" and stood there, okay then, I guess I won't be getting that, too early for a mystery.

Amy was cooking behind the counter, and she had her hands full. Both of our omelets were good, and decent portion, but nothing really stood out for me.

I finally tried out Amy's Grill for the first yesterday and I have decided that I have a new spot for my morning breakfast needs!

    Content 4.5/5
Being that this was my first time here I really wasn't quite sure what to get. Being that I typically like eggs and sausage and don't usually eat all my pancakes/waffles I decided to try their omlette. When it had arrived the first thing I noticed was that it looked beautiful. I love omlettes but my experiences with it at places like ihops and denny's has left me rather jaded to the point that I'm actually afraid to order them. The egg typically looks unappetizing and the size makes it feel intimidating. Here at Amy's Grill was the complete opposite. For one the size was perfect, I hate to take food home to be honest so knowing that they had given me enough to actually finish and be satisfied was automatically a plus. After biting into it I knew that I never would have to be afraid to order an omlette ever again. The meat was tender and filled with flavor, the veggies and toppings blend very well together. Their hash browns weren't really anything all that special to be honest, then again they are just hash browns. I also love the fact that they've got tapatio hot sauce, I hate tabasco. My only real knock is at the orange juice. I understand that it's expensive for them I'm sure but it 's a rather small serving to go with my fairly large meal.

    Service 4/5
They only had 2 workers while I was there - amy the cook and the waitress. With that being said the service was actually pretty good. Very friendly and with the amount of work the waitress had to do the food came out relatively quick. At the same time it took me a while to flag her down for a cup of orange juice. It isn't really her fault, again she was attentive and very friendly and pleasant to be around but like I said with only 1 server there's only so much multitasking that can be done.

    Atmosphere 5/5
Ah this is really my favorite part. I'm a huge advocate for supporting the local businesses and amy's grill fits perfectly into the category. It's been awhile since I've gone to a mom and pop shop so finally experiencing it again was absolutely delightful. The place is a bit small but it's extremely cozy, especially since it had heating and it was a very cold morning that day. I didn't get to talk to Amy much considering how busy she was but hopefully after going there a few more times she'll actually get to know me on a first name basis (it's just nice to be able to go to a place where everybody knows your name =) ). The large windows that surround much of the place lets in a lot of natural sunlight that really makes breakfast feel like breakfast. Best of all because it's in a shopping center parking is easy and convenient!

    Overall 4/5
This place is a winner in my mind and my heart. From the moment I walked in I fell in love with the atmosphere. The warm room and friendly workers made this place and instant winner. Add great food into it at fairly good deals and this place is near perfect. Again it's understandable that being a local business they've only got so many people working but again if you're used to fast paced service it can be a bit of a wait for your food to come. It's honestly a place where you can meet up with a friend or a loved one and just sit, talk, and enjoy a great breakfast. Oh and because the orange juice isn't free refill....you can run up a bill for ordering more considering the small portion they give you.

Fate lead me to this place this morning for a delicious breakfast!

The bf and I were originally going to another place in Union City for breakfast, unfortunately it was the name of an ex. FORTUNATELY, we got there and saw it was closed on Tuesdays. Bummer because we were tired and hungry but I was lucky enough to remember a place starting with an "A..." and bf was there to finish my sentence and lead me to it.

I would have never expected that this small place would be hidden amongst the Rite Aid, Sonics, Taco Bell, and Jack in the Box. It is soooo cute! It's kind of like a hole in the wall place, size wise at least. I was a little taken aback because I was like, is there enough room for us? Where are all the workers? Omg..it's just Amy working? Holy crap. I read some reviews that it gets crowded. Lucky enough for us, there was a kind of large party that just got there and a few people on their way out.

The menu had a lot of stuff! Boyfriend stuck with the light breakfast [eggs, toast, sausage patty, hash browns] and I was a bit adventurous and got the Hot link and cheese omelette with hash browns and toast. I read that the stuff here is pretty greasy, that was my only thing I was worried about. But it wasn't. Boyfriend really liked the hash browns because there was a lot and they weren't greasy. I don't know you have to ask him to explain it to you, hahaha. But overall, all the food was delicious and for one person cooking everything and running the place, it was pretty damn amazing.

Under $20 for a delicious, not to mention HOME COOKED breakfast that I totally didn't regret or feel bad about later.

Thank you Amy! Your place is wonderful and your eyes are beautiful! [sorry if that's a bit creeper, but I couldn't help but notice] We'll be back :]

Amy seems like an amazing woman. She was pleasant and appears to be very hard working and multi-talented. She cooks, cleans and waitresses. She seems to have a regular set of customers based on the fact that she seemed to know the names of the folks.

This would have been a 5 star rating except for a couple of things.
    a) The food was pretty good for the most part but some of the dishes had way too much butter like the french toast and pancakes. Suggestion would be to serve the butter on the side.
    b) May want to talk to the other waitress about her attitude. Was way too grumpy and spoke in mono-syllables. I can imagine that it is hard for a young girl on a Sunday morning to go to work but must realize the affect it is having on the customers. Definitely a downer.

This place was a little hard to find and is in the island next to the florist in this strip mall.

Best breakfast in Hayward!!! We went for the first time today and really enjoyed the whole experience. I would have never tried the place if I hadn't seen it on Yelp( it is very small). Amy even gave us a complementary order of french toast. We ate  everything on the plate.

A decent breakfast was had by two.

I've been passing by this quaint little eatery for awhile now and was craving for a quick breakfast. We walked in on a Sunday morning with only one waitress and one cook in the back, which I believe is the owner Amy.

We shared the corn beef hash and turkey patty breakfast. The turkey patty was delicious, seasoned with a variety of herbs. It definitely tasted homade. Corn beef hash and hashbrowns were crisp-tastic. My one disappointment were my over medium eggs. One of my eggs came to me with a broken yolk. The pool of neon yolk made some of my hashbrowns soggy.

I can't put down the cook though. The amount of food she was cranking out all by herself was amazing. A true woman cook warrior.

The service was a bit of a disappointment. A family of 5 sat down after us, but the waitress took their order before ours. The wait time for our food increased by 15 minutes. Not necessarily a bad thing, but with one cook in the house it made a huge difference.

I'll stop by a next time, but maybe I'll order take if it's overly crowded during peak times.

My friend had her graduation celebratory lunch at Amy's Grill and my first question to everyone was, "Is this place a popular breakfast spot?" I asked because when we tried to order cheese fries, they replied that they had run out of potatoes! That alone was definitely an indication of Amy's Grill being a Hayward hot spot.

Turns out my friend and her family are regulars at Amy's Grill and actually took pictures with Amy after our meal, haha. Amy's Grill feels very much like a country kitchen; it's relatively small, but comfortable, warm, and accompanied by friendly employees and attentive service.

We came during the lunch hour, so I'm not sure how much staff they have working during the breakfast rush, but I'm pretty sure Amy was the only person preparing the food because I noticed that our food delivery was disjointed. Not to say that's a bad thing, I'm just used to having everyone's food arrive together; it left a few of us waiting for others to finish, while some hadn't even received their food yet!

However the food was savory, I munched on their onion rings as an appetizer, and ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with a side of macaroni salad as my entree. The portion sizes are good, too. One of my friends ordered the "Lumberjack" which is supposedly a reputable dish at Amy's Grill, and let me sample a bite; the Lumberjack is a steak sandwich that's covered in mushrooms, American and Jack cheese, and served in a torpedo roll - it was nothing short of delicious!

All in all the food was great, and when I'm in the area I hope to stop by again. What I would recommend though, is that they have more help in the kitchen, but then again I'm not sure what the circumstances were when I went in. Maybe one of the chefs called in sick? *Shrug.

Amy seems like an amazing woman. She was pleasant and appears to be very hard working and multi-talented. She cooks, cleans and waitresses. She seems to have a regular set of customers based on the fact that she seemed to know the names of the folks.

Even if the service wasn't supernatural, the food alone was enough to earn her the five stars. But, she did a great, job, was quite personable, and got all of our orders right from memory.

This place is great for breakfast and Sunday Brunch but, you better get there early because seating fills fast. My wife and daughter's just loves Amy's.  She does take-out also.

This place was a little hard to find and is in the island next to the florist in this strip mall

Never knew this plaza existed until now.  You wouldn't either because it's newly built but in a grungy area of Mission Blvd.  I like how every little shop is overshadowed by the gigantic Sonic's right by it.  In any case, visit Amy's Grill.

It's small and incredibly unassuming.  There are slightly more than a handful of two to four seaters making the space available for about twenty max.  I like how the menu reminds you of what breakfast foods organically started out as: just a combination of some eggs, meat, and something sweet.  Nothing gourmet or fancy here.  My pancake special will prove just that - it's comprised of eggs how you want it, two fluffy pancakes, and your choice of sausage or bacon.  I normally don't opt for scrambled but decided to go against my will and do it; unfortunately, they were overcooked.  The pancakes and sausage (in my mind, the healthier meat choice) were simple and homey.

It's a busy busy place with many regulars.  You see Amy in front of the grill cooking everyone's food and the waitress doing as much as she can in between.  The warmth of this place gives you the tingles.

    This place is GREAT!
The food was good portions for a good price...best part is the friendly service.  It's in the middle of a HUGE shopping center and not visible from the street.  This place is small, but soooooo great!
Amy made our breakfast and her waitress served it to us with a smile and they even hooked our friend (it was his bachelor party breakfast) with a "special something something"  hahaha
    Amy rocks my socks!!!!
Only downside is they don't have egg substitute, but oh well.

Might be the yummiest western burger I have had in a long time! It was big too, I couldn't finish it. Amy is a sweet lady who can COOK! The breakfast here is so good too. She even has an area with children's books, which my son enjoyed. They only accepted cash when I was there which can be an inconvenience , but there is an atm is in the same shopping center.

Breakfast is not only the most important meal of the day, but it's also probably the most delicious. Well, at least in my world it is.

Had my late lunch there a little while ago with a good friend. I was a little skeptical and I had never come across it on Yelp. I didn't even have time to Yelp it since we were so hungry!

It's a small nice little spot. Like a ma & pop diner with kind staff =)

My friend ordered the breakfast burrito and my my did it look tasty. I didn't get a chance to try it, but it looked delicious and I think he had just a little bit left over but he said it was great. I ordered an omelette with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese! OMG I mean, it's just an omelette but you can tell she knew how to make the perfect omelette!

I really love this place!  However, they do charge you a fee for using a debit card. It's fine though! Definitely a place to try out for a good, hearty, home-made, delicious breakfast/brunch food!

Breakfast Burrito was life-changing. I have to say that I'm biased towards the awesomeness of Amy's restaurant because she flawlessly served my table and like 5 others BY HERSELF, with not even a buser to help her. Even if the service wasn't supernatural, the food alone was enough to earn her the five stars. But, she did a great, job, was quite personable, and got all of our orders right from memory. My wife's eggs benedict was cooked perfectly runny, with ridonkulous home made hollaindase sauce. My burrito was quite unique in that it came with a lavish compliment of sausage and cheese on top of it.

I told Amy that I'd review the restaurant and I hope she's checking in on it. However, I have to admit that I'm not from Hayward, so I'll only be able to check in every time I'm visiting the parents, but I'll be sure be there every time I do.

For over a year I went to Amy's a couple times a month always ordering a Western BBQ Burger and a root beer. It was absolutely perfect. The frys cooked just right, lots of bbq sauce and a giant burger. Then one day I decided to try something else, and it made me fall forever in love with Amy's. Every single dish I have tried (over 20 so far) was absolutely perfect and beyond delicious!
Amy's has everything I love and look for in a place to call home during lunch hours. The food is amazing, the portions generous, and it is far away from work! Services could be better, but when it's just Amy I have no complaints and her help is trying, but they seem to be changing quite often.
I've brought many friends, family and co-workers to Amy's and all of them absolutely love the food. Even the picky vegetarians adored her wide variety salads and veggie breakfast burrito!

Amy's is the best, and Amy herself is an asset to the neighborhood.  For breakfast or lunch this is a great place to get traditional food, made by Amy, that is a great value for your dollar.  Everyone in my family loves her french toast breakfast (add blueberries and bananas), and for lunch the BBQ chicken sandwich is awesome and the boys love her burgers.

Test it, really - in the same shopping center there is a Jack in the Box, KFC/Taco Bell, and a brand new Sonic that is getting a ton of business - but I guarantee you that if you go to Amy's and spend the same amount of money you will get much tastier food in good-sized portions, great service, and you'll be supporting a local instead of those big chains.  We live just a few blocks away and have been going for years - if you don't feel like sitting there to eat, try calling in your order and picking it up - it's way faster than even going through a drive through.  Try Amy's, you'll love it.

Wow this place/food is amazing!  I am glad to find this little gem inside this Hayward plaza!  It tucked away in between sonics and rite aid.  Its really hard to see off of mission blvd.  So My girlfriend ordered the Tuscany omlette which had pesto, green and red peppers, mushrooms and cheese and I order the sausage and spinach omlette.  The portions were just perfect and had a lot of flavors.  I love how Amy makes the hash browns here.  Crispy and golden brown!  Just the way i like it!  I can't wait to come back again.

    Ok...

1 star for being obviously not chain or corporate run

1 star for it being so small that there is only one cook, and you can see your order being made.

other than that... it was really a bit surreal.... I felt like I was on a totally different planet.  The area that it's in doesn't get a huge amount of traffic... it was 9:30 am on a Sunday morning and there was one other party of two people other than us.

The service was good... polite(after all it was just the waiter and the cook), and the food, while a slight bit odd, the whole place had that feel of being very homey and that I could get used to going there on a regular basis and really enjoy the people as they got to know me, and I tried different things on the menu.

I'll go back.. heck... it could be on my way to work.....

Great place for breakfast. Ive eaten here a couple times with my girlfriend, and enjoyed the service, food, and small setting. Went this morning, and sat outside on the patio. My girlfriend tried the Carmel Banana Nut Belgian Waffle with Walnuts, it was very good.

Typical breakfast menu, not too expensive, and worth the short wait if there is one.

They even do "egg whites" and substitutions for healthier options.

I have driven by this place for years and finally popped in with my son one day. Not only was the food quick and delish it was done with class and the location as a whole as a warm family feel. Amy is amazing - she cooks and somehow keeps up a conversation and relationship with regulars. I was impressed and will be visiting to put their lunch to the test! This could easy be one of those places people consider home for a meal out.
