You will never eat a more perfect apple than at Amy's.

First, you are idly strolling the streets of downtown Cedarburg. Suddenly you are sidetracked by what can only be described as "The Mecca of Carmel Apples" towering before you. You are in its tractor beam and it is pulling you in. Do you know why? Because there are Caramel Apples with Gummy Worms and Dirt Cake topping, Cashews, Chocolate and Chili Powder, White Chocolate and Apple Pie Spice, Black Forest, the list goes on and on. You have to see it to understand.

That old adage: You're like a kid in a candy shop - it's a literal statement here. You will most likely ping pong between the racks of apples in the front window, tissue in hand, trying to whittle down your apple choice. Don't sweat it babe, you can't go wrong. Each apple is huge in its diameter, they are heavy and dense Granny Smith's and when you cut into them you will find they are in pristine condition with nary a blemish. How they pick such magnificent apples is a mystery to me. Surrounding the luscious apple is a very generous layer of sweet, buttery, rich caramel and if you went for one of the topped apples, another layer of cookies, nuts, spices, candies, etc. Picking up the apples sometimes requires a backhoe due to their heft. One is certainly enough for two people to share, although sharing , eh, its overrated.....

When finally, you pick your apple, you bring it to the checkout counter, and they box it up for you in a perfectly cute bronze, cube. It's so exciting, getting that little cube, I feel like I am getting a birthday present or something. I need to warn you though, most people on their way up to the counter with their apple in hand will no doubt get distracted by the chocolates that flank the walls and grace the glass counter cases. Luckily, I am a mutant who loathes chocolate and therefore am impervious, however I've seen my fair share of patrons unable to resist the chocolate temptations.

The staff is always nice, and jovial. Although, I suspect they have a contact high being surrounded by all that sugar. I like to imagine them swirling around the kitchen like magical pixies making all the candies and apples with a  dusting of love and a spoonful of sugar. Shhh, shhhh, shhhh....don't ruin this little break with reality.

If an apple a day keeps the doctor away a diet of Amy's apples should make me the healthiest woman alive right?

Thank you to Amy's Candy Kitchen for righting a wrong!

After reading my review, I was contacted by John at their company, and he explained everything (about the picture taking at least!).  He had said that they have had people try and steal their product (process and recipe) and that's why they don't want people to take pictures (hence why I got yelled at for doing just that).   That being said, he mentioned that there was a sign on the front counter.

When you are THAT busy that there is a line and the front counters are blocked by people, the sign is impossible to see.  I guess he said they took down the sign, however.  And reading further reviews, I see I wasn't the only one who was scolded for taking pictures...

But he was extremely apologetic and definitely made it right with my family (see pictures).

It's great that they listen to their customers and offer solutions.  I am glad they care about customer service so much!

Damn, this place has some good Candy Apples!!!  These things are the size of my head and have enough chocolate on them to put you in a diabetic coma.  The reason for 4 stars, is I got yelled at for taking a picture of it in the store and that is a big no no.  Ooppps.  I left feeling like I needed to go stand in a corner somewhere.

I will never understand why clients and colleagues continue to send me popcorn, truffles - and now caramel apples. Scotch, cigars, cognac, tickets to the symphony..bring it. But it's a well-known fact I'm not a general fan of sweets. Methinks they're sending a subtle message and trying to fatten me up.

Anyhow, several of these arrived today and the office went wild. They are simply enormous and the varieties - staggering. Dark chocolate turtle with pecans, macadamia coconut turtle, Belgian chocolate, caramel and crushed Oreos, double dunked chocolate, and caramel covered in M&Ms were just some of the types which arrived in a quantity which quickly caused grown men in our office to squeal like 12 year old boys.

Smartly packaged in copper-ish colour boxes and well-preserved in tissue, these divine treats are to be enjoyed and shared. I was terrified of eating one of these alone. Instead, I accepted a sliver here and there from employees who gleefully dug in. Yumm-ariffic.

I join the other reviewers here in awarding five stars, but alas....this is my first and last twirl on the dance floor with Amy's apples.

    Mine Just Arrived Today!!!!

Since I don't have the opportunity to be in Cedarburg and probably won't ever go there, I'm just going to have to review Amy's based on my multiple experiences with their website and fabulous shipped caramel apples.

I'm not kidding when I say that Caramel Apples are one of my ultimate passions, and these caramel apples are THE BEST! AND, it's pretty amazing that they receive such an accolade even when they're shipped to you!

The only apple that comes close to Amy's was one I had in Disneyland a few years ago, but it was during a really restrictive phase in my diet, which may contribute to why it tasted like it was sent down from heaven and lovingly dipped in caramel by Jesus himself.

I highly recommend the milk chocolate dipped and the almond. It may just change your life and most certainly will change your day. They make special ones for weddings and while mine is neither planned nor coming up any time soon, I've got my eye on Amy's... now I just have to get engaged.

You people in Cedarburg don't know how good you have it. Shame on you for not sharing your dam confectionary shop with the rest of the world-oh wait that's right, YOU'RE SELFISH.

So, let me first point out that yes, I will drive 3 hours for the perfect caramel, turtle, M&M candied apple. And yes, it is worth it. Every $10 bill I spend on one. Why? Have you had one? Have you? I thought so.

This place is quite difficult to find from the highway. Get off the exit, go 10 miles in dead country backwoods, right at some nondescript gas station, past the "Piggly-Wiggly" (I'm going to pause for a second to point out there's a place called "Piggly-Wiggly" and it sells creme fraiche.  Okay, I'm going to take back the redneck comments I was about to insert.) Moving on...this lovely homey store is located in what is lovingly referred to as downtown Cedarburg.

I drove past "downtown" Cedarburg and kept going for miles till I hit grass. Backtracking and cursing to myself, I kept more vigil about reaching my goal for this fabled caramel apple house 2 ladies told me about as they fed me fudge and watched me giggle like a school girl. Yeah, I giggled. Hardcore.

The shop itself is about the size of a large living room with the feel of a county store looking at it from the front. They proudly display their one and only candied apples-about 12 different varieties all varying from about 3-6 lbs. of candy goodness. They also feature classic confectionaries including spun caramel sugar covered in chocolate (a Lake Geneva favorite.)

The lady of the shop employs high school girls who are trained in the time honored tradition of spinning and dipping hot syrups and sauces-how I wish I was a 16 year-old in Cedarburg.

The wrapping itself is very convenient and well thought as well-a tiny hole at the top will secure each apple in place and each apple gets it's own caramel colored and ribbed box. How's that for a hostess gift? The staff was so helpful and passionate about their craft, I couldn't resist and bought 5. And ate 3. And yes, it was worth the 1/2 hour it took for me to cut and demolish just one.

While it's been months since I've been to the fabled fabulous Amy's, it doesn't stop me from having them shipped to my home. So I raise this 5 lbs. apple to Amy, the queen of my butterscotch heart.

P.S. Oh my god, they have MORE flavors!! Why wasn't I alerted??!!

First, when you stand in the doorway, there is a blower blowing out the most wonderful caramel smell ever.  The windows are filled with more caramel apples than you can imagine.  They put anything they can think of on them!  However, we're not caramel apple people and $6-$10 per apple seems high even if they are amazing.

We go for the chocolates--esepecially the turtles--magnificent.

    Wonderful!

    WOW!
my mom sent me a terrifically yummy surprise - 3 amy's apples! - and while i've had other particularly fantastic caramel apples, these, must say, are fantastic.  the packaging, the quality - next time you have to gift something to someone perhaps hard to buy for, if they, say, eat food, you can't go wrong with these!  :)

The apples are delicious. The apples themselves are crispy and juicy and sweet. The toppings are awesome and creative. We have found that they make great gifts (even for foodies) and are popular at parties. Don't take my word for it, they have been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on FoodTV. The truffles are really good too. And the service is pleasant and polite. This is one of the gems of Cedarburg!

Be still my clogged, beating heart.  Amy's is the kind of place you never forget going to because it's THAT GOOD.  They are known for their out-of-this-world, crazy decadent caramel apples, covered in every scrumptious topping known to man.  Even if it's not caramel apple season (ahem, Halloween) you need not make an excuse for chomping into one of these bad boys.   Also, one time they sent my family a DOZEN for free as an apology for giving us the wrong ones.  They are so awesome I promise you won't even be upset when you can't button your pants the next day.

One of the gems of Cedarburg!

A destination spot too! I regularly drive up from Milwaukee just to get a few of the delicious caramel apples!

Great window display shows you the 20 or so varieties...favorites include the Sea Salt, Peanut, Heath, Oreo, M&M, Reese Pieces, a cranberry one with white chocolate...I could go on and on!

Lots of chocolate and nuts too!

    This place ROCKS!

A GREAT option too for promotional giveaways! They've put together a few orders for me, all in cute labeled boxes.

    Staff is always friendly!

Just all that Cedarburg is known for. I LOVE this place!

amy's candy kitchen will forever have my heart. all of their dark chocolate is vegan and DELICIOUS. and not only that, but they have massively ginormous non-pareils, like the size of a compact, which make me drool just thinking about them. i am physically unable to go through cedarburg without buying an entire box of the vegan non-pareils. i know everyone thinks of apples when they think of amy's, but perusing their candy case isn't too shabby, either. highly, highly recommend.
