Found this place by accident. Looked interesting. Started off great. The vegetable soup of the day was truly superior and accompanied by a delightful and delicious mini corn muffin.

I was happy that the vegetarian options featured a few choices and decided to test out the falafel wrap. The fries were wrinkle cut and cooked nicely. However, my wrap had onions on it, which I specifically requested be left off. This is a pet peeve for me.

As I waited for a remake, I noted that other tables were having to flag down waiters. Mine was okay, but the place wasn't busy.

Short story, good food and selection, but poor service in front and back.

The restaurant looked interesting, so I dropped in for lunch.  After a "I'll be right with you," followed by a 10 minute wait (maybe she intended to be "right with me"), I ordered their meat loaf.

Nothing noteworthy about the entree.  The vegetable, ordered as zucchini, turned out to be string beans.  The wait-person apologized for the wrong side, but I accepted it, on the presumption that they probably ran out of the other vegetable.  That was until I tasted it, and found it was actually "salt garnished with string beans."

Then the next cliche -- "How was it?"  When I said the vegetable was way too salty, she said, "It's seasoning."  "I know salt is seasoning.  There's just too much of it.  There shouldn't be any on string beans."  "No, the salt comes with the seasoning."  (So basically they use trashcan seasoning and dump about a bottle of the stuff on the the vegetables.)

So I paid the check, and the smart-aleck wait-person read my  name off of the card and called me by my first name as she returned the payment slip.  By that time I was totally peeved, and told her, "That was uncalled for."  She explained it was a security measure.

Go there if you want to pay for mediocre food and rude wait-staff.

I'm glad this place is a pain in the butt to find because I wouldn't want anyone to accidentally find themselves eating here.

First of all, smoking is now prohibited in most Virginia restaurants, but I guess Amy's didn't get the memo. The place smelled like Studio 54 and was decorated before I was born.

I asked for an egg-white omelet with toast. The server's face contorted and she said, "Hm I don't know if we have egg whites." Holy crap, what fills 80% of the inside of an egg?

She literally ran by the table and in passing she asked if I wanted white or wheat toast. I thought she said, "You won, right?" but I guess she said, "You want white?" because white is what I got even though I wanted wheat. The bread was GROSS. It was soggier than bread pudding and probably had more butter in it than bread.

I immediately lost my appetite after scraping swathes of melted butter and runny yellow egg off my toast. Too bad, because the hash-browns looked tasty although I'll never know.

This place is kind of hidden...it's a little off the main road. My husband happened to glance over and see it, and we stopped in last weekend and got a to-go menu. We got take-out from them tonight. They don't have a whole lot for vegetarians. They have a possible black bean dip appetizer (not sure if it's veggie or not), nachos, a possible potato soup, house salad, an egg-salad sandwich, and a veggie burger. The 2 sandwiches come with one side, which include fries, potato salad, slaw, pasta salad. cottage cheese, and chips. We both got house salads and veggie burgers. We were both happy with the food (although they forgot his side of pasta salad). Hubby said both times he has been inside the place, there was maybe ONE occupied table. That's sad. Oh, and they serve breakfast too. Lots of veggie options there. I think we will try it next weekend for breakfast.

I guess I should have heeded Leah S. and ordered the pancakes, because the onion, mushroom, and provolone omelette was at best mediocre.  Small star for swirled rye toast but the utter plainness of the offering overall, particularly given the price, says I'm not likely to return.

I agree with most off the previous reviews.  Amy's isn't gourmet or posh but the soup and sandwiches are generally tasty and the atmosphere is fun if you're into civil war nostalgia.  What the place lacks in food "wowness" it makes up for with environment.  Breakfast is standard fare and the dinner menu has some hits alongside it's misses.  Overall, it's a great local joint and worth the stop.  Be warned: the hours are quirky and limited due to some tenant-landlord issues.  Eat earlier if you want to give Amy's a try for dinner.

Great local place for the family.  My boys love the PB&J with fluff.  I'm partial to the French dip and my wife loves the Reuben. Nice atmosphere and a great opportunity to support our local businesses.

I came here with my family on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  They were open, and busy, but when we came we were assured we could order off of the breakfast menu.  However, after having a seat outside and waiting for 15 minutes, I had to actually flag down a waitress to ask about taking our order.  When I ordered, she stopped me mid-sentence and said, "Oh, we're not taking breakfast orders.." Uh... okay.  When I arrived, we were certainly in time for breakfast, but in the time it took for me to flag someone down, it was past time.  Nothing on the lunch menu looked good to me, so I just let my husband and child order since I didn't want them to be hungry.  With their orders in, the waitress left, and we waited.. and waited... and waited...  We watched tables that arrived after us get their food before us, and every time we asked about the status of our food, we were always told "10 more minutes."  Well, after 1.5 hours for 1 sandwich and a chicken strip basket, I'd had enough.  It wasn't even like this place was busy by this point either.  I told the waitress that if our food wasn't already done, she could cancel our order and we'd be on our way.  However, she came out with it (wrapped to go) and gave us a consolation piece of cake.  We're new to the area, and we're locals (repeat business, anyone? not here).  This was supposed to be a nice, relaxed day at a local eatery, and instead, my 2-year-old was left hungry, restless, and sunburned.  I was fed up, and I will never go back.  There are just too many restaurants that actually care about their customers for me to ever want to go back and support their sllloooooooowww business. Grade: F.
