They have so many options, so it's a bit intimidating to go through the line when people are waiting. Service was super friendly though. Everything was great - moist, good textures and chewiness.
Olive twist - chewy, fresh and briny. A little greasy on the fingers which was odd but still very good
Chocolate sourdough twist - lots of semisweet chocolate chunks throughout chewy, springy bread. So good.
Mini ham and cheese panini on potato bread - love the size and taste. Melty, crispy outer layer with chewiness underneath. A good little ham and cheese melt. -

I wish I lived in Manhattan so I could walk into Amy's Bread every day just to let the scent of fresh baked bread hit me in the face.
During my visit to NY, I walked past Amy's Bread once, regretted not walking in, so I went back to try some of their bread. My friends had their toast, which was nothing short of amazing. They must but coat the bread with some addictive substance because damn... it was so good.
Per my friend's recommendation, I had their hot chocolate. If you're a fan of chocolate, you will love theirs. It is extremely rich and apparently they put homemade marshmallows in there!
Oh I almost forgot I had their gingersnaps too. They were meh compared to the other two items, but that's not saying much because the other two were sooo good!
Only bad part is limited seating :( -

Quality varies by what you order. I've eaten at Amy's every day in the past four days, so here's what I do and do not recommend.
Good:
* Pumpernickel, sunflower seed, and currant twist
* Chocolate sourdough twist
* Seminola golden raisin and fennel twist - ++ on this, it's a bit unusual and well-done
* Black olive roll
* Sticky bun
* Kitchen sink cookie
* Double chocolate pecan cookie
* Oat scone
Not-so-good:
* Parmesan twist - this was dry, with little parmesan flavor.
* Prosciutto and black pepper twist - seemed exotic, like an experiment, and unfortunately tasted like one. The twist was pretty salty and not very meaty.
* Brioche lobster roll - very buttery and a bit too dry for my taste -

Sometimes they have long lines but they are quick about helping their customers and getting the line down quick. I love this place because you walk in and you smell the fresh bread and the customer service is great. I tried the demi baguette and the french baguette both very delicious especially dipped in soup. I would recommend this bakery

Amy's Bread is one of those places that makes me happy I live in New York. Finding quality bread in this country is more difficult than you would think, and Artisan shops like Amy's Bread are like an oasis.
My Favorites:
+ Their Rustic Italian loaf is exactly that. A loose shaped crusty bread with huge air holes. Perfect for dipping in olive oil!
+ Scones - Every scone I have had here has been awesome. Feathery, not overly sweet, and flavorful.
+ Baguettes - Just like those in Europe. SPOT ON!
I love Amy's Bread. -

The smell of freshly baked bread is intoxicating.
Whenever I'm in Chelsea Market, a visit to Amy's is always on the top of my list. This is my go to place for French Baguettes. I appreciate that they come in all shapes and sizes.
They also offer pastries, breakfast items, cupcakes, cakes by the slice, pizza, quiches, soups, sandwiches, and a variety of other hand-made breads. The employees are funny, friendly, helpful, and quick. Seating is limited here.
The baguette has a lovely golden brown color. The crust is crispy. The middle is slightly chewy and sweet. Delicious! I'm a fan of their cupcakes and cakes as well. The icing is a bit sweeter than I'd like but it's extremely smooth and creamy. The cake is moist, fluffy, and flavorful.
Looking for some delicious baked goods? Amy's is the real deal.Listed in: Cupcake Wars

Screw Atkins! Fill yourself with carby goodness at Amy's Bread. The Chelsea Market location is hopping around breakfast and lunch but for good reason. Where else in NYC's diet-obsessed culture do you have a 'bread menu'? Try the olive bread with a small pallet of buttery for a perfect warm, salty roll.
Bonus points if you walk through Chelsea Market at night to see them start baking bread on the night shift! It's really cool (you can see in through glass windows) and you can see how the magic happens. It starts around 9pm or so. -

This review is only for the cupcakes.
I tried one the other day and really wasn't blown away. They put a good amount of detail into frosting and decorating the cupcake. The frosting was delicious but the cake itself was just eh. Nothing too extraordinary that it would keep me coming back for more. Just your ordinary cupcake. -

I love freshly baked gourmet bread! My favorites are the black olive twists, semolina golden raisin fennel twists and chocolate rolls with sour cherries. I'm sure I will have more favorites once I try the other varieties. perfect chewy texture and fresh premium ingredients . best of all, no preservatives.

You must get the chocoholic twist or chocolate sourdough twist!! With just the right amount of chocolate chips, the choco twist is amazingly delicious, with a consistency oh so perfect, not too overwhelmingly rich or sweet. For only $1.60, all your sorrows and pains will go away with Amy's signature chocolate twist. Note, if you leave it out even for a few hours the bread will become hard.
Not only do I come here for the bread, pastries and baked goods, but this is my go-to-salad place for lunch. Amy's Bread offers salads such as tuna salad, hummus salad, chickpea and beet salad, cannelleni bean salad, with olive oil dressing and includes a complimentary roll of bread - get the pecan! (normally $0.65). All this for $7.25! I have to say that generally the tuna salad is fresh (I've had it a least five times) although the last time I had it, it didn't seem as fresh, with a more distinct fishy taste/smell.
The staff is friendly and they do their best to make sure you get your order taken quickly. -

Oh Amy's Bread... What would my life be like without you? Seriously, I think Amy and I are meant to be. She has a location right by my apartment in HK, one in the West Village where I go to school, and this one in Chelsea Market where I work. I think it's safe to say, that it is only fate.
On that note, it's probably superfluous for me to gush about this particular location because I obviously love all their goodies. However, one thing does set this location apart from the others. All of the breads are baked here! That's right, Amy's Bread bakes all of the bread for their three locations inside this huge storefront (as well as breads for other retailers). So you know what that means... come here for the freshest bread!
P.S. I absolutely love the seasonal pumpkin knot they carry right now. You can buy it by the big round loaf, or by the wedge for just $2. It's something between a challah and pull-apart pumpkin bread, wonderfully spiced and studded with walnuts. -

I love Amys Bread so much that I carry a ring in my pocket to give her when I walk thru Chelsea market.
When you walk in, you're going to be overwhelmed by the bakery. Its ok, let me tell you what to zero in on:
Small loaf of Potato Dill loaf
Small loaf of Semolina / Fennel yellow raisin bread
Small slice of almond brioche french toast
The "Kitchen Sink" cookies (all of the cookies are really really good)
Its nice to see them baking their signature bread for the other stores in NYC. -

Came here around dinner time once and it was completely empty. Place is pretty cool as all the bread is baked on site. This means that you the the freshest loaves in town. They have a large selection of flavors, and the staff on hand are meticulous when it comes to letting you know how to keep bread fresh after your purchase.
I ordered the Tuscan Sandwich and it was lovely. Layers of salami, prosciutto, and cheese on the amazing white loaf made me feel like I was in food heaven.
Do get your bread from here if you ever go to Chelsea Market. -
Review from Celia Z.
After googling best bread in NYC, Amy's Bread often came up in results. Starving myself one Saturday morning, I went with a friend to this place for lunch. While choosing out our sandwiches, we sampled on their peanut butter brownies, which were nutty and chocolately and peanut buttery and awesome. Sorry for my very ungrammatical words.
I decided on the Spinach With Havarti And Roasted Tomatoes on whole wheat five grain with clover sprouts and a tahini, yogurt & harissa sauce. The sandwich was a disappointment, as it had too much havarti, and the sauce, extremely overpowering and too sour, had already soaked the bread to a certain sogginess; the result was an overpriced tiny sandwich.
I also took home the Rosemary Twist unbleached flour, organic whole wheat and rye flours, water, natural starter, fresh rosemary, olive oil, salt and yeast, which had an overpowering taste of olive oil, as well as the sourdough roll. The sourdough roll was good, but it tasted artificial in that there were a lot of added ingredients that completely took away from the purity of sourdough bread: chewy, slightly dry, and a tad sour, along with natural yeast flavors. With each bite of the roll, I could taste oil sucking into my palette, something that I want in foccacia bread, but not sourdough bread.
So Amy's Bread=Big disappointment. Certainly its bread is better than your classic chain supermarket bread, but it is a far cry from a lot of other bakeries. -
Review from Eddy B.
A really fantastic baguette for $2.45. It's pretty cool that you can watch the workers making the bread and pastries. I bet their desserts are fantastic. Seems better than the one on Bleecker.

Amy's is the jump off..
Excellent selections of good, dense, crusty breads... Staff that isn't pushy and will smile with you as you act like a kid in a candy store... awesome small things like twists, cookies, and biscuits.... Fresh and baked on premises, solid affordability.... OOH yeah is Amy's good.
DO GET: Tangy Sourdough, Olive Twist, Prosciutto Twist, Rye, Cinnamon Challah.
Try: Everything else....
Walking around in Chelsea? Amy's is a must try.
Tip: Go later in the afternoon... they sometimes give you free bread before closing.Listed in: Food and coffee on the go in…, Shopping in the City...

2 stars or 3? Have tried a few breads here and really found them not to be good at all.
What I thought was delicious was their choco twist! -

This location is inside the Chelsea Market. They make a hot ham and cheese sandwich on their cheddar biscuit that is amazing.
You can look into the bakery from the Chelsea Market walkway and watch them making bread. Check it out if you are in the neighborhood. -

my favorite bakery in NYC to get fresh baked bread for cheese THUS FAR
whether you're just passing by googling through the windows at the on-site bakers, s, need lunch, or are choosing something from their HUGE VARIETY of breads.. amy's bread is the way to go!
Michael D. & i came here to find a good bread to pair with cheese and we FELL IN LOVE with their italian bread.. once this baby was toasted in the oven it went perfectly with our cheese!!.. crusty w/ a perfectly nutty taste!!
even DAYS later i sprinkled a little water on the bread and rebaked it (just as amy's suggests) & it was still yummy!
NOTE: little seating inside & they offer self guided tours if you contact the right person! -

I want to like this place SOOOOOO bad. I really do. I can say this about all the Amy's Breads. I love me some cupcakes. I have to say, I've never been impressed with the cupcakes here. Furthermore, their red velvet cake? Shameful. It never tastes...I don't know...fresh. It's hard to describe and the icing is subpar. The carrot cake? Disappointing? But I keep coming back? Why? Because I desperately want to be wrong! The staff here are always so nice, and I probably buy stuff because they are so nice (this is indicative of the Chelsea Market, it's like Disney there, the happiest place on earth). But I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like Amy's Bread. I'm sorry :(. Please don't hate me.

When the line snakes out the door to a bakery, you know good things are afoot. So many types of fresh, just baked bread. I love watching the bakery work from the hallway and you know that what you're getting is going to be good. At the end of a day you can see a nearly-empty storefront and the racks filled with proofing loaves. Don't miss grabbing a loaf or two on your way out of the market.

His pick was the grilled cheese sandwich. Mine was the small, rotund loaf of walnut bread.
He said ...well nothing actually. He was too busy getting down to business with his sandwich. (Upon later questioning, he said the bread was perfectly buttered and perfectly toasted. The cheese was ozzing out to the sides of the square toasts, and the cilantro and carmelized red onions were accents, punches of flavor. His thoughts, my words.)
The walnut bread was chunky (the chopped walnuts), moist, and with a touch of salt. When sliced up and paired with unsalted butter, it was quickly devoured. -

One day my brother brings home a loaf of bread that someone gave him. It was no ordinary load of bread, it was a baguette. I've been searching for baguettes like the ones in Paris, but it has been so long that I have forgotten how they tasted.
I took a chunk of my brother's bread and WOW. Nice crust, soft inside with the big airy holes in the middle. Not much else I can say but yum. I do however want to try the other items they have but I must look next time, I was in a little rush, well not really.
Now all I need is some good fromage, some saucisson and a cafe au lait and it'll feel like I am back in Paris again. -

I had gone to the other Amy's bread in Hells Kitchen but they were out of the almond brioche french toast so of course I had to try it here!
Overall, sweet and soft, but I wasn't amazed. The crust was too hard and bland such that only really the center was worth the calories to eat. -

What an amazing sticky bun they have. It was sweet but not too sweet. It was so soft and gooey. I wished it was warmed up somehow. I tried a few of their bread twists too and they were great. It had a nice crust and a really soft center, perfect for soups. My favorite was the rosemary twist. Great service too despite the long lines, everyone was so friendly despite the tourist overload.

I think this location has the friendliest staff. The AM line moves quickly. Their prices are fair, and they have a great selection. For $3.00, you can get a cup of coffee, and one of their bread sticks. I like the Chocoholic, Sourdough Chocolate, and Cinnamon Raisin.
I've tried their RV CC, and I've always been satisfied. I've noticed, they do not always have the RVCC. I guess, they run out quickly. They usually always have cake slices, though. They give generous portions of cake.
There is a few tables set up inside and a few more outside. -

Almond brioche french toast: Seriously knocks your socks off in eggy, almondy, crunchy deliciousness.
Chocolate twist: not overly sweet, french bread turned dessert, great to split.
Croissant: buttery, flaky, makes me want to put some ham and cheese and egg and salami in here
Everything in here is gone. I am salivating thinking about getting a scone next time... -
Review from Cat H.
LOVE Amy's Bread! I've only been to the Chelsea Market and Bleecker Street locations, and this one is by far the best. Let me tell you why.
The line always looks long, but it moves very quickly. Plus they always have a nice stock of cinnamon challah knots (my FAVORITE!!). The Bleecker St one always seems to be sold out (you hear this Bleecker Street?? Sort this out!). The almond brioche toast is always a just-as-delicious alternative.
Once when I ordered a beloved challah knot, the server, Jerome (Jerome was not actually called Jerome. My friend and I named him Jerome because he looked like one), gave me a free knot (!!) because he claimed the two were "stuck together". However, when I was eating them later, it was evident he did not try at all to pry them apart. I'm not complaining. Also, Jerome is very cute.
Now for the winning reason: when I spilled my some of my latte on the floor, I went to the counter to ask for some napkins. Instead of first asking where the spill was, the cashier asked in a very concerned way "do you need more coffee?". I very much appreciate people being concerned about my caffeine intake and putting the coffee first. Written down, this story doesn't sound as impressive. Maybe you had to be there. But I was very pleased with Amy's Bread.
PS: Am I the only one who thinks Amy's Bread lattes are the best in the city?? I'm not going to hold back! AMY'S BREAD HAS THE BEST LATTES IN NEW YORK CITY! -
Review from Angie M.
Amy's is just a happy place. Visited two times during my recent trip to NYC and always came in tired, moody, or grumpy and exited in the best of moods!
The coffee is delicious; didn't go fancy and just had a latte and a regular coffee with cream/sugar and both were wonderful. Tried the chocolate croissants and cupcakes; both are buttery and lovely.
Staff is super friendly and the prices are very reasonable considering how high the quality is of the products. Love this place... can't wait to get back to the city to visit again! -
Review from Jon H.
Came here on a windy rainy morning as I followed the smell of fresh breads. Sure, I'm pretty slow to join the Amy's Bread train, but F is it good.
Had two cheese biscuits (one with ham and cheese), a chocolate twisty, raisin twisty, and proscuitto twisty). The cheese biscuits, are as everybody says, ridiculously good. Warm fluffy, cheesy, buttery, delicious. The ham & cheese one, I could have done without the two slices of cheddar cheese (because of aforementioned cheesy biscuit). Also, they warmed it up, but not enough, as the center of my sammy was a little cold.
The twisties are ridiculous. At $1.50 each, they are just divine deals. The proscuitto one was smoky and meat filled. Raisin was sweet and delicious. Chocolate one was decadent and ridiculous. Also bought a brie and apple sandwich for a friend, she was so-so on it. Prices are all pretty good (although I find the sandwiches a little overpriced).
Overall, I love this place. I love bread, the smell of it, the texture, the taste, and most of all, I love Amy's Bread. Sure, there are better bakeries, mom&pop places, and even your occasional Panera bakery, but Amy's Bread does it pretty legit. -

The staff is very nice, and they work quickly when there are waves of people here during the AM hours.
I've ordered a Red Velvet cake here, and it was really good. The cream cheese frosting was good to eat alone. I loved the RV cake, but I did'nt enjoy the RV Cupcake.
Love their sourdough bread. Love their chocolate bread sticks. -
Review from Darwin G.
The have a great variety of bread. It really reminded me of going to a Parisian boulangerie. The bread was fresh and sparingly stacked behind the counter. There does not seem to be much of a surplus. Fresh is fresh, people buy what is available and bread is not left there to go stale.
I got myself half of a sesame loaf for $2.50. I sauteed some garlic with some rosemary and then baked the sliced, absolutely heaven.
The other items are not as well priced. The raisin and fennel semolina bread twist cost $1-2, though the fennel was quite overpowering. The Kitchen Sink cookie ($3) was a really good combination of flavors and good example of my favorite type of cookie (oatmeal cookies).
In general though, I would stick to buying their bread.
Next to the shop is the bakery, which is twice the size of the shop. Through the halls of Chelsea Market, you can see the bakers doing their magnificent craft. Their children, hundreds of loaves of gorgeous bread, are stacked all over the racks, ready for wide eyed carb fiends to purchase. -
Review from Allie A.
I loves me a good bread. Stopped by here for a quick lunch at the Chelsea Market. There was a long line but it moved fairly quickly. We ordered a small ham and Swiss quiche, a panini with cheddar, tomato, and cilantro, and two biscuits. Between the two of us, it was perfect. The panini was so simple, so fresh, so good. Should've ordered my own dang sammich.
Considering the fast pace of this place, I was continually surprised to see how happy and pleasant the staff were. The only negative: limited seating inside, very tight spaces, a bit dirty (leftover coffee cups, food crumbs on the floor, etc.) -
Review from Athena C.
Amy's Bread is chain but it doesn't lose its quality and friendliness. I love coming here for their freshly made bread and pastries. You can see they kneading the dough right next door and it is so much fun!
I always get the hearty whole grain twist or their whole wheat bread. Their cookies are great too and they are so big! Can't go wrong with Amy here. -

Good bread, but I must admit that I don't "get" the love. I always want everything to be better than it is.
That being said, the double-seeded wheat baguette is probably the best item I've tried at Amy's. -

Super fresh! Try the cherry cream scone, you'll never find anything quite as crumbly and delicious. Or one of their sourdough twists... Mmm. Coffee is so-so. Everything is a bit overpriced, but always worth it!

Things I love at Amy's Chelsea:
1. Raisin pecan/walnut rolls
2. Chocolate challah twists
3. Fennel raisin bread
4. Getting to watch the bakers bake the bread next door to the shop. Very cool to see how it's done.
You will leave Amy's cramming delicious bread in your mouth from a brown paper bag, like a classy guy or gal.
Well done Amy, whoever you are!
